So, when I freshly installed cm7, stock kernel, kb5 radio my Vibrant on ATT 3G works great. Then drops to Edge and doesn't go back. Anyone else have anything like this? I don't get it...

WiFi doesn't work with any custom kernels. I tried Dragon, DoW, and Dead Horse flashed over Bionix v 1.2.1, and none of them have WiFi, even after a restart. Re-flashing any official kernel works just fine. Since I don't have data, this kinda neuters my phone. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try flashing them on a different rom. Deodexed stock is a good place to start.

Aw. In that case, the custom kernels probably aren't worth losing Bionix.
make sure your router isn't set to 5.7ghz only (if you are using an n router)

Oh, I didn't think of that! I'll give it a shot when I get home.
That didn't help. I forgot to clarify that I can connect to the AP and get an IP, but I can't actually load anything.

Wifi works great for me. It's got to be something with your wifi settings.
Bionix-v1.2
Dragon kernel v4 Test4
Androdena theme
Does your wifi work on stock? If not you might wanna look into some of those radio mods, perhaps similar to the gps antennae issue with poor contact...not sure if they share the same issue though.

Stock works fine. I'm using KB1 kernel and JL4 modem right now!

Yes, the reason I suggested trying a different rom wasn't so much to give up on bionix, but more to narrow down your issue. This is a unique isue to you, pretty much, so unfortunately you're going to have to do you own troubleshooting.
You can also try reflashing Bionix, which wil likely also fix the issue. More than likely it's something that happened since you flashed your rom that has caused the issue.
Once you reflash, boot up and wait 10 min, then flash the kernel you want. Then make sure your wifi works. If it does, proceed to add back all your apps, etc, but continually make sure your wifi is still working. That's about al I can tell you.
I tried reflashing Bionix 1.2.1 with its default kernel (KB1), and WiFi worked fine. I then later tried Dragon, and it didn't work. If I get the chance I'll try a different ROM. Any suggestions as to a good alternate?
Hm. Flashed DoW and it magically worked. That was odd. Thanks all!
Even with the new kernels, Barnacle wireless tether remains broken for me, as it has been with any MESMERIZE kernel. So back to the EB01 Voodoo kernel for me. Any idea what's causing it to not work? Anyone else having this problem? Anyway, awesome job on the kernel, JT!!!

"Wireless Tether" for root in the market is working perfectly for me. Try that.
SC 2.9.2 w/jt's new EC10 voodoo kernel
2nd that. Wireless tether has been much more consistent for me.

Are the 911 issues affecting CM7 also in the Trigger 3.2 ROM? Are there any trigger users that can confirm that 911 has worked for them?
Trigger 3.2 was froyo so no issues there.

Only the roms based off cm7 have the 911 issue

Non-CM7 ROMs are affected as well. The key is that it has to be a Samsung ROM for T-Mobile. It needs the proprietary T-Mobile code. Even a Froyo ROM not meant for T-Mobile will not have working 911 as I understand.
Trigger 3.2 is a "Complete Trigger rebuild from T-Mobile's 2.2 KB5", so that's a pretty safe bet it works. The KB5 update is the official update from T-Mobile/Samsung for Froyo 2.2. Another safe bet is Project-V by the same person also based off KB5.
Thanks - I was thinking the same thing. There's a TON of misinformation out there.

What about people that are not using T-Mobile service?

It seems to be related to the coding of the rom itself. I would think the service provider you are using would not matter as long as you are running a Vibrant rom. I haven't heard anything about i9000 ports having 911 issues but they may very well have the problem since some of the code is different.
Works fine for me
I have Trigger 3.2 on Tmobile and got ahold of 911 without a problem.
I seem to have an issue, seems like when i flash a new ics rom and a modem for ics on the note for tmobile i get a cirlcle with a strike where reception would be. I get no reception, not even edge. Ive tried all three modems/radios that they have for ics. And all give me the same issue. Also under about phone it gives me baseband unknown. And in status it gives me network unknown with several others in that same category. ROM i am currently on is Saurom and my modem for tmobile works fine on this ROM. Can someone please help. I sold my sensation which was running ICS perfectly fine on it. I dont like GB anymore. This feels like a downgrade instead of an upgrade. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: The new Blaze radio that was updated 05/28 fixed this issue. Thanks for the help!
Have you tried flashing GB radio's?
I haven't tried mainly because they are for GB and it clearly states it in the GB radios. And also because i dont want to mess up my phone.

Hey everyone,
I'm noticing a bad loss of connectivity on my Note, currently running Black Star using Blaze 4G modem (was on UVLK1 before). It seems like it keeps losing signal, the bars are there, the '4G' is there, but it won't communicate. No texting, no web, no calls (they disconnect immediately). Both modems are doing this.
The only way I am getting around it is to pull the battery + SIM, put back and reboot. That is only a temporary fix as the problem returns. I did not notice this when I first bought the phone (used), and it was running stock GB.
What is the best GB ROM out there now? I am really desperate to try anything and would like to flash a different ROM next...I would try CM9 but I heard there is no S-Pen with it since AOKP.
Thanks!
Flappjaxxx's will prolly be your answer. You want a semi, well mostly stock rom with everything working then this is it.

This is the one rom that since I've put on my phone I've never taken off in case I had a problem...I know its there and keeps me from worrying

sharky got it...
but i'd like to suggest that you try flashing the stock GB UCLA1 modem, and try it out with the ICS Rom.
I've had great success using this modem on virtually all of the ICS roms i've tried...
It can be found in the "note everything" thread, or in the first few posts of Flappjaxxx rom i believe..
It is a CWM zip file, so no odin or kies is needed.
Here it is....

Good luck, and happy flashing......g
No better GB ROM than Saurom 7.1.

If you need S-Pen then go FlapJaxxx' Samsung ICS build. Forget about GB and welcome the new smoothness.
