Toolkit for a rom or open source for one? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an open source available for a toolkit for a rom or an apk available for download that has lets say...
A root explorer/file manager, terminal, development, spare parts, ect all in one app? Something to save space in a rom?

Hi, I can't seem to find root file manager on the market, but there are many alternatives.
can someone recommend me a good free one?
thanks!
I'm also curious to know which is the best free app for root files explorer
Well, I don't know if it's the best, but I'm using root explorer.
If you can't find it on Market or try Apktor.
These are the repos I'm using for Apktor:
Code:

i already searched the forums okay?
I'd be interested in this or instructions on how to pull it from the stock install. I've wanted to play it but much prefer Bionic Fusion and LauncherPro over stock and TouchWiz.

use some sort of file browser with root permissions (I use root explorer but its a paid app) and go to system >> App >> com.ideaworks3d.thesims3.apk
copy that to your computer or external sd for safe keeping then install your new rom. once your on the new rom you can put the apk in the same place you found it and install it, or you can put it in your internal sd and just install it from there.
I could send u the apk. If u want me too pm ur email.

you should use it in your work instead of the one you use now. he is fine with it being in a rom as long as you give credit. i think its nicer to use too.

Change Device Model in Android Emulator - android.os.Build.MODEL

Is there a way to change/add the device model in Android emulator?
If I try to get device model programatically, it always return "android-sdk" or "sdk" in emulator.
I want to set the real device name in emulator for testing purpose.
You can download ROM toolbox and it'll allow to change almost everything

Search in Google play for ROM Toolbox Lite. This version is free and support the build.prop edit you want.
Caution: Prior applying any changes please make a backup of your current build.prop file
I believe you can just also navigate to the system folder and find it there. Use es file explorer and under settings check up to root, root explorer, and mount system.

Adding aosp source to Eclipse

I want to include aosp source to eclipse.
I tried this guide.
http://source.android.com/source/using-eclipse.html
I had downloaded eclipse for JavaJuno sr1.
Installed the eclipse.
Copied the .classpath to source dir.
Then changed the permission.
Opened the eclipse and set workspace to source dir.
But eclipse did not show any source file in the project dir.
Is any step I missed?

I don't think it makes much of a difference, but if you get the ADT bundle of the Android SDK, it already comes with Eclipse and the ADT plugin. That's what I'm using for my build environment.
The workspace for Eclipse can be anywhere, it doesn't have to be in the source directory. It's where Eclipse stores IDE settings that aren't related to the actual source files.
What's important is to set the project directory to the source directory. The project setup UI in the current version of Eclipse is set up slightly differently than what it says in the instructions though. When you create the Java project in Eclipse you need to untick "use default location", and specify your Android source directory as the location instead. Eclipse will detect that it contains the source files from which it then creates the project.
I'm talking about aosp source.
