Has not happened to me as of yet. But below is a link to a replacement speaker. Includes a pry tool and instructions.
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-thunderbolt-earpiece-speaker-replacement.html

My ear speaker on my original Thunderbolt blew out, but only because I dropped it about 3 feet onto pavement. The phone looked and acted OK until I received a phone call and could barely hear the caller. I had it replaced with insurance and have been very careful ever since!

Fixed the loudspeaker/ringer myself.

I had the buzzing distortion problem with my speaker. The Sprint techs ineptly replaced it with a vastly inferior speaker you could barely hear. So I ordered the speaker for $12, pulled the rinky dink speaker dropped the new one in, put the phone back together and bam, feels and sounds like a new MoPho! The repair took all of 6 minutes.

You prolly went to an unfavorable sprint store. I can tell you as a sprint employee that I hear a lot of our customers complain about specific stores that have done them wrong. The reason for the difference in quality of service varies from dealer to dealer as most stores are not corporate owned!

Warranty replacement for headphone jack

I had heard about it before, the headphone jack being bad. Mine is officially ****ting the bed.
Cuts out a lot and those Shure headphones that cost over $300 were not going bad after all.
A short phone call to Verizon and they are shipping me a new one. Certified like new replacement anyway.
Hope it doesn't happen again. If it does, maybe they will hook me up on a Note 2.

More often then not a simple paperclip can resolve this issue. It's usually just pocket lint that inhibits the headphone plug from making contact with the jack.
~SU!C!D3~ on Tapatalk
I wish that were the case but looking into the jack with flashlight reveals all clean metal contacts and no foreign material.
I get hissing, volume loss, and random issues with volume not working.
Wish it were a paperclip solution.

So you just called Verizon and explained the issue and they just sent you a like new one? My headphone jack and vibrator are all messed up. I can't go in to store cause I have broken screen and they won't do jack.

Did it over the phone and they shipped a new one. If they receive a jacked up phone they will charge you. Mine is flawless mind you.

Got my certified like new replacement. Good to have functioning headphone jack.
Screen does not have black spots either.
Edit: still have some darkies.

Now getting my second replacement for the phone. This first replacement seems to be missing something in the kevlar backing plate and there is an air gap in it.
Didn't notice it until a couple of hours of having it and then when grabbing the phone I felt the back press in.
Called warranty again and they were very adamant regarding the replacement of said replacement. Citing issues with battery and their toxicity.
Hope the next one is perfect.

Going on third replacement. They don't seem to use enough adhesive on reassembly and the sides creak and bend in when you hold phone. Very annoying.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
I must admit, QA or QC is severely lacking wherever it is they rebuild these things. My 3rd replacement has a dark line going down the right side of screen a half inch from bezel. Basically one long dark blotch, the ones you see on a dark screen.
When doing a screen test app it does not show up.
Should I go for the 4th replacement?
Other than that, the body on this was reassembled properly.

For all of the comments of quality regarding Motorola phones, these refurbs are built like steaming piles of you know what!
Now it is starting to get irritating. The back panel on this most recent phone has that air gap. Last I knew kevlar would not press in like a piece of paper.
That and the screen lined.
Last moto phone I will own. Just not worth it.

Finally got a good one. Try number 4!

The small metal ring in the jack-plug is missing from my phone (it went missing after the phone suffered a dreadful fall), and it appears that it played some role in ensuring proper connection judging by the poor reliability I get with any headphones now. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to replace it?
If the phone is in good condition, warranty swap if possible. You could call vzw as well and they may be able to fix it.

Note 2 speaker grille

Is the middle bar raised on your note back covers?

Sorry, can this be moved to q and a
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah. I think it's for when you are using the speaker, and place the phone on a table, it gives some room for the sound to come out, and not be muffled.

Ah, ok that would make sense. I never noticed it with the demo note 2's I held. Thanks!

I wish all Android phones were made with speakers in the front of the device. I saw a case maker at CES, I forgot their name but they make a case for the phone that channels the speaker sound to the front of the device. Hella cool.

Yeah I hate how the speakers on the back of the phones and tablets.... when I rest it on my bed, it does sound like a nokia
Everything you do with your phone your looking at your screen. So why not put the speakers on the same side as the screen and keep a seperate speaker for ring tones and notifications on the back.
Naw um sayin.

I bet its more to do with lack of space.
If they put the loudspeaker on the front where would it go. Have you thought of that? Lol

Come on man. we have created a device that will snatch a specific signal out of the air and translate that signal into a voice or words. I am almost positive someone somewhere can figure out how to project the sound up front. Shoot as far as that's concerned ... from what I see flip the thing over right where it is and send it out around the home button. Just design some fancy grill or screen. I know you've held you hand behind the phone as to redirect the speaker sound toward you...so you see sound can be thrown to a degree. I'm sure this could be done inside the phone too.

What if they shot it out of the charger port and slightly curved to towards the front? But then apple would sue samsung for having the speaker on the bottom of the phone lol.

I don't know if anyone has seen a youtube video of a company at ces, I forgot the name but they make a case for your phone where it channels the speaker sound to the front of the device, kinda like holding your hand behind the phone to redirect the sound. Something else to consider...don't crack the screen

http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+Teardown/13494/1
Just read this report from ifixit. They say it gets the worse repairability score ever! This means it will be nearly impossible to repair if you crack the screen and you'll have to keep insurance on this beast. I fix phones all the time so this is important to me. I feel it affects the long term value of the phone. HTC is making phones that look really good no the outside but the inside is designed to be a disposable device. I've got a problem with that. How do you guys feel about this?
You're really late.... There are other topics about this already.

What screws? They got the screen off and then a layer of foam padding, then found no other way to get the PCB and everything else out without pulling it out and damaging some of the plastic seating in the process.

Yea, they really jacked that phone up. I can't wait to get my hands on one and try it the right way. But it still looks daunting.

Anybody getting HTC boombass or HTC fetch

Sent from my HTC0P3P7 using xda app-developers app
I will be getting the boom bass and the power jacket and the Mimi plus in about maybe another week. Won all of it from the HTC Elevate meet up in Los Angeles 2 weeks ago so just waiting for them to ship it to me. So once I get it I'll answer any questions. I hand some hands on time with both already at the even any questions? I might be able to answer now.

Very nice. But I'm planning on getting one I've seen reviews on utube. Do u think it gives a nice amount of bass and battery life
Sent from my HTC0P3P7 using xda app-developers app
Yea it handles the bass very well give the music more depth. As far as battery life Idk because I only seen it at an event but I did hear the dude saying around 7 or so hours. And it was very loud at the event and the bass played through very the crowd very well. But like I said now much hands on with it.

Boom Bass and Battery Case
I have both the Boom Bass and the battery flip case.
I love the flip case. I can easily go a couple of days without charging my phone with moderate use. I just got back from Japan and used the Max instead of my nexus 7 on the plane. I watched about 8 hours of movies (5 movies) with headphones and around 60% screen brightness. When I landed at LAX I still had 54% battery left.
I was very impressed and with the larger screen size I am finding it hard to keep my Nexus 7.
The Boom Bass is kind of cool. It does not appear to be crossed over at the right frequency. You can still hear some of the mid-range coming from the Boom Bass. Don't get me wrong in the hotel room it really made it to where I do not need to carry my Jambox anymore. Just wished it sounded a little bit better.
I am not sure of the battery life of the Boom Bass (They claim 9 hours). I used it for about an hour every morning in my hotel room for 5 days. Never had to recharge during the trip.

Got them both from the HTC UK website. The flip case from the UK comes with a stylus holder which I cut off since I don't use a stylus..
A little bit more expensive, however I had a visa gift card leftover from my birthday...

That's dope like the wireless speaker. But I'll check out that website thanks. I ended up getting 64gb class 10 sdcard few cases and 3 packs of screen protectors. And Sprint sold me a 30$ bodyglove and I got 7 items on Amazon for 55$

Actually went to buy phone at full retail. Said i was elligible for upgrade through edge if i turned my razr in. I dont even have the razr anymore. So he was determined not to sell me this phone at retail. Talked to his manager and said for me to buy out contract and start me on edge. He started pulling 3 cases screen protectors car charger and extra house charger, beats pill, bose speaker. I was like i dont usually buy accessories from vzw(too expensive). Told me it came with the phone. All together i paid $342.00 for everything.

I was thinking about getting an official stylus. I'm glad there is a slot. Did they address the issue of being able to properly prop the phone up due to weight unlike the regular sized one?

The case worked as a stand for me without much issue. If you let the phone slide down too much it does fall flat. I was able to get a good angle sitting on the plane food tray that worked fine for several hours straight....
The extra battery life is what I really like about the case.......

On that note, from what I've heard, the Bluetooth connection somehow is supposed to only send the bass part to the Boom Bass and play the rest of the sound via the front facing built in speakers, right? If that's true, can we use other Bluetooth speakers and get the phone to keep the front facing speakers still on?
