Is it possible for the lockscreen Pin to unlock my device automatically? Without the need for me to press okay?
My password is about 5 numbers long, and I hate pressing those, then pressing the OK button. Mainly because I can press those 5 buttons without looking at the screen, but I have to look to find the OK button.
IOS has it set like this (but only allows 4 numbers). Is there a way we can have something similar?
I believe Cyanogen mod has this as well :S
Thanks
I think widgetlocker has this option.

Just curious, what are you doing AFTER you unlock your phone, that you do not have to look at it? In other words, why is it a big deal that you have to glance at the screen to touch the "OK" button, when right after touching "OK", you'll most likely be looking at the screen anyway? I could understand if you were unlocking it to do something that didn't require you to look at the screen, but at the moment I can't think of anything that would accomodate that.

It's mainly that I'm in class, and I dont want to look down that often. So I can pretty much unlock it without looking, then just quickly text. Then look back up. I dont want to look down, wait for it to unlock, then text... It's a matter of seconds, but I hate getting caught

I've noticed with some lockscreen apps, you can simply press home or the back key to get out of them. Is this also the case with widgetlocker? Or is it secure?
And does it keep the sense lockscreen UI? or does it change it

I've had the G-tab for two weeks and always use something for a while before I ask questions. It looks like at least one of the questions, icon spacing is answered elsewhere but since I am going to as a few questions I'll still include it here.
I'm using TNT-L 4.4 but guessing most of these are universal to Android.
1. The G-tab does lock after a while and I just slide the lock up and it unlocks but is there a place to tell it you want a password. Also when it boots up I'd like a password on it.
2. I know it does multi-tasking but when I am in certain apps, browser and others, I have to either back out of it, or hit the home and when I go back the app starts over again. I thought you could just slide from screen to screen.
3. On the home screen when I put icons on the home screen only four across and and three high. Should be able to get at least 6 or 7 wide and 4 or 5 high. What's up with that?? Can you set icon spacing on the home screen?
4. A lot of devices you can have information displayed when it is locked like your name/phone number in case it is lost/found they know who's it is. Anything to do that?
5. I've seen a number of posts about screen protectors and most are related to fingerprints. I'm mostly wanting to get rid of glare. What is the best Anti-glare screen protector?
6. Where can I get free chocolate? Always a good question.
Thanks.
p.s. This is a great resource!

TNT-L is based off the stock ROM, I do not believe setting a lock-screen code is available. Other ROMs may/may not offer this choice. CM7 and those built from the CM7 base do.
2. I know it does multi-tasking but when I am in certain apps, browser and others, I have to either back out of it, or hit the home and when I go back the app starts over again. I thought you could just slide from screen to screen.

No, no sliding from screen to screen as apps are designed to be inclusive to their own layout. Hold HOME to switch between apps. Don't press it, hold it....a screen will pop up with the last few used apps. Selecting it will take you right back to where you were in the app.

Not with the stock one. Launcher Pro, ADWLauncher, VTLLauncher will allow you to increase the columns and rows. I use an 8x8 grid that fits nicely without chopping off the text of the icons.

Yes, though off the top of my head I don't recall. Plenty of app/widgets that will overlay/use on top of the lockscreen.

This ought to be in the "Android Navigation 101" thread...it has been driving me nuts trying to figure it out. Thank you...
Regarding screen lock in TNT
I'm not sure if this will work in 4.4. I switched to Vegan a while back to get EAP functionality, so I haven't had to check. However, I did figure out how to do this a while back on TNTLite 5. It requires Launcher Pro (or a launcher with similar functionality).

Next question for a simp
What is the easiest way to get into the Sound applet without having to navigate through the settings menu? The volume control only brings up the Media Playing volume levels, and I'd like to be able to get into the Master and Notifications volumes quickly as well.
EDIT: set up a custom shortcut which gets to the general Sound Settings, but would still like a way to get directly to the volume applet.
It works in TNTL 4.4.0.
I just followed the instruction and was amazed.
Thank you!
Does anyone else feel like the lock button is getting harder and harder to push? I am at the point were i have to use the tip of my finger to push it in enough. I havent dropped the phone or anything. Does anyone know any apps or anything that will map the volume up to lock and volume down to unlock? that would be awesome.

Grab "No Lock" from the market. It works and it's free...
That looks like it just disables the lockscreen. I want to make it so the volume keys lock and unlock the phone.

There really isn't anything that does that. (unless you want to give widget locker a try in the last post)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020003
"No Lock" may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it would at least be "workaround" if your lock button gets worse.
Either way, best of luck!...
Widgetlocker works perfectly, I too use the volume buttons to unlock the phone, way easier to click and it feels a lot sturdier than the power button.
ok widgetlocker has an option to wake up w/ volume button. Wish i could lock w/ the up rocker and unlock w/ down rocker.
Try NoLock, it's way simpler and less laggy than Wigdetlocker, and free sd well...

One thing that really annoys me about my X2 is the fact that when it's idle and I want to use it, I have to first slide my finger left to right to unlock the screen, and then put in my security pattern to use the phone. It's a little redundant and stupid to have to do both. Now that I"m rooted, is there a way I can remove the initial left to right swipe screen unlock?

There's a free app in the Market called No Lock. I have it, and it works great!

Ah that's right, someone mentioned that before but I wasn't rooted at the time. Thanks.
EDIT: Actually that takes both things off, I only want the initial sliding unlock removed, I still want to enter my pattern...
I found AntiLock which does what I want but is kind of shoddy... it shows the home screen for a split second before making you enter the pattern, and there's no emergency contact button down below. There has to be something else out there.

I use No Lock; put MIUI on my wife's nook color and No Lock was bundled with it. Seems to work well.
No Lock doesn't do what I want though, I still want some security in the form of the pattern lock. I just don't want the stupid left to right swipe screen, it's pointless.
hi all, as the title tells is there a way to make it possible? a single tap, double tap or as per user choice, or touching specific area in the display to wake the screen.
the display does wakes from sleep mode when receiving mail, calls extra without touching the keys, so can the same mechanism be achieved to unlock the screen?

This thread may be a good start. It's an app that lets you re-map the double tap to launch a certain apk. If you somehow change that to the unlock command or create a very basic app that unlocks once open then it should work.

i think we have to remap the wake event sent by home button or power button to the display unit, lets ask the app dev in your link and see if we can get something fruitful
according to me its a wierd feature..that requires tap to unlock......
always sliding is better nd stylish to use...........
tapping to unlock is a ****ty idea that all nokia symbian based phones exists......
so devs doesnt focussed on this .........
try widget locker or go locker, it provides as many as better nd good screenlocks than u said to make implement by devs.......

Put it this way, how about waking the phone from sleep mode using tap instead of pressing power key or home key. Won't that be useful ?

I think if that's the case (waking the phone by just tapping and not through the power button) buddy then the phone should be awake to recognize the tap causing battery drain and prevents the phone from going to deep sleep. On the other hand unlocking the phone by double tap might just be a good idea

I wonder what happened about this? Would really be useful, no progress eh?
Does anyone know if a rom which has options "tap to wake" or "tap to unlock" as in G2 ?
You need modifications in kernel in order to do this, and I doubt it would be battery efficient enough to make it work on this phone.

I constantly open my phone to check the time, hit the home key one handed and look at time on lock screen. But now I'm holding my phone by the bottom right corner and have dropped the phone before while trying to reach up and press the side button to close... it's a pain.
Sure I can sit there and wait for timeout, or I can put it back in my pocket, in which case it might "swipe open" and be doing all kinds of things while in there.
Wouldn't it be cool to look at the time and just click something, like the home button again, or the 'back button' and have the phone close again??
Anyone know how?

Are you rooted? If so using the home or back button could be possible via smali edit. If your not rooted, I can write an app that will show a square (size determined by you) that will show on your lock screen. When you tap this square, it will shut off the screen, tapping and moving your finger on the square will move the square. Square is removed once unlocked.

You can reassign one of the capacitive keys (e.g. "back button") to turn the display off with an Xposed framework module. And there are legions of apps that do similar actions if you do a search.
Even better IMO is to use a lock screen app like Dynamic Notifications which can automatically show you the time when you pull it out of your pocket and automatically turn off the screen as you put it back in a pocket. Without pressing any keys at all. It does this by using the proximity sensor and it works very well indeed.

They may not be running xposed. Therefore an xposed module may not work. Secondly, all lock screen apps suck. Also, if it's using the proximity sensor to turn on the display from your pocket, it's draining additional battery.

All lock screens suck? Your objectivity is astounding. No subjective bias there whatever. The idea is to provide options to the OP, not cater to your idiosyncrasies.
The battery draw for the suggested app is tiny, much less than most apps that do not poll the proximity sensor and you have no idea if the OP may or may not wish to use an Xposed module.

No lockscreen app can provide the same amount of security as the default lockscreen. Therefore, it sucks. I can and have gotten around all popular lockscreen apps on the play store. Yes, the idea is to provide options to the OP, but make them good options and practical options.
