Hi there,
I get my Flyer the next days and therefore I have questions ;D ... Hope you can help me ....
1. Can I make a backup BEFORE rooting etc. ? So if something goes wrong while installing ROM or rooting or S-OFF, that I can restore to default Basic ROM ?
2. Where can I get my basic HTC Flyer Sense 2.3.3 ROM ? Can I use the backup ?
3. What is the best Honeycomb ROM out there ? FlyHigh is nice but I tried with Honeycomb and I like it (maybe I change to FlyHigh later if too buggy)
4. Noob Guide =D ? I want the safest way .... Meaning, going into Bootloader -> etc. etc. etc .... hope you can help me with that
You are posting some of the same/similar questions to different places, both here, and to another thread you started: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17801480
Its counter-productive and confusing to cross-post. Are people supposed to reply here, or the other thread? I've already answered some of your questions on the other thread.

Hello guys !
Sorry for disturbing you. I'm a beginner in the gsm world and i want to know 3 things :
1) Which android 2.2 rom is the best and stable rom (a link for download please) ?
2) Can you tell me step by step how can I install this rom on my htc hero ? Is new and i just install 2,1 .
3) Htc will develop android 2,2 for htc hero ? Desire allready has android 2.2.
Thank you very much.
First of all you need to understand this :- [Guide] Complete Newbie Guide to Root & Install a Custom Rom
later for ROM I would suggest you to try one of them :-
]Android 2.2 Froyo (Fusion!ROM 2.2 Or
FroydVillain 1.5.0
& Last thing Don't post in Development section .. Hope it Helps
Moved to Q&A as not development. I would normally close such a thread as well, as there is no best ROM. It's what works best for you. Take a look at what's available, see what ROM looks like it's supported to suit you, look at known issues etc, and then give it a go. Try a few and use what suits.
If you're on 2.1 and can't get the androot method (linked above) to work, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726118
After i follow the Root&Recovery step i press the home&power button and after that a window with htc hero and a red "!" appear. What can i do to install froyo ?
Sorry for distrubing...
i get exactly the same problem only way to get out of it is to pull battery please help
Use the last link btdag posted.
first of all hello to everyone, I am new to this site.
i came across this site since i have been searching for ROM developments to my phone.
i see this is a very comprehensive site with ALOT of information and i dont even know where to begin.
So i hope someone nice here will answer a few questions
First of all, is it worth upgrading to another ROM (one of these sticky threads ROM)
I've been looking at the Artemis but again im not sure what to choose.
Also no idea how to upgrade it and if anything goes wrong is it possible to backup the original ROM?
I like to upgrade since im not very fond of the original ROM, also a bit slow from time to time.
I am not a computer noob just very new to this. Hope someone will help or point me in the right direction.
hi there.
I whole heartedly recommend flashing a custom rom to your phone. I only flashed my first rom earlier this year. there are plenty of tutorials here on xda. this really is a great community.
search in the threads for MSkip's guide to flashing your first HD2 rom. Just always remember to read instructions thoroughly.
Roms are down to personal taste but I personally like the Energy series.
good luck.
I was afraid to, but now I'm glad I did (flashed like 5 times now, till found the ROM for me) Just remember to read all the ROM info and instructions carefully and for the love of God, have the proper Radio version for the ROM OR ELSE YOU WILL BRICK IT!
I know that many of these questions are already answered but i couldn't understand how to do it so here it goes.
I know how to install custom roms/radios/mods etc on HD2 but only on WinMO.
I saw on a friends HD2 android software and i really loved it.
I have a custom rom on my hd2 (omega v14.4/radio 2.10.50.28_2) and i need your help to install ANDROID on it.
Is there a dual bootloader or a specific procedure to run android?
I have to format the phone and install only android on it or there are both on the phone?
Which is the best ROM so far for it?
Battery consumption/signal/gps etc remain functionable like in WinMO?
Thanks for your help! Waiting for your answers!
read the posts and you will find your answers, installing android is simple enough just copy over the android folder to the sd card, all this is covered in the stickies and many other posts in the android area
Thanks for the reply.
You know... it's my first time and i dont want to brick my phone
Could you point out to me a good stable rom? Are the android roms for everyday use or still in pure development?
Thanks. I managed to do it. A few things dont work though but it's very nice and fast!
I've been searching but seem nothing much i got
So what it takes to make a custom rom or such?
Trust me, i know what i'm doing...
Just simply guide me through and i will figure out the rest myself
Thanks,
johnlth93
Please use search section 1st before creating a thread. your answer might be already answered.

Hi Guys,
Just got an s3 GT-I900T moving from a HTC Desire HD.
Few questions in regards to rooting as I rooted my DHD which was rather easy.
My questions are
1. Firmware v Rom - What's the difference and do I need to flash both or..?
2. Anything you would recommend I should know that is different in the rooting process for the device?
Accessories related questions
1. I've tried finding it, but how much thicker does using the Hyperion 4200mAH make the phone, from photo's it looks to make it roughly double the size?
2. For the Hyperion 2200mAH - How more time does it bring the battery to, eg from a day to a day and a half or?
Sorry if my questions seem stupid.. they do seem a little stupid to me, but I did try searching - possibly I'm just terribly at seaching for things

1. Not sure if there is really a big difference. Firmware for me is a rom, custom roms are also roms/firmwares in a way
2. Read the Stickies in the General thread, it will help you to get behind the rooting process.
ps: I guess you meant GT-I9300T not GT-I900T

Yes I did mean that..
In regards to 1 - Cool, I was hoping they were the same, hence the stupid question part, thanks Chrismast.
2 - Good call, missed the sticky that actually mattered - Saw it as the following;

I have personally moved away from permanent custom recoveries, and I am no longer supporting them. On newer devices they cause flash counter and OTA flashing issues. If you really want one, others do provide versions of CWM and TWRP for most devices. Personally I just use Mobile ODIN to install ZIPs and Titanium Backup for my backup/restore needs. I do always want root though, and as such I'm still supporting CF-Auto-Root as quick way to root."
Originally I was going to install CWM, but yeah, what's the best way to go about this?

yes, you can use CF-Auto-Root whereas I did not use it as it was not available (?) that time, but I am sure there is a guide in that thread. Otherwise you could use CF-Root 6.4. Make sure you have the international I9300/T version though! Also a good start to read is here. For backups, once you installed CWM you will be able to do a nandroid backup. In addition backup your EFS folder and copy it to your computer, instructions here. I hope it helps!
