Hi Guys
Ok this may sound like a silly question but is there a way to have both the slide to unlock screen and also pin code screen?
The reason i ask is i like to have my phone protected so need the pin code but then i like some of the slide to unlock screens some people have posted and with the lack of notification led i'll hit the power button to see if i have mail or just check the time but would like to see a funky screen (i know sad)
Cheers
go into settings, location and security.there you will see "screen unlock settings".Choose whatever option you want.

Yes but if you put a pin onto your screen, the lock screen goes away and the phone is unlocked after entering the pin.
Yup just like giga502 said, if you set a pin code then the slide to unlock will be replaced
i would like to have both, could be a pain but does anyone know how to get both?
I doubt its possible to get both unless you root your phone and install custom rom.
Hey Guys
Managed to get both slide and pin screens
Downloaded WidgetLocker and this gave me the option
Cheers

I have added this option in my upcoming mod...
First you will see the glass or aosp lockscreen then the unlock screen.
But yes you need a kh3 rom with a cwm kernel to apply my mod.
Look for JKay Deluxe in theme and apps thread.

Are there any ways to install another lockscreen but not by using apps (making them native, I don't like the way it works in widgetlocker app). I have root, CWM and so on
To be honest I want puzzle lockscreen like it was in Vibrant.
*Ripple lock
it's on the marked and xda .

But unfortunately this is still an app superimposed to the original home screen or lock screen (which sometimes appears...)
Also the notification bar remains visible!
Original lock screen can't be actually replaced, but only hidden.

That's why I dont like those apps.
And why are there tons of lock screen in Vibrant Roms/i9000/Captivate and difficulties with i9100? What is the principal difference?

Besides home button unlocks the screen. Even with enabled and disabled notification bar.

+1 on that!! I hate the lockscreen so much, I'm using AntiLock to disable it. Apps like WidgetLocker or RippleLock are no proper alternatives because they either unlock with the home key, or have 5 seconds limitation, show the Samsung lockscreen underneath and such.
Just like you, I wonder what's taking devs so long to come up with alternatives. Why is it more challenging on this phone than others?
Guys,
I'm using WidgetLocker and enabled the Root Helper option, and also disabled the default Lock Screen. (In Advanced menu) and also checked Disallow WL suspend.
With these setting the defualt screenlock is only displayed for 1-2 sec when I restart the phone. but that's all.
Previously I also encountered the problem that I had to unlock the WL and then the stock one but now only WL is running.
I don't like lock screen in widgetlocker and in gingerbread itself. I like puzzle one or the one from ripple lock, but it doesnt work properly
One thing that really annoys me about my X2 is the fact that when it's idle and I want to use it, I have to first slide my finger left to right to unlock the screen, and then put in my security pattern to use the phone. It's a little redundant and stupid to have to do both. Now that I"m rooted, is there a way I can remove the initial left to right swipe screen unlock?

There's a free app in the Market called No Lock. I have it, and it works great!

Ah that's right, someone mentioned that before but I wasn't rooted at the time. Thanks.
EDIT: Actually that takes both things off, I only want the initial sliding unlock removed, I still want to enter my pattern...
I found AntiLock which does what I want but is kind of shoddy... it shows the home screen for a split second before making you enter the pattern, and there's no emergency contact button down below. There has to be something else out there.

I use No Lock; put MIUI on my wife's nook color and No Lock was bundled with it. Seems to work well.
No Lock doesn't do what I want though, I still want some security in the form of the pattern lock. I just don't want the stupid left to right swipe screen, it's pointless.
Never really notice this until now.
Basically once i set a PIN code, everytime i wake up the phone it immediately goes into this PIN code screen instead of the lockscreen where you swipe right to unlock then lets you enter the PIN code.
Is this how it's suppose to work for the SGS2?
Apologies if this has been asked before.
That's a bug, but its there. No worries.

go into settings-location and security.there you will see "screen unlock settings".Choose whatever option you want but if you only want the swype screen option to unlock then select "none".
Ahhh ok ... hopefully it can be fixed soon by Samsung or Google!
I miss my lockscreen with the date and time info without unlocking but yet able to pin protect my phone, coming from dell streak.
Thanks all for the replies!
My galaxy S2 unlocks in my pocket frequently. I only have to walk 10-20 steps and i hear the keyboard typing away in my pocket.
I know about the pattern lock but that is a pain. Does anyone know of any tweaks or anything that will make it less likely to unlock in my pocket?

are you using a custom rom?
use LeoMar's rom. if i'm not mistaken, there's a app in the rom kitchen which allows you to disable waking up the screen with the home button. this way, only the power key can unlock your phone.
go into settings, location and security.there you will see "screen unlock settings".Choose whatever option you want.

He doesn't want that.
The easiest solution for me was to get a Samsung OEM pouch.

There's this cool app on market call Smart Screen Off LITE, the free lite version does the trick and if u dont want it, just kill the task:
How can I disable the first lockscreen? by this I mean, if I use pin or pattern or password lock, they appear after the first lock screen with the slide to open. I would like when I bring the phone from standby to go straight to the unlock (pin or password) screen rather then first screen which I need to slide to open then the locked screen where I need to input pin or password.

Its been discussed many times that its not possible with default stock Sony firmware. There are couple of threads lying around as well.
