[Q] Theming a stock Galaxy Tab 10.1 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this possible?
I am familiar with the process of doing it on a rom for my Captivate but that is rooted and has CWM installed on it where I can just flash it through there.

Anybody at all?
With 108 views someone should know the answer.

Themes are possible on stock as long as you deodex the rom. Same as on captivate once themed to flash it. CWM and root instructions in sticky in dev.

But if I am deodexing the rom then it isnt really stock anymore then is it?

Yes, its technically not stock anymore since your combining the odex and apk into single file. But as far as I am aware, you have to deodex the Captivate to theme. When I themed my captivate I would only deodex /system/app/systemui.apk (.odex), /system/framework/framework-res.apk (.odex) and leave the rest at stock.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but have you seen the theme restore I posted in my thread? That will bring you back to the stock Nero v3 theme.

Use adb or Root Explorer, or something similar to copy twframework-res.apk found in the deodexed JL5 ROM to system/framework/. You may want to backup your current twframework-res.apk just to be safe. If you're not comfortable with that, I'll make this into an update.zip for CWM and post it in my thread sometime tomorrow.

Try the twframework-res.apk from the deodexed stock JL5 ROM, the one from the ROM you're using could have been changed. Not sure though.

On a Gingerbread ROM it will work, even stock as long as you're rooted.
Sent from my AXI0M ICS RAZR using tapatalk.
I've used it and my daily ROM is a UOT'd custom ROM (Eclipse)
I had a problem getting the background of the notification drop-down to change, but I might of not uploaded all the files needed. All other changes worked fine and no other issues here.
I try to flash 3 uot files and i can´t do it
It have error: status 0,installation aborted....Anyone can help me?

Same here always status 0
Just paste your UOT-modified files into the right directories with a file explorer if you can't flash the zip, that works fine.

Edify scripting. New scripting with update-binary, compatible with ClockworkMod 3.x (recomended)
update-binary: Type EMMC
Then it works with CWM Recovery
Now yes!!!
So from what i see dsixda's Android Kitchen has been updated. And i was wondering if this Software will work for the xt910, and work with the current 4.1.2 stock Deodex?
Note: I really prefer not to start looking into this, if people can confirm it will be a waste of time. However i am a noobie and i really want to start my own 4.1.2 rom cause we are lacking them.
I don't see why ANY deodexed ROM wouldn't work (as long as the kitchen was updated to the proper SDK level). Try it out, do a nandroid backup and flash it.

[Q] Cut down XOOM rom?

I do really apoligize if i sound incredibly noob-ish and dumb. If in theory i download a stock flashable xoom rom and then remove most xoom independent files such as kernel (modules) and other /system folders then flash it over a lightweight rom without tw apps, would i get a stock honeycomb rom? Mainly relying on compatible /system/app and system/framework folders?

nope. If you don't know what you're doing (and few of us do), just find a ROM in the dev forum and follow the instructions. If it was as easy as that, everyone would be a dev...

[ROM] {CWM package} [USA / INTL 4.0] Stock rooted + deodexed ROM (base)

Stock Galaxy Player 4.0 ROM
This ROM is for the Galaxy Player 4.0. It is almost stock and in a CWM package, so ROM developers can easily use this as a ROM base. Most of the preliminary ROM work is already done, including deodexing, zipaligning, root, and busybox. Feel free to use as your ROM base, or you can flash if you just want a near stock experience.
Trying to promote development for our players. Enjoy.
Features
- stock
- deodexed
- zipaligned
- rooted
- busybox v1.19.3
- CWM package
USA UEKI8

Do you mind if I link to this in my rom devving post? it would be REALLY useful. I was going to do it, but I have been busy lately....did you use dsidxa kitchen, and if you did, did you fix the busybox issue in it?

Search around the forums, I think there might be a recovery ROM floating around here. You can extract it from the Odin package.

Go to sammobile.com and search for gt-i5500 ROM's. You'll get all the stock ROM's you need. For gingerbread, use cyanogenmod 7.

Can I ask why you wouldn't just download a custom rom? You're making a lot of work for yourself by building on stock... CyanogenMod is stable now by the way and everything works so I don't see why you need to mod stock?
To be honest stock roms work best on this device I only have to edit and tweak a few things and add some scripts the hardest part for me will be the theme side of things and I can also port so I just want to try and make a good rom with no bugs with good performance without a rom that's already been modded
