I ordered a purple housing for my Evo 3d on Ebay and mounted it yesterday.

The disasembling is simple, you have just to care about the screws and connexions.
It was hard to pull out the digitizer and the screen because they were well glued.
My digitizer was a little hurt (on the right of the screen) but it works good.
I have ordered a new one to replace it.
It is pretty beautiful in purple.
Do you have a link to the seller on eBay and how much did the housing set you back?

Yes but be carefull, there is for GSM or CDMA Evo 3D in his shop.

Same thing happened to me 4th July w/end. Face plant on asphalt. LCD was fine, digitizer still worked. Got a few glass splinters though
I bought a 'for parts' off ebay for like $40, swapped out the digitizer and have some spare parts for my junk drawer Just waiting for the trackball to fubar.

Was able to play spider man and take some pics. Really like the camera button and screen. 3d was alright.

It was smaller than I expected. Can feel the slight thinness compared to my Evo. And as for your last question, you should see the booth babe that had it

Yes, it's a feature of all samoled phones. Essentially it turns off the black portions of the screen. This is why many recommend black or dark wallpapers on Samsung phones.

Not noticeably enough to me to not enable it. Battery life is way more important to me than video quality, though. Just try it, won't hurt.

i can upload a photo tomorrow of everything. standard screen protectors like you can pick up at verizon. not invisible shields.

I tried looking and came up with nothing. Although I did find some other nice wallpapers.
My suggestion would be to sign up on Motorola Android forums and ask your question there. I signed up with www.droidevelopers.com as I saw someone post the default razr i wallpapers, but the one you want isn't in the list. =\
