Can't unlock officially, have error codes - HTC EVO 3D

Hi. I followed the HTC Dev unlock guide, but this is what I get after trying a few hundred times:
Unlocking Bootloader Failed!
Sorry it didn't work out. Here's why:
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
WTF. NOT one guy on Google search encountered such problem... and I can assure you I'm not making any typos. I'm copying-pasting exactly what it's asking to, ex format:

My info: Stock, just got this phone, EVO 3D (Rogers), Radio 1.20.631.2
Rooted with Revolutionary, HBOOT 1.49.1107
You're help is appreciated.

If your rooted with revolutionary you can't use the HTC unlocker and why would you??? No wonder it doesn't work you are already unlocked and your hboot doesn't support the HTC unlocker you would have to take the OTA.

That's the thing, I tried before and after rooting. It didn't make a difference. I got the same error.

Dude,
If you unlocked with revolutionary why are you using htcdev tool. Its already unlocked!
Good luck!

I uh... did not know Revolutionary recovery unlocks too... I thought it was just for root and s-off... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1247392)
Only one way to test, need another carrier sim!

You can be s-off through alpharev's tool, update to HBOOT 1.50, and unlock with HTC's tool/token just fine. I've done it myself just to see what would happen once other's said s-off was retained with HBOOT 1.50. I don't think HTC's method does much other then add a UN in front of LOCKED from a usability standpoint though.

Everyone answering here is CDMA, so unlocked to them means something different. I doubt HTC's method will sim unlock your phone. It just makes it so you can flash custom recoveries/roms/kernels/etc.

I have same problem with xoltrix2000 and my HTC Evo 3D same to you. Can't unlock bootloader through HTCDEV

What's odd is that other than deathscythevn and I, literally no one on the web has this issue, nothing at all! For a moment I felt special, but not in a good way.

xoltrix2000, I fix it already. You must flash ROM ship after you unlock with htcdev.

Cant unlock officially, not giving me error cods
I have a sprint Evo3d and this is what i get when i try unlock

[Q] HTC Amaze - Unlocking the bootloader fails

Hi,
I am quite new to Andriod and just trying the rooting for the first time.
I have HTC Amaze 4G on Mobilicity in Canada.
I was trying to root my phone. My attempt was failed in the stage of unlocking the bootloader,
I was following the instruction on HTCDev site
I successfully retrieve the token code. However, When I enter this token to HTCDev site it gives me following error.
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. I checked everything...token was copied properly, I checked there is no additional space.
Can anyone suggest me any other procedure to root my phone?
You asked the same question on another thread so I guess I just paste my answer here too.
I'm a total noob so take my reply with 2 grains of salt...
But I read on the rooting thread that aparently the problem is (at least with Telus users) that since HTC Dev added the Tmo amaze to the list now the Telus get CID errors since they are in the "wrong" country.
May be that is what is happening to you too????
You can read more about it in that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...324177&page=25 just look around there and see if it applies to you too...

Hmmm....if we log in using a proxy located in the U.S. would that fool htc into unlocking our bootloaders?? Just a thought.
P.S. I think its the rest of you who are in the wrong country. LOL
Mobilicity and WIND haven't given HTC the thumbs up to allow bootloader unlocking apparently (What I garnered from an HTC reply email)

Unlocked a "relocked" bootloader

I bought used Rezound and figured I'd unlock the bootloader using HTCDev.com
I go through all the steps and at the last part after I enter the token I get this:

I noticed the top of the screen on my phone says ***RELOCKED***
Is there not a way to unlock it once its relocked?

no, you can unlock it once it's relocked. Most of us that have taken the OTA by RUUing had to unlock and relock . So, I would go through the process again , just check and double check the steps. I had an issue where it failed 8 straight attemtps and it turned out I was actually copying a space in the code..once I removed the space it went right through.
I made sure I wasn't copying the spaces, tried again and took a screen shot.
Gave same error

It has let me redo the HTC Dec steps with my phone multiple times. I finally figuired out once you get the unlock.bin file you can always reuse it. I do what is stopping you. :/

Maybe a dumb question, but your not including "please cut the following " part in it when you submit are you ?
Nope only pasted what I have highlighted in post 3.
Not to mention I have purposely copied them or some stuff out, and get a normal error to the extent of "You're token is to long, or to short" ect.

So wait, where did you get this phone? Is it possible the old owner unlocked it, relocked it, then sold it? If so, anybody know if he will be able to unlock since he probably doesn't have the original key?

If I can't I'm going to sell this damn thing for a Nexus.
Unlocking Bootloader Failed! 173
I am getting the same error. I just activated the phone yesterday and have tried the process on a PC and a Mac now. Are the token identifiers supposed to change every time? I noticed that every time I type the command fastboot oem get_identifier_token I get a different token. I read some other posts where they were having problems and it ended up being a hardware issue. Any thoughts?

I have unlocked and relocked my phone 2 times now, and got a different token and identifier every time, so it shouldn't matter if he has the original unlock token or not.

but if you want to re-unlock you can re use the same unlock bin file without generating a new token. If you make a new token your bin file is invalidated.

if you've bought a used rezound, that means the person
who sold probably unlocked the phone first.
why not ask that person for the unlocked token he used?

This is an issue with the website, not the phone. I'm dealing with the same bull****.
I had the same problem. I relocked to get the update and could not unlock. I don't know what the fix is. Fortunately I saved the file from the first time I unlocked and it worked fine.

You know, I don't know if that's sensitive info but you may want to black some of that out just in case since it pertains to your particular device. Probably doesn't matter but I always opt for the safe route since I'm a paranoid android.
EDIT: Looks like HTC fixed the issue and people are getting their unlock codes now.

it's unlock code to unlock bootloader for your HTC Android phone.
After unlock bootloader, you can root your HTC phone.
And after that you can install any custom rom you want.
And do many many amazing things.
I tried this but got error 170
Error Code: 170.
Error Reason: CID Not Allowed.
You havn't by any chance had it repaired have you? cause if the motherboard is changed you cant unlock it.
Perhaps this will help me, I just got a new 3vo yesterday and the damn site wont send the email.

As long as you provide the correct cid for your phone it should. word of caution it doesnt like spaces so make sure there are no spaces before or after any of the text.

You have to use your OWN unlock code. the one i posted was only for Shponglized.
Its very easy to get your own token but sometimes htcdev doesnt send the code to an email or you may be experiencing problems with the site. In that case post your Identifier token here so that someone else can generate the unlock code for you.

Unlocking bootloader

I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my dna that's on 2.06 firmware. Please do not tell me to use moonshine, I have to unlock my bootloader first before trying. I've already had issues with it.
I unlocked my bootloader on earlier firmware (1.xx - I forget the exact version) so I have an old Unlock_code.bin from HTCDev. I already have SuperCID (all 1's), so I figured I didn't need to use jcase's newer method, which said it only worked on devices on 1.x anyway. I went through HTCDev anyway to make sure I could still unlock, but when I put in my device identifier token, I got error 160: MID not allowed.
As I said, I could just use the old Unlock_code.bin, but I want to do this the right way. Do I have to run jcase's exploit (even though it's only supposed to be for 1.x), or should I just use my old unlock code?
SOLVED
The answer is yes, you can use your old Unlock_code.bin, and you may have to. This will only work if you previously unlocked the bootloader and got SuperCID.

[Q] Is root and recovery possible without sunshine on VZW max? 2.49

Ok I have 2.49 and no money to buy sunshine at the moment. Is there a way to root and install recovery without S-off? I am on 2.49 Hboot. Verizon HTC Max
very much so sir! i m not sure about carrier versions like your verizon device, but i am using the international one max...and the outline of the procedure is standard and you can find many tutorials on it. here it is briefly:
1. goto htc's dev site, register your device as a dev device, and you will get an unlock code
2. use the unlock code to quickly unlock the bootloader
3. with bootloader unlocked, you can flash any recovery you want
4. with recovery, you can flash the superuser or supersu packages to root
thats it!
s-off gives you some more flexibility, but its not necessary for most modding/tinkering purposes. i have done all but s-off, and haven't yet found a compelling use case for myself in which i would be forced to get s-off...so far!
all the discussions you see on the forum talking about troubles with hboot 2.49 are in the context of achieving s-off. hboot 2.49 does NOT keep you from unlocking bootloader and all that jazz. its specifically a hurdle in the steps to achieve s-off.
finally, there are some doubts about htc's stated versus effective policy regarding warranty status of devices that have received unlock codes from htc's dev site. might want to read up about the pros and cons if you want to be sure about the effect of the bootloader unlocking steps on your warranty.
edit: and i'll also mention here for completeness that unlocking bootloader disables the fingerprint scanner. as always, theres a lot of topics/discussions here on the forum about all the details. i believe the consensus is to lock the bootloader AND clear the "tampered" flag. some say the bootloader status must be "locked" as opposed to "relocked", which is where s-off might become necessary...or some such! haven't quite done any steps yet to enable my fingerprint scanner. don't want to hijack your thread, but that would be my next question if i was you and had just read my post!

So I am on Verizon and when I try to unlock through HTC dev it gives me error. I have used the htc dev to unlock many htc devices over the years. I dont remember the error but I am 100% sure HTC dev unlock will not work with my version which is 2.49 and 4.4.2. So I wish you were right I would already be there. Thank you for your in depth post
Problem solved!
