Heyo Fellas,
So I recently started experimenting with Desktop Visualizer (https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.co.bii.android.app.dskvzr&feature=search_result) to try and sleekify and sexify my phone.
While being able to set it all up with the uniform and minimalist icons I like is nice, I dread there being a catch in a performance hit.
Does anybody know if Desktop VisualizeR is known to cause slow downs/performance hits? Is it designed to be very lightweight or not?
Also, I did search both the forums and google for insights, but found that a lot of stuff was dated. I want an up to date answer in case they've optimized anything.
Thanks for any input.

I have 6 desktop icons on my home screen. no lag noticed. using go launcher ex.
On my atrix I have 12 1x1 dekstop visualizer icons setup and see no effect on performance other than a few seconds added to boot time to load the widgets. On my dell streak I had even more and it didnt effect performance and it is half the specs of the atrix.
Edit: using launcher pro plus
AFAIK, desktop visualizer is only creating shortcuts and using any icon you choose to do so, i dont think its something that runs non stop
Awesome.
Thanks everybody.
And Pirateghost, I bet you're absolutely right.
You guys put me at ease.
Thanks again.

Hello Everyone,
Does the Weather Toggle Widget work properly for anyone on the Dell Streak? I tried this on 1.6 and now again on 2.1 but it always looks messed up. The clock looks great but the weather is always compressed and cut-off on the side. I have tried different skins but always the same result. I really like this application and just want to get it working.
Check the screen capture to see what I mean.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
PS. I did send a support email to the creator as well so I hope to hear from him eventually.
[FIXED using ADW LAUNCHER (Free) in Market Place]
I was informed that ADW Launcher allows many customizations, including widget sizes. I use this as my home scren now and couldn't be happier having total control over my widgets.
Yes mine was cut off and it is cut off on Beautiful widget

What widget r u using?
I use beautiful home screen, and had a time issue when i flashed to 2.1 in that the time wouldn't change.
Sent and emial off to creator and got a reply very quickly saying to exclude it in task killer and it now works.
Only problem i have now is that the minutes section is over lapping on the right, not a big deal but still an issue.
Have to say tho the beautiful home live weather wallpaper is amazing.
Yeah i tried it too and it wouldn't line up correctly so i had to ditch it.

Hello everyone,
I'm currently running MCCM SE 2.0 (miui customized ROM) with Hastarin 7.5 kernel. I had issues with the original kernels with freezing, so I switched. Now I'm having some more issues, but I'm tired of playing with this build, time for bigger and better (Hopefully more stable too!)
My question is this: MCCM 2.0 has quick links to enable/disable almost everything directly in the notification window (Wifi, APN, airplane, brightnes, etc.). I want a build that has this OR a way to plug this in an existing build. I've looked for apps that do it, but I'd rather have it integrated.
Thanks for your help, guys. This forum is much more helpful than others I've been in!
I'm not sure but the Sense builds should have a widget named energy control or something like that.

Yup, any build you can add a widget too you can add this to a home screen. Add a widget, choose Settings > Data Dashboard or Power Dashboard (on the new desire HD builds). Both of these combined give you almost complete control over the phone and it's functions. I don't think this is limited to the sense builds, I've seen loads of builds have these.
He is asking a different thing from the "power strip" or other widgets. In the MIUI roms you have those shortcuts NOT in the home screens but directly in the notification/status bar.

Yup I realise that but why have to pull down the notifications window when you can have it directly on the homescreen as a widget?

It's because I prefer a clutter-less environment. And considering it's one quick link bar instead of tons of random widgets... I mean it's all a question of taste, really. Many different options for many different people. I have apps on my main page I use frequently (With a few widgets) and the second page is a few more apps... All those shortcuts are practical in that scrolling notification window for me.
If anyone knows which files control the notification display menu, that'd be fine with me... I'll take it from there! I'm just trying to figure that out.
Thanks!
i am looking for exactly this. i know about poer management widget but i think the notification bar in miui builds is just awesome. i don't care about the rest of the skin so much. i would love to find out if there are any alternatives out there, as well.

Does anybody know any good live wallpaper that works on Wildfire? I recently found Shake Them All! works quite well
The ones I have found working well without lag:
- Starfield 2D
- Solar Wind
- Android Sparkle LWP
- Pixel Rain - (Currently using ATM)
But, I really wanted a Nexus One style Livewallpaper, but, sadly all lag. (Most prominent when you swipe across homescreen panes) :/
EDIT: I installed this, the performance is great (No lag), but not impressed with the touch functionality (Interaction), 'seems' its glitched. Also, no configuration options at all, but, performance is very smooth.
- Nexus Like LWP
Solar wind is Dope. Really smooth.
Yes, and it's pretty much the same for all of AOI Dev's LWPs, but, somehow, the others seem "glitched", i.e. they start flickering (And its so bright it hurts the eyes) and don't work as intended. But for the few that do, they are extremely smooth. Swiping across the homescreens is almost similar to having a static wallpaper.
They are probably the reason I look for LWPs <100kB in size.

I've tried Nexus Revamped Live Wallpaper & it works really great. A lot of tweaks especially performance. Can set it to 10-15fps with max particles 10. Really smooth

I have that, but it lagged when you swiped across homescreens. I had reduced the number of particles but had left the fps option at default.
Guess I will give it another go with a 10-15 fps setting.
Cheers
The Multipicture live wallpaper works great (and it should ^^) only thing i notice is my statusbar pulldown animation starts lagging >.>
ambient time LWP, a circuit board, typography wall, swamp water, WP clock LWP worked quite well on mah cell try dem

Hi all
I just installed Solar wind live wallpaper, but got message that my handset does not support it.. Is it cos my phone isn't rooted? Or something else could be problem? tnx in advance
yes, stock ROM's do not support live wallpapers on the wildfire.
I don't use any at all. It makes the app drawer laggy as well, too bad

I use launcher pro paid version, but still I can notice lag. It perhaps doesn't lag that much from transitions of homescreens, but the app drawer is not as smooth as when using a static wallpaper (at least for me)...
I've noticed that the stock Sense app drawer scrolls incredibly slow in the "All Apps" tab and isn't much better in the "Downloaded" tab. Compared to ADW EX it scrolls about as quickly as Verizon gets updates out. Has anyone else experienced this?
My Sense app drawer scrolls just fine.
I have tried both LPP+ & ADWLauncher EX in mine & while both work very well I didn't really notice any speed difference between any of them.

Absolutely! Especially when you use a live wallpaper. It's crawling at about 15FPS it looks like.
I've just decided to either stick with a static wallpaper in Sense, or use whatever I want to in GO Launcher and enjoy the high speed smooth scrolling
I guess I never noticed because I never saw the point in using a Live wallpaper.

I don't typically bother with LWP's either, but I like the ICS Phase Beam LWP, so I tried it out. It's not smooth enough though.
Hopefully having real ICS on this phone with hardware acceleration will help the app drawer to be smoother.
IDK how all that works though or if it effects all aspects of the visual experience or not.
Well, I'm not using a live wallpaper. Just wallpapers from my gallery. I wanted to give Sense a try and I do like it, but the reduced speed of the app drawer is enough to convince me to switch back to the speed & added functionality of ADW EX.
It's not slow, it's designed that way. It is meant to show one full slide at a time rather than flocking through all of them at once. It's just how sense is, you'll need ti install another launcher to change it.

Jim - Yes, I'm aware that it's set up to scroll. Thanks for the heads up on that for anyone who hadn't figured it out. However...
I fixed it. I was scrolling through the app drawer today and hit the "Menu" soft key. I found an option to display the drawer as an alphabetical list instead of an icon grid and now it's fast as can be! I also love the list because it's more readable. I know this might not work for everyone, but hey, it's better than waiting for one slow page after another, right?

Hi,
I wanted to get a sense of what others are using for their launcher interface for their TS.
I have tried a handful but nothing really seems to fit the bill all that well.
I have tried
Google Now Launcher
Launcher 8
Smart Launcher
Various "Big" and "Senior Phone" launchers
Nova Launcher
among others....
I seem to be constantly going back to the stock launcher (not OUI 2.0 as that is just crap)
What are you guys using or recommend trying?
One thing I seem to really hate about going to alternative launchers is the loss of the "real" status bar..... I have tried Swipe Status Bar, but that just introduces issues with having to swipe down when you need to access touch points that are near the top of the screen. (Plus the last version that was released completely made icons no longer clickable)
D.
Stock launcher for me seems fine.
I switch between stock Android launcher and GEL. I never use OUI2.

Smart Launcher for me, Operative style.
I'm pretty happy with lucid launcher across all my devices.

I have used ADW EX on my other devices for a few years, so I installed it. After tweaking the icon/text sizes and a few Gravity box tweaks, seems to work quite ok.
I think pretty much any launcher will do, as long as you can customize it around the limited screen space.
Lightening launcher with x3 UI layout.
Just tried smart launcher 2 as mentioned on here. It's really good! all the elements fit perfectly on the screen almost like it's made for the TS.
I really use the OUI... But I only tried stock and OUI, didn't try any others yet, so this might change
nova for me just with the icons set very big like my status bar to much and not a fan of the status bar app that will give you access to it never worked quite like the stock status bar should.
I've been using Mini Launcher... although only for a few days and haven't tried many other options yet, so i might change if there's anything better
+Lokifish Marz. Can you please elaborate a little on your set up.
Thanks in advance.
Right now it based on Lightning but really needs to be a standalone.
Thank You Sir?

Personally, I really liked the WP8 launcher. Could fit lots of useful info and apps on the watch screen.

I keep falling back to the stock launcher. I've tried a few (nova, apex, and similar), but the status bar is the biggest issue. I'm really fond of the bar for easy overview of new notifications, and can't really live without one. Swipestatusbar solution works ok:ish, but not having the bar there after exiting apps and having the bar interfere with touch event at the top makes it a dealbreaker.
OUI is almost there - it has widgets, app drawer and screen sorting, and the status bar. It does however lack in other ways, like missing an indicator for which screen you are on, and everything looks very blurred, together with almost no customization. Some widgets looks as if they are rendered at like 50x50 pixels and zoomed to fit the screen. Also seems unstable, it has crashed a ton of times.
If the stock launcher could just get widget support, an app drawer and preferably a way to add/remove/sort your screens, I'd be happy with it. For now it works though, and seems fast and stable with status bar working..
EDIT: After playing around a few hours with different launchers today, I finally went back to Nova. It takes some getting used to, but the status bar issue now feels like an acceptable loss compared to all the gains. It works very well, and renders on small screens better than most other launchers (some have too much paddin in the grid, some render icons very pixelated or blurry, and so on). Nova does a good job, my only peeve is that icons are aligned to the top of their grid position, and widgets are aligned to the center. This means that if you place an icon next to a widget, they will not align, and also the icons come a bit too close to the top. However, it's still better than the alternatives I've tried, so sticking with Nova for now.
When?

When will you be releasing it??? :highfive:
I am using launcher 8.
The tiles uses most of the screen at any given time, as opposed to a more regular android launcher.
Android launchers in general wastes a lot of screen real estate. This is because of the way the icons are organized, with lots of empty space between them.
The tiles you get in launcher 8 is quite tight, like in a proper windows phone.
I like this.
The tiles are also customizable in size, so stuff that is often used will have big tiles, while the lesser used programs get smaller tiles.
Launcher 8 also runs smoothly.

i use tsf shell for many years on all my phones and tablets.
now i use it on the truesmart and it really works great.
its smooth, it looks cool, you reach everything you want in short time.
shure i have to use swype status bar, but that is not really a problem.
ok it is not really cheap, but you only pay one time and can use it on all devices, so i think the price is fair if you have more devices
