Unless anyone here has another idea

I bought my Samsung Galaxy Drod v2.1 when I was a T-Mobile customer. Then I unlocked the phone and moved to ATT (work reasons). Everything seems to be working ok but the GPS. Its kind of flaky. In fact, it has worked at all for months and then suddenly today, it started working. I dont know why. Here is my question:
1) Are there settings that would allow my Galaxy's GPS to work perfectly on ATT as it did on T-Mobile?
2) Is there a way to Flash a Android v2.2 onto my Galaxy on ATT?

I assume that by "Samsung Galaxy Drod v2.1" you mean "samsung galaxy vibrant with android 2.1", if so, then readng the sticky posts in here would've answered all your questions and also given you instructions on how to do everything with the vibrant.
to quickly answer your 2 questions:
1) Yes, there files you can flash too
2) Yes, look in the android development section
Thanks ID006. Looked but couldnt find it. I'll try again.....
I tried to find where I can load Android 2.2 but couldnt find it in the stickies. Does anyone have a link? Thanks.

I think you're in the wrong place anyways. the sph-d710 is a completely different model of the Galaxy SII than the i9100. There is no such thing as a i9100 sph-d710.
The GT-i9100 is the international versions of the Galaxy SII, and the sph-d710 is the Sprint version of the Galaxy SII, also known as the Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4g, or the Samsung Within.
I actually don't even see a forum for the Epic Touch 4g in xda, which is weird. There's a forum for the Epic 4g, which is the version that has a hardware keyboard... So I don't know where you should be, actually.
EDIT: I found the forum for the Epic 4g Touch - you want to be in THIS forum
So a friend of mine just bought a gsII that was modified to work with Verizon
and would like me to root the phone for him.
i have a few questions...
how can i tell what version of the phone he has?
if i root his phone will i have any issues with it? e,g will it no longer work with verizon? same question with flashing roms and kernals?
also any suggestions on what roms and kernals i should check out?
Thanks in advance for any help.

First thing to check is the model of the phone. Look on the label under the battery. If it says "GT-I9100", then you're in the right place.
HOWEVER, since you say that the phone was modded to work on Verizon, there is about 0.001% chance that it is an I9100, since the I9100 is a GSM phone, and Verizon is a CDMA network.
The phone could possibly be an SPH-D710, which is the Sprint GS II, (aka Epic 4g Touch), or maybe an SCH-R760, which is the US Cellular GS II. These are the only two CDMA versions of the Galaxy SII that I know of. If it is one of these, for SURE DO NOT USE any firmwares or kernels from this (I9100) forum.
The Epic 4g Touch has a separate forum, and the SCH-R760 doesn't have a forum on XDA at all, at the moment. But I did find related threads for this model in the Epic 4g Touch forum.
how do i flash my phone
i have a samsung galaxy s2 sch-r760 that i bought on ebay. i was told it was flashed to verizon, but it didnt work. it is currently on u.s. cellular which is cdma plz help

AND IT STILL DIDNT WORK
Because you flashed a kernel for Epic 4G, then you tried to revert it with tutorial for i9100. Am I right?

In addition to that - are your profile details accurate? Are you a T-mobile subscriber in the USA?
If yes, then you used not just 1 incorrect guide, but 2.
The T-mobile Galaxy SII is the SGH-T989. The forum for that phone is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329.
The I9100, Epic 4G Touch, and SGH-T989 are all totally different phones. The Epic 4G Touch is specific to Sprint, and the SGH-T989 is specific to T-mobile. Stuff between the two are totally NOT compatible.
The I9100 is a phone that works in the US on ATT and T-mobile (sort of on T-mobile, until T-mobile finishes their network upgrade), but isn't actually sold in the USA by any of the big 4 carriers.

Sprint device is still not an I9100. If your device is from Sprint, then you have the Epic 4G Touch, and are in the wrong forum. You can double-check the model number under the battery.
If the model reads as "SPH-D710", then you for sure have an Epic 4G Touch, and the Epic 4G Touch forum is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281
The Epic 4G Touch is CLOSE to the I9100 in terms of CPU/GPU hardware, but they have totally different radio hardware.
You should stay within that forum when looking for stuff for your device, and out of this one. (for the I9100)
