[Q] I have no IMEI and my baseband is unknown - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have no IMEI and my baseband is unknown.
I use win7 32bit and I can't speak EN. well.
can you help me? what should Ido?

what firmware version were you using at the time it went or was it when flashing new firmware?
have you tried flashing anything since?

yes,I did.
there is a answer in here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17563354
but I don't understand what is it because that answer is for Mac OS and I use Win7.
plz help.

i would try a factory reset 1st. if that fails flash the latest working firmware you used. DO NOT USE PIT OR RE-PARTITION!

I had done all of that ways.
I used a rom and I used a pit file.
what should I do?

I would try the search button multiple i lost my IMEI posts you might find an answer .
jje

try to flash official firmware. you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

help me please.

Never use partition file!!! When you flash phone using ODIN, make sure Re-Partition is OFF!!!
It will delete existing partitions and create new. One of partitions (/efs) contains IMEI code and other unique stuff related to phone. If you didnt backup /efs before flash there is no help, and you should go to Samsung service center.

Agree Samsung service centre as you cannot follow the given instructions .
Tell them it broke after Kies update .
jje

but someone fixed it. go here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17563354

You can either follow the instructions on the restore EFS threads and Fix IMEI threads to see if any work or take the phone to a service centre .
Thats your choice .
Link above says restore your backed up EFS >> HAVE YOU>>
or try flashing original firmware .Have YOU
Or even via the link given in that link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780509
Even one posted in the general thread .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
Their is not a definitive method of restoring IMEI if you have not backed up your EFS some methods work for some but not for others .

[Q] I9300 Factory Mode + Generic IMEI (No EFS backup). What to do now!?

Hello community,
First of all, please don't kill me, start saying I didn't read or search, etc etc etc.
Yes, there are several threads about this, but still nothing has worked as yet. My phone is still on Factory Mode with a Generic IMEI
The history:
1) Phone was under KOR CSC, so I changed it to BTU. Then, I updated to the most recent ROM (4.1.2) from a past 4.0.X
2) Although factory unlocked, it started asking for sim unlock.
3) I went back to a previous ROM (4.0.X) without reading the EFS problem and without making EFS backup.
4) Phone started showing the generic IMEI and factory mode.
5) Flashed again the most recent ROM. Still same IMEI and factory mode.
6) Tried all the fixes I could find around here and other websites and nothing (Copying and replacing EFS contents via different methods, modifying factorymode file via different methods, flashing and re-flashing, rooting and re-rooting, etc). No luck at all!!!
In summary, I ran out of threads to read and still nothing works. I'm tired and desperate. Could you please help a noob, step by step, and see what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Flash the latest BTU official rom using odin then factory reset. If that doesn't enable your efs to be read then you will have to pay for a repair, there is no software fix for a corrupt efs.
Reset flash counter flash stock firmware and visit service center

Thanks, for your answer and your useful sticky thread, I have always gone there first. BUT as I said in my original post, I did read and try all of that.
I was just wondering if there was something else to do by myself, before sending to a service repair center (I'm in Trinidad and Tobago and didn't buy the device here, so the chance of getting a reliable service center is slim)
Anyway, thanks everyone for replying!

[Q] IMIE doesnt match the one on sticker no network after roms n rooting

Hi guys i have a backup for my s3 gt-i9300 mobile that i copied from my phone to my pc(just in case) I can't get the backup working eg it wont instal and it says no files found-but the folder is mos def not empty
The backup was made in recovery mode with clockwork mod but when i paste the folder from my pc to the external micro sd card and try to access through cw mod nothing happens and it says no files found. there are definitely files in the folder.
I have no idea what ive done wrong please help me
Please read sticky threads in general

where to copy my backup folder (on pc) in order to restore
Hi all could someone please have a look at the pic i posted and tell me where i should copy it (on the phone location) in order to restore my phone to factory default and working order..
I have taken the fone to two mall repair shops and they cant or cant be bothered fixing it
I have wiped all areas of my s3 gt-i9300 thinking it was good housekeeping,at that stage the mobile worked: when i say all areas i mean all areas not just the easily accessible areas the hidden files etc. i've unmounted all the files partitions i could access in recovery mode and deleted it all-now my phones is stuffed.
i have only made one backup with the original firmware and it doesn't restore (clockwork mod) when i paste the folder from my pc to the external sd card and access it in clockwork mod- im thinking i should paste it inside the phones memory and then flash(one of the partitions hidden or otherwise). Any ideas on the matter guys?
Please help me im getting desperate and the phone wont register to my network any longer have tried so many flashesof official roms with out any luck and scoured the forums for an answer and i cant find a link to an australian version of official firmware download perhaps i have the wrong firmware on the phone eg wrong country but i dont know the country of origin for the mobile i only know it works in Australia and has
If you deleted your EFS you have no choice but to send it in for service (to samsung), depends on where you are from but this is the truth in most countries.
What you have is a nandroid backup, this does not back up the EFS partition. You should listen to what rootSU said and read the relevant threads.
I hate to be the one to tell you this . Clockworkmod recovery does NOT backup efs folder which contains IMEI. Even nandroid cant help you now. My suggestion is flash either an mg2 or mg4 modem. or a stock firmware which uses an mg4 or mg2 modem these stockroms can be found on sammobile.com Rootsu asked that you read the stickies in general section. had you done so you would learn how to repair your phone on your own. you would learn how to properly back up and restore efs folder. you would have learned to probably avoid this problem altogether. please read

IMEI null+no baseband+ other problems. need help

hey guys. i have an international galaxy S3. i am from India and i got my phone from here.
the phone was running stock Australian 4.1.2 with siyah kernel.
the device was overclocked to 1.5 GHz and zram was enabled in stweaks. i downloaded this app called swapper from Google play and in about 2 mins the phone shut down.
i tried switching it on but it wont switch on and was stuck in a boot-loop.
i flashed stock australian 4.1.2 and went into 3e recovery where it said unable to mount efs.
then i flashed stock 4.04 indian rom and the phone switched on.
it had no imei and baseband. so i rooted it and tried flashing a few modems. no change.
when i type *#1234# it says cp and ap unknown. only csc is known.
tried inserting and re inserting sim multiple times. no change.
when i try going into service mode it just shows a black screen.
and when i press the power button the phone just shuts down without giving me any options.
WiFi and Bluetooth work fine.
the efs folder is empty.
any advice on how i can restore my imei? actually i can do it but i just need the phone to have a valid baseband and ap and cp.
could it be possible that i wont be able to flash a baseband as long as my imei is null?
btw when i got my phone it came with jelly bean pre installed.
i got it on 22nd march 2013 in india.
the exynos 4412 quad variant .

If you had read the faqs and guides first then you would have backed up your EFS folder .

i found a way to fix the imei but i just need the basebands to work...if this works out then we have a breakthrough! and i did have a backup of my efs. its generated automatically when you flash siyah kernel. i just forgot to transfer it to my pc...
As already said, go and read the stickies which are there to help you. Posting a new thread, identical to hundreds of others, is not going to persuade anyone to write it all out for you again.
okay. but do me a favour and please dont move or delete this thread.. i know i can find a fix . i will. and when i do i'll post it here.
Why not try the fix already posted in xda, it should take 30 seconds to do. Don't post it, as it won't help anyone else but only add to the clutter.

Restoring IMEI after corrupt EFS

Hey guys,
Sorry in advance for what is no doubt something that's came up a few times in the past (as is clearly evident by the posts). I've spent a long time trying to get around the issues with this thing so hopefully I can explain what I've done so far which might help.
So, basically -
My brother had an S3. The screen broke (glass only) and he asked me to repair it. This was a few months ago. Inbetween he moved to using a Windows phone and had the S3 sitting around until he eventually decided to hand me it to repair a couple of days ago.
Now, the phone was working flawlessly prior to him turning it off and switching over to the Windows phone. The S3 sat dormant for a few months, battery out.
When I went to turn it on to test the screen and buttons to ensure that's the only fault, it wouldn't get past the boot screen.
No huge deal there.
Upon checking in recovery it was unable to mount the EFS partition. I managed to get round that.
It still wouldn't boot, so I flashed a new ROM and it booted up fine however was in "Factory mode" with IMEI starting 0049.
I've done a fair amount of searching and came to a few conclusions but essentially :
How I don't know but his EFS folder was competely corrupt and essentially contained few files, none of which were IMEI related. I have no clue how this has happened but it has.
I've managed to get the phone working ALMOST flawlessly by restoring a stock EFS backup IMG using kTool, I HAVE the phone's IMEI and serial which are printed on the phone itself. Only issue now is that the phone can't connect to any networks - because the IMEI is a default.
So, I've dug around in the stock EFS backup IMG that I was able to find (which has got the phone working great, minus mobile networks) and found that the IMEI folder contained a file "mps_code.dat". Upon opening this file it's basically empty. I assume this is because it's a stock EFS I located.
Does anyone have any clue how I can input the IMEI into this file? I tried to decompile the IMG, type it into the file and save, then recompile the IMG however kTool doesn't recognise the newly created IMG file and crashes, then restores the phone. Is there a specific tool I should be using to make the IMG and can someone root into their "mpd_code.dat" and tell me the format that it needs to be in? (I don't need or want any IMEI numbers, just the format that the file is. Just open it in a text editor through Root Explorer (root\efs\imei) and star out the IMEI if you can).
Just to clarify before anyone jumps on it - I'm NOT looking for the file(s) OR the IMEI numbers on anyones phone with that request. Simply the format in which it should be in. I'm simply trying to put the IMEI for the phone ONTO the phone so it'll recognise networks and work as it should. Everything else is absolutely fine now.
So just to clarify the options I've boiled down to :
Recompile the efs.img with the correct IMEI within - if someone can tell me how that'd be great - then restore it on kTool.
OR
Edit the on-phone mps_code.dat with the correct IMEI but I need the format (if someone could peek at theirs that'd be great).
Thank you in advance all and sorry for the story! If I manage to get this to work I'll upload a tutorial with all the relevent files required which I know will help a lot of people.
Cheers
Mine mps_code.dat have 3 letters in it i-e 'TNL' which is csc i think. And imei is in efs1 and efs2 partition you can see in pit analysis thread google it if you don't know anout this thread.
Only thing which you can do is give phone to repair shop they have boxes and tools which can write imei. Or take backup of efs1 efs2 and efs of other phone and restore it in your phone.you do backup/restore using partition backup app in playstore by wanam.
Thanks for your reply. I will try to locate someone else I know with an S3 and pull their EFS - hopefully something will happen that's of benefit.
In the meantime, I'll focus on this as hard as I can to get it sorted. I've managed to go from having the IMEI reading as a random 0049 one, to "Null/Null" which means it HAS been written to (or does in my mind), just with nothing rather than the correct number.
If I get anywhere I'll update this thread, and if im successful in the repair I'll create a How-To based on what I did.
Cheers
I can repair your device. Had the same problem with my mothers phone.
The problem is that samsung changed the style of the efs format years ago and the S3 was falling in this time.
So if you need help, i can help.

Hey mate,
Want me to PM you?
Thanks
I had the same problem days ago and I couldn't connect to sim network.
What I did was flash stock rom using odin and then a custom modem and a custom kernel I found in the internet. At the end it gave me a normal imei number (not the [email protected]%) but it wasn't my original imei... nevertheless it can connect now without any issues .

Hey bro,
Do you remember specifically what ROM, kernel and modem you flashed? Ive tried this with no luck so interested in trying your combination.
Cheers
Ok guys this is exactly what I did:
1- backup all your data.
2- download a stock 4.3 jellybean rom from sammobile (I used the Trinidad and Tobago version because I live in Mexico but that shouldn't matter), autoroot cf for i9300 4.3 from their website and twrp 2.8 recovery, again from their website.
3- download this especial kernel and this modem:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/tky93zds14kt1hz/Patched_XXUGMK6_modem.zip.zip?dl=0
4- Proceed to flash stock 4.3 rom using odin 3.07.
5- After stock rom is installed flash the root cf file and recovery tar using odin.
6- Now that you have a rooted stock rom with custom recovery proceed to flash both the especial kernel zip and the modem zip using twrp recovery.
7- You should now be able to connect network.
Good luck.

Hey mate,
I started the process of this today, using a stock samsung FW that I updated to using Kies.
Unfortunately the end result is the same, 0049 IMEI number.
What I'll do is I'll download the T&T 4.3 from Sammobile and see if that makes any difference.
Thanks again,

Hey hey,
Right unfortunately all of the above doesnt solve any issues im having with the IMEI.
What I'm ultimately trying to do is find out a way to fix this, without having to use third-party hardware or a samsung service station.
The real reason is that I don't think the average user should have to go that extent to fix this - it's ultimately Samsung's fault.
Android is designed to be customisable allowing users to go up/down versions as they please (provided it's compatible with the hardware of their phone).
Just a thought -
is there any possible way to "bake" the old style EFS into a newer rom?

Hey All (that are viewing this).
The above procedure didn't work. I have managed to get the IMEI to change from 0049 to NULL/NULL and back again at will using a blank EFS restore file that I've got, however can't figure out what and how to change the files WITHIN the EFS restore to the correct IMEI etc.
I'll continue my search and if I come across anything, I'll let you all know on here and create a How-To.

Hey all - just a quick question on this.
Does anyone know how to modify the server to which a program points to check for user credits etc? There's clear reason I'm asking for this, however for obvious reasons I won't elaborate further right now.
