Increase home screen icon size? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I love sense 3.0, but one thing that drives me crazy is the small icons on the home screen.
I would like them to be the same size as the ones on sense 2 roms or the new 3.5 ROM that just cane out. Anyone know how to do this? It would be greatly appreciated
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

I just use this. It allows me to use any icon in virtually any size. Great app. https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.co.bii.android.app.dskvzr

i forgot to say, i didn't want to use anything like that or better cut. That is how i have it now, but i was hoping there was another way to do it without having to use another app.
is there something in the rosie.apk that dertermines the icon size? maybe in one of the .xml files?

HTC Sense app drawer

Hey guys, I was wondering if it was possible to add more categories to the sense 3.0 app drawer.
I'm not sure if categories is the right word, but basically, when you open up the app drawer, at the really bottom there's a slider and icons for switching from all apps to frequent and to download.
Thanks!
I have to say I'm curious too, I'm sure there is a way to, since you can rearrange the "categories" when you longpress on them, and there's more space too (it looks like to add more) so Im almost certain there's a way...just haven't found it yet

Yea, that's what I figured too. They leave the space for it, but I can't figure it out!
Also, when you longpress stuff, it tells you you can drag to remove categories, but all of the stock ones aren't removable

Yea its a simple mod
But is there a way, to create any additional categories there? Like games, utilities and so on? having all the apps together without even being to organize them the way I want is very messy for me.

Hubs

Has anyone tried using HUBS for your DX2. They work great. The link below are instructions for the Xoom but they will work with the DX2.

Haven't tried it but it looks sweet. I will definitely integrate some of this into my ui

I've done it. It works pretty well but we don't have as much real estate as a tablet so I only had five screens. I have a modified version of hubs I'm using now. It takes a little while to set up but its worth it. Check the screenshot section, I have my hubs and new modified hubs posted there.

I usually keep my DX2 pretty much the same all the time. Its pretty simple. But I was thinking of doing this to my TouchPad. As of right now I only have one homescreen on my TouchPad because I cant really think of anything else to put on there that wont already fit on the one screen. lol. This would be cool.

In what way ia your version of hubs modified? Thia is something that I would like to try because I love the shots you have posted. Just curious how or what you modified or did you just use the directions in the op?

And one more question will this work with any other launchers or just the two mentioned?
I guess what I am getting at is I don't want to buy another launcher to try it out lol

Usually hubs includes tabs or text for all homescreens in order to jump directly to that homescreen. I just decided not to do that, to me it looks cleaner and less cluttered on a phone.

I don't really see the benefit of using this on a mobile phone. But it looks great on a tablet.

I use folder organizer, when you use minimalistic text to launch on tap go to the shortcuts, select folder organizer then whichever folder you want it to launch

Trying this layout on my MX2, got the screens and labels setup and now I'm working on those shortcuts. Thanks op for putting this up.
Well done! The shortcuts are easy once you set up your folders. This set up is breathtaking.

Hub It Up?
If your wondering I don't play many games so there's no games screen lol, the books screen kinda took it's place (it's my comic reader/manga viewer/aldiko etc.) also the photography screen has all my camera apps(vignette, retro camera bs like that haha) I feel the need to explain these since they seem odd
Well anyway I basically followed the video on the link you gave to the t, and this is what i came up with.
P.S looking for better wallpapers than the ones I have so if you guys know any that will fit better (both in topic & in size) let me know.
Damn feels like I just typed an essay

[Q] Trying to use Sense

I have used Go Launcher since the start with my Tbolt. I use a lot of widgets and it bogs down. I thought I would try Sense. It runs great until I leave it (run a program or put to sleep. When I hit the home key I get a green and white HTC screen and it says "loading". With Golauncher you could tell it to stay in memory. Any way to make Sense stay in memory?
Thanks in advance.
If you're rooted you could try the v6 supercharger script. It makes the launcher harder to kill and helps it stay in memory.

You could also add this to the bottom of your build.prop
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
It forces the launcher into the memory.

Doesn't go launcher have an option to lock home in memory built into the app.

I'm not rooted. Just using a stock TBolt. If I get rid of most of the widgets sense will stay in memory. It does run faster than GoLauncher (will all the widgets running). I'll just keep it minimal. So when is Verizon going to step up to the plate with the one x or s? Then I could run some widgets!

[Q] Emoji's?

Is there a way to send Emoji's with the stock messaging app? Maybe I am just totally looking over something but I don't see it anywhere. I know I can see them when other people send them to me. Well they have a "Android-like" skin to them but they are still there. In stock Android I know you can use them for 4.0 and above.
My wife did some research, could not find a way to use those on Android.

Oh you can definitely use them on Android. If you run stock Android and it's 4.0 and above, it is built into the native messaging app. If you don't have stock or 4.0 and above, you can download a messaging app like Handcent and you can use them that way. They are definitely ways to use them. I just want to know if there is a way to use them in the native messaging app in Sense

Hmmm. Here's what I would try next, just for the hell of it: remove all of your icons from your dock and from your main home screen. Change your wallpaper to something else stock. Reboot. Put one normal, everyday (like the phone dialer or people, etc) icon/shortcut - not a widget - in your dock. Reboot. Check lockscreen. See your shortcut?
HTH!
Try going to personalize under settings and go to lock screen. There should be options for different lock screen options.

What did you install before this happened? You said you are stock, but are you rooted? Delete anything? This wouldn't just disappear without either clicking that setting off, or deleting something you shouldn't have.
I know you said stock... but did you install a different launch.. ie Nova, Apex... etc. and stop/freeze sense. When i did that i lost the lockscreen apps. Kinda sucks but sense needs to be running to have those, regardless of using it or not.... Good luck

Don't disable Sense. As far as enabling it to change the dock, just go into Nova settings and use the "Default launcher" button towards the bottom. Go to Sense, "Just Once" and set your dock. Hit the Home button and click Nova, "Always". Done.
