[Q] Power saving scaling? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody examined how the scaling works on the SII with Samsung's built-in Power Saving mode?
Just curious.

[Q] Switch on Screen Faster?

One annoyance with my SGS2 (rooted, KE7) is that it takes a couple of seconds to turn on the screen when I press the power button. I've heard that this is because the CPU needs to wake up from a power saving mode. Is this true? Can it be disabled? If so, what impact does it have on battery life?

I don't think it has anything to do with power saving mode - All Android devices enter this mode without problems waking up.
My theory is it's related to the voice command functionality. When you press the home button while the phone is awake, theres a similar delay in order to detect a double tap (to enter voice command mode). I think there's a bug in which this delay affects waking the device as well.

[Q] Power saving mode

Just out of interest, how much battery power does the power saving mode save, especially if you lower the CPU?
Is it worth it?
Thanks.

Power Saving Mode + SetCPU

I've searched the forums and can't seem to find a definitive answer... I am using SetCPU with the conservative mode enabled for most of the time, but I also have the Samsung Power Saving Mode enabled. Is this redundant? I'd rather just use SetCPU and not the built-in Power Saving Mode if possible as they seem to do similar things; although SetCPU seems like it has the capability to restrict the CPU a bit more? Is there any documentation, other than the few sentences in the settings menu, on what exactly Power Saving Mode does?

[Q] autostart an app when on external power and sleep when the power is cut?

Hi experts,
Is it doable to tweak an android to autostart an app when on external power and to sleep when the power is cut?
I think of that as a dashcam application, that should autostart without manual intervention and go to sleep when the power is cut.
Just wondering if it is doable, maybe just a script?
Thank you
