i hope someone can help.... just got my bolt back together, activated it at verizon and now all i have is 1x... decided to use revolutionary to try and gain s-off to try a different radio... lo and behold the device will charge via usb, but not connect to the computer. so i pulled it apart again and inspected the board... perfect. no signs of damage, no water, nothing.....
back together it went, this time my board in my wifes housing (just in case the antennae were goofed... ya never know) hers has full 4g... mine... 1x...
so... rebooted into bootloader (forgot you had to have s-off to flash radio files, moving on from that) and selected hboot usb... and whaddya know... my computer recognizes it.. for a split second, calls it an unknown device and says noway to drivers (i have hboot drivers and such, have used it to root 3 or four bolts so far...)
now, i'm at a loss. customer support claims to have done everything in their power, my sim is correct, and is reporting my correct imei to verizon...
my thought is that it is software related, seeing as how it will recognize usb in bootloader mode, but nowhere else... and that the radio file is preventing it from getting proper signal.
also, her sim gets 1x only in my phone, and mine gets 4g in hers. and i am on old skool software 1.12.605.6... but the upgrade is forcing me to use 1x... and i would love to have it in this century...
please please please halp. i have exactly three internets to award to the solver of this puzzle... GOGOGOGO!!!!
got the software update to take last night through wifi finally... but still no bueno.
guess its back to bugging customer support....

Hi there.
I need help with my Hero.
Two weeks ago it got water damaged. I dried it out, and got it all working again (this surprised me), but then on Thursday it stopped connecting to my network (T-Mob UK), giving a Your SIM does not allow connections to this network error.
Now, the radio works as far as I can tell - I can connect to Wi-Fi fine, and when I go to chose your network section it shows me T-Mob, Orange, O2 and Vodafone, so I think the GSM etc. radios are working.
I've tried putting it in my old SE handset, but that has a ****ed Radio, so not got anything conclusive. But it has received messages, so I'm not sure if it is the sim directly at fault.
I've also tried to use an O2 sim in the hero (unlocked) to no luck.
So I would guess its something wrong with the connection between the sim slot, and the sim, or between the slot and the main-board.
But is there anything I can do to test this? Any recommendations for repairs?
Thanks

If it is definitely the phone and not the Sim, you would be best off getting it professionally acid bathed or what ever a phone shop suggests, the back street unlocking ones would normally do it for £15 and that should sort any oxidized solder joints out that could be causing the issue.
If you want to do it your self then take all the screen and bits off your self, lay the main board in ethanol for 12 hours then let it drip dry, give it a gentle buff with a cotton bud and re try! This is just a suggestion so don't go blaming me when you phone explodes!!
Dear all,
I have a Legend with S-ON (1.01), and I used fake-flash to change ROMs. The mobile phone has been fine with a custom ROM for more than 3 months now.
Suddenly, 3 days ago, the phone rebooted while browsing settings and when it came back on, the device could not recognize the SIM card or connect to the network and get a signal.
The problem is weird because the device (a) can find networks if I search for them, (b) can make emergency calls, (c) connects normally to both wi-fi and the SIM 3G internet but does not:
- get signal (always zero lines)
- recognize the sim card (always asks me to rescan for new contacts, and the process fails)
I tried wiping everything, I tried reflashing, I tried flashing another ROM. The problem persists.
Would flashing a new RADIO potentially help? It is the only thing I have not tried.
I am really at a loss here. The device did not fall down, or had a knock or any other user damage. The problem started suddenly and i can'f find a way out of it.
Anyone who manages to find me a solution gets a paypal beer
PS: Something important is that the phone DOES know that SIM card is there, and DOES partially recognize it: I am asked to put my SIM card PIN, which is accepted correctly.
Hey
What I'd do:
1.)Try the SIM in another device - could be a SIM problem...
2.) As you are 1.01, there is no risk in Warranty repair, so unroot and send back to shop if the sim proves OK in another device..
Probably a stupid suggestion but i had at one point no service when my battery cover was not on...
When i was rooting mine, i kept the battery cover off because i was stuck so many times in the middle of running step 1... so never bothered putting the battery cover on...
after i succeeded in rooting, i still saw no service... but as soon as i put the battery cover on , i was able to pick up the network
@QkSi1ver: The Legend's antenna is located in the battery cover, which is why you would have had no reception with it removed.

Which could be the reason for the SIM problems : if it is not set correctly it can't communicate proper with the mobile , that's why it asks for searching for contacts ( I had a similar problem a few months ago )
no network signal!

i don´t believe it! first of all, thank u kindly for ending my nightmarish odyssey through expert forums across the globe!
that just did the trick, uber cool! and yet it sucks, because i wasted most of my sunday and half of today to solve this, wondering why nobody even mentioned connection probs.
maan, i´m tired, i´m going to bed!
When I first tried cdma workshop to set spc, I connected with com port 3. But I didnt have sim card yet, and now I cant connect on any port this time.
I cant find anything on searches as to why I cant connect like I did the first time. I've been doing the research but run into a wall on this.
Can you help?
Been without a phone now for 2 weeks (dropped old phone in the swimming pool, chose Rezound, ebay... shipping wait... ebay for sim... wait... etc.)
My goal is to follow another thread to get the page plus prl and basically run this phone on page plus 3g.
Its been 2+ years since I had to do all this, and I'm quite rusty. I'm excited about this great upgrade from that tired old Eris
Hellu!
A friend of mine dropped her SGS2 accidentally into the bathtub but was quick to retrieve it. After drying it she got it to run but there was no response from the USB port so she couldn't recharge it. I replaced the USB flex and while having it hooked to the computer I upgraded it to the latest firmware through KIES, all official and no trouble. Gave it back and now she can't get signal... Problem is that I don't know if the signal trouble was before I replaced the USB port incase I "broke" something while fixing it.
No signal, no mobile network. I get no signal and can't make any connections to any provider.
Things I've been trying and reading up on..
IMEI is correct, the EFS folder intact ("mount" in Terminal emulator) and backed up also.
Opened up the phone again to check if internal antenna was attached to the sockets and everything else secured.
Tried different SIM cards which it accepts except for no signal
Factory reset
Flashed a lower ICS (4.0.3), changed CSC, tried different basebands
Rooted the phone and did a complete reset from CWM (dalvik, format system, cache the wholeshobang)
Internet wifi works, the signal strenght is stuck on "-111 dBm 1 asu"
The whole time after the water accident she's been having the phone with her without the backcase, leaving it open. I read that if you connect a external antenna it will override the internal one and get stuck.. I though maybe keys or something metal in her purse got in contact with it?! (I know, far stretched)
Perhaps the USB flex replacement is bad since one end of the internal antenna is attached to it. I could try to replace it back to the bad usb flex.
OR... Perhaps it's just another failure due to the water accident...
Phone seems to be in great shape except for missing it's main purpose, being able to call
Help

Nope, tried it and no go, seems more like there is a hardware failure after all, any more ideas?
Tried another USB flex to see if that was the problem but no.. . Anyone?
Ok.. Replaced the GSM/speaker part located at the backpart now and still no signal. Well.. When i reboot the phone I get a connection and may be able to make a short phonecall then it's just back to no signal.
Been reading up alot and I found out there is some kinda "no service bug" that exists, but all the solutions there didn't work so good.
I have same problem on a i9300 gonna see if it's antenna problem or something. And post back of I got lucky
Seems like the phone needs to get some service center time.....
BTW never connect anything to the external antenna socket.
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
I have a similar problem with a i9300. Is there a way to check if modem or antenna is not working? I remember about read a few days ago than android throw some errores when modem is not working
I recently bought a new HTC One M8 (AT&T) off of eBay. When it came i set it up and it was still on KitKat 4.4.2. The WiFi had some weird problems on that, but i just chalked it up to it being an old OS. I manually updated to 6.0 using the AT&T RUU tool from HTCs website, and everything looked to be fine, until i got to the setup. When it asked me to select a WiFi network, i selected the one that is the router in my room. Come to find out that unless the phone is pointed directly at the router and less then a foot away from it, i get 1-2 bars, or nothing at all. It barely connects (or even shows) any of the access points in my house either, and when it does they all say 1-2 bars. I still have my old HTC One M8 (T-Mobile) and the wifi works perfect on there, full/strong connection anywhere in the house, and it shows all the access points in my house. I have no idea whats going on, i already tried wiping the cache partition, and factory resetting.
P.S. I don't have a plan for mobile, so mobile data is turned off already (on both phones). Help?
I don't think there is much else you can do. If you did RUU, and still having WiFi problems, the device may have a hardware issue.
