Toast did released the Alpha build on XDA, but hours before that he released it first on RootzWiki. It seems as if XDA is not the prime time spot anymore.

In case no one noticed, he was actually here making his official drop thread initially, but apparently changed his mind because of all the skeevy users stalking his every keystroke. So, yeah, Rootzwiki got it first (again).....
By the way, XDA hasn't been the "prime spot" for a while, now, at least as far as CM and TeamWin are concerned...

I would say that the mods are only a quarter of the problem. You have stalking ass users demanding what these devs do for free for us, as if it's owed to them just because they created an account.

I completely agree Mazook. I have seen nothing out of line yet (atleast I haven't witnessed it). All I've seen is praise and thank you, etc. For him to tweet some **** like that is beyond f'ed up. I don't understand. I just can't get the mindset.

I just returned his retweet to him, basically with a big "wtf" wrapped around it. I'd never bring it up in toast's thread, but he needs to be held accountable for that kind of blanket-statement trash if he's gonna spew it to the whole planet.

i agree with both of you.. it always seemed like you could tell when a new crop of users got on, because ignorant demands would increase, but lately it seemed as if it was 10 fold, and some of the users that have been faithful to the community and helped out all along got caught in the crossfire, which is unfortunate.. most of the people that i have seen complain about mods are people who deserve to be moderated, people who barely have any posts who just troll, flame and are generally annoying to everyone.. i have seen some of the faithful complain but those are the ones that got caught in the crossfire, and deserve to complain..
i also agree with the derogatory remarks that have been made about XDA in general, i have seen other devs make similar comments.. now dont get me wrong, i get it.. i totally understand dealing with high maintenance douchebags who demand demand demand, but do absolutely nothing in return.. and then flame because the battery doesnt look right.. but you will have to deal with that everywhere in life, its up to us to make the community better, thats why its a community.. rootzwiki will be just as bad one day when it becomes as big as XDA, because all the ignorance will just go there.. it happens..

I just went to toasts thread and seen he had recently posted and was still online, but like you said, it doesn't belong in the thread, so I didn't post anything. If I sent him a pm I'm sure he wouldn't reply or I would just be another "ungrateful prick" complaining about something.

I loveeeee sense 3.0 exponentially more than the original sense bull Ish that was on the og EVO but honestly I'm getting bored with all the half assed roms that are being cooked with chefs mixing AOSP and sense. This is NOT MEANT TO HAPPEN. so many glitches and bugs that it just pisses me off. Ya true AOSP roms are trickling out but really, nothing will ever trump cm7. Fastest most stable AOSP based ROM ever made. I would always try out other roms and always flashed back to cyanogenmod within a matter of minutes. And i know there are users out there that are with me on that. The only.other Rom i enjoyed on og EVO was fresh. Please if anyone knows any details on an eta for cm7 on the EVO 3D even an RC reply. Thanks.

This is the most disrespectful ignorant post I have ever read. You sir, are insulting all of the respected developers of this forum by calling their work half assed and *****ing because their is no ETA on CM7. You should be thanking all of them for the work that they do so you have something to flash! Cyanogen works for Samsung, CyanogenMOD was started by cyanogen, but right now it's a ROM available for a bunch of different devices maintained by different developers.
the Evo 3D version is in the best hands possible (toastcfh)

To be completely honest, for me, trying out the "half assed" roms you mentioned are more fun than having one stable one.
It feels like I'm a part of something. We're trying out roms, helping the devs create something awesome! THAT feels better than just having one stable rom.

This is probably the most insulting thread to developers, themers, porters, and anyone else who is involved with the advancements of technology and expansion of choices that have already become available for the EVO 3D. You sir, are an asshole. If you're not satisfied go buy a different phone so no one over here has to put up with your *****ing.
EDIT: Considering the ROM I put out was a mix of Sense and AOSP from the get go, I definitely take this personally as well. You seem like quite the classy guy.

Did quick search it. Seems to me that either you are in or not. With our phone being difficult to get the basics functional, the practice of running off the guys that move development forward is slowing progress to a crawl.

I know I personally stopped participating in getting on people who harass the devs or intentionally start drama because the mods say that it's not the communities job to do that. It's theirs. But, it is what it is. I'll still be on this phone until my contract is up. Which is a long time, so most of us aren't going anywhere.

I would like to start this off by saying that I know we some great devs on this device who, I'm sure, will make some awesome ROMs/Kernels and I appreciate everything that every developers puts into any device whether I use it or not! Thank you all!
With that out of the way, I would like to start a donation thread to get JoelZ9614 a Transformer Prime. I have already PMed him to make sure he was willing to do this and he is completely up to it. I would also like to say that he has not asked for anything from anyone. I am doing this because he has done a lot of work for the community and never asked for anything in return. It's not that he needs the money or the device. I started this because he is another dev that we can add to the TFP and someone who is proven to make quality ROMs. I'll be donating my $15 to him either way. I just thought it would be a nice gesture to show him that the community values devs like him and others enough to help them out a little. I can see why devs are leaving XDA left and right.
These devs do this stuff for FREE and a lot of them never ask for anything in return and there are people who insult them and are completely ungrateful. I don't know how to develop and I know these devices aren't cheap. This is my way of helping them out for helping me keep my device new to me. I have had the same phone since the Evo 3D came out in July and I still get to flash new ROMs every week. I don't get bored with my phone that will be way outdated here very soon! I can't afford to go out and buy phones/tablets every time something new comes out.
EDIT: Guess I should have looked at your join date and post count before going into all that. If you haven't been here before this month and haven't flashed a new ROM or kernel, there is no way you'll understand. It's about appreciation and respect for the devs.

Hell yea man! Thanks for stopping by this thread. I love your ROMs. You were the first to do a lot. I haven't been genuinely impressed with many ROM devs but you and a couple others have really impressed me! We need a dev over here who can not only compile CM9 but keep up with it.
It seems that everyone who has put CM9 out isnt even maintaining it. Hope we get to see what you can do with this beast!

Man, no love for JoelZ huh? That sucks. Would have loved to see what he could have done with this thing. He made some badass ROMs for the 3D, which doesn't even have an ICS leak yet. Could only imagine what he could get done with something that has official ICS.

That's true and it sucks. I hope development doesn't halt on this thing. I would hate to have to sell it. Especially since I love my Prime+Dock.

I think a lot of people (myself included) are waiting for the supposed GPS/WiFi fix that is supposed to start happening near the end of this month. I personally will wait to see the results of RMAs to see if I will send mine in. Can't send it in if the warranty is voided.
I have used Joel's PrimeXL for the Evo and I still use it to duel boot between Honeycomb and ICS. It would rock if we could get him to develop for the TFP.

It's not, Jer is warning that they can lead to problems not that you can't try it.
I would like to make a request to the community.
We, as a community really need to shape-up. This place is absolutely crazy. There are harmless threads that turn into spam and people complaining about aosp. The fact is we need to stop this. All of you know you hate this too but stooping down to the level of these trolls only makes things worse.
What we really need is for the mod team to really come down hard on this place. Not just the trolls but everyone. Everyone has a role in this.
People need to be infracted or banned or whatever and these threads need to be sent to the damn trash.
This isn't just a job for the mods either. Users need to stop feeding the fire that trolls start.
We need to take the initiative to shape up before this community goes down as the one that scared everyone off and died. Seriously think about it...

I know I do but there's still people that argue bck with them and it grows exponentially before the thread is closed or deleted

I use Nilsp's ROM exclusively, so I don't get into many other threads. His thread is relatively clean, with very few people asking questions answered in the first page...and absolutely no sniping at all.

Mikion and Chef Holmes have both been temporarily disabled I think. They both flamed the hell out of all Joelz's threads.
I don't get what the dispute is between XDA and The MikMik. They're both resources for Android development so it makes no sense? If it were Android vs iOS, maybe I'd understand more but this is lunacy.
Developers such as Newt and Scott both frequent both sites and share their work on both so what's the big deal?

I haven't seen YZ in forever. Numerous people have wanted their threads closed, but they stay open, and all the flame threads still exist.

The mods are still around. I posted a farewell thread the other day and decided to change the title of the OP and tell everyone about it (sorry about that by the ways guys).
Now that thread has been completely removed, so they're definitely still active...
The ironic part about it, is that I'm still on the Rezound forums even though I bought a Nexus (I still own my Rezound though so I guess I'm allowed - no more trolling, I swear).

Yep, and every time someone tries to bring up the xda drama the mods/admins tell everyone to stop. They are definitely taking the high road for the most part.
My opinion, we need to just stop already. These threads are just giving validity to our reputation. We all just need to relax, be respectful to each other, and show some appreciation for the work that the devs do for us for free.
As for the dev on dev public fighting - this just needs to not be tolerated. Period. Either take it to PM, or just shrug your shoulders and say "meh" and keep on keeping on. The only thing the public fighting does is get the rest of the community fired up and then the bashing amongst the devs fans starts. I think the public dev fighting is what really tarnishes this community. Their are always *****y, ungrateful, douchebags within the normal every day users. Everyone just needs to ignore them and let the mod team handle it.

dsb9938 does some great work. As a (non-Android) developer myself, I know how frustrating it can be when software issues arise, especially when you have ungrateful users that feel like they are entitled to a piece of software that is developed for free by someone in their spare time that asks for nothing in return. It's disgusting. This is why we can't have nice things.
I hope that dsb9938 decides to come back. We need people like him to help unlock our devices full potential. Screw the whiners. Let them be drown in their own misery.

kids who read GPL and think they are owed, and DESERVE something. people like DSB do it in his free time, and people expect paid support.

All i have to say about all of this is. Anyone should be able to say there opinion. That is in a good way. If you are just writing a post to piss someone off i believe that you should be banned from the forums. No ifs, and's, or buts.
It is ridiculous anyone would grip about a mod that clearly starts off with the phrase "I am in no way responsible..." I haven't even switched from the stock rom just because I want things to work. If I was willing to explore and felt like reloading my setup to switch roms, I wouldn't *****. It is to be expected. When a new rom is released, I wait to see what the issues (if any) are before I would attempt a re-flash.
There are good devs on this board but I have seen quite a few of them get chased away by whiners and complainers. Hell, I am still using a rom from Roebeet on my GTab who used to be here but left for the same reason. He actually started his own website to build roms. It is a hobby, not a job. Don't expect stuff and you will not be disappointed.
Just remember, a lot of these whiners are the new generation who will be running this country in a few years and making it suck for all of us.
So I just picked up my replacement DNA last night and it just hit me. How am I going to unlock and root without the unsecured kernel? Or anybody else for that matter. This is bigger than first imagined if only very early adopters have root. Wow this sucks bad.

While Luke's comments weren't "productive" , they also were not rude or ban worthy. While I enjoy dsb's work, he has a bad attitude in general and I thought it was disrespectful as well as made him look like a giant cry baby for saying he'd never release anything else because Luke asked him to have some accountability for the fact he messed up on his latest kernel, 2.3.1 which was rebooting everybodies phones. Luke may have gone about it the wrong way, but I believe he felt as I did. Felt that dsb was ignoring the fact that there was something seriously wrong with his latest kernel. Dsb had incinuated that it wasn't his kernel that made everbodies phones lock up and reboot, but it was "problems with the phone, even on stock". Nobody minds if you make a mistake and your work directly messes up phones. At least take responsibility and admit you were wrong so you can start working on a fix. Also dsb was frequently rude to commentors who did nothing wrong or acted flip towards them. This behavior is simply unacceptable especially for a recognised developer. Recognized developers represent xda and they should carry themselves with respect for others and themselves while posting on the forums, even if others don't always.

You can still do all those things. I followed the cube kernal from day one and to me the luke guy is being made a villian here. don't know him, don't care to know him. but DSB was very sarcastic to him on the forums. that's when they both started talking crap. either way it sucks and hope he decides to return. i used all the kernals he made and ended up sticking with the unsecured. but swipe to unlock was great. unless you've read the entire cube thread don't jump to judge.
Luke *****ed about every build and he kept egging on the dev every chance he could. As noted in another thread about this, Luke was rude to the moderators too so it's not just DSB.

Luke definitely is missing a filter. Again for me this isn't about Luke's actions but Dsb's. Dsb will constantly run into lukes everywhere in life. Not just on the forums. My advice to dsb is to work on his forbearance for others.
