Hi team,
One of my friend was trying to upgrade his Ace to the new gingerbread firmware but the phone seems to have stopped working. He tried connecting to kies and upgrade. Once the download of firmware got downloaded the phone went to downloading mode and message firmware upgrade failed. Now the kies is not recognizing the phone and even the emergency recovery is not working.
When the phone is switched on the phone shows a computer and phone image with an excalmantion mark..Any idea what has happened? and how to get back the phone in working condition?
A quick response would be real helpful.

That poor phone is bricked by the heartlessness of Kies users .
Cannot withstand stuff if using just a MSM7227 with Adreno 200 using XDA App
ive had that screen before. unplug the battery from the device, hold vol down+home+on button like u would go into download mode. without releasing those three keys combination, insert the battery. now it should magically go into download mode. btw its hard to do this by urself, need someone to help u insert the battery while u hold the three button

Use Odin to flash the phone . Make sure Kies is totally closed (even the task manager process is killed) then flash the phone .

Hi All
my friend tried to install some rom, but i have a soft brick ( phone ! PC )
i downloaded the firmware I9100XWKDD from: androidadvices.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-2-i9100-tutorial
and tried to burn it with Odin3 v1.85, I put the firmware tar in PDA
at first the odin stuck in rootfs step
then on my second try it stuck on boot.bin step
what can i do in order to fix the phone??
i know there is a newer firmware i dont care about new or old just fix the phone
Or i just need something else to do

Try it again. As long as you are able to reach Download Mode try to flash a firmware via Odin.
What OS are you using anyway? Make sure nothing is blocking Odin processes, I always Disable my NIS before starting Odin.

I tried three times now it stuck in the boot.bin
i am using windows 7 (running as admin)
i dont think windows is blocking because if it was, i couldn't start the process
and yes i can enter download mode i dont want to make things worse...
Tried with USB debugging enabled?
Something must blocking the process mate, I never had a connection prob!
so
The Phone is not start.... i have the (Phone ! PC) sign,
so i can only enter to download mode...
and again the flash process starts and stuck in the middle.
what else can block the odin?

Ok i will try to restart my PC i hope it will help.
i will do it later this evening
the fw i am trying to flash is I9100XWKDD, and as i stated it seems that the current one is Corrupted.
if you have more ideas i will be happy to hear. thanks for the help so far
Make sure Kies is not running in the background, that could potentially block flashing

I see.. That was my fault
@OP: just to make sure download the fw again then restart your pc.. For me when i flashed my sgsl (will get and s2 soon) it was stuck in system then sometimes cache (flashed without pc restart) but when i restarted my pc everything was ok

So i managed to flash the phone
ok guys,
I downloaded the file again,
I charged the battery up to 100%
I restarted the computer and checked that nothing is blocking my ports
then used odin to Flash the phone

First of all you need to calm down.
Then you need to ask that buddy of yours exactly what he did.
Post how much ever information you can get. In the mean time put the phone on charging.

Can u go into download mode ? Volume Down+ Home button + Power button ?
You dont need to go into any mode, you can connect and flash by Odin while PHONE ! PC logo is displayed, just flash it again and be more careful in what you are doing.
The trouble is you don't know what your original rom was... If your mate just flashed a new rom on without knowing what was needed he may have flashed a custom rom onto a carrier rom... This is not easily fixable if you don't know what your carrier or stock rom was...
Just because someone has flashed their phone doesn't mean they know what they're doing. If its NOT the same phone, don't hand over your rather expensive toy...

I can't go to download mode..many time i'm trying to make it..just be like that only,when i put on charging,the screen screen still like that..hurm..anyone can explain to me,how can i do??my friend said,his friend pull out the cable from the fon when he flash the rom into fon..then when he restart fon and want go to download mode...that screen come out..and won't go to download mode..

Hi,
I have tried to update my galaxy s2 with Kies but the update fails
Now when i turn on my phone it says "Firmware update encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
How can I replace the original firmware?
It was a Vodafone-it Firmware.

yes it goes in download mode but i don't know what i have to do after that becouse Kies tell me that it doesn't see the phone and askme a code for replace the firmware....
Your phone is perfectly fine so Don't panic. You have to use Odin to flash stock firmware. Ask some other member for help regarding Odin. As I have to go for some work. And specify your phone's model no. Must be on the sticker that is on your phone below the battery..

I told you to tell the model no. And then we could tell you what files and which Odin. Maybe you have a variant 9100g which is Omap4 and you flashed exynos files on it..

My Galaxy SIII is dead.. 4 weeks ago It randomly went to the Splash screen about 5 minutes after me using it, for some unknown reason and hasnt worked since, the eBay app kept crashing a few days before and then i updated the app, the next day my phone broke?!?!..
Phone is about 4months old and the screen has a small crack at the bottom (did this a week after i got it and doesn't affect phone) i sent my phone off for repairs but o2 sent it back and said warranty is void because the screen is broke.. So they won't touch it.
I have no knowledge of flash and firmware however after doing a bit of research this last week i've downloaded Odin3 but no flash/firmware to go with!
The phone no longer powers on, it used to just go to the splash screen but freeze, now it wont even do that.
I can open download mode, but when i plug my phone into my laptop although it makes the connection sound, Kie's can't connect it will only attempt to connect (& fail) when it's in download mode too.. I've re-downloaded the samsung usb drivers, but no joy.
When i charge it, the battery loading symbol comes up but again it freezes at this?
I've tried recovery mode but it will only load the splash screen, then thats it, it freezes on that...
Any ideas? Does anyone know the o2 united kingdom flash firmware?

If you can get into download mode make sure to turn off kies, also check the task manager, as it does not play well with odin, or just uninstall kies as odin its better anyway. You can find all firmware on sammobile.com, give it a try.

I've tried looking on sammobile but no idea how to find the right software i'm looking for.. I don't know how to use the sight, when i've connected to Odin3, my phone is connecting to it (download mode only) so assuming it means i still have hope? On sammobile.com go to firmware and there you got several filters that you can use to see for instance all UK o2 firmwares.

Simple method is to use CHECKFUS asnd download the O2 firmware and flash via Odin .

Thank you for reply.. I've downloaded the o2 firmware and flash and did it step by step via odin with someone talking me through it, but it failed.. The guy who helped me is a dev for verizon and he said that because that wasn't working, my phone is completely bust & i need a new one...
I got at&t sgh-i717 given to me it turned on but i notiiced when it boots up it says its a note 3 and now it will not charge please can it be fixed

I just want to be clear on the state of the phone. Does it have any charge left? Can you access the download screen? If you can access the download screen you can just use Odin to flash your original ROM back.
(Hold power button and volume down button at the same time until the phone vibrates. Then let go of the power button but keep holding the volume down until the download screen pops up.)

Any luck? If so I just had a thought.
My phone the I717R (Rogers) in Canada can't use Samsung Kies to restore the phone.
However if your phone is the ATT version and it can enter download mode you should be able to use Samsung Kies to restore to factory settings.
You'll just need to enter firmware upgrade and initialization I'm pretty sure it's called. Then you'll type in the model and serial number found under the battery and Kies will do the rest.

i got it charged went into download mode my computer will not pick it up is there anything else in camn do

Did you install Samsung KIES first? It should automatically install the driver you need.
Also when you put it in to download mode do it while the phone is unplugged, then plug the phone in.
Let us know what happens, sure we'll figure it out.

Try this link.
That's from the Samsung site for the I717 driver only. See if your computer picks up your phone after installing that.
If that doesn't work you may just want to use ODIN. I'll tell you everything you'd need to know to do that just don't have time ATM.

are you using the oem cable? i can only get odin to pick up on my device with the oem one, my generic one just wont work for crap with odin.

that sucks, sorry to hear that. i would start fresh and uninstall the sammy drivers reboot the comp afterwards, reinstall drivers reboot once again, put the device into download with out firing up odin and see if that will help. I've noticed this device can be a bit finicky when it comes to drivers or maybe we are a few of the unlucky ones lol. I too have been having drivers issues lately regarding mtp and its been driving me nuts.
