Hi guys,
Has anyone else been experiencing less than satisfactory battery life upon installing the GB update? This morning after I took my unit off of its charging dock it was fine. An hour later in the office (with no incoming calls or other usage by me) and the damn thing dropped to 80%!! That has never happened before. Is there an add-in or something to counteract this drainage?
HELP.
TIA
The "Soak Testers" have been warned that there is a lot of syncing that goes on the first day of a build, and since these are all totally clean installs, the battery info could be off. Wait a couple days and see what happens.
I had the same issues. I calibrated the battery this morning on a full charge and it is much better.

Been on the stock release since Friday & my battery has steadily improved. Im going on 14hrs off the charger with 20% left. This is better than my fascinate on cm7.
Edit: sorry, just saw this was for the prerooted release.

I have actually seen a boost in battery life. While i was on 2.2 I did all that i could to get through 3/4 of a day on a full charge. Now, with similar usage, I have been going to bed with 50% battery remaining.
On the topic of battery life, I have been playing around with Juice Defender Plus. Essentially it turns off my 3G and wifi radios when my screen is off. Does anyone know if that constant turning on and off of the radios uses more battery than if i just leave them on?
I bet I have at least 20 things I froze on titanium backup..
so sad all this **** is on this phone

When i got the X2 I would get the low battery alarm between 4 and 5 pm under moderate use on average. I purchased the BH6X battery, which allowed me to get to the end of the day with 30 - 40 % usually. Since the update, I'm back to gettting the low battery notification by dinner time. I reset my battery stats yesterday, hopefully we'll see an improvement in the next couple days.
Usage: 40% screen, 30% phone idle, 7% cell standby...
I ordered that battery last night, should be interesting

P3 didn't modify how the phone handles battery life, people have this issue on both versions, I read another post that said if there is any remnants of 2.2.2 on the phone it may be causing this, I think that is why they recommend you sbf, factory reset, wipe all caches, then update, if you have the time/ energy try it and let us know how it works.

Try freezing smart actions if you don't use it.

Froze, lets see if it has an effect
How did that work for you? Do you have alot of apps installed that use background data all the time? If so, you can increase the time between syncs. That should help you as well.

didnt do much as of yet. Don't have many aps installed yet and have a ton frozen with titanium.
Anyone have any other ideas if why Android OS would be consuming close to 50% of battery?

so with TI, freeze both Smart Actions 1.0 and Smart Profile 1.1.100?
I was under the impression the android OS generally uses that much, but normally we are used to seeing the screen outweigh everything. Since the screen in the razr uses less juice perhaps we are noticing other things draining.
My words with friends was the top user yesterday for 8 hours of use with 40% left

the same for me..30% usally..now 24% maybe it will improve freezing some apps..
I've had quite a few android phones and the only time android os has been so high is if something on a rom was acting up and usually a reflash and wipe helped. I'm at 60% battery after 4:20 and 33% is the os with 20 minutes of CPU usage. I am not using smart actions.

It's the Verizon Droid Razr, so it came with some bloatware, one of which is Let's Play Golf 2.

28% by OS today. However I added juice defender todtay along with my work smart action and big improvement.
Yesterday after 12 hours I had 30% left. Today after 15 hours I had 40%. This is normal usage. Few pics, tapatalk, setting up, surfing and a few phone calls with some texting.
Pretty happy with that.

I'm at 15 hours on battery. 2 hours of display on. 40% battery remaining. My Android OS taking up 35% of battery use. 28% display use

What do you u have smart actions for work setup as?
Yea same here, big usage on Android OS.. 18% with 30minutes of CPU usage.. I'm at 15 hours, 15% battery left, but this is my first charge.. heard around that it gets better after a few days.. still happy with the 15 hours, however, i would wonder why the Android OS takes so much..
Just chiming in. Same thing here, high Android OS usage. I've had 2 other Android phones (Evo 4G and 3D on Sprint) and the screen was typically the dominant power user.
How do I see awake/sleep time on the RAZR? I can't seem to find it.

Cell standby says its using about 20% of my battery over 17 hours even though time without signal is 0%.. what could be causing this and how might I fix it? this happens on both eclipse 2.03 and CM7
I have the same issue. Its a little better with cm7 than with eclipse but its still annoying. I'd also appreciate any input on the subject.

Using Eclipse 2.1 and after 7 Hours on its at 10%.I'd assume it'll be at 20% in 14.
Mine is only at 8% after about 14 hours on the amazing CM7

Do u have netflix installed??

I have just the regular Razr and my battery life is significantly less than Gingerbread. When I check the settings it says that the major usage is screen, even though I have it down to 18% brightness level. As an official release is months off I kind of expected bugs to be worked out, but hopefully someone figures this out before then.
Nila
What is your screen on time and how long is your phone awake. Maybe an app is forcing your phone to awake instead of letting it idle/sleep even though the screen is off. Check the other graph with the bars on the bottom.
No I don't have Netflix install, i even set in developer options back round processes to only 1, i did a titanium back up restore for my apps

There's a wakelock keeping your phone from sleeping. I believe its in the android os grouped apps, probably means it bloatware.
Here's a bit more info

Right now the battery is at 70%. It's been on for 4.5 hours and only a few phone calls made really. Screen accounts for 35% and Voice calls 20%, Android OS 19%. There's a separate Android System that is 3%. Time on shows 26m42s. I'll keep an eye on the time on and see if it looks right to me later.
I got the same battery life on ics I get on gbread. 5 hrs screen on on 3g. Use battery indicator. Its free in the market and there is a checkbox that shows 1% increments. If you can't get 4+ hours screen on time something is running away and you should do a factory reset. Start over.

The reason i think its a wakelock is because of your screen shot, if your android os time on keeps pace with your phones time on, its most likely going to be an app in your /system/app folder keeping your phone from sleeping. I had the same problem, I found for me it was the Verizon backup apps I had initially set up then decided Verizon were evil bastards and removed my account, set my phone to stop syncing in settings, but the apps still held a wake lock and network connection that started at boot.
One thing i cant stress enough is to exit your apps with the back button, not the home button, the home button is for multi tasking between apps and keeps apps fully running in the back ground, that will help a little with all the apps eating small percentages that add up

I got 3 hours and some change yesterday on my original RAZR. I dont think the battery stats are reading correctly because my phone lasted for a long time at 5%
Check the last link i posted, read the whole thread, it may help.

hey guys simple question, I flashed eclipse ROM v2.1 and I love it so far except one thing, the battery life sux, I mean when I was stock 2.3.4 rooted I froze a bunch of apps and my battery life was pretty impressive. So I can only relate this to that eclipse is performance based and needs a little more battery? So basically is their a method to getting more battery life or am I stuck.

Have you added any modifications since you flashed Eclipse? Have you added a significant amount of widgets or apps that run in the background? How has your brightness level and usage of device been (more or less than before?)
A majority of the people (myself included) feel that eclipse is great on battery. I use my phone constantly with the brightness on full and the second core script and the battery life is totally fine.

Did you calibrate battery? Also battery life for what, stand-by or usage? Stand-by I can get 2 says easily with just texting and calls. A normal usage, maybe 5 - 6 hours and I can even kill it in less then an hour If need be.

My battery life was a little less with Eclipse than on stock, too. CM7 batter life is even worse but still very acceptable. On stock I would easily get 2 days and some change. With Eclipse I'd get a little over a day, and CM7 a little less. What makes me wonder if being on a better ROM makes us use our phones more because it works so much better vs. stock. I can't stand my phone on stock so I usually don't mess with it.
No my friend everything has been pretty much left alone. I use the performance monitor for shutting down background apps, and have even froze the social media apps(twitter, fb,Skype). Huh

Give the calibration a try and see if there was a mismatch between readings. Maybe something is running harder than usual.

I would be more apt to say the drain was the norm high drain that the first couple days after flashing any ROM sees, yhe "recal" just wipes the stats of the battery doesn't change the amount of power you have or use
from my X2 roaming the north
Yea ur probably right about the high drain after flash because it seems the longer I'm on this ROM the better the battery is performing
