No internet on WiFi! - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I moved to a new place and connected all of my devices to my same wireless router and for some reason my FlyHoney v0.2 HTC Flyer Wifi only cant connect to the internet. I can establish a connection with the router but thats it. Does android use a specific port or what?
ps My skype app connects just fine but everything else cant connect

Should be port 80 for general internetz. At least that's what it is on my flyer.

Try posting in the thread of the rom youve installed.

Its not the ROM, my building blocks port 80 and I cant figure out a way to get around it on my Flyer

Vpn?

Your building is only blocking port 80 inbound...if they are blocking port 80 outbound your interwebz wouldnt work on any device without a proxy.

Ad-hock networks?

I am running a windows 7 laptop (ASUS G73JH-A1) and I set up an ad-hock network, pretty standard stuff, I share my internet on it...
But the SGS2 (Litening 2.2 ROM) doesn't show those networks. Any way to fix this?
There's a sticky in the GS2 general section that you might want to read

I suppose you mean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066102 ?
Sorry, it's been a long day, I'll check it out...
EDIT: The people there seem to talk about issues with unstable connections, I can't get the phone to even recognize any connection...
You'll have to apologize, this is all mostly new to me.
Android doesn't support ad-hoc I'm afraid.

[Q] Flyer not finding Wifi network

My Flyer Wifi usually connects to my office wifi network. Like my home network I have the passwords saved so it connects automatically. Recently it stopped discovering the office wifi network. My phone still connects on the network but on the Flyer the network does not show up any more so I cannot connect.
Tried.
- Restarting Flyer
- Installing WiFi Buddy
Thus far no luck. Any suggestions?
Get the admin to reboot the office router. I bet that would solve it.

[Q] Sync and internet connection issues
Hi all,
I'm an uber-noob - 1st time with android and 1st time using any kind of sync software... so will try to be as concise as possible:
I have sorted out HTC Sync on the PC to sync stuff - good good...
I added Zimbus on Thunderbird - seemed to be okay-ish...
[Q1] Does BirdieSync over ride the HTC Sync?
Using a:
HTC Flyer P512 (WiFi only)
Android 2.3.4 (updated)
Dumm de dummm de dummm... ...
[update!!!]
okay, uninstalled BirdieSync (simple!) and PC syncs with Flyer now.
But Exchange ActiveSync still can't connect to server though, ...
Help?!?!?!!
Ian
Seemed to sort 'itself' out after a day, all good. Sorry for the fuss...

Hello I have a flyer with honeycomb 3.2 and wifi cant find my wireless
i use linksys and i try other brands like dlink and tp link but it did not work
anyone can help ?
up please answer to my question

Bluetooth question

Maybe I'm retarded or the rom does not support it.....
My HP tp on cm7 and my android phone. Want to pair them and connect. I can pair, but not actually connect. Any thoughts? Or is it a system.limitation on android on the HP?

I also had same problem with my last android phone.
Sometimes it is possible that bluetooth devices are not compatible.
I had a motorola which I wasn't able to connect it to my Macbook Pro...
I hve Samsung galaxy 2 for T-Mobile and on web os it connected.
It depends on what you are actually trying to do. My phone pairs but doesn't "connect" but when I send a file through bluetooth, then it connects accepts the file and then disconnects.

I wanted to do.the text messaging on tablet while connected to the phone. Like I said on webos it worked. Android side not so much. As for file transfers I haven't seen that work yet

As far as I know android doesn't have this built in by default. You need an app to do that. I use DeskSms on my phone to do this.

Mine pairs but says it doesn't connect. When I share a file through bt to the tp it accepts it and transfers.

Rezound Tethering Issues

The dilemma:
Just moved into a new home and I don't have internet or cable for a week. So, with my Rezound I thought I would just tether to my computer and hook my computer to my tv.
I downloaded PdaNet and got a USB error. I have 3 USB ports and 3 USB cords including the one that came with the phone and none worked. Error code=1. I then tried easytether and same problem.
So, just for ****s and giggles I plug my wife's Droid 3 and it works no problem. Watching Hulu with buffering issues and all. WTH man?
I'll take any suggestions. Is there a Tether program that works or settings to try?

I had problems with this also.
When I was running CleanROM, my iPad 2 would never connect. It would see the hotspot just fine and seemed to connect, but I could never getan active Internet connection.
Then I flashed the ineffabilis ROM and whatever version that ROM is running works perfectly for me.
For the record: I haven't had any problems with pdanet on my stock Rezound.
Do you have USB Debugging enabled and the phone in "charge only"?
Sent from my HTC Rezound.
Yes on both counts. I have a 2nd laptop and it takes a couple reboots to get it working.
On the working laptop I'm running Windows 7 (but no HDMI). On the non-working I'm running Vista (but my wife's D3 works).
I use Easy Tether with no problems on my stock Rezound.

I have this problem too and it all boils down to how the signal is being broadcast and weather or not the receiving device can accept it. Seems that my tablets (xoom and flyer) as well as my ps3 need a softap connection while the only thing I can make broadcast is adhoc. Sucks! I'm sick of switching Sims back to my Tbolt just to get some wifi!
Listen to me. *****ing about something like multiple tabs and phones to obtain free wifi. Talk about "1st world problem's" what's next? Gotta take my 24's off my car and go back to BS 20's!? Lol. Jk. I don't have rims

Tethering OK except with encryton
I have run Ineffabilis and Nils and am able to connect unencrypted wireless tether on both. Whenever I enable encryton, the wireless tethered network is seen but I never get a request for a password when attempting to connect and then get an internet connection error message on the guest ipad or laptop.

This is kinda what I'm talking about. Hit show details when the broadcast starts and fails. You'll see that it fails when configuring softtap. Adhoc works, but a lot of devices don't see it and can't encrypt. Kinda blows.... I hate switching Sims back to my Tbolt just to get wifi on my devices.

I am using "Wifi Tether for Root Users" 3.1 beta 10 and it works perfectly fine for tethering in most cases, as long as your other device can connect to ad-hoc networks. I did have to use the "generic" device profile and enable the "Routing Fix" option in settings to get the devices to connect properly though.

Actually, I can consistently connect with encryton off. If I enable access control, I can usually connect. If I enable encrypton, forget it.

Fantastic. I guess I should be more specific. *MY* devices don't see the broadcast. Rooted flyer on GB, roooted xoom on ICS and a ps3. My xoom DID see a broadcast when I was on a HC rom, but factory xooms on HC. Ever saw it...
Just wish it worked flawlessly like Tbolt. I've tried mss clamping, router fix etc... Maybe I'm wrong, but it Right be related to something pertaining to not having full S OFF. Idk...

Most android devices can't connect to ad-hoc by default. For the Xoom, you need to look for a wpa_supplicant file that is modified for ad-hoc devices. The same most likely applies to your Flyer. I have no idea about the PS3 though... but I would also doubt it has any default support for ad-hoc networks.
I am using the modified wpa_supplicant file from the Xoom forums on my Asus Transformer to get ad-hoc compatibility for tethering, and it works absolutely perfectly.

You can use a modified wpa _supplicant file on the Zoom to connect to ad hoc connections. I can probably track down the thread if youneed it.

Very interested! Please do kind sir. As I will be searching myself. I thought it was funny how the xoom on ics didn't work, factory xoom didn't work, but my HC build from Zone did! Guess they built that into their build...

I finally got the one I was having problems with six tonight, I did the WPA supplicant fix on my galaxy tab 7 inch.
The info was easy to find, just googled...
Galaxy tab 7 WPA_Supplicant
And read several threads. Just mind you find a modified file ina zip format you can use, and make a backup of yours before replacing.
Oh, and turn wifi off first, duh.

Any one having any luck tethering to a ps3? Anyone find a way to broadcast not in ad_hoc mode?
Im stuck out of town and have been trying various versions of wifi thether... all with no luck.
Im about ready to go to walmart and tether to laptop and had connect (internet share) to the ps3. But I would rather tether if possible.

WiFi tether on JB roms

So any of the new JB ROMs support WiFi tethering? I need it for my tablet on the go. I was told that neos TRON rom had a working WiFi tether but my tablet doesn't even see the connection. Thanks in advance

It works, but only when using ad-hoc instead. I've also read that 4.2.1 roms have a bug where 4g drops and requires an airplane toggle to reconnect as well. So stay with cm9 or sense based roms if either of those is an issue for you.

Ad hoc is a wireless network mode. Normal wireless mode is infrastructure where you have an access point that everything connects to which manages data exchange similar to a switch. Ad hoc is a mode where computers connect to each other and handle their own data exchange and collision avoidance. "Normal" tethering works in infrastructure mode where the phone becomes an access point. Computers support connecting through ad hoc, but very little else does. Most tablets and gaming devices only support connecting to infrastructure.
