Here we go with yet another unlock solution.
This one applies to almost (if not all) devices which are radio S-off, it’s fairly easy to use and doesn’t wipe data/settings nor have that ugly side effect (when using diag files) in which you lose conectivity to mobile network.
Supported devices so far:
HTC Sensation (pyramid)
HTC EVO 3D GSM (shooteru)
HTC myTouch Slide 4G
Click to collapse
(by the use of revolutionary)
and:
Sprint EVO 4G
Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
(by the use of unrevoked 3 – not tested)
These are the required steps you have to take:
1. S-off your phone by using Revolutionary (if you haven’t already done that).
2. Fill in the form with the required data. This will generate an unique Config.dat file for your device. Please enter a valid email address, as you’ll be sent there the link to download the file.
This step you'll have to take here
3. Put the file on the root of your sdcard and reboot your phone into HBOOT (adb reboot oem-42). Once you’re there, navigate to Simlock and press Power. The phone will load the file and remove the simlock. Some text will appear on the screen and at a certain point you’ll be asked to press Vol-Up to restart the phone.
4. Just do it, and you’ll be done!
PLEASE NOTE!:
This solution is heavily linked to the device it's being applied to by the use of IMEI, which can be considered a breach in security.
DISCLAIMER:
This solution provided for you on this site is given AS IS and in GOOD FAITH and is based on the research I made. I may not accept any liability or responsibility for the use of this applicaton.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE!:
This is still an experimental solution, it may or it may not work! I didn't have all those devices to test, that's why I ask you to post your experiences, either bad or good. If it didn't work for you, reply here in the thread with the errors you had and in the mean time pm me your imei and the .dat file that was generated on the site and I'll manually review it.
ANOTHER ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE!:
As this method isn't 100% proved to be working, please do not hurry out and judge it / me; I've spent time to figure it out and I'm offering it out for free. Reporting this thread because it didn't work for you (scam-like) is actually quite rude and it's only making a bad advertising of this community. If you have something against it, just don't use it; let others who need (and maybe appreciate) it use it!
If you find this tool useful and appreciate my work, Paypal me a beer, it helps development a lot..

thats because it is pointless for the 3D on a CDMA network and will not work. the OP should have stated this is for GSM 3Ds and posted it in the GSM Development section instead of here.

no idea but you cant sim unlock a phone that doesnt have a sim card. you can however, flash to metro or cricket but thats about it.
You do realize, I hope, that I don't have all those devices and I couldn't do all the the tests to make everyone happy. Don't judge me wrong, I just shared my work with those who might benefit from it..

Works perfectly !!!
Unlocked friends HTC Evo 3D (same one from user shonens), took some time, but it was worth of it...
Would gladly buy you a beer if my country had a paypal service :-(

Shooter = Evo 3D for those of us who don't pay attention. So that's confirmation that we will be getting it.
As for the video itself, it apparently wasn't supposed to be set to be viewed publicly.
ieftm said:
It was meant to be uploaded. Just not stuck on 'public'. Hence "leak", as in, prematurely outed.
And yes, I uploaded it. No doubt about that. So while unfortunate that it got out before we were ready to do so, meh. it happened. I'm already over it.

Also, here's a LINK to the download for the boot animation in the video, in case you're a portal fan. (It's just the boot ANIMATION.)
As for all the whining in the thread: These guys are volunteers, they do their work for free. They aren't done yet, and we weren't even supposed to know about it for a while. Don't get your panties in a twist just cause they have it and you don't. If you're going to return your phone cause you can't has S-Off, go ahead. We don't mind. Really.
We'll know when it's finished and available. Word spreads here like a wildfire, so just wait... Patience is a virtue! And stuff. Give em a high five and a hug for all their hard work.
If you feel like throwing them a monetary bone, HERE is a link to their web page. The donate link is half way down on the right side.

Well hell, share this with the rest of the world and we'll get it working...
My goal was not to make anyone mad or to proclaim I had a fix. I simply wanted an answer to my question. I am sorry to those I obviously offended by asking such a question. Though I could have asked Yay before I posted I honestly didnt think this thread was going to go where it did. I dont know what happened to cause my phone to shw 4g coverage (or lack there of according to yay) but I wanted to get someone elses impression of my account and see if had been something I done. Like I said many times now my apologies. I dont come on here to troll or misguide anyone. I am a firm believer in helping out when I can which is what my initial comment was trying to do, but I was just simply called a liar (though I can understand skeptisism) I dont want to waste anymore time defending my character. If YAY or any other dev wants to talk you have my contact information. I will be trying the dsixda kitchen to see if we can build a rom with that kitchen since the atrix can, hopefully I can redeem myself so to speak...lol.. have a blessed day people.

I knew that I wasn't unlocked. This is my second photon. The other was unlocked. I was thinking the source of the 4g problem was flashing the modified bootloader. Could it possibly be in Rom Racer's Recovery that is breaking the wimax keys? Has to be that or the oem unlock. Any ideas?
This was already one of the original ideas and I believe it was found out not to be it. There is a lot to be learned on the unlock bootloader thread.
For those asking for a video I will not be posting one as I don't have the luxury to take time to make a video to prove my phone has 4g. I simply stated what I did while unlocking and asked if others did the same. I don't need any credibility given from anyone as I have been helping people for quite some time now on here.
The reality of it is I have 4g after unlocking my device but I don't know how. It was a simple question to see if anyone else experienced it ..... if not then we know that, that was not the reasoning behind it! But I will post screen shots when I get back to a area with 4g...

Well i dont see the point in your post other than trolling the video is so we can verify that you are indeed in unlock status and have 4g. You could have unlocked your phone flashed rom nandroided relocked and recovered from bootstrap and think you still have 4g and unlock status but that wouldnt be the case. Its just to cover all bases, if you want to help others than that would be the first step then you could get with yay and figure it out.

Agreed, the fact that you just want to"kinda" help everyone out is bothersome, in that making a video is in fact the only way it can be proven. Creditable or not, it really is the only way. Screenshots do nothing. You don't need a 1080p hd video explaining all the ends and outs. Just a quick 40 second jobber showing us unlock status and 4gees.

You aren't understanding anything, that's your first problem. It isn't him you are proving something too, its everyone on that forums, every single person here is wanting what you supposedly have. Being a prick about it only shows that you really don't have what you say you do, because anyone that did would be going crazy right now trying to find a camera that records, which almost all do nowadays. You are the one being selfish here. If you truly wanted to help the community, you would be doing anything you could.

I believe you and hope its not a misunderstanding. Call it wishful thinking, but i dont think you would have those thanks unless you were actually helping others and you deserve the benefit of doubt. Hopefully you're able to help Yay shed some light on this dilema.
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.
If you should require support, please feel free to contact us via the support section of our website, http://www.htc.com

That'a actually another reason why I don't want to rush to obtain s-off because even if we get it we may lose it with the OTA. Would be our luck. We know that HTC read these so what's to stop them from being like "Huh. This Binary100100 bastard figured out how to get around s-on. Let's patch that with ICS! That'll show them!"
you have a point.. but what about if your wrong? i hope your right though
forgive my ignorance, But has any phone ever been granted S-off through HTC? If so...I hate them for not giving us S-off

No, and most likely never will because it invalidates the very reason S-on is enabled. We've (the community) always developed a way to bypass the signature as far back as I can remember, but they've figured out a way to make it more difficult to accomplish with the Amaze.
I think if we make enough noise, perhaps they'll create a tool that allows overwriting the signature. My optimism always gets the best of me!

I believe its the lack of developers for the amaze, the rezound is newer than our phone and I believe they have achieved S-off, It's hard to say because that phone is a CDMA phone, but never the less if they have figured out a way to make it more difficult it should be for all the new HTC phones, which doesn't seem to be the case.

The rezound is S-on as well. It seems to me like every highend HTC device launched in the last 3-4 months have run into a brick wall in regards to s-off.

my mistake I was under the impression they had attained S-off, uh, HTC c'mon.
Maybe we should join up with some of these communities with recent HTC phones to fight for s-off

You sure this is the one for WIMAX? I pulled it but didn't notice any difference between it when locked vs unlocked. The key length is also not the same as a RSA key from the evo 4g.
Doesn't osh=webtop?

What makes you think it's the RSA key? Can't imagine our best devs would have missed that after 6+ months!
A quick google shows:
http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53946
The snakeoil cert is the default ssl cert for services that use ssl in the linux distribution like the apache default ssl vhost (see file /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl).
Please google it yourself next time before starting an incorrect thread.
My bad, i sent a pm to jokersax11 and he told me that it is the cert for the internet, but i actually foumd this one in the wimax folder:
/ETC/WIMAX/CERTS/COMMERCIAL_PRV_PLAIN_KEY.PEM
I dont have 4g towers around me so if someone could please check this out, and let me know if it works

Pretty sure that is also not the private key we are looking for. It is not unique for each photon(is in the SBF files) and appears to be the wrong size.

Jeez - again, do you not think our devs are smart enough to have examined all obvious files in the last 6-8 months?
Please stop posting! You are wasting everyone's time!!!!!!!!!!
you want unlocked bootloader and 4g, prolly not gunna happen. but if we band together as a community and figure this tidbit out
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kexec
like the guys on teh razr did we can boot custom kernels after the bootloader checks have been done... as seen here. which means bootloader = locked =4gees but with a custom kernel and of course the only ones people care about are the cm ones but thats all a bit in the future

Very nice and polite post.
But - PLEASE do not encourage newbs to post random files that our devs likely looked at sometime last year.
"Don't feed the trolls"
since they got it working on the razr last month and its been spreading back to other moto devices i really doubt anyone has looked at it last year
just cuz i got the e4gt doesnt mean i havent kept in touch with people. i still idle every day in the photon irc channel

I agree. I left this here for a few days to see where it was going. Have to give benefit of a doubt.

any work arounds?
1. Yes, you can still flash ROMs even on the new hboot.
2. All you have to do is use RegawMOD to do everything, and then flash a couple of SU zips.
3. Questions belong in the Q&A section.
In the future, never accept an ota

Im sure you could still do the HTC's unlock. Can you?

Well, what I'm going to probably do is accidentally my phone, then get another without the HBOOT problem. Unless I can be more patient, but...S-OFF = awesome. .
You can do HTC unlock which is what I had to do... Works great. I am enjoying all the roms as if I was s-off

But it's not S-OFF!!! Everyone wants S-OFF. I want S-OFF. And I'm impatient. I want to flash my damn splash screen and boot screens and stuff. Grrrrrrrrrr....
BUT...I love this phone. I want to break it and get another, but then I feel like I'm breaking my small child or something...and that's never fun.

Good advice!
...not as much fun, though.
EDIT: Just to clarify, the previous doesn't mean that I can't wait, it just means that I feel the frustration of others who had bad things happen (like OTA updates!). We'll get it, though. Still a new phone, still lots of fun stuff to play with....and at least we have the HTC Unlock available, and can still get root.
Am I that drunk, or is this thread that retarded?

Well.. Someone complained and blamed HTC for their own mistake, and then someone else decided they wanted to purposely break their phone in order to get a new one.
So it's probably as silly as it looks.
Being S-off is overrated. Its the same as being HTC Unlock.

That's not exactly true after this last update. If I recall correctly, if you HTC Unlock on 1.22, you can't flash kernels through recovery, you have to do it another way. I think there were other things we couldn't do anymore as well.

Absolutely not my good sir. In Addition to flashing kernels, you can't flash radios, splash screens, ect through recovery and you can't flash anything not signed by HTC via bootloader
