Why? How can I check exactly what caused it?

[SOLVED] How can I discover what keeps turning on wifi?

Hello everyone!
I'm new to android, so forgive my noob-ness, but I have this annoying feature that I want to disable.
I have recently reset my phone (running rooted stock android 4.1.1) and I have restored some of my backed-up apps + installed some new ones.
The problem is that my wifi radio keeps turning on (when the phone is in standby), and I have no idea what application/feature is responsible for this. Before I did reset to factory defaults, the phone didn't behave this way.
I'd like to learn how to find out who is responsible (probably by log analysis?).
I usually keep wifi off and the "open networks available" notification is also off.

Re: How can I discover what keeps turning on wifi?
Well, I still haven't isolated the problem (I've been freezing suspicios apps), but I noticed something odd. Each time I reboot wifi is turned on (even if it was off before the reboot). I'm not sure if it is normal, but I will try to disable the run on boot apps until I isolate the problem
Re: How can I discover what keeps turning on wifi?
Update: I isolated the troublesome app: it was "Change Hostname". When starting on boot it would turn on wifi while changing the histname...
Now I regained my sanity

[Q] WiFi Hardware Failure, need help.

Hey guys, So here's the problems. I believe my WiFi/Bluetooth hardware in the phone took a crap. I was running stock (rooted) and the wifi was starting to give me problems like tethering would not always be visible and whatnot then it just stopped working completely.
I installed CM10.1.2 along with flashing the boot.img (phone is S-On) and no help, the support thread there told me to try a sense rom and if that didn't work its most likely hardware failure... so I did (EclipticRez v8) along with installing their kernels blah blah blah same problem.
So here's what happens. The WiFi will stick on the "Turning on WiFi" so it seems like it just keeps attempting to turn it on. Occasionally it will just say error. When it is stuck on the Turning on WiFi it absolutely kills my battery. 10% an hour with the screen off in Airplane mode. When it says error my battery life is fine, but when I open any app that uses data wifi tries to turn itself on. I have tried the settings to "Never auto turn on WiFi" and it doesnt help (I think wifi needs to be off completely for that setting to help, but I cant get it to any other state but error or turning on wifi.
So obviously this is not fun at all for me or my battery. Now where I need help is if there is a way to just completely remove wifi from android. Like is there a way to just get rid of the kernel driver for wifi so It doesnt even exist on my phone?
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
So if Wifi and BT don't work. Hardware then. Seems like it's starting to happen more frequently nowadays.
Same thing started happening on my wife's Rez last week. Mine is still running fine. I wiped and installed 3 different roms to establish that it is hardware related. She still isn't convinced it isn't due to me flashing new kernels, etc.

[Q] No wifi

Hey guys
The wifi on my galaxy s3 just randomly stopped working. I was sick for a week and just left it in the car, and when i got it out, it kept turning it self off and wouldn't connect to the wifi. Instead of just not being able to connect, it cannot scan for wifi availability. It just turns off. Everything else works fine. I've restared and completly cleared the phone. I have no idea what is wrong with it, nor how to fix it. Any ideas or suggestions???
Flash full stock firmware and factory reset, if still the same then it's a hardware fault.

[Q] Bluetooth problem.

I have this problem on my samsung galaxy s3 (i9300) when I try to start the bluetooth it stays in the state turning on for a while and then it stops trying and goes off. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Bump.
Factory reset, then flash latest stock firmware with Odin.
If still the same then it is hardware.
Hi guys.
I have a similar problem. I already tried a bunch of different ROMs and even stock that came with the phone and cant seem to make it work.
It paired successfully with a headset but it doesn't connect to it at all. When I turn discovery on it stays on for 10-15 secs and than bluetooth turns off and back on.
Sending files is a no-go also.
Is there any way to make sure its hardware issue? Is it really common that bluetooth chip dies?
I found the solution. I had tried factory reset, flashing other roms and clearing cache none of this stopped my bluetooth from turning off by itself.
I have to turn off wi fi go to task manager clear cache and then I can start bluetooth normally. I think this is a hardware isaue becouse the wifi and bluetooth are in 1 chip. This is just a workaround so you can use your bluetooth

Hi. I have the same issue. Wireless is working but Bluetooth cannot be started.
Can you tell me where you cleared the cache? (step by step?)
Can it also have something to do with the Kernel?

wi-fi disconnects frequently

Hello, my Xperia 1 keeps disconnecting, tried to reboot, reset to stock, restart the router, but I still have issues, am I the only one with that problem? Just wondering if it's a software thing or if I should ask for a return.. Do you guys have same issue?
