I actually like blur home. It's only 74 kb, it's super quick, and I never really liked LP or ADW [stock g2x..stock defy..etc]
but I have installed the pink theme and now want icons to go with it..
is the ONLY way to use the icons a launcher?
Desktop Visualizer is not the answer..you can make shortcuts but it won't replace default drawer or dock icons
Someone let me know.
pretty sure you can change icons by unpacking the .apk files and changing the icons inside them?

Are there any large icon/dock themes with larger fonts out there that I can use without having to resort to editing the LCD Density via an app or editing the build.prop file?
I ask because my mother is considering getting a Nook Color, and her eyesight isn't the best plus I want to avoid her fat fingering the wrong icons
I don't want to modify LCD density because of sharpness loss.
Even a theme that has the icon size for application grid, status bar, and dock modded to be (significantly) larger would work great. I've tried ADW and Zeam but they don't offer the functionality I need.
In the newest update of ADW EX, you can set the size of the icons and text without having to change the density.
Desktop Visualizer lets you change the icon size of apps on your home screen. Not in the app drawer though.

Thanks, I downloaded it and like it, I wish it would let you edit the status bar + icons size too though.
LauncherPro doesn't have some feature that can do this that I can't find, does it?

To get larger fonts "in general" the option resides in the Spare Parts App, but it doesn't effect the size of the icons or home, menu, or search buttons.
So I bought ADW EX and it's exceptionally buggy on my Nook Color and on my HP TouchPad. However, I do really like how things look on the TouchPad with the large HDPI icons. Is there really no way to use those icons in a more stable launcher? I'd love to use 72x72 icons in VTL, GO, or LPP if possible, at least until ADW EX is more stable...

I have ADW.ex and yes, there are a few bugs but typically only with first launch. From a reboot or cold boot you have to relaunch adw and then it is smooth sailing. My biggest gripe is that you can't hide apps in the app drawer.

The size setting there only affects Google AOSP apps. It doesn't even affect Google's other apps.

After watching the video demoing the Windows 8 tablet I decided to try and recreate as much of the UI as possible.
If this sounds like something you want, you'll need the following apps:
-ADW EX Launcher
-Desktop Visualizer
-Multipicture Live Wallpaper
Optional:
-Palmary Weather Pro
Setup:
-Place the adw_ex_settings.xml file into your /sdcard directory and restore settings in ADW. Or set columns to 9 and rows to 5, make sure you have widgets set to stretch in advanced and turn off wallpaper scrolling.
-Set the wallpaper in Multipicture Live Wallpaper. Or you can try Wallpaper Wizardii if you want, but even though we're only going to be using the one wallpaper I found Multipicture was easier to use.
-Place a shortcut to open/close the app drawer under "Start", use the transparent.png for an icon and delete the text. Then arrange the 2x1 and 1x1 desktop visualizer widgets as you see fit.
*Optional* Modding Palmary Weather Pro:
-Download Apk Manager from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
-Pull the Palmary apk and place it into the modding folder, then run the Apk Manager script and select 1 to unzip the apk.
-Unzip the weather backgrounds and icons (optional) I provided into their respective directories, overwriting the existing files.
-Press 3 to zip it back up and then press 4 to re-sign the apk.
-Install the app and change the background color by choosing different transparencies in Palmary settings.
Please note that if you edit the background png's I provided they will not work afterwards. If you want to add more colors or change the ones I included, you'll have to refer to this guide here: http://modmymobile.com/forums/404-mo...ng-images.html
I hope you like the look, and if you make some new icons or wallpapers please upload them to the thread. If enough new ones get made I'll add them to this post.
Files:
Wtab8_icons - icons, wallpaper, adw settings
Wtab8_psd_fonts - 2x1, 1x1 psd files, Segoe fonts
Wtab8_weather_mod - backgrounds and icons for use with Palmary Weather.
The Palmary icons are still kind of a work in progress, if you live in an area that gets severe weather things can look a bit busy.

You can stop here if you want, but if you want to make the Palmary Weather widget look more like a Windows 8 live tile you'll need to take some additional steps...
First you'll need to download Apk Manager from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
Once you've pulled the Palmary apk, place it into the modding folder and press 1 to unzip the contents into the projects folder, then simply extract the weather backgrounds and icons (optional) into their respective directories. Then press 3 to zip it back up and then press 4 to sign it. Once that's done you can install the app again. Then you can change the background color via the transparency option.
If you want to add more colors or change the ones I included, you'll have to refer to this guide here: http://modmymobile.com/forums/404-mo...ng-images.html

Use the same method used to modify the palmary weather widget on ADW. Once the apk is unpacked, find the icons and make them transparent.

Amazing work. Just set up my gtab 10.1 home screen to look like this. Could not palmary weather to work like yours so i settled for a 1x1 widget. Would love to know where I can download more icons or how to make them. Thanks for posting the guide!

How to change icons in app drawer without any launcher i am using x10 MP and ROM CM7 2.1.7, also please give some links for transparent themes like CRYSTAL....
The only way to change the icons in the app drawer is to theme each individual app and change the relevant .png file. It's a bit tedious and really only works on system apps.
I'm not sure that's actually what you want to do since you mention not having any launcher. The launcher is the app that gives you the app drawer. If you haven't got one on your phone, the only way you can run any apps is by connecting is by using a PC interface.
I'm guess what you want to do is the change the appearance of the icons on the home screen of the stock SE launcher. That's the screen with the four selectable areas in each corner. If that's what you're after then you're out of luck. Only third-party launchers (like ADW, Go, Zeam, etc) offer the ability to theme the icons on the home screen.
Transparent status bar
yes i better move to MIUI launcher....im using CM7...i have heard many things about making status bar transparent....is there any simple way to patch this....
That depends what you mean by simple..lol
In CM7 there may be an option in the settings app to do that. I don't know if there is or not as I'm using a CM7 port.
Otherwise, you need to modify the statusbar_background.9.png file inside the SystemUI.apk. Change that to transparent, but make sure not to change the pixel thick border or you'll get all sorts of problems, and that will do it.
This also depends on your launcher as some just won't accept a transparent statusbar at all.
LOL
i liked the miui launcher....but now i notice there is no miui launcher for CM7....and for the transparent status bar....let it go....something new will come up im enough happy with the CM7 rom itself....i removed all built in themes...no use for the colours inside just the desktop itself is lovely with widgets and APW....thanks for everything bro
You can get a semi-transparent status bar in Flame.GDX ICS ROM. As for a launcher? Id recommend 360 Launcher.

I want to use the stock ICS icons in the nova launcher, does anyone know how to do this?
So when you add an app to your dock or one of the homescreens, a different icon pops up?
Do you have any icon packs installed?
same here please

Download an ADW ICS Theme. This one from KovDev works perfectly. Long press the icon, tap edit, click on the image, select Image File, then select ADW Icons or something like that. Then you'll have the choice of using that ICS icon from there. Works perfectly.
EDIT: You can use any ADW theme this way (at least individual icons) in Nova Launcher. I do it all the time, so I know it works.
EDIT 2: This will only be for individual icons on the homescreen, not in the app drawer.
If you download the icons, you press and hold the app with the icon you want to change, select edit, then click on the icon. From here it will give you an option to pick from the gallery or file browser, just pick the icon file and you're good to go.

Thanks guys worked perfectly. i feel so dumb now.
It would be nice to be able to change multiple icons with a pack, much like launcher pro. :-/
As the title suggests, I want to change the icons on cm10 but without using a different launcher. I use Desktop Visualizer but it doesnt change the icon anywhere other than the homescreen.
I would really appreciate it if someone could guide me on how to theme. I actually just want to add my own icons into the apk while keeping the stock theme.
Anyone?
Bump...
I think you'll have to decompile, edit, and recompile all your apks. I'm certainly no expert, but I don't think there's an easy way to change all your icons.
You could use MIUI, but I don't think you'd like changing your ROM, if you're unwilling to change launchers.
I'd rather change my launcher if thats the case
guess you cant have everything in life after all
I use icon changer. Only problem with it is that I haven't found how to zoom the icons from icon packs so they are awfully small when selecting.

Yes i tried that too. same problem. with desktop visualizer you can hide the icon label and have it blown up so its a better option imo
