[Q] Getting "No space left" error while installing anything - TouchPad General

Did anyone ever encounter this problem before? I was happy with UberKernel which I removed to try WartHog. WartHog installed fine and could overclock to 1.7GHz, but I noticed some freezing so wanted to go back.
For that I am trying to install Palm Default Recovery Kernel and getting the error "cp: write error: No space left on device", log below -

I have over 12GB available on the device. Is it the root partition with no space? Shall I try removing the contents of /tmp and /var/log to see if that helps or this is a known issue with another workaround?
EDIT: Getting this error while installing anything and almost nothing goes through unless it's tiny. Just with 1 or 2 cards, I am also getting the too many cards error.

Just tried to install a theme to see if this error is a real one and got the same message. So, there is indeed a space issue. I'll try cleaning a few folders ...

After removing a few files from /var/log (had no write privs in /tmp), it allowed me to install the recovery kernel. However, I am not able to install Uberkernel or anything else.
Anyone knows where the backup kernels are kept? I have feeling these files are not being cleaned up after successful install / uninstall.

Did a Full Reset and then Web Doctor, but still getting "too many cards" with 2/3 cards open so not sure if it's back to the factory settings. The root partition is about 82% full -

****ed up your lvm partition mappings? Are you using a stock WebOS doctor downloaded directly from HP?

Nope, I didn't do anything in lvm. I deleted a few .log files from /var/log to free up some space and that too before doctoring it. If the WartHog kernel did something I don't know.
Is 82% root partition usage normal even before installing any non-stock kernel?

Hmm. Well, there is meta-doctor which allows you to modify the doctor's partition mapping settings (among other things). I was just curious if something may have gone amiss through using meta-doctor to try to setup an ext3 partition.

Nah, I haven't used meta doctor, didn't even know about it. But after using webos doctor, a new issue that came up is that HP App Catalog never works. Always getting
