Clockwork on D3 - X2 next? - Motorola Droid X2

Koush said via Twitter that he would make a bootstrap recovery for the X2/D3 if someone lent him a device. Well, lookie here:
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/13/clockworkmod-recovery-booted-up-on-droid3/
Are we next? Would love recovery that didn't require a wall charger...

Somebody get that man an X2...

i tweeted @koush but got no reply

im new to android devices does this mean that the bootloader is unlocked if this is running on a device?

Good observation. However, he mentioned a package deal on twitter, similar to the X/d2 bootstrap.

Again Sorry to be a debbie downer, but this isn't koush, this is HashCode, (Their Version of Tenfar) Except they're not tethered...Also Koush Would Probably do a bulk release

what do you mean by tethered? are you saying d3 doesn't have to be plugged into the wall?

bionic is alot closer to D3 and such than our X2, Tegra2 vs OMAP4. Sadly none of these really make a difference for our device due to different hardware/software yadda yadda

Well to be redundant the atrix is similar!!

Again, Koush said D3/X2 bootstrap. We now have a D3 bootstrap. Just being optimistic.

As long as the phone functions fine this would work perfect. He would not have to activate it at all.

Potential source of an unlock

Read the post at the url below. It describes how to get updates from Motorola cloud servers. It might be useful in getting unlocks for other phones. Please spread the word to anyone interested in an unlock for Motorola Android phones with Blur.

Damn... I was on my phone and I guess I didn't see the exclamation point... Oh well...
Actually the Atrix and the X2 are nearly identical. That's why the CWM recovery for the atrix works.

You are right. Which is why I have been trying to use your kernel source. Sadly Motorola keeps releasing broken kernel source.
Sounds interesting

As unfortunate as that may be (and it is really unfortunate) my CM7 work is going to be based on Moto's kernel because I have no choice in the matter atm. That being said, it only takes a few tweaks to make a new boot.img that can be flashed to the phone if and when we get an unlocked bootloader.

Wouldn't it work using 2nd init, similar to the OG X?

Just out of curiosity, For unlocked phones, is the cm7 ROM use the same kernel for all phones? Or is it tailor made for a specific phone?

Which phone do you think they will crack first? More then likely the Bionic, besides, its a much better device.
Don't forget there will be even better choices on VZW than Bionic b4 in a month or 2

I am glad actually that I have until the end of November for my contract to be up. There are a few devices I am waiting on and I am keeping my fingers crossed for a ICS Nexus device by XMAS.

Keep an eye on CVPCS's twitter

Correction he said the DX, DX2, and the Bionic.
Being able to flash without having to be plugged in would be nice. Not that I'm *****iing. A working recovery is better than none. And I'm assuming up for discussion is more for CM7?

I know! Means it's time to have "software issues" due to the crappy 2.3.3 OTA and get a D3 as a warranty exchange .

Moto Root has been patched

Hey guys, this is from P3Droid's Twitter, don't jump on any new moto updates!
P3Droid
Service Announcement: Don't take any moto updates the root path has been patched !!! You've been warned.
... Motorola wants businesses to buy their phones. I bought a phone with a freaking Tegra2 for freaking games and power. Not business. Besides, if they wanted to be business friendly they would have faster, better updates.
What The****
Moto there you go again.
I wish they would spend their time working on things that matter instead of this kind of crap. It'll eventually be root-able again but in the meantime, it's a pain in the ass.
From what I hear, Zergrush root method will root 2.3.5 devices.

true. but I wonder if any newer 2.3.5 leaks will have it patched.
I wonder if the forever root mod will hold up tho?
Motorola is pissin me off wit this junk for real
I am sure P3 would have tried Zergrush before he posted that.

Your right, if moto was putting their resources towards better development, they would have better/faster updates for all their devices. But they want to control how people use their devices

I tried zr for 235 and it kept failing w/ win7 so I sbf'ed to 234 and used voodoo rootkeeper and it worked to keep root on the latest (1.3.413).

I installed roots keeper after reading another post. How do you restore your root with the app if you loose it? The app does not really say how to regain your root.

I'd jump ship too, but I'm already 6 months into the contract. I'd rather not spend the full price on a device. I'm sure some good brand new open device will be available in a year from now. Maybe the next nexus?
There is already a huge bug with the nexus that ****s with the volume. Apparently the shielding on the inside is bad. My Rezound is a solid phone, and after comparing it with a Galaxy Nexus, the Rezound is absolutely the better phone. I don't give a **** about NFC.

hopefully it doesn't stay that way too long.
sorry
I don't have the issue. Not everyone is having it. Most people with that issue are having other issues like overheating.
