Whats your favorite SWYPE keyboard app? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says. I was frustated with the built in Swype so searched for others and found two of them pretty good, SlideIT keyboard and Touchpal keyboard. Well they have their own glitches but it's needless to say that they are way better than the Stock one. Creating this thread to get informed if there are any others, better than those I've mentioned, so please share your views.
Only Swype please.
Thanks in advance.

I use SlideIt Keyboard, and I like it a lot

SlideIT is good, but the capitalization is annoying when you don't want it. You can turn it off, but Swype's is more intuitive. Default state is caps, hit shift once to get out of it to lower case.
With SlideIT, you'll find that it defaults to caps in times when it is inappropriate and unwanted, such as in emails, etc.
Fix that (instead of 3,999 more skins) and I'll be happy. I use both, but the slight edge goes to Swype for usability and the fact that Swype can be customized to accept more error tolerance, where SlideIT cannot.

That's exactly the problem I am facing.
Used Touchpal too, it's great in every purpose but the keyboard in landscape too much space!
More comments are welcome guys. I am yet to find a perfect swype keyboard, so if you know one, using one please do share your feedback here.

Swype

Just started using Swype. The standard keyboard is OK, and way more responsive than my old HTC Touch HD. But man Swype is good. Can type messages and emails much faster than I normally can manage.
Just thought I'd mention it in case nobody has seen/heard of it.
Can find out more here - http://www.swype.com
Cheers

It really is the dogs cogs isn't it! I started off using SlideIT before they released Swype Beta.. didn't like swype at first.. but now I know how to use it.. I couldn't live without it!.. I was using it for ages before I realised that you can swype from the swype key to the "sym" key to bring up the direction and text editing keys...
Didn't know that about the text editing and direction keys. Cheers!

1GHz CPU, Android, capacitive screen vs 528MHz, WinMo6 and a resistive screen - no contest
Swype's pretty awesome but I personally settled on Ultra Keyboard because I was used to the half-qwerty from my Touch HD.
Ultra Keyboard combines the two as well as giving you control over the size of the keys and a whole load of other options.
Speaking of awesome and intuitive keyboards, does anyone know what happenned with Blind Type? I remember hearing something about google buying it up (i THINK i remember that, anyway) and had pressumed that maybe it would be incorporated into a future model of Android, probably 2.3. Now I'm running on 2.3 and have heard nothing of Blind Type since then, I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea?
Definitely the best keyboard i've tried so far is SwiftKey, even better and Swype (i have them both).
Another vote here for swiftkey, the predictive text (once it's trawled through your old texts and emails) is nothing short of amazing.
Although the way it can actually predict the next word after you finish the current one is a little scary/depressing. Am i really *that* predictable?
I had installed swype on my xperia arc and tried it out for sometime. I was not happy or rather felt that the original default kb was better. I uninstalled swype. There was a different keyboard then instead of the original gingerbread one. I had to then do a factory reset to get back the original kb

i never got used to swype i prefer standard Gingerbread keyboard. was upset it wasn't included with the arc, but you can find the apk here on xda
Or you can just download the Gingerbread keyboard from the market for free.
i bought swiftkey and tried it for a week but sadly it did not seem to predict very well for me.. swype is much faster for me, even if i'm just typing not swyping. i'm always hitting the wrong keys with swiftkey.
I use SlideIT now for a long time, it is personal of course, but for me its perfect.

Agree
I am on the latest beta for Swype and have to agree its pretty awesome! +1
Nice, thx!
I use ultra keyboard. Unfortunately it mixes up multitouch keystrokes (registers on key release). FlexT9 is also nice, and it does correct multitouch recognition plus excellent speech recognition (Dragon dictate)
But ultra has nicer option buttons right there in the prediction area, with inline translation, copy paste etc, and better correction after mistakes. Biggest gripe is the incomplete dictionary, no auto training/learning on email sms, bad capital recognition (problem in German mainly). Nevertheless, overall best keyboard so far that I came across.
SlideIT cannot do multitouch at all, bummer, otherwise very good as well.
My friend introduced me to the Swype but I was quite content with the existing ones. May try it later.
definitely recommend swype! ben using it since my X1i
Swyped from my LT15i-Arc
I'm looking for SWYPE for Xperia neo. Can anyone help please?

I would definitely recommend Swype to everyone. It's a no brainer! Why type when you can Swype?
And here are 7 Swype keyboard tips for better Swyping. It's definitely going to make your swyping experience better.
My only gripe with it is that I don't know how to insert a new line. All I see is a smiley button instead of the enter button.
EDIT: The smiley button is only there in the default messaging app. In other programs, it shows the enter key.

[Q] EVO 3D and Swype

Does the EVO 3D have Swype on it? I love Swype and would miss it!
indeed it does
cool cause my wife and I are getting the phone probably next week or whenever Sprint gets ours in and she can't live without swipe.
It does but it's not enabled by default. You have to long press a text field... Choose "Input Method" and select swype keyboard and then you should be good to go!

And unfortunately, the older version of swype is preinstalled, so you can't even install the newer one.
I just tried to uninstall the preinstalled version and it doesn't even look like that's an option. I really want to update it to 3.0

Read the last paragraph. Will require root, though.
The original keyboard included with the 3d also can act like swype and I actually prefer it, just enable it on the setting its called tracing

The trace option isn't working for me. Doesn't matter, I'm use Shapewriter anyway.
Whats the big difference between shape writer and swipe?
So how does race trace work?
I enabled trace just to check it out. It works okay. But I would like to compare it to Swype 3.0. I do like the number layout on Swype more though. But trace is working okay for me.

To me, there is no BIG major difference. Swype has the swype key which makes it pretty easier to change words, add words, and get instant help. It's just as easy to add words using shapewriter, just tap add after typing the word.
Swype has that annoying pop up, that covers the screen, when predicting words. Shapewriter has the predicted words layed out horizontally above the keyboard.
Swype looks better, imo, and if you like sound when you type, Swype has that as well.
Other than that, they're pretty much the same. The Swype that is on our phones can't predict words as easily as 1.60 could.
hmm im gonna try this shape writer thing.

swype 3.0 is much better, doesn't have that annoying popup in the middle of the screen, it has a bar above the keyboard... but apparently we cant just update swype when its pre-installed, which is very annoying... ran into the same problem with my wife's droid X
The recent OTA update helps here. Went from Android 2.3.3 to 2.3.4; and Swype went from whatever it was to 3.21.87.28626.28659

Swiftkey X

Anybody using the tablet version of swiftkey? if so, how do you like it?
Pretty much the same as Swiftkey X for phones, which is both good and bad. The good: the predictive text is still very good. The bad: in portrait mode, the use of the screen real estate could definitely be better. The key layout is definitely small in relation to the tab and so is not very efficient in using the lower part of the tablet in my opinion.
I'd still recommend, and the developers seem ok in putting out updates and improvements, so hopefully the implementation will continue to improve.
I use swype and smartkeyboard pro on my phone. A friend was telling me about swiftkey and I saw they have a tablet version. Right now I am using swype. If we ever get the flyer/view permenantly rooted I want to remove swype so I can try the new beta for tablets. I guess I will skip the swiftkey and stay with swype and the stock keyboard for now.
I have it for both my evo 3d and flyer.. I like it on my evo 3d coz it sizes up better. On the flyer it seems a little too small. I prefer and recommend thumb keyboard over this. Hth

I recommend smart keyboard pro for portrait typing. It has very good layout and free from bug for fast typing job. Right now, there are still many juga from swiftkey X, especially uncontrolled type "." problem even the feature has been disabled from the setting.

Hi.
I have the SwiftKey X on the Flyer, and have been disappointed. The word prediction is very good, but that is where the excitement ended. The keys are too small (for me) , and I keep hitting the space bar when I try to hit the lowest row of letters. There is no easy way to switch between two languages; the arrows can not be activated; and center numeric pad is missing in landscape mode. The "*" sign is missing from the numeric panel, so if you do a lot of number/ formula entry (in spreadsheets) it gets frustrating. I use the notes a lot, and here the keyboard does not work at all (keeps overwriting the same letter).
I think this keyboard has great potential, and people doing a lot of typing should be able to type faster than with the stock keyboard. For me however it feels half-baked, and more frustrating than fun.
I am using swiftkey on my nexus s and there it is by far the best Keyboard. I purchased it for the flyer as well and was disappointed, too. As said before, the screen could be used a lot better in Portrait. I switched back to the original Keyboard.

I'll probably be switching both my Flyer and Transformer to Swiftkey X. I have it on my EVO 3D.
I reccomend trying thumb keyboard first.

Have, it was ok but I'd rather have the arrow keys. I'm using harkers keyboard on my transformer right now.
Another vote for thumb keyboard. I have both and, while the predictive functioning of Swiftkey is better, the superior layout and ability to customize size of Thumb Keyboard makes for an easier typing experience overall.

I too, have both, and agree with what you've said.
I was not able to use Swiftkey X Tablet on my Flyer under Honeycomb in Landscape, since what I was writing was not visible (same with Swype).
This is now solved since the 2.1.0.223 version, as I just discovered. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey.tablet.trial

I know this thread is old but I wanted to share about the languages, the reason I use swift is because I don't need to switch languages. It is great at figuring out what I mean from whatever language I am using, I have it setup for spanish and english and it's seamless in that I don't need to worry about it.
This is MUCH better than having to press a button and manually switching languages.
I find Swiftkey X Tablet to be wonderful on the Flyer and you can resize the keyboard to your desires in the settings. I only wish they would put the arrow keys htat are in the phone version back into the tablet version
SwiftKey is all I'll use (til something better comes out... Lol) I can't afford to buy both versions, so I use the phone version on my tab & phone, and it works great!
I "borrowed" the Tab version from a friend, and got kinda frustrated by it entering words for me after entering a period, then hitting space twice (proper punctuation).

Stock Keyboard

Is.it. just. Me but typing on.the stock keyboard suck? The space.key is too small.so when I hit the space bar. It leaves.a period.after every word. . Also what the hell are all those arrow keys for? I've gotten used to not needing a physical keyboard but with this phone I've taken a step back.
The arrows are for navigating the cursor within a block of text. For example, you need to correct the spelling of an email address, website url, etc and you don't want to backspace the entire word. With ICS it's a lot easier to tap and drag to where you want the cursor, but the arrow keys are there as an alternative. They were helpful back when the OG EVO released; now, not so much. As for the periods, are you sure you aren't double-tapping the space bar? Double-tapping on many keyboards will add the period for you.
I love HTC keyboards. So responsive and just the right size. And actually, as I'm typing right now on xda app, I don't see the arrow keys though I know they are there.

I specifically sought out, and installed, the stock ICS keyboard to use on this handset. I hated the HTC keyboard, and none of the others I have really endeared me either. ICS's keyboard has improved on prior versions immensely.

It's crazy to me that you find the stock keyboard enjoyable. It kills me.
I recommend SwiftKey X (in the market, not free) or the SwiftKey 3 beta (register for their VIP forums for a DL link, free, but beta).
+1 for swiftkey x....i bought it earlier this year and love it....money well spent

I tried to enjoy the stock keyboard but today I gave up on it, which is sad cause I liked the stock keyboard on my 3D. I'm using SlideIT keyboard for now.
I like to use the HTC IME and Swiftkey X and my absolute favorite is Thumb Keyboard, reason being is that you can change the size of the buttons and layout so you can have a large or small spacebar or w/e

Keyboard for SGS4, is it worthy?

I love that the "swype" feature is now incorporated, because it honestly just saves me so much time. However, compared to one of the customs ones I had last year, it's - sad to say - garbage.
On the one I used before, and I believe even the swype app, there were a few differences that made it great for me. The three major drawbacks I find are (1) when I use a browser and do "swype", the words do not automatically get spaced, even though they will in a text or whatnot. (2) If I push backspace, because the wrong word has been chosen, I have to backspace letter-by-letter instead of just deleting the whole word in one go. (3) The worst is that several words that my older keyboard would guess right without issue will just not come up on this keyboard. At one point I got a word, had to delete it, re-needed that word, and it would no longer come up... On top of that, I expect certain words like "dalvik" to be picked up on.
Anyways, is it just me, or is anyone else noticing this?
I can also upload the keyboard I was using, it's was based on 4.2 and can be flashed. Very seldom will younotice anything buggy, and even if so, it is nothing that impedes on your typing or from the keyboard functioning as it should.
I'm using Swype+Dragon and I admit that this keyboard isn't that great the space button is so small and they're trying to pack everything into a small amount of space but it's not as bad either. I've been using jelly bean keyboard for quite some time and love it. I used other keyboards but nothing compares to the jelly bean keyboard just need to have more themes for it. The only reason I'm using Swype is because the keyboard theme goes with the rest of the theme for my phone.

You can try SwiftKey. I've used it on my S3 and now on my S4. It has Swype features they call "Flow" Try it out, you might like it.
I'll take a look for the SwiftKey. I did find a keyboard that has bigger buttons if anyone is interested in trying that.
