Hey there!
I´m searching for a notes app, that provides me with similar tools like the ones that HTC Flyer Owner can use. I´ve purchased a Wacom Bamboo Stylus for capacative screens, and...well...it works very good, I think.
The question is: Is there a port of the HTC flyer app (or something similar) that provides android user with the possibility to make screenshots and to use this bunch of pencils, colors etc.?
Or otherwise: Which apps do you recommend, that are usable for making drawings/notes on an android device (tablet)? There are a bunch of apps for the IOS, which seem to quite practical.
Does that "written silence" mean, that there aren´t such tools available at the moment?

So someone I know surprised me today by saying he's thinking of purchasing the Hero. See, the thing is that he's not the most tech savvy person in the world, and he admitted that he had hoped I would offer him help in using it and generally improve its usability.
Problem is that I'm a Windows Mobile guy. I really don't know anything more about Android than that it's Google's mobile OS. That's it.
So I was hoping some people here could answer the question I had of whether Android apps work across builds? For example, do the apps made for the HTC Dream work on the Hero?
As of currently, I know Google is making a hell of a lot of builds (Original, Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, and so on), and they seem to be making it at a hyperpace. I also imagine that this might continue for quite a while, so this is an important question to me.
Thank you to all for reading!
Currently all Android phones run the same OS and alle apps works cross-phones. There has been some conflict with apps running on the Hero because of the Sense UI but this can be fixed by turning Sense of or use an application called Bar control wich allows for use of the original UI with ease.
You should tell your friend not to worry, Android is pretty easy and basic in general use.
Dont take my word for gospel but this is my perspective and my experience as a Hero user. I love it and your friend is gonna love it to.
R. Duke, thank you for your answer and reassurance.
I had not realize that all of the Android phones were currently using the same build (I thought the Dream was using the original Android build and Hero was using the newer Cupcake), so I'm glad to hear there will be complete app compatibility.

Most Dreams would have either received an OTA update to 1.5 (Cupcake) or its owners have likely rooted their devices and applied a custom rom, but again these are all likely to be based on Cupcake.

I'm planning on getting the Sprint HTC Hero in October. Do you know of any conflicts with the following applications:
Astrid
PDANet
Where
Evernote(Web version)
Documents To Go
Sprite Backup
My Backup Pro
Last.fm
GPhone Manager Pro
Astro File Manger
AndExplorer
TasKiller
ReedR News Reader
Flixster
I doubt that any one can tell you definitively as the phone is not out, and even then I doubt someone is going to download and test such a specific list of apps. However, I moved from a G1 to a Hero, and not found a single compatibility problem yet. When the firmware on the G1 went to Cupcake, some apps did break, but in general they were fixed by their devs very quickly.

Dave
Well... there are actually some difference between the HTC Dream and all the other Android phones currently; the Dream have a physical keyboard. Imagine a game that uses the physical keyboard running on a phone with only the virtual keyboard (ScummVM to name one such app). How the hell are you supposed to use a function mapped to the "U" button without a keyboard?
The game Cestos for example have a chat function. The players can chat with each other during matches. Those with a Dream can easily chat while those witrh non-physical keyboards will have to press Menu and then press up the keyboard to start typing (it works but it isn't fluid).
I have got a couple of questions about applications available for android tablet that might allow one to use it as a convenient replacement for a laptop. Right now, I have the HP Touchpad running CM7 as my android tablet and I really love using it.
However my current gripe with it is that I can't seem to find any productivity applications that are decent enough to be used. I have a BT keyboard which is paired with the tablet, and it was initially purchased with the intention of using the tablet as a document reader, as well as typing documents, spreadsheets, emails etc. Less of emails, but more of documents and spreadsheets.
The current applications I have tried seem to be quite unsatisfying when it comes to handling documents and spreadsheets. I have tried several office applications, such as Documents to Go, Kingsoft Office, Quickoffice, and of course Google Docs. Word documents are still barely acceptable, but spreadsheet functionality is greatly hindered. Are there other office applications which have a better word processor and spreadsheet processor?
The next issue I have would be note taking, considering it is a 10" tablet, I was thinking of getting a capacitive pen and scribble away over pdf documents and all. However I can't seem to find any applications that can allow me to do that. I find that this sort of applications are really convenient for note taking especially for students like myself. Are there applications that allow one to do such stuff which I have missed out or is there a lack of such applications in the android market?
Hope to have some recommendations to try around!
I found one called MakeNotes: https://market.android.com/details?...wxLDEwNCwiY29tLm1ha2Vtb2JpbGUubWFrZW5vdGVzIl0.
Then there's also PenSupremacy, but that one is paid: https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEwOSwiY29tLmFwa2luZy51bHRpcGVuIl0.
I've used the search facility for these forums, and also google searched but have come up with no leads..............
does anyone know if the 'Footprints' app from HTC phones have ever made it/being converted for the Note 2? I know there are similar apps on the Play store but these don't seem to be quite as good from my initial play. For anyone unsure, the 'Footprints' app is like a bookmarking app/widget for geotagged photos with the location information etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Me too
One app may be close to htc Footprint
Hi,
Did you ever find the replacement app for htc footprint for your Note II?
I was a heavy footprint user myself on my htc EVO 4g until I moved to Note II. I have tried a few apps that could be a replacement but none of them really did what footprint was capable of, either for bugs or limited functionality. I recently found a feature in "Find My Car" application that it comes close (not 100 percent though).
You can continue to save locations & rename them to what you want & sort them. If you get the paid version (by contributing / donating to the author), you will be able to back up & restore your saved locations. However, Footprint was something else & could do almost everything with "one click".
Thanks

Been out of the game for awhile and wanted to get some input. I have an existing NC that I am replacing with an 8GB Nook Tablet I just bought on eBay. (Touch screen of NC has become unresponsive.)
We use the tablet as an "information station" in the kitchen - time, calendar, weather, news, etc. - so there aren't many apps used besides various widgets and Chrome. Needs to be stable and responsive with a fairly recent version of Android. Any thoughts on the best/easiest ROM for my needs?

Hi guys,
as the pen works really phenomenal on our Tablet and My S7+ is like made for drwaing, I wanted to ask which app you use for that?
The already installed Samsung apps are not what I'm really looking for.
On the Computer I use Paintshop Pro to paint and to work on Fotos.
Which one would be best to get the features from PaintShop Pro?
If it is freeware, I would be even more happy
I would recommend SketchBook 100%. Im using it myself and its full of features every artist needs.
SketchBook
Sketchbook was what I found so far.
Fits most of what I need. Just wanted to know if there is something even better.
I mostly want to work on existing Fotos and there are not so many filters and things for that.
I've tried most now and the best I've come across is infinite painter. It has a minimalistic ui but this is deceiving, spend some time with it and you'll find that it's very capable.
I've used Sketchbook for years. It's excellent, but they seem to have stopped updating it since it went 100%
I also use Infinite Painter, it has some really good brushes and the grids/guides are amazing. It's had a major update on iOS and the new features are headed to Android soon.
I've also tried out Clip Studio Pain at the TAB S7+ comes with a free trial. It is amazing, but I don't like the subscription pricing.
If you want to see my drawings, check out @sketchUK on instagram - I usually include the app name in the description, so you can see what I've used.
Infinite Painter FTW
It's as close to a Photoshop android app as I've been able to find.
You might want to check out Krita. It's an open source app designed for desktop, but ported to Android.
With this screen, it should work out well. My device isn't here yet, but the app is free.
ETA: YouTube video link:
Infinite Painter is Crapware - Spyware - Malware
Tried Infinite Painter after reading here. First of all I got alarm about two trackers. After starting message appears that the app does not run without play services.
So far so good.
Tried to uninstall the app to find out that it was not possible to uninstall.
I had to do a factory reset to get the app off my tablet.
The device is new and untouched, I should not have to use adb tool to actually get rid of this crapware.
Keep your fingers off this app
I seem to always find myself back using Medibang paint. it's for the most part free and easy to navigate and use also with a whole online community and database of online tools and downloads. Cloud saving. Frequent updates.

Krita
Krita
Krita is a professional FREE and open source painting program. It is made by artists that want to see affordable art tools for everyone.

..and to see just how capable it is, always go to the user manual; that's where the real story is told.
Welcome to the Krita 5.0 Manual!

Not sure about S-pen compatibility, though...
EDIT: I did a search of this thread for 'krita', saw no results, made this post, then saw that it was already mentioned by @undrwater

From here:
The developers of the editing program have converted the full version of Desktop 4.29 to Android environment. This implies that the interface is not 100% suitable for touch control, but works great on tablets with a stylus, as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy Tab. We tested Krita on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and the feeling was very positive: the app not only allows editing of images and lines, it is also very well suited for use with the S Pen. It even detects different pressure levels for drawing.

Krita is working really well with S Pen.
You can also deactivate touch input for any painting and then your palm will not "paint" while using the S Pen.
Also the pressure is really nicely configurable within Krita.
Can fully recommend this app, thanks for mentioning it here - as I didn't know it before
I'm also looking for a good drawing app right now. I want to try it and learn how to draw in the application. This will make my work easier and faster. For now, I only draw on paper and improve my skills. The drawing ideas on partnersinfire.com help me with this. However, I understand that now is the time that I need to learn to be friends with technology. There are many areas where all artists work in applications, and I understand this. So if anyone can recommend a good app, I'll be grateful.
I’m using a samsung galaxy tab s7+ (12,4 inches),and you can use clip paint studio painting app on it, which you can synchronise with your pc/mac. The stylus is great and drawing experience is excellent.
