[Q] Where are the Rented Videos saved on your phone? - HTC EVO 3D

Also, is there a way to save them? I've paid for it and I'm not trying to refund, if that's even possible.
I just want to watch it on my computer, and not my phone.
Ordered an MHL cable, but just can't wait.
Any way/idea?

By " saving them" on your phone your stealing practicly and i understand that you want to see them on a bigger screen but if it doesn't let you play on the network you won't been able to
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk

If you rented it from the market, you are set. The market ties it to your gmail account and if you go to the android market on your pc you can watch it there . Maybe you tube as well.

yeah i realized that about 30 minutes after posting.
I just wanted to let some friends see it.
I've seen it before. I just wanted to watch it on my tv.
I Have streaming youtube through my tv, but the movie isn't listed there
Guess i'll just have to end up buying the actual disc.
The movie is Elephant in the Living Room.
Everyone should check it out.
It's about a local cop (Dayton, OH), who is an exotic animal expert.
He talks about all of the animals he finds in big cities and stuff.
Also about this guy who has pet lions!
Great Docu.

[Q]Preventing a child from getting to the Market and Settings?

As I posted in the accessories section of the forum, I promised my brain injured son a netbook or tablet for his birthday. (The injury was to his right brain and his left brain is normal.) He will be 37 on Friday, but in a lot of ways he functions around 4 to 7 years old. And he loves to play Angry Birds on my HTC EVO View.
The director of his adult day care program and I talked at length about it. We came to the mutual conclusion that giving him a tablet is extremely risky. It has to be a 7" tablet with a Gorilla Glass screen and a battery that is not removable. I will be driving to Best Buy to pick up the Flyer they are holding for me as soon as I finish typing this.
In addition to my concerns about physically protecting it, I also need to make sure he can only go to a few appropriate websites and not get into things like the market or change it's settings.
Advice would be appreciated.
there are apps on the market that will set passwords on the apps you choose so they are locked
Honestly, wait for the kindle fire tablet. It has a more closed system. Wont have the full market, and has been touted as kid friendly. Take a look, might work for your needs.
Thanks for the replies. As I said in the Accessories forum, we were on our way to Best Buy this afternoon when he told me he would rather have $50 to spend on anything he wants at Toys R Us instead of a tablet. So I'm off the hook, at least for the moment.
With 15 grandkids to buy Christmas presents for, not having to spend the money right now makes me pretty happy. Perhaps when it comes out, the Kindle Fire might be a better choice. It's pretty much a sure thing a tablet will be on his list for Santa...
My 5 year old uses my tablet a lot and I installed an app called Seal that blocks him from the Market, Settings, Email, and a variety of other apps I don't want him using. It is pretty cool! Also, if you download the Market app in the Flyer forums, under Settings, you can specify a password for paid apps. Seal is better because it just completely blocks Market and other apps....
The Flyer has a built-in "Kid Mode" app that can do what you need. The latest version of Kid Mode (available in the Android Market) allows you to choose a set of apps (like Angry Birds) that your child can have access to, while blocking access to the rest of the system.
Kid mode is the best bet I use it as well. My two year old daughter plays this Dora game and backyardigans all the time on my tablet. Kid mode locks everything else up except for the certain games I allow her to play

[Q] protection apps for evo3d

ok our daughter is going to middle school and we got her an evo 3d (during the amazon .01 sale). I am looking for some app suggestions to lock the phone down to help with porn, etc. similar to norton family protect online.
I am also looking to track via GPS, and playing with Life 360's app which seems pretty cool, but the app tends to close (even though it's set to run in the background).
So as I start this stressful journey, I figured there were some parents out here already doing this (or trying) and could suggest.
Thanks.
invasion of privacy much.
**** if i had a gps tracker on me when i was a kid i woulda lived a very sheltered life. kids need to be able to lie about where there going occasionally don't take all the3 fun out of being a teenager

Lookout is similar to Norton, as far as blocking sites, I'm unsure whether it does that or not. Sprint offers family tracker for a monthly fee, I don't know of any other ones available.
Mobile Security offers parental controls for android. Check it out, free on the market.
twiztidninja - when its your kid, we can talk. If you have already and simply don't care of "never my kid" then that's another issue.
When I was a kid, well if we were lucky enough to get a playboy or something, it was the world. Now a simple mistype on a URL can bring hardcore porn as well as other sick things the internet has to offer and that's something I don't want to expose my 11 year old daughter (not a teenager as you assumed) to. The fact is it's a different and sick world now, and I don't have a problem with her going places, just want to know she is safe as best as I can. As for "kids need to lie", well maybe in your life that's acceptable, but were raising our kids differently. Then again, from your grammer and profanity on a public forum, I can see we already differ on other issues.
Twolazyg - thanks, http://www.mobiflock.com/ seems to be in beta and really looks like a great app and I will check the others as well.

Mhl/hdmi nfl?

I've been using the mhl adapter from t-mobile but can't seem to get NFL to show on screen. It shows the home screen on the TV but no NFL I'm assuming because copyrighted material won't play):
I saw on the market RealHdmi (that will show copyright materials) but its for droidX.
Anyone know what we can do about that?
Or should I be able to see NFL app already?
Any help/knowledge on this would be appreciated....
Sent from rezound.
Look but don't touch huh? Ah.. maybe this something I should already know. I saw a couple other threads but no one mentioned the limitations of mhl/hdmi.

I'm guessing netflix would be the same. Not sure if there is a way around it. I don't have the cord to try it out.
I just verified that the when the MHL adapter is plugged in, you can't watch the videos or live TV. The TV is black screen. When you back out of the video the content on the phone shows on the TV again. Sounds like something some dev needs to try and take care of. You can watch it on your phone but not output it? That's dumb!!!

I got rid of my netflix account so I can't try it!
NetFlix & Slingbox work fine for me, only the NFL app is blocked.
~John
NFL likes doing these things. you pay to watch, but that only includes YOU. they don't want you showing games on a TV with other people around because they won't make the money off it. pretty sure netflix output works, haven't gotten me an adapter yet. but blame the NFL (unless it works on other phones?) although it could be possible to hack the app to turn off detection.

Sorry but hacking the NFL app is like asking to be sued back into the dark ages. Those are some of the most richest and money hungry people around and they don't take kindly to people using their copyrighted(out the wazoo) material in a way that they don't approve of.
If you have to have that app so bad, go to T-Mobile.

I'll except any annoyance from the NFL. They've earned that imo. Just hoping someone knew a way and I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything to prevent it myself.
Also..... droidTV is working which is more than good enough for me. Might have to re-subscribe to Netflix.

Does anyone watch live tv on their Galaxy Note?

I'm currently trying to figure out a solution for watching the upcoming Olympics. No TV and no computer in the house. I can use DroidTV for the upcoming fall season of typical tv show's or I can go and use Google Play Store. Justin.tv doesn't really work with Chrome. I'd really like to watch ESPN on a regular basis...
What are you guys using for live tv?

You can joke all you want but I'm completely serious. I already use the Note for my books and shows, along with my daily browsing and email. It, obviously, handles my telephone needs along with any torrents I need. I unlocked it so I swap back and forth with different networks to handle the data needs. The large screen is a perfect substitute for a couple gadgets and it goes everywhere I do. I have access to everything in my collection via the mSD cards I swap out. It gets used for work as well. The extended battery combined with a Solar Joos gives me plenty of power. I'm tired of people not using these devices to their fullest potential. The only thing missing? Live TV.
(I'd actually like Note 2 to be a tad bit bigger, that might be perfect.)

Interesting. A step. Thanks for the link. Anyone else? How hard would it be to look a take this from a hardware solution? Does an external tuner exist that links to a mobile device? (An Elgato for mobile devices, not named iPad or iPhone?)
Well while I am out on the road I use my Note to watch Live TV.
if you are wanting to watch ESPN there is an app for it.. just ask a buddy of yours for their sign in with who ever they use for TV services.. log in under their name. and you are good...
I have Dish Network at me house. and they have a sling adapter that allows me to access my DVR at home, I can watch live tv on my phone from anywhere I want on my phone, i can access shows I had recorded etc.. again. just ask a friend for their sign in . and go from there.

I once had a calculator that I could play Super Mario on....I was 12 and I spent the whole two months during summer break convincing my mom to fork up the $300 I NEEDED for my math class. She finally did, and before class started, I flashed Super Mario on it, and I took it to class them first day of school, and showed my friends. I didn't play with it after that. Later that semester, I was in the computer lab between classes and I set my folder, my spiral notebook, my Pikachu pencil sharpener, and my Tamagachi on the floor. The chairs spun around 360 degrees. When it was time to leave, I thought I was a hotshot, so I pushed myself backwards, spun around and.....rolled over my calculator/super Nintendo, cracking the screen.
I replaced it with a 15 dollar algebraic calculator which had formulas stored In-ROM. It was easier to use, and therefore better.
I stuck with the TV for playing the classics.
Nonetheless:
http://www.slingbox.com/go/buy
I think they all work with OTA, if not, a couple do. But you need the internet. Which is kind of funny considering your willing to spend how ever many hundreds of dollars on data (hopefully unlimited) or the note 2 (hopefully on contract for the subsidy...otherwise you'll end up paying 750 bucks for it), instead of paying 25 bucks a month and a one time fee of a hundred or so bucks(and hopefully you can upgrade on contract for the subsidy).
The app:
http://www.slingbox.com/go/android
And I have NO idea why you're limiting yourself to chrome....or justin TV. You have flash support on the basic browser, and Ustream works fine. There's even an app for Ustream. Not to mention Sky Fire which was designed to cut out all of the issues that come with playing non-standardized video from weird websites.
Chrome is cool and all, but its just as wacky and buggy if not more so than the regular browser, and doesn't support flash.
You know your regular browser has flash support, because you mentioned Chrome not having said support--so I'm just gonna assume that this was meant to be a troll, rather than a plea (because of the not-so-inviting tone) and troll you right back, with love. Ill still give it my best, and ill give you the benefit of the doubt that either you're having a bad day, or just being a troll, because we "don't use our Note to it's full potential". So here's a dozen ways/resources for multiple continents, stations, and pipes.
(Just having fun. Seriously, don't get mad. Just returning the mood.)
But in all seriousness, I have a friend and he's used the slingbox in Japan, Australia, and all across Europe to access his DVR, and his Local channels in HD via an OTA antenna. There are websites, and depending on your country, carriers, broadcasters, cable companies, and satellite companies normally have special deals on sporting events.
If you live in Canada (XDA app is buggy so I can't view profiles, and this might be useful for others):
http://business.financialpost.com/2012/07/16/tablet-streaming-options-abound-as-london-2012-olympics-near/
And this for the US:
http://www2.insidenova.com/lifestyles/2012/jul/16/family-tech-stream-olympics-coverage-watch-every-e-ar-2060592/
http://tv.broadwayworld.com/article/NBC-to-Launch-Live-Stream-OLYMPICS-App-20120712
This will be a launch of an official Olympics streaming app.
No doubt you'll be able t find an App similar to the MLB's Season Pass thingy.
And I'm sure if there are apps only meant for a tablet, a simple build prop edit or other work around could be easily found and will be blasted all over the internet.
Lastly, the UK:

More:
http://www.examiner.com/article/live-stream-of-olympics-asia-and-africa-via-ioc-s-youtube-channel-1
And lastly: "10 Ways To Follow The Olympics".
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1257485-top-10-ways-to-follow-the-olympics
Hope this helped
(These were all found on the first page during a search for "stream Olympics". However, you can own your own pipes with an extremely cheap internet package, a relatively cheap box and a darn cheap antennae.)
Also, there's an interesting place on the east coast that will rent you an OTA antennae for extremely cheap, provided you actually live there, and let you stream it.
I edited this to make it nicer, as did others. For this stuff was sooooo easy to find I can't imagine it was a serious question. But I figured that I could provide something centralized to the community.
Haven't watched live TV but i did purchase the 2nd season of Falling Skies in HD thru the play store
for $23.99.
Have used my MHL adapter to watch the first 5 episodes via my 65 inch HDTV.
Just went to watch sunday's 6th episode and they want an another $2.99 for it!
