[Q] Use BT mouse with GT 10.1? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently got my Galaxy Tab. Having around an Apple wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse, I decided to give them a try with the tab (I know it is a little ironic to use those two together given the legal war that is going on between the two companies ).
The keyboard worked perfectly (it paired and connected at first try).
The mouse also paired and connected at first try, but it just doesn't work. I am not getting a cursor, as it happens on my gf's GT P1000.
Anyone ever tried or made it work with an apple mouse or any other bluetooth mouse? Any ideas or workarounds? Thanks!
Regards,
Marius

Yes,...it works fine
I have a the Kensington Slimblade BT mouse and it works fine. This maybe a bit old technology, since I have it more than a year (using it also on my laptop)
I also have the small Apple BT keyboard - and it also works....sort-of. Sometimes te keys seems to get stuck and since it is created for the Apple envirnment, there are some 'dead keys' and some options missing.

I use my Dell compact BT mouse with no issues. I also use a Logitech diNovo keyboard. The two BT devices almost turn my GTab into a mini desktop.

The Apple Magic Mouse won't work...this is a known issue. It will pair but that's it.
The Apple Bluetooth Keyboard works fine with the 10.1. I've had no problems and like using it.
I've had no problems with Mircosoft's 5000 Bluetooth mouse pairing and operating the Tab. It makes for a great remote control!

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

I have a similar issue. I bought a Speedlink Snappy SL-6158 Bluetooth mouse for approx 10 dollar and was thrilled to see it work on my Galaxy S3, so I thought it would work on my Tab2 as well. Wrong thinking. It paires just fine, but it will not show a cursor and does not react on the buttons.
Is there any solution for this problem, or did I just wasted 10 bucks?

I use a cheap bt mouse I got eBay and works fine here too...

Could you tell me what type of mouse this is?
And can anybody tell me if this can be solved by rooting and using a custom rom?

Bluetooth Keyboard

Does the Photon only work with the Motorola BT keyboard? I have tried 2 BT keyboards I already have and I cannot get them to pair with the phone. I tried both the 0000 and 1234 passkeys the phone tells me but neither works. Neither of my keyboards came with passkeys. Thanks in advance for any help you folks can offer.
I just paired mine to an Apple Wireless Keyboard (bluetooth) that I had laying arond and it worked fine.
Random note about pairing an apple keyboard though:
After the phone asks you to put in a pin number and you hit ok, immediately type the same pin into the keyboard and hit enter. Then it will pair fine.
Hmm I will have to give that entering the key on the keyboard a try.
Yup that did the trick. I am using the Targus tablet keyboard and I did as you said, I entered the passkey on the phone and as soon as I hit OK I entered the same number on the keyboard and hit enter and boom I was in business. Only thing though I don't know if your using SPb 3D shell but I had to uninstall it because everytime I connect the keyboard the whole SPB shell crashes. Anyone else using SPB 3D shell experience this?
Sorry, I'm not using that. Is it a launcher? I'm using launcher pro.

I got the mini bluetooth keyboard from Amazon to work. Works pretty well so far. The layout is a little funky and I haven't found a way to quickly send when texting.

Any others with a good functioning fold away keyboard and portable mouse for this device and perhaps usable for tablet pc's that support BT?

Best product I have seen for portability/functionality: Logitech diNovo Mini
In theory, should any keyboard that properly implements canonical Bluetooth HID work with the Photon (at least, well enough to work properly with Connectbot, including cursor keys)? Or in more concrete terms, has anybody found a Bluetooth HID keyboard that worked with Cyanogen, but DIDN'T work as expected on a Photon with stock firmware?
(by the way, I'm also open to suggestions for a keyboard that can be non-awkwardly pocketed, and is suitable for both panic-stricken sysadmin work with Connectbot involving bash & SQL *and* casual web browsing while eating at BK. I could almost deal with one that's "phone-like" as long as the center-to-center key pitch is at least as wide as the Epic, it has a number row, and the symbols are in the right places... but with more empty space surrounding the keys so I won't have to press with my fingertip to avoid pressing an adjacent key. I'd totally kill for the folding Jorno KB I saw on Wired & Gizmodo, but it looks like THAT one won't actually be available until 2012 even though they started sending out press releases and demo units last year).
Update: does anybody have an opinion (good, bad, awesome-if-it-worked-but-it-doesn't, etc) about this particular keyboard:
http://www.dracotek.com/bluetooth-w...e-smartphones-pc-laptop-and-more-bfkip01.html
It looks like the latest incarnation of the 4-way folding keyboard design that's been around since at least the Palm V (now, with bluetooth and USB-recharged lithium battery). I really like it (on paper, at least), because it's the only keyboard like this I've ever found that has all the keys I care about in the right places. I've been lusting after a keyboard like this for literally years, but it seems like my phones have always been one version away from compatibility with it (sigh). Now that I have a phone that literally knows how to deal with proper Bluetooth HID out of the box, I'm dying to finally buy one the moment I have an excuse to believe it's likely to work ;-)
I picked up the Official Moto Keyboard at Target for $48 - Normally $69.99 - it was marked as clearance - couldn't pass it up
Connected and works very well with the Hacked webtop

That worked with the CE Compass Mini Bluetooth as well. If only the documentation had mentioned that critical step.
The CE Compass bluetoothhas a mouse ponter control, uses AAA batteries, and is cheaper than Logitech but probably not as robust.
It is about half the size of an iPad. So it could go into a big pocket.
Thanks to follow
Well, for what it's worth, I've successfully paired and used both a DiNovo keyboard and MX900 mouse. I haven't bought a pocketable keyboard though. At the moment, I'm trying to find an app compatible with the Hero that can emulate a real, honest to god Bluetooth HID keyboard and Mouse (99% of the apps in Android Market don't emulate HID, and require a special server app that doesn't work on phones/tablets at the other end). If I can get the Hero to work and pair with my Photon as its keyboard/mouse, I'll be psyched... I already own it, it's just sitting in a drawer anyway, it's half the size of actual pocketable bluetooth keyboards with mouse capabilities, and I can do Graffiti on it instead of fumbling with keys scaled for a midget

the first one is the cheapest. i believe the other ones are just a lil newer. just make sure u order bluetooth and not 2.4ghz.
Those look nice but don't need a touch pad tho. I never use webtop not found myself ib a situation to need to use webtop since my laptop is always near by. I'm just looking for a mini keyboard that will work.

[Q] Bluetooth Keyboard Recomendations?

Looking for Bluetooth keyboard recommendations.
Tried a Freedom with an old blackberry I had (way back when), but didn't function very well.
Seriously doubt it would work with my SGS2, but I'll give it a shot once I'm back in the office.
Anyone have any experience?
Foldable or compact is a bonus
Best I've tried so far is the HP Touchpad Bluetooth Keyboard. Works great with any and all android, iOS, and other Bluetooth devices.

No luck with my original freedom.
No drivers to load with android.
Anyone else have any luck with the modern Freedom keyboards?
Road whore that needs something a bit more compact....
Logitech DiNovo Mini works perfectly with the SGSII. I use it esp when I have my phone plugged into the TV. Works perfectly.
I use a cheap microsoft bluetooth keyboard. Not exactly portable but it gets the job done.
I have one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Original-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad/dp/B004723V1M/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1320187017&sr=8-27
This works great with the SGS2 as well as any computer with BT and also the Playstation 3.
The mousepad will even give you a cursor on the SGS2 screen.
Even has a built in laser pointer.
Pay close attention to the pairing procedure as it is a little tricky.
Atrix Bluetooth Keyboard Works
This keyboard works great except that when you press SHIFT to capitalize a letter, it stays locked until you type another letter and backspace over it. I'm thinking of returning it. Otherwise, it's nice to have all the dedicated keys for Android on the keyboard.
Did u have to do anything special to connect ur hp keyboard, because mine pairs but wont connect. Any ideas?

I have the HP as well, works perfectly with our phone. Now here's the bad.news it won't connect at all on 2.3.6 custom.or stock firmware. Bluetooth hid is broken it's not just the keyboard but mouse or anything else Bluetooth.hid. You can always revert back to.any 2'3.4 rom and it will be fine. Now.if for some reason your on.2.3.4 and can't get it to connect let me know and I'll trouble shoot it with you. Mine pairs also in 2.3.6 but it can't connect because no bthid

Bluetooth Keyboards?

Has anyone had any luck pairing Bluetooth keyboards with the DX2?
I was looking at one of the mini-BT keyboards on Amazon.
I was wondering if anyone had already tried a similar device and knew for a fact that HID Keyboards would pair correctly with a Droid X2 (No Root)
Or is there a better small BT keyboard out there?
I was wondering the same thing. I'm probably going to buy the one by Verbatim. It has a nice carrying case. I'll let you know how it is.

I've got a motorola bluetooth keyboard and it pairs with my x2 just fine. I'm running cm7 now but I've tried most of the roms available and it's worked fine with any of them. Biggest problem is figuring out all the shortcut keys. A google search will help ya out there though.
Just experimented with this myself today. I got it to work using a Logitech MediaBoard Pro. Worked nice because it has a small touchpad built in. Usually use it with my PS3, but had it hooked up to my TV via HDMI and was surfing around. Kinda nice, because I can just dock it in the media dock, then sit back on the couch and control it.
I'm on stock 2.3.4.
I can confirm that bluetooth HID devices work quite well. I am typing right now from my Zippy bluetooth keyboard and I am also paired with a bluetooth mouse. They are both HID devices and I have tried this setup while I was on my stock rooted DX2 2.3.4, and now that I am running Eclipse 2.04. By the way the zippy keyboard was the cheapest I could find about a year ago and it gets the job done. Oh this also work in tandem with an HDMI connections to my tv.

Mouse + keyboard

So i ordered mouse and keyboard BT to use with mine flyer. Specialy with BT5 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445337
Mouse: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2933#ov
Pairs no problem and works great.
Keyboard: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271016003248&ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
will report once recived.
BT + Flyer + mouse is great!
I tried a Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard, but without a mouse.
Since the operating system was designed for touch navigation, the keyboard is not very helpful for any navigation, but I'd be curious how the combo improves the experience. Please follow up when you get it hooked up.
Will do, ofc. Still w8ing on keyboard. Usually takes up to 4 weeks due to free shiping via Hong Kong post.
Ok so i finally recive the item (long shipment). Pairs good along with mouse and headset so all 3 devices can be used at same time. Atm looks like all base stuff works no problem. However i need to reinstal Back Track linux on mine Flyer since i had some migration in this time; will report how its gona work when i conect flyer to monitor and use mouse and keyboard in linux on Flyer. Will take few days as i am hold up by rl.
I ordered the Motorola Android Keyboard + Mouse and it should arrive in a couple of days. I too am curious how the combo works, I hope everything will be GREAT.
I really want one! Does anyone know of any inexpensive ones avalible in sweden?
Really?

So you mean to say you switch it on...and scan with your tab and see it and pair and connect and it works..(OFC there is no use or mini receiver)...am i right?
Further will all these 2.4 Ghz wireless mouse have BT or its an addon feature? Bcoz i was not able to find(by scanning) my mouse with similar tech like this one http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Optical-Mouse-Switch-Black/dp/B003SWLRLS/
Kindly be detailed. Thanks

Wireless Keyboard and SGT 7 2

If keyboard is bluetooth then will work with tab 2 without otg but u knw there are bluetooth keyboards that u must put a usb into ur device so that they work wirelessly
That needs otg abt the smart tv idk as I dont have one
I have 3 USB ports on my TV, so there wont be problem with it, i just needed to know if tab 2 supports BT keyboards
Of course
ok, and can somebody recommend me something better than Logitech K400
I tried the k400. I took it back. You need OTG cable to use K400 with our tabs.
I use Rii RT-UMK-100-BT. Its like a mini K400. I like it a lot.

I bought the Play Station 3 Keyboard (Bluetooth) - it works. I bought it for only 10 € (last one in the shop )
Only Problem - No German Layout possible without an app using "External Keyboard Helper" will fix it.
I´m on Galaxy Tab 2.7 CM 10.1.1 ; same problem on a P5110 Stock (no root).
Any ideas how to get it work without an app (German QWERTZ) ?
something in the build.prop?
Changing ro.product.locale.language=en and ro.product.locale.region=US to ro.product.locale.language=de and ro.product.locale.region=DE ?

No it depends on the rom you are using because the languages are in the csc folder and I am BUMPING THIS THREAD
Im using a Bluetooth Keyboard from ANKER.
Perfect layout, quite small, fast connected almost perfect!
ANKER Keyboard
I love it and use it to write a book
OK, it's an old topic, but anyway... Microsoft Wedge BT keyboard works perfectly for me. The only thing I don't like about it is the protruding part at the bottom (where the battery compartment is) -- I would prefer a flat design. But functionally, it's a great keyboard.

Those are NOT bluetooth keyboards -- they use proprietary RF transceivers. If it really is a BT peripheral, you don't need to plug in anything extra, as long as your host is BT-capable.
Cheap option...but
I bought a "aluminum" keyboard for my Tab 2 7. In reality it was plastic with an aluminum color. It fits the tab as a case and is BT. It works fine and I payed all of US $15.
The down side is the keys are very small so no way for my fat fingers to touch type. If I don't look and concentrate I hit 2 keys at a time. But I have been using it for the last 9 months.
Found it on Ebay.
