Skype and widgetlocker problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm in a place where there is no mobile reception, but where I do have wifi connection. Yes it's weird, but it exists. For this reason I use skype to make calls to the misses.
But, whenever I am calling and put the phone to my ear, the screen goes off (which is normal) and the widgetlocker lock screen jumps in (not normal), and I have to unlock before I can hang up for example.
Funny thing is, I also use a lock pattern, but this doesn't show, only when I manually lock it. Calling the regular way does not have this issue when I'm somewhere with reception.
Anyone have a tip or fix?

Try contacting the widgetlocker app developer. Perhaps he has to change some codes in his software

Good point. I automatically assumed that if the answer would not be found on xda it would be nowhere to be found.

[Q] Locking on active call

Am I the only one that gets frustrated trying to hang-up a call? The phone shouldn't lock on active calls, but I can't find anyone else complaining. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong key terms?
Anyways, I've found a few apps on the market, like no lock, but it's not a true fix. There has to be some way to disable locking while on a call. I shouldn't have to spend 3 seconds to press the hang-up button.
** Additional Complaint: On speakerphone, the screen blanks out immediately. **
I get the same thing, very frustrating. There's a thread for accessing programming thru the dialer & one of those settings impacts this. The *#7594# that enables power off at long press of the power button also disables the lock screen and fixes this problem. But when I used it, it seemed to prevent my phone from sleeping, I noticed a big difference in battery life so I went back to stock set up.

Its really annoying when u r trying to type n a credit card number and the lockscreen pops up. I will say that for me, it o ly seems to happen after I install clockwork. I highly highly doubt this has anything to do with it. Maybe just when I notice it

I tried testing this when I saw the first post on it, but I can't seem to replicate this issue. I remember reading this was for incoming calls, not ougoing.
I have Screebl Lite installed, but I disabled it, set my screen timer to 15 seconds, called my cell, covered the light sensor for 30 seconds, checked the screen and no lock. I then covered the light sensor for 1m 30s, checked the screen and no lock.
Does anyone have specific steps to replicate this?
It only locks when I use bluetooth. Is that what the issue is?
good day.
I get this alllll the time...and when using speakerphone the screen stays on, you have to hit power button to turn it off

What the heck? My screen never locks when I'm on the phone. Honestly, I kind of wish it would. I have the completely opposite problem. I keep accidentally hanging up or muting myself because apparently, the proximity sensor doesn't detect hair, so the screen turns on when my hair is in the way of the side of my face. It's extremely annoying...
I wonder why my phone doesn't lock and all of yours do...?
Soultion???
Possible Solution for the problem at hand. Started when I began using a task killer. So make sure you HAVE an android process called "Call settings" in your ignore list when using a task killer. The call settings process will only start on the first incoming call after a boot. So your first call or two would work fine until any task killer kills the call settings process. I have been able to replicate this. And have not had it happen since figuring this out.
Reboot. Call device from another method to get "Call settings" to appear in your running processes list and add to ignore list.
good day.
Interesting thank you so much for posting it was quite an annoying problem.
I just had my roommate call my phone after killing the process. Im using advanced task manager and do not see a "call settings". I do see a task called "phone" though.
what task manager are you using?
Thanks for the fix, im 90% sure this is a reliable fix and makes plenty of since. Mine started after i downloaded advanced task manager. And i use it often to kill background tasks to make sure they arent running.

Advanced Task Manager by:Infolife (on the market) and FREE
I just use it for the one touch kill widget with memory display below the little guy. I never did like the always running auto kill stuff I prefer to do it when I see fit. But on fresh boot opened ATM and ignored all things android and the obvious apps you want running. Like I said, it is not until your first incoming call that the call settings process will appear to be able to add that to ignore list.
good day.
Thanks for the info but I must be missing something. Just tried to get call settings listed in running processes & it doesn't show after following the steps listed. Could you be more specific about what it's called?

Call settings is the name of the process. It seems not all task managers list android processes but still muck with them somehow. But the one I listed above did show the android processes running. On reboot "call settings" will not appear in the running processes list until you receive an incoming call. And that should explain why first couple calls would work fine until a task killer had its way. Took a screen of my ignore list so you can see it. If I stop that call settings process the first outgoing or incoming call will be locked.
good day.
Are you running stock d101? I got the same task manager from the market & have rebooted & called from a different phone multiple times and can't get call settings to show in the processes list. What am I doing wrong?

DI01 rooted and voodooed. Answer the call and it should show up.
good day.
Call settings still won't show but phone did & so did samsung.phoneinfo so I put both on the ignore list and it seems to work. Thanks for your help on this, it was one of the most frustrating aspects of everyday usage.

On a somewhat related note, I noticed that when your phone is locked and you receive a call, the glass unlock option shows up and you can answer the call (or ignore/reject with message). But if you answer the call and then YOU want to hang up, it forces you to unlock the phone in order to reach the option to do so. Is there any way to have a glass unlock function for hanging up? Needing to unlock the phone to hang up a received call is EXTREMELY annoying...

The above is in my ignore list as well. Just don't do any auto killing keep an eye out for that call settings process I bet it will appear.
good day. From my voodooed Fascinate using the XDA app.
As mentioned above. Im running stock just rooted. And my call settings hasnt showed up at all. I did add phone and samsung.phoneinfo and it seems to have fixed it.

spurious "Emergency Calls Only" until reboot

running cm7.1
at various times i'll get "Emergency Calls Only" on the lock screen even though it shows full (or partial) reception bars.
trying to make a call says "data network not available" or something like that.
reboot restores full service.
why why why does it do this?
is there a better way than rebooting? airplane mode on/off?
is there a way to have it bug me when this happens so i can reboot? (tasker?)
between this, the sleep of death, earpiece turning off during calls, and pretty bad force closes on the camera and browser i'm almost ready to go back to an iphone.
thanks!

Did this happen to you on the stock rom? Honestly, it sounds like it could be a bad sim card but I am by no means the most knowledgeable person ever.

not that i know of. but at first i thought it was ATT messing with me.
and i was also only on stock rom for like 5 minutes.
this has happened maybe 4 times over the past 6 months.
so it's hard to correlate with anything, but i'll try removing and replacing the SIM. if it continues and i don't get any other ideas, i'll get ATT to replace it

Best voice command app for S3?

So I just need a way to tap the phone once or twice when it sits in the holster while I'm driving and call/text via voice. I really don't need all kinds of extra crap like searching and launching music players, my phone is 95% for business and I am driving most of the time while on the phone (and have no internet connection).
Is S Voice the best option? I'm fine to keep using it, but just checking if there are better alternatives. I suppose my main concern is the battery drain of S Voice but I'm not sure if that's valid, if it is a drain or not, that's just from reading anecdotal posts around here and other forums.
Thanks for any help!
When driving s voice works for me for texts and calls, though with one issue. I use a motorolla bluetooth fm transmitter and drive a noisy diesel van, so the mike has a bit of trouble picking me up perfectly. sometimes it gets it right, sometimes wrong. Though this is mostly with the message of texts. Getting the right contact or dialing the right contact seems to work ok. But it only gets the message right half the time. Just the noisy van interferring there. If I do it just with the phone it gets it right most of the time.
I haven't tried anything like vlingo with it, but really s voice is just vlingo isn't it? With my old s1 things like speaktoit, etc etc worked ok but certainly no better.
Thanks for your feedback! I suppose I am just curious about battery drain, especially since in the S Voice settings for wake up command it even says so right there (that it will cause battery drain).
I have no experience with this stuff really, but I don't think battery drain would be too much of an issue. I mean, s voice is not running spill the time. Only when you double tap the home button, or, like me, have it set to wake up on the lock screen. It doesn't seem to be running permanently in the background.

Disabling everything that has to do with phone- emissions

Ok Allow me to explain.
I am sure there will be naysayers saying it isn't possible or attribute it to placebo effect or whatever.
I am having really sensitive issues with my Samsung galaxy S2.
Before I had a simple nokia. I didn't use it as much, and I didn't experience any discomfort.
Now with my S2 I am feeling pains/stings, in my stomach, brain, teeth, heart, eyes, legs, fingers.
I know how it sounds, but that's appearently how sensitive I am.
I know it is caused by the device, but I don't know what causes it. For example wifi feature, basic call/receive- cell phone technology something else or a combination.. I didn't test this as much.
Even if I am doing something else and someone *activates their phone* meaning the screen lits up, and I don't even see the person doing it.
I know usually very quickly that a phone is nearby.
So when the phone screen is dark. I don't experience it as much, more so when it is in *usermode*.
Anyway I don't wanna sell it because I don't know exactly what is causing it and it cost me 300 euro's. I still have my basic Samsung for calls.
I still want to use it for mp3 playback because I like the way it works + some offline games.
So my question here is. I already disabled wifi+ mobile data+bluetooth icon
Is there a way to de-activate the MOST components other then what I need to use the mp3 player+ play plats vs zombies for example.
I want to de-activate or freeze everything with Titanium backup tool or maybe you guys know a better way?
Please assist me in what is safe to freeze.
look at the stickied thread in themes n apps section.. :good:
This is not helping my friend.
I need someone who knows what they are talking about.
I want to shut down every service/ app that may communicate any kind of signal, mobile/wifi.
Does the Samsung really not put out any wifi signal when u press off the icon?
What services may block incoming calls or "checking" connecting to the airwaves/network.
Basically I want the telephone dead of emitting anything..
I don't care about normal apps that don't use any kind of emittance.
Hi chrisssj2,
When you press off the icon it just shuts down wifi so no it doesnt put out any wifi signal.
The best and safest way is just to freeze apps since you have to do more work when you accidently deleted an neccesary app.
The service that does checking connecting to mobile network is telephony/ril service, I dont know the exact name how samsung calls it but you can use airplane mode since it disables simcard/mobilenetwork and it disables wifi.
You could also disable bluetooth and location services/gps.
It seems that you are very, very sensitive to electronic devices.
There is also probably also a list of applications what you can disable on your galaxy s2 but I cant find it for you since my browser on my tablet (chrome) updated and now bugs like hell.
Did you already went to a doctor or maybe googled on internet about your sensitivity for electronic devices? Maybe there is like a temporary fix or a solution for that problem like some kind of case which reduces it so it won't irritate you.
Hello,
How do I use airplane mode? I have heard of this but I have never used such thing.
I have wifi gps, vibrate, screen rotate, blue tooth. mobile data, power saving, sync .
Only things on are powersaving, vibrate and sync. (not sure what sync does)
No I haven't. Because I know it isn't an accepted thing... you know people calling you crazy and all..
I read they have stickers for it, but there also naysayers on this.. not sure.
I also have disabled wifi on my internet router. I hope the signal is really 100% off when you do this. So I can really test how Ill feel.
I did not find this "telephony/ril service"...
I am not overreacting because I have been annoying on it for like 1 year now (got the phone almost 2 years now.) And I just seem to get more sensitive to it.. and have been ignoring it, but now something said enough is enough..
Anyway I took out the sim and put it in my simple nokia phone.
I will be so happy if I not get electrocuted by my phone and can listen music on it ^^
Very important to me, I like it way better then a normal mp3 player.

[Q] Switch voice control?

So I'm seeing if I can replace the default voice dial application. It's the one that pops up if you swipe down from lock screen, and allows you to tell the device to make a call. My car is bluetooth enabled, and when I hit the corresponding button on my car, it allows me to make a call. However, I find this default app very poor and especially slow. It takes forever to ask me if I'm sure I'd like to call this person, etc. I'm also hoping I can replace this with something that will also accept other commands, such as text, or ideally, even read a text. Is this possible?
bump. Found that there's a hidden 'car' app that I can only appear to find if searching through google now. This 'may' do what I want. I tried it once and it didn't appear to understand anything I said. I also couldn't seem to find a setting that automatically puts it in car mode, rendering the function pretty useless if I need to manually do it each time I hop in the car.
Bump. How does no one use this in their car
