You better hope it's not the digitizer going bad... I had the same problem a while ago and the only fix was ... a new digitizer, after which, evertything worked fine.
Try to backup and reinstall the ROM or install a different one to see if the problem persists.
Digitizers for these phones are notorious for failure. My first Legend had a bad digitizer within three months of use. The second phone has been working fine for the past six months. Knock on wood.
i have to change 2 screen on warranty. then my legend work properly
maybe your screen is bad

Hi first of all sorry about my English.
Ok my phone has an at&t froyo i just install superuser, slide loading, the weptop hack and the sim unlocked.
I'm using spb 3d launcher and every time i do a restart it seems that the spb it's working on his on, if a let it awake charging some times it's go to some shortcut like if i press it but i didn't (that didn't bother me too much ).
but two days ago one part of the top of the touch screen stop working i can't select the shortcuts on the top of the screen. and yersterday the phone got possessed and start opening thinks randomly. i just uninstall spb and it seems to stop with the gibberish. but today it's the same i can't use phone because i just simple touch the screen and it start again with the gibberish movements.
i'm going to do a restore and i if that fix the gibberish but the part of the screen that doesn't respond is what i worry the most. I'm from Tijuana, Mexico i buy the atrix on craiglist from some guy in san diego, ca. he said that the phone was warranty until feb 2012.
Please help any one
I reset my phone and still the same parts of the screen does not respond and the screen start shaking and doing thing uncontrol.
Please could be sw or is the hardware and i need to change the phone.
Sounds like a hardware problem.
Not sure what the problem could be.....there's a girl I know who's had similar problems, I'll ask her or put you in touch with her. Sounds like yer digitizer?

I am having the same issue, this was on CM7 only flashed yesterday and then I tried to restore my backup rom and this has the same issue??
Hope someone can sort out the problem.
It sounds like a hardware problem in which you should;
A) buy a whole new screen and install it (they will give you the tools to take it apart)
B) Send it back to Motorola if you haven't voided your warranty by unlocking the phone
or
C) this is a long shot as I do think it is hardware related, you should try this fix just to be sure that it is a hardware problem. Mind you this will do nothing more than refresh the .pds file that affects the touchscreen. Touchscreen fix!
definetly sounds like a broken digitizer to me
I have taken my phone in for repair(Not a official MOTO repairer) and I just got a phone call, he believes it is a software issue? I am not convinced, because I have tried 4 different roms? He said he is going to format/wipe phone. I told him I have installed roms to replace software and I thought that this would wipe/replace software problem?
Anyway I guess, I will found out if it sorts out the random screen movement and widget press?

I got the phone back yesterday, all working ok.
I quickly broke it again by trying to install a stock rom and then root it, but it introduced the same random screen/widget issues(I tried wipe/format, but no good?). I then install 2 custom rom, CM7 and Aura and I still had problems, then I install HomeBase and problem has been sorted. Have no idea why it fixed the issue just happy it is fixed. Just to have refrain from installing other roms......for now anyway

I spoke to soon, last night it started the random screen judder and random widget pressing.....
I am not sure what is going on....I've had the phone for about 12 days now(second hand from eBay) and for the first 4-5 days the phone was fine. I then installed CM7 and for about 12-24 hours the phone was ok. Then the random screen/widget issues happened. Did many, many wipe's/formats of various roms and all these issue occurred more or less straight away.
Then I installed HomeBase and for about 6-8 hours, all was ok until lastnight. I guess it is either new motherboard time or new phone time....
Hello xda community!
History: Yesterday I bought a jailbroken LG p990 off craigslist. All seemed fine, I could tell the guy had opened it up, but it was put back together nicely, no scratches - basically out of the box.
Problem: When I got home, I tried the camera app, but it kept crashing and timing out. On occasions I could get past the crash but the camera preview was black, and when I took a picture it would just capture a green screen. Now my first inclination was that the camera was broken, but the behavior from the app it's self is puzzling. When I get past the crash, it runs slow is delayed and just does not work properly at all. So what I am wondering is if this can be caused by faulty frimware/kernel after the jailbreak.
My Troubleshooting: I am new to rooting/jailbreaking/rom/kernel flashing so I spent about 6 hours learning as much as I could yesterday. After alot of reading, I figured a flash of the rom/kernel might reset the firmware for the camera app: (similar problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841750). Got my self familiar with CWM and flashed a few different ROMs and Kernals onto the phone to no avail. (Dominationm, Cyanogenmod 7).
Other Options: Since I am so new to ROM/Kernel flashing, I may have not chosen the right flash - so I am wondering what might work (if this is the case). Another reason im guessing this isnt working is that when the guy put the phone back together, he didn't connect the camera properly. (I know enough to take a phone apart and put it back together so thats my next venture). *OR* the camera is just broken and I got scammed.
What I need help with from the XDA community: Could someone venture a reason as to why this might be happening? Can a camera's firmware break after jailbreaking or rooting? Is there a ROM/Kernel that can fix this issue or even a patch?
*Interesting link on a patch for similar camera issue with 4.0.4 non stock kernels*: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772931

Thanks for taking the time ladies and gents. :fingers-crossed:
I've got a Jiayu G3N (s501 Chip) and there's this issue that started yesterday, where there's a half-inch horizontal area about 3/4 down my screen that doesn't respond to touch. It's kind of like this one, but mine's horizontal:
http://www.youtube.c...ed/zIuDN8A2rGs
I've had this issue before where the keyboard goes unresponsive, but a simple back-reload of the keyboard fixed it, (might be unrelated) but this same area has now been permanently unresponsive and not just the keyboard.
What happened was I've had a friend with a faulty SD Card, and he tried it on my phone to see if it works and it's not his phone's SD Slot at fault. The process took us a few Boot-Poweroff sequence, and in the last one it's where I noticed that area was not responding to touch any longer. (This could not have been the reason - or, it's the bootup - poweroff sequence was the one that did the damage, but not quite sure)
I was on Lolfisch v1.0 at the time. Tried rolling back to stock ICS using SP Flash Tool, formatted my own MicroSD Card, still nothing. It's at this point I'm considering doing an RMA with Merimobiles, so I've contacted them about it. The rep told me to email the Tech Support, and of course I did. They said they'd honor the one year warranty they have if it's indeed hardware issue, as they are still in process of looking for an update that can possibly fix that issue (I doubt there is any update, since my Stock ROM is the last and only Official ROM Jiayu released for the G3N) I got my phone last April - so two months into use and I got this damage.
Details of my Stock ROM:
Baseband: Maui.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V5.2012/07/2 20:13
Kernel : 3.0.13 [email protected] #1 SMP Preemt Sat Feb 23 07:13:56 CST 2013
Build : G3N 20130223-071508
Anyways, I still have the issues with stock ROM. Tried Lolfisch one again, and still the same thing. From ICS to JB back and forth, still no joy. Tried it with and without SD Card, still nothing. All the possibilities of anything software-related I've tried so it's definitely Hardware issue (probably Digitizer)
Anybody got the same issue? I will update the community on how this goes, as well as how Merimobiles deals with this kinds of issues and their RMA procedures.
TIA
UPDATE: Now there's another half-inch unresponsive area just a few lines above the original one. The phone just sat on my table, and when I unlocked it, I noticed a new unresponsive area. The phone's just degrading each day.
UPDATE 2: Now there are a lot more unresponsive areas and has even extended to my capacitive buttons..RMA is here, 2 months to get it back..

Hello,
I'm having the same problem. How did you solve yours? Changing the digitizer seems to be the only option.
Regards.

The first time it happened, Jiayu replaced the entire handset..
2nd time, it's still here with me and still broken..
and yes, seems like replacing the digitizer is the only solution..
maybe Jiayu cheaped out in this material since the entire phone's materials are great, including the battery..

Hi everyone, hope you can help me beacause im at my witts end.
In the last year, my galaxy s2's screen has occasionally stopped responding, the os was still running and everything so it wasnt frozen, my touch screen just simply stopped working. Only way to fix it was to hit the back of the phone and do a battery reset. This issue started poping up more and more, and now it won't respond.
Some info you might want to know:
Model: GT-I9100M
Age:~2 1/2 years old
No custom roms/kernels have ever been installed, has always run off the stock.
Never been dropped or had water on it (I took very good care of it)
The nav bar at the bottom (back/search/options/menue) and hardware buttons all work. Everything above the screen no longer works.
What iv done:
Iv reset the phone, did a bettery pull for the night, fully charged it, looked at the board and checked all the connections (all good). Would flashing a custom rom/kernel be something to try next? I read in a forum that someone had a similar issue to me and did that, but it didnt help.
Has anyone had a similar issue with their touchscreen? Why would the bottom nav bar work but no the rest of the screen? Could it be locked somehow? If it is.. how would I unlock it?
Thanks alot guys..

Thing is, it didn't worked worse and worse, but it just worked well one day, and the other day it was terrible, and it still works equally terrible. I never rooted or flashed my phone and never sleeped on it so I think that's not the problem.

Hey, I'm having the same issue with my Xperia Neo (MT15i). :crying:
My phone is nearly 2 years old. I have used Gingerbread, then ICS, Jelly Bean (Rooted-Cyanagenmod). I had no issue with the touch screen earlier. Since the phone performs bit slow on advanced android versions I decided to install Gingerbread again to make it faster.
From the day I installed GB again, I'm having this issue.
Gotta swipe about 4 times to answer or reject a call. (Even I do press power button to off the screen, then power button again only then swipe works)
Swipe about 4 times to unlock the screen.
Try the pattern about 4 times.
I believe it's a software issue. If it's a hardware issue touch screen should not be working at all right? The thing is, it only malfunctions like that for the first 4~5 touches when the screen turned on. After that the whole touch screen works perfectly.
I was using my phone rooted for a long time without any issue. This started when I tried to flash gingerbread again in last month. I flashed another gingerbread tft, but the problem still remains.
Today I flashed the kernel to FusioN v5.5 and installed MIUI 5, still the issue is there...

i am totally confused bro what to do!!! on a very day i went to a hardware technicians shop to solve the problem!! they said it may be hardware problem but did not say surely!!!!!!! i am looking forward a kind help from any expert of this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm having the same.i have tried anything but still same issue.
Hello people!
I had the same problem when 2 of my friends tried to pull the phone vigorously! -_-
I had to swipe 4-5 to get it to respond and the screen would act weird for another couple of seconds! -_-
Tried Factory Reset etc but still no use!
So I took it to the service center and they said it could be the digitizer(screen) problem but not sure, and that it would cost 4k for that!
Fortunately I had another problem with the sound setting on my phone so I gave it back to them to solve that at least. They flashed the phone with latest ftf(some GB ftf at the time) and gave back the phone saying they couldn't solve the sound issue.
BUT to my surprise/luck my screen prob was fixed! And I dint pay them a single pie!
So I think y'all should try flashing the Stock ftf, preferably ICS 4.1.B.0.587 and its Kernel
Here is the link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952333
I hope it works for y'all! All the best!
