Regret on buying Optimus One - Optimus One, P500, V General

I bought Optimus One in March (from India. I live in India) and I regret that since I knew that high-end android devices are available at a much cheaper rate like the nexus one was available in the US for about the same price as I bought my Optimus One.
Anyone else regret on buying this device?

Absolutely no.
I bought it almost at day-one in my country, at that time it was the best deal to get a nice smartphone at an affordable price. Of course, technology developes and prices drop, it's nothing new.

Exactly. If you plan to buy a low cost smartphone and at the same time you want to be in "fashion" then you must buy something that is really recently released or else head for a high end device.
I bought my p500 7-8 months ago and at that time it was propably the best deal for its value. If I had to buy a low end device today then things would have been different.

I don't regret buying the phone because the phone is quite easy to overclock to a high-end device.

2 weeks after i bought this fone in august, the optimus one's price here in the philippines dropped some $45. now over a month after, new budget models came out...like the optimus net, etc. but am i regretting? Nope.
those who havent stumbled upon xda or were not brave enough to tinker with their OP1s, they might be pulling their hairs right now if they bought theirs the same time i did.
good thing this forum exists and thrives. and with our resident devs who churn out roms and kernels too often, and with forum members always out there ready to help helpless noobs like myself, i couldn't find any reason for regrets!

Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App

I bought it in July, long after it was first released, but when reviewing options I still found it the best Android phone in its price range with great developer support that allows us to unleash a performance on par with high-end devices. So no, no regrets.
Even if I were to buy a phone today, it'll still be in the shortlist. In fact the only phone I'm tempted to get over O1 currently (aside from O1's successors like Net/Hub) is Huawei X5, which seems to have shorter battery life that comes with all the higher specs.

The G2 is not even a month out and already has price drop

I am shocked that the price for the G2 has dropped for a phone that just came out on 9/12

Amazon will do that a lot even with brand new phones. I can't say that I'm surprised to be honest...

Just shocking that the price came down that fast. To think I paid full retail for mine so I could keep my unlimited data.
In Singapore, a few days ago, it was about 730 dollars. It's 715 today with free OTG, screen protector and official LG window case. I'm getting a brand new one for 650 without the freebies. It would have been 700 couple of days ago. But I'm not complaining.

I was reading a lot of posts on the Verizon Community form that there is a bad batch of G2's out there where folks have not been able to use their phone due to a bad SIM. I bought mine day 1 and I have not had any issues.

Right. Only phones that don't do that are Apple's but we already know why they don't discount any of their merchandise
I got my GS3 for $149.99 from Radioshack about a month after its release.
Note that this is the case for subsidized pricing which is simply the retailer cutting into their margin since the carrier kicks something back for the new contract or re-up. You never see msrp come down like this.

Samsung Note3 was launched in India for INR49990 with in 15 days the price has come down to INR47990. what's the big deal. if the product is good & the user is satisfied, it's worth the money else even for free, the phone is not worth it.
amazon does penny phones that are brand new too. when the dna came out, I think, or the rezound, one of them, it was a penny like a month after it came out... and they were both high end phones at the time. why is anyone complaining that there's a price drop?
hell, from day one if you went to Verizon online and used their 30 percent off code, the phone was only 140, which is what I paid for it.

[Q] Is the Galaxy Nexus Still Relevant?

So I'm getting ready to upgrade to a Galaxy Nexus for Verizon. Buying from Gazelle, and putting it on V's Prepaid service. I'm right now using a Coolpad Quattro 4G, and am not impressed at all. So my question is, is the GNEX still relevant? By this I mean, am I going to love this phone as much as I hope? I have read some really great things about it, and can't wait to hear what you guys think!
Its a 2011 phone, so probably not.

I loved my galaxy nexus when I had it... a year and a half ago. I'm on to the Nexus 4 now, which won't last much longer till the next Nexus.
It's an outdated phone, but still an "upgrade" if you will say, from what you have. If you are thinking of getting one, buy it used on eBay or Swappa to avoid contract issues with Verizon. I was stuck paying early termination fees last year when I left Verizon for T-Mobile.

Got my G2 from a trade...

So I have my hands on this beast now! I started out with a Nexus 4, traded for an Oppo Find 5, then traded that for a Note2 traded that for a Xperia Z, traded that for a Galaxy S4, then traded that for a HTC One, then traded that for an LG G2!
I am keeping my eye out for the Moto X, its intriguing to me...BUT not over the LG G2, this thing lasts ALL day on battery.
My question now is.... am I holding the original designed phone that the Nexus 5 is being made out of? Should I consider getting the Nexus 5? I dont care for the stock Android thing or updates because I am rooted so that is not a factor.

Honestly the only thing thats a big factor are the prices. The lg g2 is better then the nexus 5 IF you are rooted (pure android). Bought my lg g2 from a guy that didnt need for 500 bucks. 50 dollar difference than the nexus 5 that just came out. just got cyanogen on it and it'll work as good as the nexus 5. The nexus 5 only had the pure android experience and the price as an advantage. I got both of these from my LG g2 so for me there was no point in getting the nexus 5.

Someone offered me a 2013 Nexus 7 and a HTC One for my White 32gb Note 3. I am pretty sure i am getting the G2. Really would love the N5 , but Google play says it won't leave the wear house for 3 weeks and I don't have anything to b use til thenn can't 3 weeks for a phone...I hear the G2 is pretty dope and almost the same performance wise as the note 3. The GF has had hers for 48 hours now and I've gotten a chance to put it through it's paces, it's an excellent phone, don't think you would be disappointed. But "best" and "1rst choice" are all pretty subjective as each user has his/her own needs, usage patterns, and desires. Crowning one phone in a carriers lineup is problematic.

I've been an HTC guy since the Thunderbolt. All of my HTC phones were unlocked, rooted and s-off'd. I've had the Thunderbolt, Rezound, One M7 and One M8. I got tired of waiting for HTC to do something different. The M10 doesn't look like it is going to be much of a departure from previous models. I am very happy with my LG G5 so far. I hope someone finds a way to root it. I think the days of completely unlocked phones are going away.

I was also torn between getting the G5 or waiting for the HTC 10. I'm on Sprint, and Best Buy is selling the G5 for $99.99 with a new contract renewal, but I found out that that sale price ends on the 9th. I was originally going to wait for HTC's announcement to decide what to buy, but I didn't want to miss the sale price in case I ended up choosing the G5 anyways. So I just ordered the G5 from Best Buy for $99.99 and will take advantage of their 14-day return policy if after the 12th I decide to go with the HTC 10.
Your first choices should likely be between the g5 and s7.

I still need to decide on the service, but that seems like a plan.

Why in that order? From the looks of your it's saying stay away from the G5.
I just can't believe you put the 6p last, especially after the blackberry. Why?

don't really matter which order i put it in. becuase your opinion is different then mine.
or should I say they all good phone's which ever you pick. then we don't fight over a phone.
No worries, just curious.. You did specifically put the overall highest rated android phone at the bottom of the list and I was hoping for some insight.
I'm currently have the G5 and V10 tied for first place, G4 in second, and nothing after that... Because if it doesn't have a removable battery and Android it isn't a good deal in the long term (in my opinion of course)
