What issues are you having with RSD lite? I suggested this video to someone before and I think it helped them out. The video shows you how to flash back to a stock rom via RSDlite. Hope this helps.

Anyone who has flashed the 198 build, are there any new changes besides Gtalk video chat being fixed that you have noticed?
I downloaded the 198 build from the Yay4Juggs thread but have not flashed it via RSDlite yet because I don't know what other changes have been fixed.

I have the 64bit driverz and rsd and tes phone was in rsd mode
Tried everything uninstalking...reboots...re installing ...rsd doesnt ever see my phone....done this with my laptop and pc

A couple things first to check
1) Are you sure you are using the correct drivers? 32 bit drivers for 32 bit machine for example.
2) Have you seen the youtube video that I suggested in my last post. It shows a step by step on how to flash using RSD Lite. Very useful because it is what I used to flash back to stock rom.
3) Are you sure you setting the photon in RSD mode (ex: When the phone is off, hold vol up + power button). It should say "RSD protocol support" at the top of the screen

Aside from video chat, any other fixes or enhancements?

I read from the developers forum that after updating they could not
download apps from the market.
This is because google has to give the signature of the release to the
app store to identify the version on the phone properly. Apparently they
had not done this as of yesterday. In this case many applications will
think that your phone is incompatible and would not download the app
until the signature is received. I cuold not post on the developers forum
since I am a new member and have less than 10 posts.
For your information.

I've been running this build since last saturday (9/17/11)
All the market apps work just fine (everything iv'e installed anyway)
One thing i noticed right off the bat was the Screen Grabber app now shows up in the market, didn't show up with the stock rom.
Another thing iv'e noticed after the update is battery life. I was almost ready to try to swap out my phone because the phone would get warm like it was running at 100% all the time, especially when on 3G (even with full service). The battery would drop 40% in 2 hours.
After flashing the SBF of 198 the battery issues went away. All this week i've been getting 16 - 18 hours out of the battery.
I can't speak for video chat, i know it's available in GTalk but i have not tried it.

Loaded it with no issues. Crashed and rebooted (tried this several times) when turning off 4G. I normally see the 3g logo and it was not there. Battery died overnight when dormant. Not my usual battery drain. Going back to 154.

Webtop Update
I'm not sure if it was in the earlier release but the _198 includes Firefox 6.0.2 on the ROM

Everything is A-OK with 198 for me except I have no outbound audio in Gtalk voice or video chat. This was true even after a hard-reset and re-flash. Hope they fix this before rollout.

Has anyone else tested to see if outbound audio works in Gtalk in leaked build 198?

Tried it last night, no outbound audio in gtalk. Worked decent though for video.

SC 2.92 Center of Screen stops responding

I have two Samsung Fascinates. Both were wiped clean and Odin flashed with DJ01. I followed all the steps to install SC 2.92 Voodoo. One of the phones works fine. The other phone occasionally stops responding in the middle of the screen.
I went ahead and flashed it back to stock and it doesn't seem to have this problem. I have gone from SC to Stock 2-3 times now, and after a few minutes of use it keeps doing this. Is anyone else experiencing anything similar?
Which odin package did you use to return to stock?
There are a few of us on here who have screen response issues. It's even worse when the phone is charging. No known solution. I think it's a problem that carried over from the i9000 which our current kernel is from. I was going to pull the thread for you but the search function is down.
Some work arounds:
Reboot. It will work for awhile repeat as needed
Don't root...
Try my guide, if it doesn't work still.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001064
Let me know by posting in guide.
Your guide is what I did twice. It appears that this is a known issue with only certain phones. I also noticed that the display is brighter on the fully functional super clean fascinate.
I went ahead and flashed it to stock took it to the Verizon store showed the person that it wasn't as bright at max settings, they said it looks like a manufacturer defect they will send me another phone and just to mail back the one I have.
I also have 2 FC n other one had that so b4 flashin di01 I flashed eb01 stock rom then flashed di01. Now its working flawlessly

I am one of the unlucky ones too. I don't think its kernel related. It does it on the OEM mesmerize kernel too (ec10). I think the only real solution is to wait for our OEM update and if it still does it take it in for an exchange.
Very frustrating! !

Just spoke with a VERY nice man at VZW tech support. I explained my problem (leaving out a few particulars of course). He had me boot it in safe mode and wants me to run it that way till Monday. Hmmm, yeah. . .that is not going to happen. He said he will call back at 3:00pm Monday and see if my problem went away. I plan on telling him that it made no difference. Am I being unethical?
I would suggest Gizmo Droid's fix for CWM. I flashed through ODIN and checked Repartition like he said. I followed all of his instructions and my phone no longer gives me a headache. Since doing so, I do experience lag, but I no longer need to lock and unlock my phone to make it work.
Update: Downloaded official froyo and had same screen responsiveness issues. Called Verizon and they are sending me a replacement!!
I've been having pretty good success with Imanut's 100mV voodoo kernal with cpu clocked to 800mhz. However, the screen is still unresponsive when the charger is plugged in

GPS won't work

Hey guys, I'm what you would call somewhat of a novice user. My GPS when using the actual satellites doesn't work anymore. It can only use the cell tower triangulation method which is useless for the turn by turn navigation app. It worked fine until I followed this guide to flash custom roms, unlock the bootloader etc. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=113626
After I did that, the battery life was very poor so I installed edgan's kernel from the same page. The phone, rom, battery etc worked great except the GPS. Any ideas how I can fix this? I'm on Bell Canada if that makes a difference. Any more info let me know! Thanks.
edgan's kernel ? its old ...
Try testing the GPS with softwares like: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest and https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
I recommend you unlock your bootloader, install recovery with ROM Manager, install good rom such as CM7 or Aura or DarkSide or HomaBase, install the latest radio and good kernel if you want.
Links:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 (unlocking bootloader)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 (Bell gingerbread radio)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040 (updated kernel)
Ok I have Rom manager and my bootloader is already unlocked. I'm gonna try installing that kernel you gave me there, see if that fixes the GPS issue. I don't understand what a radio does, should I install that one too? I'm honestly fine with this rom I and how it looks but I just really want the GPS fixed cause I use it a lot.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Ok the new kernel didn't help so maybe I'll try the radio. I'm not gonna bother unless someone thinks this will help because I've read elsewhere that it's a risky procedure.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Actually seems to be working now just took awhile to lock on. Thanks for the kernel!
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I suppose this is somewhat of an update. Kernel seems good, good battery life. The GPS works now but takes an eternity to lock on. Can someone suggest a fix? Would a new rom, radio etc fix that? I hate to be such a bother but I use the GPS daily for jogging and turn by turn navigation. I'm inexperienced and don't want to cause further problems so I'll wait this time before I do anything. Thanks again.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Try this guide for fixing GPS problems : https://code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/wiki/FAQ
Other than that, i think you should full wipe everything (data,cache,dalvik-from recovery), install a new rom, install new radio, install the faux123 kernel.
I did all this yesterday and my gps now works great and locks in a few seconds .
There seems to be some kind of inconsistent GPS issue with the Atrix. On my Atrix (US-ATT) sometimes, but not always the GPS will not get a "fix". This seems to only happen occasionly however. It seems to work better if the first use of the day is when the phone has cell tower service.
Perhaps there is a related GPS issue. The Atrix only registers an "accuracy" value of zero.
This has been noted in the following link:http://community.developer.motorola...o-Location-Accuracy-on-Gingerbread/td-p/17116
Ok well I've tried a new kernel, used GPS status to calibrate compass and installed a new radio and nothing has worked. I'm assuming I need a new rom then. Can anyone suggest a good rom? I saw the CyanogenMod 7 thread but it says the fingerprint scanner won't work. I use that all the time so I would prefer not to sacrifice it if there are other good roms out there. I'm hoping for some suggestions and then I'll get on that to see if it fixes my GPS issue. Thanks guys.
Search here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=997
Look at their features, read the comments and pick the one the look good to you.
If I am having trouble with my GPS I will...
turn the phone off
take out the battery
then put it back in.
Most of the time the GPS will then work.
i've never had the gps not work completely on the atrix. i've noticed that with certain roms and radios will take longer to get a signal and less reliable once locked. not sure if this will fix your gps problem but try flashing homebase its one of the best roms out there and gps works great for me, i get a signal lock in my house. it also doesnt loose any features like CM7 with webtop and fingerprint. it will install the latest kernal(faux), rom(2.3.4), and radio(1.77.30). its very easy to flash just use CWM or rom manager. theres a few versions of homebase, try the blue chronic and update using blue chronic 6.2. remember to clear cache before you flash and run the finalizer after the update.
Thank you for the recommendation. I didn't see this before I installed the alien rom and I must say I love the look. The GPS works great now too. Everything is in working order and worked fine for about 3 days and then today my battery wouldn't charge past 65%. I'm in the process of killing it to 0 and then charging it back up too see if that will fix it. Anyone else heard of this?

The battery thing happened to me yesterday on stock GB. I think Diviance mentioned that he's seen this a few times on Aura, as well as some other ROMs. I just kept using it as normal, and I think after my 3rd charge it went back to 100. (I had just re-calibrated my battery so I was too lazy to do it again.)
You can try discharging as you mentioned, but other than that I haven't seen a sure fire fix for this. It seems to pop up over and over, across different ROMs.
Oh as long as it fixes itself eventually, no worries. Thanks alot for the info!

[Q] What did OFFICIAL OTA build 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6 fix for you? Not Pre Release sbf

I started this thread to note fixes or not the OFFICIAL OTA release on or about 101211 accomplished without having to manually run the pre release/leaked sbf, This way we can rule out any problems associated with that process as the cause. I have tested the following fixes successfully and my phone is rooted:
Voicemail played on my BT headset more than once without rebooting unexpectedly.
Stay awake while charged remains checked after opening kickstand.
Calls have not dropped yet so I am encouraged.
I can't even get my damn thing to go. I supposedly started it about 5 hours ago and haven't seen a single status message since. Whenever I go back into Update Motorola Software it says I can't because an update is already in progress... Yeah it's cool they're putting out updates to fix problems but 1. It's nice not to have problems in the first place and 2. It would be cool if they would actually download.
This isn't the first update that's sat there and stared at me for hours.

The leaked SBF and the OTA SBF are exactly the same. Exactly. You can verify the hashes yourself if you like. See link below.
If you can't get the OTA to download/install correctly, just download RSD Lite and the SBF from the dev forums and flash it manually with RSD lite. That works very reliably. See below.

This OTA was a pain for me too. After 12 hours of overnight nothing, pulled the battery and 3 hours later it worked. Not saying the battery pull was needed. Something different/wrong about this one.
So far, I'm seeing faster data (3G & WiFi, no 4G in my area yet), and all around snappier response. Let alone the obvious, like VIDEO CHAT! (That's huge for me, since my daughter lives 2,000 miles away from me, and I really only get to see her on webcam).
Pew! Pew! Pew! From my Mo-Pho!
http://android-gz.com
You're missing the point...
This thread was not started because I thought there was a difference in the builds. This thread was started because there is a difference in what one must do to install the updates. Installing the Official OTA eliminates any problem one may have run into using RSDlite as the reason the build did not fix whatever they hoped it would. Not to mention the fact the pre-release thread is 80 frigging pages long, predates the 101211 release date and refers to steps one would not see/experience downloading or installing the Official OTA update.

I don't think you understand. There is no difference in terms of actual changes made to the phone between OTA and manually flashing through RSD.
The SBF contains everything on the phone, system image, radio changes, etc. Everything. You can completely wipe the phone clean and the SBF will give you back a stock working phone exactly as if you had Motorola do the OTA.
Now, if you are having trouble using RSD Lite, that's an issue with RSD Lite. Post the errors and we might be able to help.
Big fix for me was that I can now answer the phone in the car dock and play sound through the car speakers. Before, if you tried that (by hitting the speaker button), the mic wouldn't function.

So far it seems to be smoother. I meant really reminding me of the word "silky"

Sound feedback of the multi touch keyboard is fine.
Anyone else having issue like this?
The physical key haptic feedback when I press anything is still there. So I assume it is the software issue only.

There have been a lot of 3G and 4G outages in the past several days. Make sure you're not a victim of that. There are DEFINITE issues this morning. I don't have the update installed, totally stock phone - and yesterday and today I have no 4G at work. I'm on a 4th floor by a window. I normally have a great 4G connection here.
Everyone Else: There's no trick you can do at this point to get the update. It's not released officially, it's only been sent out to a few beta testers. You are either going to get it by checking for the update, or not. Eventually they'll release it to everyone soon.
I'm in the same boat as mistawolfe, the update has made things much worse for me on the data side. On my way to work today, I had NO data for more than half the time, and only 3G the other half of the time. While at home, I have always had strong 4G and that has not changed after the update. But at work yesterday after I applied the update, it was the same thing, only 3G or NO data. Same today, more than half the time I have no data, and the other half only 3G. Going back and forth between no data and data is unacceptable. 3G/4G switching is fine, but this is horrible. 1/2 the time I can't even use the data. Terrible. I would not recommend this update.

Missed that, thanks. Talk about a strange coincidence, but at least it gives me hope (Although I'm still a bit weary as it started yesterday morning for me right after the update). Anyway, will hang tight and see if things get better. Hard to believe we are having another 4G/data outage again not even 2 weeks later! Big time growing pains for Verizon

[Q] CM9 boot loop

Short and simple:
After getting past the boot loop, my radio dies and now i'm not able to get a signal.
This happened before, and caused my radio to be permenantly disabled or malfunctioning.
what gives?
any idea why I cant connect to the network?
I think what your suppose to do is flash .3.2 or something like that first, and then flash to the latest? I'm not sure, but I remember reading about that somewhere. Also if Im not mistaken .4.2.1 (I think thats it) was having problems. Again I'm not sure on this, search joker's thread.
Why wasn't that in the directions then? I was under the asumption that you just used the 0.4.3 version.
I'm patching over the 0.3.2 now, then going to apply the 0.4.3 to see if that makes a difference.
If it helps anyone, every time i try and start my cellular radio it tells me com.android.phone has stopped working.
Obvious error is obvious.
Still giving the error on 0.3.2.
Any other photo users have there radio's shut down? this is the second phone this has happened to.
Remember don't quote me on any of this I'm just going from what I think I read. Flashing on top of .3.2 wasn't needed, but I think it was a way to fix loss data. As for the force close did you try fixing permissions?
And does your data not work on any rom?

I confirmed that it's only an issue with the CM9 0.4.3
My radio worked fine on Rocko ROM and CM9 0.3.2.
I'm going to try step-by-step upgrading.
It's not what happened with my first Photon thank God.
I'll post back with results
Right now I'm at 0.4.3 and everything is working great!
All I did was go down the upgrade list, starting from 0.3.2 and ending at 0.4.3
For 0.4.2.1, I chose the as is fix, not the Xoom mediaplayer addition.
Works like a charm~
