do we need? or how to unlock bootloader - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

as a non-developer me, i couldn't think why i need it. Not until there's a developer who can do something great with the unlocked bootloader. and there's even a slightest chances to get the phone bricked. as for the step to unlock it, seems quite difficult too. is there any easiest way to understand?

i actually not mind of waiting a while more. since i just have my x10 7 months ago ( well count as long though ) but quite satisfied already with custom rom even without bootloader unlocked.

This is the only method we unlock bootloader and very easy just run a file and u r unlocked

If you have a sim-lock, you cannot use other sim cards from other couriers except for the courier you have a contract for.

relocking my bootloader cos the battery SUCKS after unlock...dunno

then i don't think i have the sim-lock thing. i bought my phone straight with cash without contract or anything and bought an extra sim card for it.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but it has been a little while since I've been on xda for the x10...
I see that the boot loader has been fully unlocked but what is the advantage over the previous kernel bypass method?
I understand we can now make a real brick... don't think that is an advantage...
Are kernels on an unlocked phone more stable than before, or does this have bigger implications than just the kernel?

I need help fast, my friends

Hello my friends, I need your help
I had bought a mobile x10a from canda
i bought it from a telecommunications company at $ 240
Is a device used is not new
The problem is that the device does not accept any SIM CARD .. Only offering from the company
So .. I've bought from the company code to make the device work on any sim card at $ 35
The company is a code that puts in the phone and I'm not I who put it
Mobile version 1.6 ... So .. I want to update to 2.3.3
Can I do it without problems??? Or will I need to buy a new one to break the code
What is your opinion in this problem?? ... Please help me
I think SIM Card lock will not affect the update process. Be easy my friend.

Code has been developed by the company and I do not have a copy of it
This is the last comment I will make on this topic it is getting annoying now. The code is PERMANENT. I know that because...that is what the code is supposed to do. PERMANENT UNLOCK. It doesn't matter if you root it, update it, go back to 1.6 or go to 2.1 or go to 2.3.3. It will ALWAYS STAY UNLOCKED. Please stop asking questions over and over again. If you do not believe me than that is your problem.
thank my friend for you comment

[Xperia U] Can We Root Xperia U ANYWAY?

Hey Guys...
I used to have x8i, x10i, Neo, and now I'm gonna buy an Xperia U.
But I can't figure out something, since there is a little progress on this device in XDA.
The simple question is this: If I buy this little honey, Can I root it ANYway?
I mean either with locked BL or unlocked BL.
And, Is latest version, .184, rootable?
Actually, I want to know whether it is possible to root this device or not, and if yes, WHICH VERSION...
It would be greatly appreciated if you provide me the link..
Thanks in Advance...
Zende Baashin, Hezaar Saal...
Hey...
I want to know if there is anyway to unlock sim, or if someone is working on. If can unlock sim, BT will be unlockable, right?
Thenks.
Unlocking the SIM card and Unlocking the bootloader are totally independent and different.
Unlocking the SIM is not a way or a "cause" for unlocking bootloader.
Bootloader unlocking is a different story, especially in the case that it's official. through Sony Mobile website...
I have blocked BT. I can use sony mobile method...
Anyone Home?!!!!
Any Answer?!!!!

first, tnx for your and ohter devs' hardwork.
then, there rises a question, how much chance do we have to get this little phone rooted? and then, who is the main dev for this? how much time do you estimate we need to get it done?

It is working, but I'm not yet sure if it's failsafe. Many things are the same as the XPS exploit and some work was done by Pokoby but I can't find his thread now. Basically it's a community effort.

It should not cause any damage, but something in there is not working every time, so you sometimes need multiple tries to get zergrush to work.

Not sure, it's mostly the same thing that was used for XPS.
hum, by XPS you mean Xperia S right? gotta read a bit how it is.
Pokoboy was just kidding, believe me! I read that thread all over, and nothing...
I hope there will be solution for root problem...
BTW, can you provide us with the root tool you are talking about? we will give it a shot, and we don't expect it to work 100%...
this device is very hard to root in locked bootloader because sony fixed the exploit., and another thing this phone is using different microprocessor(NovaThor), not a common Qualcomm SoC.

Even if he was (though I'm pretty sure he wasn't), he pointed me in the right direction. I'm the only person working on it, and I'm on vacation so I am NOT working on it right now.

How to remove simlock on xperia s?

Hello Guys
I have a stupid question, can someone tell me how to unlock Xperia S so that I will be able to use any sim from any network? I have a chance to buy Xperia S on Monday but it is locked to 3 network in UK and I'm currently in Tesco Mobile. Please can someone help asap. Thanks
Maybe if you flash a world generic firmware.

This would be the case if the original person bought it with contract. But if he got it sim free( pay as you go), then it is legal.
To answer the original question, the only way is to phone three themselves and ask for unlocking code, I think it is 20-30 pounds
I recently bought the Xperia U for my partner that was locked to the 3 network. They will unlock it, BUT the person on the contract will have to make th call and they will supply him with the code, can take up to a week for it as it comes from Sony themselves. I think the cost was about £15 for it.

Will Motorola's Official Bootloader Unlocking Tool for Photon allow working 4G?

Since the Unlocking Tool is from Motorola, will it allow the Photon Bootloader to be unlocked without disabling 4G/WiMax on custom ROMs that require an unlocked bootloader?

It's not on the unlockable device list, but it may be in the near future.
We can sit around and wait for Motorola to do it. Or we could all sign an online petition and show them how big the community is, and how much business they'll loose if they don't unlock bootloaders!
