Ok, I had to get a warranty exchange for my x10a. I reflashed to the at&t Rom from here but its not the same. In wondering how can I pull everything from the new phoneand put it on the old phone before I send it back. Basically flashing the old phone to look like the new one so they won't change me for blowing the warranty.
Thanks in advanced

Find the At&t firmware and flash to stock. What is wrong with the old phone?
Sent from my lt15i using xda premium
Look in settings>about phone and you can see which firmware the new phone is on. Then you can flash that fw or post here if you cant find it.

On the old phone, the speaker stopped working meaning I would have to either put my phone on speaker or use a headset. Not really a big issue except that im military and alot of the time I can't wear a Bluetooth and its impractical to have it on speaker.
The new phone is
2.1-update 1-fw
2.1.65-bbq'd
2.6.29 kernal
2.1.A.0.492 build
One of the major things that I notice is the at&t bootscreen on the new one and the se bootscreen on the old

This link will get you to the 1.6 At&t file for your old phone. You will have to create a FTF and flash w/ flashtool. If you want to get to 2.1 afterwards on your old phone, just update with pc companion but you don't have to do that since you are returning it.

Did you try connecting to PC Companion or SEUS after you flashed back to the AT&T Rom. Or on the stock rom isn't there somewhere in settings you can check for OTA updates.

See the flashtool guide in the stickies at the top of the page. You're looking for how to convert sin files into ftf files.

can you explain? I am very new to these kind of techie things.
Just use sony ericsson PC companions repair function. Its like having your phone new again.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
You sure that'll work? At the end of the day I get an error when SEUS/PC Companion finished the download and wanted to install.
So what I do is use the Global Generic 2.1.A.0.435 Firmware and flash it using FlashTool 0.2.6. I think that should make it official rite?

Hey guys,
Just woke up and my X10 had an update notification.
Does someone know what it is?
I'm on 2.1.B.0.1 with bb .52.
Could it be 2.3.3?
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Probably not because 2.3.3 was said to be through pb companion not OTA
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
It said I should use my computer to update...
But SE didn't post something about an update and I don't want to lose my mods.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
rest assured- no updates yet. as soon as read your post plugged my X10 to PC- companion says all's up to date. false alarm then!
Ok
When I try SEUS it will save my IMEI and save that my X10 is modded, right?
Also I've heart that SEUS will just update my bb when it's old.
Just posted the thread because it's the first update notification and thought it'd be the 2.3.3 update we're all waiting for.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
if u have a rooted and modded phone, u won't be able to get the update. the only way for u to get the original SE update to 2.3.3 will be to plug the phone in to PC once the update is out, and choose the option "repair"- it will actually whipe your whole phone (including the system partition as well) and put the newest system available in- therefore, all user data is lost.
I know, I'll just flash it to stock with FlashTool then.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
and yes, the system will be delivered with automatic update of baseband too, so no worries here.
flashtool or not- u'd have to go back to unmodified, unrooted stock- recently SE stopped the support for rooted phones (which I find kind of a stepback).
Uh, you know that you can make a backup via xrecovery right? Everything will be backup including your bb if I'm not mistaken.

i cant wait for andrid 2.3.3 to see if the removed fps

Of course, but updates can be unrootable..
After removing the custom kernel I don't get the message anymore. (I think it was caused by bb .52)

Instead of stock apps you need to use the stock rom from Sony. Try your country and operator specific ROM's from the following link.

Hit the thanks button if the answer was helpfull.
Yes but I don't want to lose all my apps and things I have on my phone... Wouldn't this require me to do a recovery install, or??

Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
I'm sorry but why do you need stock apps to update through Sony? It doesn't make sense. What are you trying to do exactly?
I want to update my phone to the latest x10 update, and in order to do that, you need all the original stock apps on your phone like timescape and others which I removed with titanium backup to free up space on m my phone. Somehow, they disappeared from my list of backed up apps, and without those you cannot update through pc companion. So it's REALLY important. I know someone had a thread posted here before with all the stock apps for download, but I can't find it anywhere... Can someone help pls?

No you don't need any stock apps to do an update.
You need to flash a generic firmware with FlashTool and do it with user data wipe unchecked.
I've never used flashtool before, and I want to stick with the regular pc companion updating. Is this possible?
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
It is possible, PC companion/SEUS would just read your phone.
Because I remember the last time I updated, I tried without reinstalling all the stock apps and it just told me there are no updates available. When I reinstalled them, it updated my phone... Thats why it's really important that I get all those apps back...

Then just flash back to stock and check again.
Anyways, I don't think the SEUS or PC companion recognises your phone by reading the apps in it, instead it should read your firmware number, baseband and kernel version.
In flashing back to stock, wouldn't I lose all my current apps though??
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
Yes, and you still don't need any stock apps to do a flash

But I don't want to lose all my apps... Are you sure I don't need the stock apps to update through pc companion? I wonder why it wouldn't update it for me last time until I reinstalled them all... I also remember someone at xda mentioning that you do need them or sony won't update it...
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
YOU DO NOT NEED STOCK APPS TO UPDATE!!!! Don't you think all of us would be having the same problem as you if that were the case?
You KNOW that even if you flash via PC Companion you will LOSE all your apps and data when you update it right?
Here are your options:
Your phone is rooted right? Download Titanium Backup from the market and backup all your apps. You will have all your apps and data saved. Now update. Once your phone is updated, re-root your phone. Download Titanium Backup again from the Market. Restore your apps and data.
An alternative method is in xrecovery. Backup your current rom in Xrecovery. Once done, update it. Once done, root, install xrecovery and advanced restore your data.
If you want to use PC Companion, without connecting your phone, press update and go through the steps manually, i.e. find your phone and so forth and then connect your phone when it asks you to. If it says you have the latest software, press REPAIR. If that doesn't work, just flash via Flashtool!!!!! If you are so hell bent on using PC companion, just repair via PC Companion after you flashed it with Flashtool.
There have been updates via PC Companion (it's up to v2.0 now) and I think it can tell if you customized your phone a la rooting or custom roms.
Ok thanks. Is using seus better than pc companion? I truthfully want to put gingerbread on my phone, but don't know which rom is best for that on xda... Can you help me? Which is most stable? And how long is the process?? Thanks, much appreciated

Instead of asking and writing here, go try it out. It's much simpler than all this back and forth in questions. It's very simple, start SEUS press accept ToU, chose your device (X10) and do a install. And yes you will lose your data when updating or re-flashing your phone.

Please guide me... What I did was I flashed my phone to 2.3.3 then I rooted my phone and then I installed WolfBreaks rom.. the battery is not working good.. so I am thinking to go back to the original gingerbread rom.. do I need to flash it using the flashtool ? Just guide me properly if possible, like how to flash using flashtool stepwise thanks
Just flash your gingerbread ftf with flashtool.

Just flash it as repair using seus or pc companion that will put you in the original GB version for your location.
Is their any thread showing how to do it? I am not much experienced with flashing

Yes, there is a thread somewhere with a detailed guide on how to use flashtool. Just search for "flashtool guide".
You can also use Pcc or SEUS if you want, and that's fine, but I suggest you learn how to use flashtool just in case something nasty happens in the future. Flashtool isn't really that complicated.

I don't think you understood me either
Not everyone has the repair option in PC Companion, so try to repair your phone first before you do anything else, and if that works, you can always use PC Companion to get it back, almost no matter what you do wrong
You don't have to go all the way, just to the bit where it wants to flash, if you get there, your can cancel it, you will be ok for when it's really needed.
Aw okay thanks my girlfriend has got this phone and I put cm7 on her old one and she loved it (it makes the phone so much faster) and she asked if I could do it with this one so I just want to know how to do everything and what to do when things go wrong before I go flashing so I don't ruin it haha I posted a thread about it maybe you could have a look and suggest something? Thanks
