Hi everyone,
I have searched XDA-developers and Google and was unable to find any ROMs, generic or not, relating to the ST18a model of the Xperia Ray.
Does anyone have access to this ROM? Or is there a way for me to extract it from my device?
It's be very useful for rooting and whatnot.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hey there,
Can you point me to a good tutorial for making your own ROMs from your own device?
Problem solved
Hi, I'm from Mexico, and I was having the same issue you have.
Couldn't get a St18a rom anywhere.
I found this web site:
www(dot)wotanserver(dot)com/en/page/tutorial-debranding-flash-sony-ericsson
They say you have to download the driver package and then a flasher software.
I was a bit unconfident about it.
But since i already had flash tool and had mounted a St18i rom.
The worse could happen, was to have the need to reflash it again.
So, i tried and it worked, just as it said.
You just install the programs, run them, start your phone in flash mode, it detects it and install the driver. Then you have a list of compatible roms, select Generic Us (st18a) and that's it, let it work. It will flash it and tell when its over.
Next, you turn it on, and you have a St18a debranded phone :-D
They ussually charge for this services, by now, you just have to registere and can make 1 flash, totally charge free.
Hope I help you, just as much as all XDA developers have help me trought all my devices.
Best of lucks!
can somebody post stock st18A kernel as i crushed mine and can't download it to reflash
Is anyone with the ST18a nice enough to upload the official ROM? Would it be safe to flash an ST18i ROM on an ST18a?
ST18a and ST18i are based on the same firmware, the only difference is 3G working band.
I am not sure, but the ROMs should work on both. As I said, I am not sure, if someone would confirm this, would be nice.
Just the baseband files from original ST18a ROM would be needed.
I would rather not risk it, might try and find someone that has an ST18a running the stock ROM. Mine should be running the stock ROM, though I wanted to try flashing it with a different one, as it has a battery indicator problem, and I am not sure whether the issue is software or hardware related yet.
Need ST18A 4.0.2.A.0.42 Gingerbread 2.3.4 Stock Firmware also...
Xperia Ray ST18A Canadian (TELUS) came with ICS with too many Problems. Downgraded to 4.0.2.A.0.42 CE (Central Europe) which rebrands phone as ST18i which results in not finding Rogers/Fido 3G. Only 2G. Looked everywhere for the North American 0.42 Version of Gingerbread because it can be Rooted without unlocking Bootloader. I have not found this FTF File ANYWHERE I have searched. I have been looking for over a week. If I find this I will give it to anyone who needs. If someone has it please come here. Thanks!

Hi All,
I've recently purchased an X10 and while its quite a nice phone, I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot nicer if it was running 2.1 - some things which are "missing" in 1.6 have started to annoy me haha.
To this end, it would appear Telstra are about the slowest telco on the planet to release an update. My current firmware is as follows:
X10a
Country: Australia, Brand: Telstra
Phone Software Version: 1227-4612_R2BA023 GENERIC
I understand that if I follow a tutorial such as the "Debrand your Xperia X10 [Tutorial]" on xperiax10.net (google finds it, I'm not allowed to link yet sorry!) and debrand it, SEUS will then automatically update my phone to 2.1 next time I try to update.
Can anyone tell me what is a good X10a firmware for use in Australia? Note that it needs to be X10a since I use an 850MHz "nextg" network. The list on the link above appears to give me a rather limited set of choices, none of which sound generic or australian (what makes latin america latin america??).
If anyone could give me some hints that would be most apprecitated!
Thanks,
Tom

Which no doubt stems from xda, so you might as well use the original guides from here.
X10Flash 2.1 final & 2.1 Firmware (Update Flasher 14.11.2010)
That will debrand and update you to 504 firmware, then you can install xRecovery, then install a prerooted .24 which is the latest FW, which can't be rooted in the usual methods just yet.
And give this a read too - Step By Step Flashing 1.6 - 2.1
Aside of Xperiax10user advice. After you are done with the upgrade to. 504 2.1 version I recommend you to follow this easy thread to install Xrecovery, delete Junk apps and install Zdizihu's JIT v2...

After that you'll be set to start enjoying your X10...

1. Watch this tutorial.
2. Go here and download the flash tool and the X10a 2.1 world generic.
3. Flash the firmware as in the tutorial.
4. Enjoy!
Tom, I had exactly the same issue with Telstra. My brother is with Optus and had his months ago. I finally cracked it and de-branded my phone, installed 2.1 and it all went fine. Trust me its worth it. Then i rooted it and have'nt looked back... goo luck mate
Hi,
Thanks for the advice! I followed the tutorial and updated to 504, then flashed again to .24, however on both of these my bluetooth does not work :-/ Windows 7 shows nothing in the services menu and the phone seems to pair with devices but never connect. Also the .24 ROM available appears to have been a X10i ROM, this doesn't seem to have mattered though as 850MHz HSDPA still seems to work.
Any thoughts on fixing bluetooth?
I haven't installed the rooted version btw and I'm not quite sure what xrecovery does? Thanks!!
Fixed BT - turns out it didn't like to talk to my MacBookPro on Windows - updating Boot Camp drivers to 3.2 fixed that.
As for xrecovery, what does it do? And how does one root 0.24?
Thanks for the help!

You could have saved time and flashed straight to it using SEUS if you didn't want to root.

Allows you to flash to the phone at boot, so you can install custom and user ROMS, themes, and pretty much anything else.

Thanks for clarifying - it seems to be working nicely now so I'm pretty happy haha I'll get bored and have a go at rooting it eventually! After putting 504 on SEUS told me I was up to date, but all is good now
I can find one for st15i but they are different and the "i" version will not work for me. Anyone got this? I've looked everywhere. Wotan seems to be the only place to get it. Prefer rooted, unrooted is fine too. Thanks!

Hi, well after a long time of search i finally found the original firmware of my carrier... that is telcel from mexico, i really needed it for a warranty procedure, so I hope its useful to you at least for the same thing
NOTE: this is for ST27A devices, if you have the ST27i and you flash it, the i will turn in an a (meaning it will stop being the international version but the american version of the xperia go)
please hit thanks if it was useful
FTF file is HERE (depositfiles)
and HERE (Mediafire)
I bought an international version tho i need an american one, do you think maybe i can get 3g to work if i flash this ftf??
Edit: Sadly no, 3g won't work i guess it's about hardware.. i didn't really knew. too bad, all i will get with this phone is edge

I have the ST27A, but the US version. Are there any important difference between the US and Mexican firmware?
I'm trying to sell my phone used to get something else, and I've been looking for st27a firmware, haha.

well the main issue about this firmware is that it has all the stock useless things that telcel (the carrier) puts on it, so its a very shi** FW, what i could recommend you to do is to put the CE firmware and then with root explorer modify the build.prop to change the version to a st27a, but this FW is only for warranty purposes or things that are needed for telcel issues... hope at least that helps
**bump**
*bump*
Thanks! Now i can flash jelly bean and dont worry about warranty!

Hi there.
I believe this is my first post, however I have been reading the xda forums for over a year.
I'm after some advice regarding my device Xperia Neo MT15i. I upgraded to ICS but it doesn't seem to work very well on my phone, ever since then I have been trying to find working ftf files of gingerbread so i can downgrade. I have downloaded a few global versions through these forums but none seem to work in flashtool 0.9.10.1 , where the list of files should be it's just blank. With the file list being blank, is that a flashtool problem, or just broken files?
Last night I found a newly updated thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952333 with a version .42 file that actually works in flashtool, however it's a chinese version and a separate global kernel. The problem I now have is that google app store doesn't recognise my phone , or isn't communicating so I can't get any apps. There's no google store app, or google mail or anything in this version. The only way I can get to the app store is via phone or pc browser but trying to install apps does nothing, the apps I want say they are already installed or greyed out.
Basically the chinese gingerbread ftf renders my phone pretty much useless, so is there a working global ftf version of gingerbread still in existence?

Hi guys,
I have a Sony Xperia U (st25i) and the bootloader is locked
So i've gathered I can't root the phone unless i'm in ICS. This is the problem tho... I am with T-Mobile and am currently running Android 2.3.7.
My question is, in my current situation how do I upgrade to ICS (T-Mobile says I have the latest upgrade) also i'm assuming once i'm in ICS I can do some fancy stuff than compared to the Android version I'm in right now !!
Thanks for any help guys.

Hi bz786,
I was in a similar situation like you. had a Xperia U and SIM locked to a company. Instead of endless waiting for the company to release the ICS, I just did flash by myself.
Well... there would be no fancy stuff anyway.. unless you root it and install a custom ROM cuz the stock ROM or company ROM always uses up most of the tight 512M ram cap...

Thanks guys! I went ahead and used flashtool but... now I have a problem
So once ICS was installed I was ecstatic however my 3G was not working. So what I did was go to the phone settings and download the internet settings again but now the 3G is much slower than previously on Gingerbread. I think I messed something up with the baseband or installed a firmware which has the incorrect firmware settings (for me).
Does anyone know where I can download (UK, UNITED KINGDOM - This is a must I think for the 3G) Sony Xperia U ST25i T-Mobile ICS stock ROM? (Wow that's a mouthful LOL)
Thanks guys!
