Hey
Few days ago my friend bought Samsung Galaxy mini and just for fun he downloaded Fruit Ninja, and it runs very well, but on my Wildfire it's very laggy. Why? I have OC to 768mhz and ~2x ram, when he's with stock. Is it galaxy mini better than wildfire?
Sorry for my English. I hope you understand me
It has an Adreno 200 GPU on the Qualcomm MSM 7227 Chipset/SoC. So, its miles ahead of the Wildfire when it comes to running basic games, because the GPU is the single biggest component that determines gaming performance, rather than CPU Speed and RAM. (MSM 7225 of the Wildfire has got no GPU)
In short, the Galaxy Mini has the same hardware as higher specced HTC's like the HTC Aria and the HTC Wildfire S.
Thanks for enlightening me on this one.. I was wondering bout the same thing too..

Which is really weird 3xeno, coz - at least here in egypt - the htc wildfire is about one and half price of the galaxy mini... I know that the camera in wildfire is better, but can the camera make all this difference in price?

No, its just HTC commanding a premium for the "image" they carry (And HTC Sense, obviously). Its the same situation here in India.
- Wildfire costs 25% more than a Galaxy Mini, and, costs the same as the Galaxy Fit
- The ZTE Blade (HDPI) costs less than a Wildfire (LDPI)
- Other superior phones like LG Optimus One cost equal to, if not less, than the Wildfire
There are a lot more examples of HTC overcharging:
- The Wildfire S costs more than the Sony Ericcson Xperia Mini ST15i (Which, incidentally, has the specs of a Desire S, Except, its MDPI)
- The Desire S costs a lot more than the upcoming SE Xperia Ray - Again, same specs, change in pricing.
- The Incredible S, just 2 months back, costed only 10% less than the Galaxy S2 and the Sensation. (The prices now are more in line where they should be)
The more I see stuff like this, the more I am convinced my next phone will not be an HTC. I am totally blown away by the SE Xperia 2011 lineup, TBH (Except the Arc). Its hard (Almost impossible, I would say) to find such value, which they are offering.
Just like all big brands, they start pumping up prices once they go famous.
I remember a couple of years ago people were like "Oh, HTC? What the hell that piece of **** chinese crap?" and now they are like "OMG HTC is the best ever."
But yeah, HTC really has some inflated prices.
IPhone users still say that!! Lol

Well I guess U r right, but I (personnally) prefer the sense UI and apps more than the specs, like the gpu or the cpu speed...
But since I also need the gpu and the cpu speed and these stuff, I guess next time, I will buy a high-end htc android device, like the sensation or something... But this is not gonna be soon... AT ALL!.. Maybe after 3 years or something!
This thread solve the my doubt that a galaxy mini is much cheaper than wildfire.
But wildfire S is almost the same price as wildfire and great in performace.
The wildfire S is design for the people who are low in budget

3xeno i agree HTC charges more for there handsets but the build quality, on board component's reliability, HTC Sense and stuff like that is worth it.
About Sony Ericsson Xperia, i would suggest not to buy it. Reason: I had a SE handset before i bought Wildfire, it broke all the time either software or hardware issues. During those million visits to the service center there always used to be a Xperia user with a dead phone because of a cheaply built main board or corrupt software.
So i decided to rather spend more on a well built handset than to spend even more on repairs later.
About samsung they make great handsets but they look plastic and cheap. Even Galaxy S2 looks bland in front of HTC Sensation.
And btw i have used a Galaxy Mini its user interface stands no chance in front of HTC sense plus the display of wildfire feels better to look at than Mini (both have same resolution 320*240).

I felt the same about HTC, that they had good build quality, but its not the case:
- Wildfire's are now suffering from battery problems after the warranty expires. Solution is to change the motherboard. (Thread in Wildfire General)
- My friend has a Desire whose touch response fubar'ed on him in 6 months, and the digitizer had to be changed. His was not an isolated case, and the net is full of such complaints that the touch response would fade
- This is a similar issue on the Sensation, where the touch issue will fade and will not work after some time.
Such issues make me believe that the quality of HTC is just all show, and no go. I fully agree with you that HTC's phones look good and exudes a feel of class, but, there is no use having a premium feel handset, if its internals are of such a bad quality. And, these are not isolated cases. I agree that the X10 Series of the Xperia sucked badly, but, I am hoping the 2011 lineup is better than that.
As I said, HTC is charging you for Sense, and I am glad you like it (Paisa vasool, no?), but its hardly a USP for me. I will gladly forgo Sense.
Samsung ftw!!!! Lol jks.
*turns on bias mode*
My next phone will probably be a samsung, I find sense too bulky, touchwiz, isn't that bad, but i use launcher pro anyway.
Also I'm not really impressed with the htc sensation. Samsungs, been making some really good phones lately (galaxy s2 ftw?). Easier to root, harder to brick, no annoying unlocker, bootloader warranty crap

Link to the battery problem, please? I can`t seem to find it.
Also, let`s not forget that Hero had touchscreen problems (lower half wouldn`t work after a while) and Legend had problems with the buttons.

Hardly. The S2 owns the Sensation in everything except probably the look and feel (I wonder when Samsung will learn and add just a bit of metal to their phones. It cant hurt...) and Sense 3.0. The Dual Core Snapdragon is no match for Exynos, and Mali 400 is seriously fast as a GPU. Besides, the S2 camera is right up there with the top cameraphones (Not counting Nokia N8, obviously)
Lastly, apart from all the benefits you listed, S2 does not suffer from death grip issues.

The title is a bit misleading, because there are people who are reporting the same issue a bit lower in the thread, and who have never rooted / modded their phone.
Your post actually confirms my apprehensions I had put down on my last post. The feel of quality on an HTC is just that - Its a placebo feeling, which 'looks' high class and sophisticated.
I am near the end of warranty period of my handset (actual warranty already void due to rooting and custom ROM) and i hope battery or touch prob does not come up.
And 3xeno as u say that HTC handsets are also facing hardware issues now, i think they are also going down the "Quantity Product" lane instead of "Quality Product".

First, ask this question in desire forums ;-)
Second: one thing better in x10 is slightly bigger screen. In practice this means about two lines of book in aldiko. Width and number of pixels are the same.
I have both phones now, first bought x10, then desire...currently looking at one rom per day thanks to easy rom backup. (now: defrost)

Why sell a 7 month old phone just to buy an 8 month old phone?
Try the Desire HD or Desire Z if you want a newer phone.

Camera: complementary and not fundamental to the workings of a smart phone.
Dispaly: 3.8 inch amoled with multitouch better than 4 inch TFT single touch
Rom: I think RAM is more important to the user and the dseire has 512mb compared to the x10 384mb
Battery Lifeurely subjective
Let's not forget that you get froyo and all its goodness on the desire while the x10, save for the devs cracking the bootloader, is destined to die with 2.1. Also HTC sense much better and more functional than the dreary UXP.
I don't think you'll find any review on any of the tech blogs that actually put the x10 ahead of the desire. The desire wins there unanimously.
Having said all that, I think like others who have said, you should wait until q1 next year when newer phones get released and then make your choice. Unless you want to at least get something reasonable back for your x10 before it becomes valueless.
I think that the crux of this question lies in the users needs...
For example.. tell us your top 3 uses of your phone.. (texting, watching video, browsing, streaming video from websites, listening to music, camera..... etc.etc)...
That way you'll get some feedback on the elements that really matter to you rather than having everyone commenting on the elements that matter to them..
For me.. I wouldn't have a Desire.. simply because it's ugly.. but that's just my opinion on a feature of the phone which is important to me.

The Desire loses because it's an old phone. The X10 loses as well.
Why would anyone buy an old phone when the newer version is already on the market?!
Not to mention, the X10's screen absolutely blows the Desire's AMOLED out of the water. There's a reason they changed it to SLCD.
Ive got both these phones at the moment and i have to say, as much as i love the x10 there isnt a hope in hell of me ever using it again. Sense is a better ui, im finding the battery life to be better, has froyo and custom roms, it might just be me but the screen seems more vibrant, i can actually hear the other person, my signal at home now stays on 3g permenantly where it used to drop to 2.5g the majority of the time, the software is a lot smoother and more responsive, the custom htc software like the music app is much better than sonys attempts and it has multitouch. The only thing i miss is the camera and app from the x10 but seeing as i take about 10 photos a year on my phone i think i can live with that.
All of this is just my opinion of course and if you disagree then thats your right but my x10 is being sold pretty soon and ill never be buying se again. The only reason i didnt get a desire hd or z is because for the cost it doesnt seem worth it really, i could get 2 desires for the same price as 1 hd or z.
I am considering purchasing a SE X10 (unlocked market) since I read the Gingerbread announcement.
Seems to be the cheapest GHz Android phone on the market. How does this stack up vs the HTC Desire? I would wait for the new wave of Xperia phones but I cannot see them anywhere close the the price of the X10. I read a rumour that the Neo was going to be below in the 300 - 400 range.
What are the pros and cons of the X10? I want a decent camera, good screen, and relatively fast cpu. I came from a Wildfire so this will be a big step up. Lack of radio and no wifi N does not matter to me.

Well, depends where you're from, here in UK, the Neo is about £370 from SE-Store.
However, the X10i is not bad at all, from my experience with the Desire I can say it's much better ( though the Desire was running 2.2 ) but it's all about personal preferences.
Stock X10i with 2.1 vs Stock Desire 2.2, the Desire would win due to the JIT and 2.2 enhancements. But if you are thinking of adding mods and ROMs, I think X10i can stand up against the Desire.
Camera is better in X10i, but keep in mind when 2.3 is released for the X10 it will have an android stock camera instead of Sony Ericsson's, but it'll do fine...
Now if you can afford the Neo, I would advice you to go with it.
imo the desire is a much better phone....
I have used both, and I think the desire is wayyyy better.
The only thing the x10 has that is better is the camera. The desire gets better scores, you can mod it wayyyy more, it has true multitouch, the screen has 16 mill colours so it looks much better, etc....
Go with the desire my friend
The Only Draw back of X10i for me is low volume Speakers (both, earphone and speaker phone)
if you don't care about it, X10i is the master piece !
desire have some good points but it have terrible battery life!
I thought the X10 has multi touch?
Things that are important to me:
1. Price
2. Battery life
3. Good performance
4. Good camera
5. Updated Android (or moddable if not)
The Desire is nice, but it is more expensive.

weird here they are around the same price....
The battery life is probably about exactly the same
There is no multitouch on the x10. There is dual touch, but it functions pretty poorly on games, etc... (if you cross axis it goes all haywire)
The performance is on par with one another. However because desire has unlocked bootloader, you can tweak it much more and get much better performance.
The x10 has a much better camera, no doubt about it.
As far as the update, because of the bootloader it would be easier to get updates on the desire. The x10 has 2.3 coming, but not until quarter3 or 4 of this year. The roms around here for the x20 (gingerbread wise) aren't fully functional and still have a lot of issues.
X10 gets 2.3.3 Q2/Q3...
X10 2.3 vs Desire 2.3 will be a nice battle.
One of my mates has a Desire, can't wait to battle him ^^

In a few months it's gonna be time for me to upgrade my phone. I was so sick of the xperia x10 w/ all of sony's and AT&T's holdups. Is anyone else thinking of getting the ARC?
I like some of sony's UI features, like the camera. Google's stock camera is disgusting. But I havent used it because I have to run a custom 2.2 rom that it doesnt work with.

But Sensation battery life sucks afaik. I'd go for the SGS II as most of the people do at the moment. Only thing is, compared with the Arc, all the other phones (and especially the SGS II and HTC phones) look boring and generic
With GB and custom kernels, my X10 will hopefully stay with me until the next generation of phones is revealed Maybe I'd even go for a MeeGo device, if Android apps are finally supported. Its perfomance and multitasking are really impressive and it'd be a nice change to see something different from Android.
I'm gonna stick with x10 until a beautiful next generation phone comes out. Or I may buy xperia ray, looks great and smaller than arc with pretty much same specs and front camera for video/skype calling.
Sg2 is great, after I tried in shop, but man its ugly.
I may sound a bit old fashioned but I'm getting annoyed with these massive brick phones, smaller for me please

For me the ARC is a definite no go. If your upgrading on a 2 year contract, then I would say loud and clear "stay as far away from the ARC as you can". In my opinion the arc has the same shelf life as the x10. However, if you have been happy in the main with the x10, then you can go for the beautiful design of the arc over the competency and performance of the other phones (SGS2, Optimus 3d and Sensation).
Personally, I now have a very different view of smartphones to that which I had last year. Then I had the view that they were just cleverer phones but now I know that they are more like mini computers. I wouldn't buy a single core computer for the same price as a dual cored machine because it looked prettier. The same, for me anyways, now applies to smartphones.

buying an arc now or soon at the price it is would be cheating yourself in some way imo.
Sure it looks nice, but imagine in 6 months time how dated it will be.
Do yourself a favour and either wait till SE releases something current, or buy something current
no way to get one more SE phone. done with them, i'm heading for SGS2 or LG Optimus 3D in the 2nd half of the year.
SE burned their bridges with me on the x10.
I was always a big SE fan and had nothing but good things to say about them.
But the x10 ruined it for me, so i will have to swap brands for a company that cares about it customers.
If SE had made effort with the X10, i would have bought a newer SE phone but they dropped us in the water.
there is no change in hell i give another 400 Euros for 16m colors, bravia engine and unlocked bootloader, even if i was rich.
If i wanted to buy a new phone i d buy samsung galaxy s2.
NO, Arc is ugly, But might go xperia Neo or Active(underwater video shotting)
Nah it's like buying a Nexus One now, you might as well wait and get something that has a newer lifespan.
There is Q&A section for posting this.
Finally time to buy a new phone. My Xperia X10 has failed so bad. I'll never go with SE again. Which is sad.
Hi everybody!
As the title implies, i'm looking for advice on low-end android devices.
EDIT:
decided to exclude the LG optimus one (3MP camera kills it for me), and the Galaxy Ace (278Mo of ram as opposed to 512mo on the Wildfire S)
But here come new challengers, as i've read marvelous comment on them:
The Motorola Defy, and the ZTE Blade S/Orange San Francisco II.
EDIT: removed the ZTE Blade S (hard to get and no support for adobe flash)
Added the Acer Liquid Metal (cheaper than i expected!)
After quite a lot of research, including here at XDA, it came down to those 3 devices, in that order:
1)Motorola Defy
2)HTC Wildfire S
3)Acer Liquid Metal
All three have:
- 512mo of ram,
- a 800+mhz CPU (well, actually, the Wildfire S has a 600mhz cpu, but it seems to be on-par with other 800mhz proc, performance-wise),
- Gingerbread
- a 5MP camera,
which are all important to me.
Oh, and i'd like the mobile to be able to turn into a wifi hotspot, i know the wildfire s does, but i guess all 3 mobiles do?
*Ideally, it should be a device i can reliably find around 200$ or less online or in brick and mortar stores.
I'm looking for the budget device that can be the (combination of) best/fastest/most stable with Root/kernels/roms/OC and the such, as this is what i'm willing to do. (plus, it's quite fun)
I'm not looking for the absolute fastest/most powerful, but rather more for the phone that benefits the most from a stable, bug-free rom.
*I already have a HTC Wildfire S, but after many, many, many tries, i didn't manage to root it.
(I'm stuck with a 0.9 HBoot that prevents me from getting the root, from what i have gathered, a problem on some HTC Wildfire S devices. Guess i'm just unlucky )
However, i guess i could find a store that could XTC Clip it for me.
(XTC clip works with ANY HTC wildfire S with a 100% success rate, right?)
Or maybe sell it, and buy another, already-rooted, one.
And it seems a rooted HTC Wildfire S could go a long way as far as getting a good device goes.
(Given the info on Cyanogenmod's site, the S can't benefit from Cyanogenmod 7 while the classical wildfire can. The other two can)
*EDIT:
after some research, regarding flash support:
- Defy and Liquid Metal both support full adoble flash
- Wildfire S supports only flashlite
Looks like the skyfire browser can help with flash support to some extent, but i must confess i really like Opera mobile.
Oh, and i'm perfectly aware that a phone around that price won't skyrocket to SII or Iphone 4 levels of performance, but that's not what i'm looking for.
Thanks a lot for your answers!

I'm definitely looking at the budget device that can be the (combination of) best/fastest/most stable with Root/kernels/roms/OC and the such, as this is what i'm willing to do. (plus, it's quite fun)
I'm not looking for the absolute fastest/most powerful, but rather more for the phone that benefits the most from a stable rom.
*I benefited from a good offer for a HTC Wildfire S, but after many, many, many tries, i didn't manage to root it.
(I'm stuck with a 0.9 HBoot that prevents me from getting the root, from what i have gathered, a problem on some HTC Wildfire S devices. Guess i'm just unlucky )
However, i guess i could find a store that could XTC Clip it for me.
(XTC clip works with ANY HTC wildfire S, right?)
(I live near Ottawa, Canada, and i'm pretty new there, so if you're willing to share a good store's adress regarding XTC Clip, i'd be grateful)
Or maybe sell it, and buy another, already-rooted, one.
And, apparently, a rooted HTC Wildfire S could go a long way as far as getting a good device goes.
(Given the info on Cyanogenmod's site, the S can't benefit from Cyanogenmod 7 while the classical wildfire can? Am i right on this?)
*Samsung galaxy ace is pretty hard to get at 150$ apparently (it's more like 200$), and i like the fact that the Wildfire S comes with more ram. Maybe it's irrelevant?
*As far as the LG Optimus goes, i've read very mixed reviews. Some claim it is a best budget phone, others tell you not to buy it at all.
Would that phone really benefit from rooting as far as performance goes? Is it easy?
I've also read great things about Huawei Ideos, ZTE Blade and Acer Liquidmini, but those are fairly hard to come by used and unlocked, as compared to the 3 phones above.
I could however use some feedback on them, or others i might have missed for that matter (easy to hack? really benefit from being hacked?)
Oh, and i'm perfectly aware that a phone around that price won't skyrocket to SII or Iphone 4 levels of performance, but that's not what i'm looking for.
Thanks a lot for your answers!

Suggestion...
If you are in the silicon valley (i know its a long shot...WWW is a global phenomenon ;-) I would check out some meetups and try to find one that is giving away free device to developers that attend those meetups...I can say that I have received around 3 brand new devices and they are worked out great for development purposes... plus you will save money!
I would go with the LG if I'm not mistaken it already has a almost fully functional CM9 only camera doesn't work i think.

I'm not sure about Canada, but in the US you can find high end phones (Galaxy S2) for under $200 (with contract agreement) at authorized dealer locations such as Best Buy.
use craigslist or kijiji and get an lg optimus 2x. Good battery life, excellent camera and dual core 1ghz, plus it has HUGE rom dev and ics :-D. U can get one for around $100.
Hi guys!
Thanks a lot for the answers!
@Leo.o: a trip to Silicone valley would cost me a lot more than 150$.
@Nerot: interesting, i'll check that, even if the camera not working is kind of a big letdown.
@Towle: i'm already under contract agreement (that's how i got the HTC Wildfire S i didn't manage to root)
@Icenight89: I'll check that phone, thanks for the suggestion. Edit: checked, and the phone is more around 250$+ for an unlocked one.
Sidenote:
All in all, is it worth the trouble to root my current HTC Wildfire S?
Would it be a very good phone once rooted?
Also, is XTC Clip garantueed a 100% success rate, as i didn't manage to unlock the bootlader using the tools at HTC dev?
I apparently found a shop in Ottawa that could do it for 30$, but i don't want to waste those 30$ for it not to work.
Edit: i've also read great things about the Motorola Defy, anyone got feedback on it?
(not that i really care about the "indestructible" aspect, but if the phone can be greatly optimized and last a few years, spec-wise, the fact that it's highly resistant is a plus)
I have a Samsung galaxy gio, and my mom has the ace. They are both great phones, but i like the gio much better. Its just an awesome phone for the price. My sister has an HTC wildfire s, and i personally HATE it. It has almost no room to install apps, and i find it impossible to type on it. It doesnt seem to be able to keep up with me.
@AlwaysDroid: the galaxy Gio is really light, spec-wise, in my opinion.
But feedback is always appreciated, so thanks a lot!
Went with further research, and decided to eliminate the LG optimus one (3MP camera kills it for me), and the Samsung Galaxy Ace (278mo of Ram kills it for me, i must confess i love having 512mo of Ram).
So, now the competitors are: HTC Wildfire S, Motorola Defy+, and, the ZTE Blade S/Orange San Francisco II.
I'll edit the first post.
Eliminated the ZTE Blade S (hard to get and doesn't support flash)
Added the Acer Liquid Metal (cheaper than i expected!)
Edited the 1st post.
Still looking for advice/feedback, thanks a lot guys!
well...did u choosed anything ???

It gets hot, that's true (and kinda strange.... )
The camera isn't that bad (and absolutely enough for the use you're gonna do of it, e.g. posting photos on FB)
If you are looking for similar sized phones you can consider the GSIII Mini, considering the fact that it hasn't got Sense customization, and for a HTC user it can be kinda disappointing (I used to have a Wildfire S, when I bought a Xperia go I was so disappointed of sony customized UI that I replaced it with the Desire X)
Just a thing... please improve your english..

I'd recommend it if you can get it for £180.
However if you're willing to go for a few quid extra I'd go for the GSIII Mini or a little bit more than that you could get a Nexus 4...
As Matyt said, the device gets hot and it gets pretty annoying and unpleasant.
We have received updates for this device, and most users now have a Jelly Bean update.
Moreover our device gets the Linux 3.4 kernel with Jelly Bean meaning we'll be able to run the next few releases of Android on our phone whether it's officially or unofficially.
We have lots of progress on the AOSP ROMs front as well, with CM9 almost fully working and CM10.1 in the works.
In terms of developer support, you can't go wrong with the DX
Thanks for your advice im geting more tempted to get the desire x now do you think there is a way to fix the overheating and do yuou think this could shorten its life?
once i again....
if you dont have too much money and want a nice - cool , fast phone...not in a shoe size...you better buy it!!!!
it gets hot but not in critical points....
for the money you will pay you will get a very good phone
and lately a lot of developers are working on our phone...so we will get jb roms aosp and others..which will make our phone twice faster
from what you ask...this phone suits you!! A LOTTT

thanks for all your help nice to see a bunch of friendy guys who know what there talking about who can give real advice
mine doesnt over heat until i play an intense 3d game. and that happens to all the midrange phones i know of. Its only major compromise is on:
- no front camera
- no digital compass
- no 720p video recording (although playback is possible)
But dont forget the positive things:
- fast processor
- Good camera lens and low light snapshots
- HTC Sense (although lite version)
- Ram is higher
- Screen colour reproduciton is v good. (although not very bright)
- HTC Sense
- JellyBean (Upcoming in some regions - Damn you HTC)
- Light and beautiful design.
I agree with neXus PRIME. I havent had the issue of the phone overheating.
The phone is absolutely amazing in my honest opinion. Except for the front camera and htc full sense. Although i would advice you to check this link regarding the white noise (hiss sound) on some of our Desire X.
But that has never annoyed me at all as i barely noticed it. And after some search on Google, the white noise seems to be a problem or some kind of sacrifice introduced on almost all mobile devices to compensate and even out other weird sounds. I think there is a video regarding this which is on one of the pages on that link thread.
There is nothing else to disregard Desire X as an awesome and handy and comfortable device for those of us keen on getting a quality phone within a budget.
And once again if you want to compensate for all the con points neXus PRIME has first mentioned in the above thread, then by all means buy a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini.
I have come from a Wildfire to the Desire x.
The perfect move.
The DX camera is 10x netter than the Wildfire
I am glad i Made the move.

It important that you are 100% happy with your purchase...my advice go with your heart.
the Desire X is a nice phone has everything that you need and will receive updates for at least 4.X(not sure about official but surely unofficially).
about the heating that can usually happen due to prolonged usage at high frequency of the processor(our default governor is performance hence the reason slow down scaling and rapid fire upscaling).
this can be fixed by moving to interactive governor(better ratio of scaling) or/and changing the scaling governor to conservative.
though this problem might persist if you play games/use apps that have a high processor demand(usually very graphic intensive).
there so my suggestion is to look for a device that has the following points.
1.confirmed jb update(this gives it a better chance of getting 4.x future updates).
2.Strong developer comunity.
3.possible working method for rooting.
4.custom recoveries.
5.good specs vs price ratio.
for me the Desire X ticks all these boxes.
but in the end the choice is yours.
Good Luck,
Dark Passenger
The phone is far better with the JB update, from my own anecdotal experience. I was unhappy with it on ICS. I'm still not impressed with Sense Lite that we were burdend with, and had I known about it at the time I would have opted for another device.
There are many positives about the phone, it is very cheap and it works OK for the price. If I had more money I would go for a Nexus 4 though.
The other reviews above are good, but I'd add in the actual handset is not very comfortable in your hands, especially for extended periods, and the screen feels less responsive than the one on the old Desire (Bravo). It is very plasticy and the back cover feels very cheapo and fragile.
It's a grand Android phone, it costs next to nothing (comparatively) but the performance is fairly low end and there's an air of cheapness to the whole thing. My Nexus 4, GS3 and other devices feel far superior (though to be fair they are). My One X JB update slowed down some fairly basic functionality for me and I really didn't like it after it updated. I've a concern that HTC are rushing software or it is too fragmented for them to release solid ROMs for their devices.
I use the DX as my day to day out and about phone and it works fine for the most part. There's nothign major wrong with it, just a lot of little niggles here and there. Some of which were fixed with JB update!
If you want a very cheap phone for basic surfing, facebook etc and won't be installing any particularly big games you'll be fine with this device.
I went to get the desire X on sataday and was told by the shop that they do not keep them in stock as they are such a bad phone that they nobody wanted them but from what you guys said it sounds like hes talking out of his ass

NEVER trust retailers...
i never do i sent a nice email to there head office saying how there staff ignored evreyone in the shop untill they all waked out then when i came back an hr later the palce was empty and then was told its a rubish phone but you guys on here seem to be loving the thing so im just looking for somewhere elce to buy it from but there isnt any other place i can find that sells it so i may have to bite the bullet and buy it from them
Personally, i hate the phone. I regret buying it everyday. Hell, even my old Galaxy S was a lot better then this piece of crap. Don't recommend buying it.
I find it Amazing that some people take so much effort and time to come onto a forum and talk rubbish.
You can go onto virtually any forum, IPHONE, Galaxy 3 and 4 forums, you will always get people there with problems, mostly user related.
You also get the chops who also go onto the various forums and say this phone is the biggest rubbish just for the kick of it.
To the one who bought this product, surely you dont compare it to Top of the range Galaxy, Sony or Iphone.
Compare apples with apples.
The Desire X fits into its own market, It delivers just what is expected of it . Accept that or buy another phone that will suit your needs.

'Delivers what is expected of it' Yeah because when we spend $300 on a phone we all expect a software update that will break one of the phone's main selling points.

This is not, hate desire x forum. I like dislike a lot of things. But this phone ISN'T crap. I've tested many equally costing devices from others and they can be called crap. Let us all stay on topic. Our frustration with jelly bean update n bugs shouldn't make us so narrow minded so as to neglect all the good things about it.
Peace.
