How to upgrade ADW? I tried to install new from Market, but it does't on phone!
Test multiple ROMs.
Nobody knows what suits you
OK. I have solved the problem. I installed another LAUNCHER from Market, Reboot phone, and selected that LAUNCHER as default action!!!!
Now I can remove the icons from taskbar!!!

On the G1 you could hold down the call+Menu+hangup and it would reboot.
Is there a hidden key combo for the Vibrant? Normally I either shutdown and then restart or I use Terminal and type "reboot"
Anyways if anybody knows please speak up. I reboot now and then tinkering.
been wondering the same thing!
Press and hold Power button long enough /in my case more then 10 seconds/

Hey thanks. It was kinda like 8 seconds for me, but whos counting.
I have not found one.. Although if you search the Market there is a "quickboot" app, you can make a shortcut on your homescreen and with a click of the icon it reboots.
This is the best alternate to it...
I hold down the volume buttons [up and down] while the phone is off. Boot up and wait for it.
^ he is talking about rebooting, not recovery.
Thanks for the tip kizer/gad13.. I added it to the sticky.
Yeah thanks for adding it to the sticky. I was going to follow up with another PM to you to make sure if there is a mention to who discovered it, it would go to Gad13 since well he told me. LOL
updated it, thanks guys.

Agree. This is what I do as well. Except I don't have a shortcut because I might accidentally click it.

just wondering...are you trying to accomplish a task during a phone call?
Try this app from the Play Store, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiumiu.ca.statusbar.free. Not sure if it will work because I don't have a Note yet.

I'd say that is the workaround. That's the same thing I do on my MB508.

because you are supposed to be single focused talking to your spouse/significant other while on the phone...not split attention multitasking. They have thought of everything on the NOTE.
Why don't you hit Home button, then you be able to pull the status bar down during a call...

What he said. I just hit the home button and I can use every function on the phone from there.

Brings me back to my original reply... What's the purpose? Lol. . .

It prevents you from accidentally doing things while on the phone. It's like screen unlock when you're on the phone.
Perfectly plausible situation:
Your caller asks, "may I please have Nancy's number?" and you say, "why yes, please hold while I send you the contact card via email."

Anyway The press home is known. I was just wondering if this is a bug or intentional.
why are u complaining about just having to hit the home button first? it literally takes half a second?
It gets me every time! then i say to myself DUH press home... :0p

I switch data connection by quick panel and it does not show up any notification. It does what you want. Try it

I from some time use quick panel. I do not know or exactly this. I wanted to download from this side and to test, but I can't download from this side no version.
Sorry man it's like that, and that's the way it is!

Okay I got it, now this is strange... I never get the notification when I use quickpanel. I get the notification only after restart or when I use setting or data widget.
Edit: I have a different framework with a lot of modification, that might be the reason.
1. Use the Search button before posting a new topic.
2. Go to
system/etc/customization/settings/com/android/phone
Click to collapse
Open custom_settings.xml file, search for this line
<setting key="data-connection-except-mms-show-icon-when-disabled" runtime="false">true</setting>
Click to collapse
Change it to this
<setting key="data-connection-except-mms-show-icon-when-disabled" runtime="true">false</setting>

And reboot your phone.
If there is no such folder/stuff, go to this topic and use the flashable zip file. That was on my LWW.
Thanks to the Search button and this topic.
Thank you. Everything is ok now. I did not think, that this will be such straight lines.
I donn't have "phone" folder so I had to use file "zip". All acts so as now it should.
I uninstalled some applications and after that, main menu is empty in some points.
Is it possible to arrange icons in menu in order to fill these gaps?
If you click the button that allows you to arrange icons (the four little squares) and then exit that mode it should pull them all together closing any gaps (or you can use the mode to arrange them yourself).

It doesn't let me move icons in the gaps and it neither pull them all together in that mode.
I hope there is other solution.
Restarted yet?
Also the pull together happens when you exit that mode after entering it.
go to setting/applications/all
then find xperia home
and clear data...
it might solve your problem...

I restarted the phone but nothing changed.
It doesn't pull them together if i enter and exit that mode.
I don't know if it matters but i uninstalled the applications by going in settings-->Applications-->Manage applications--> choose application and then uninstall.

Hi there, I just got the Moto Z (Droid). Its got its quirks but it's a pretty good phone. Who in their right mind decided that the left-most panel is good for being a homescreen? It's completely nerve-wrecking for me! I do not like third-party launchers like Nova or even Google launcher. Is there some way I can set the homescreen to the middle?
Thanks sooooo much in advance!

Yes but when you press the circle button to bring you to your homescreen it goes to the left-most panel, not the one in the middle.

No solution then...? It's a relatively easy thing to patch in, I wonder if we can get motorola/lenovo to add it in.
