I updated my xperia neo via OTA(the update 2.3.4). I tried to install however after 5 minutes, my phone turned on and it said that : could not install.....(or something like that, i dont remember clearly)
Is there anyone has the same problem?
Sorry for my bad english
is your phone rooted ?
My guess is that you phone is rooted and you changed something in the /system/apps/ folder, so you can't update OTA. You should re-flash back at 2.3.2 and then do a OTA or update with the PC Companion software but in this way you will lose root...

No, you got the problem only if you are already with the 2.3.4, if you flash back to 2.3.2 from the 2.3.3 firmware you should have no problem.
I tried restoring some apps which i had removed and download the update again however, the problem still remains.

Use wotanserver or flashtool. Faster and with flashtool you dont lose your apps and dont need mess restoring apps.

Read the forum and you see.. when updating 2.3.2 to 2.3.4 you got problems with battery. You had right now 2.3.3 and dont mess downgrading. Use flashtool..download latest 2.3.4 ftf and flash it. I did it about 5 times for testings and no problems at all.

I alway when flash new firmaware then i wipe device and after that i havent root.
I use different method to get root back. If your bootloader is open then you can easly make root back.
Use "rootxperia.zip" via clockworkmod recovery.
So. Is you phone bootloader open or on?
Anyone can confirm that?

Its good choice. When you have working computer, then make you updates.
Always good to have a usb cable and a working PC on hand when doing any flashing/updating/rooting etc with your phone. with 2.3.4 once it's installed and if you don't have root, as long as you have an unlocked bootloader you can use rootxperia to root your phone, however the kernel for overclocking etc (doomkernel) isn't working yet with 2.3.4 so i suggest until it is 100% working to stay clear of this, also to stay clear of any downgrades to 2.3.2 when you are on the 2.3.4 firmware.

No, bin4ry says the radios are different and whatnot. You didn't read the other threads. Best to wait and let the devs take a look at the firmwares first rather than blindly flashing.
Go back to a legitimate x10a firmware and wait -- otherwise yes there is a possibility that you wont be able to upgrade through SEUS at all.
-.- well in a way this works out cause now i finally have "allow non market access" as an option. Soooo our best option is to wait for a flashtool for 2.1?

Hey, don't worry... The worse that can happen is that you lose your information... I know it sucks, but I think the only way to get it back to work again is to restore the phone's software...
If you have PC Companion installed in your computer all you have to do is turn off the phone (or remove the battery) and then run the PC companion software and clic on update/repair software... then plug your phone by pressing the back button and release the button until the led light turns green... then just follow the on-screen process... it's not that hard!
Let me know if this works out for you!
what do you do before that? and flashmod run or not because there is a siple solution if it run . flash a generic version or use seus but you loose all in your phone

Enable usb debugging in settings
Download & install flashtool here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download a generic 2.3 build here (& put it in the firmware folder): http://www.multiupload.com/JEXUAHAZTL

yeah thanks just need to register... (not pay) i use your 2.3.4 actually.. it give me ability to upgrade in .62 without loosing root... and now "bonus" PCC ask me to upgrade ICS centraleurope version... just all i need with a downgrade :d
Hi,
I have a xperia neo....with rooted stock firmware .62 and unlocked bootloader (testpoint method)...I have taken a nandroid backup of it
I just wanted to try out ics...so planning to update using PCcompanion
Before updating...i just want to know
1. whether it's possible to downgrade to gb through cwm nandroid restore? Do I need to flash the kernel for .62 after the nandroid restore ?
2. will root access be restored after the downgrade? Since .62 is cannot be rooted, I'll have to flash .42 to get root access
I don't want to start restoring all the installed apps...hence thinking of using nandroid backup against flashtool
heres a video on how to :
SIMPLEST WAY TO DOWNGRADE TO 2.3.4 factory firmware
...Hi, hope i can help you after i spent myself days looking to root or flash my device, with no luck. There is just 3 simple steps to follow and you are done. Trust me its working fine:
1. Go To: (http thing) i cant link as new user...//androidadvices.com/downgrade-sony-xperia-arc-official-gingerbread-23-firmware/2/ and download 2 files (flashtool and Xperia Arc S firmware package... works for xperia arc, arc s, pro, etc). This is the Gingerbread 2.3.4
2. Unzip, install and start (as admin) Flashtool, then COPY XPERIA ARC S FIRMWARE PACK (is a .ftf file) INTO Installed Flashtool, FIRMWARE Folder (PASTE inside), START FLASH, choose FLASHMODE, follow on screen steps.
P.S. When restart your phone in FLASHMODE: With the phone turned off, press and HOLD BACK button, while connect USB, next seconds, you'll get the GREEN Light(phone) and flashing begins.
3. ENJOY your new installed GINGERBREAD 2.3.4 Firmware
P.S. ...NO ROOT REQUIRED... ...and yes, i know there are more than 3 steps... so? still works great. GOOD LUCK
Guys, I want some help.
I just upgrade my Xperia U using Pc Companion and I got this Firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54
I tried to Root via Flashtool, via Byn4ry root files and nothing worked.
Can anyone provide me a link where I can root my sweat Phone?
Thanks in advance
To root that firmware you need to first flash B.10 kernel then Root and then again .54 kernel
Flash only Kernel of 6.1.1.B.1.10
Root with Bin4ry V13 (New version doesn't work)
Once rooted, flash only kernel from the .54

You need to flash 6.1.1.B.10 in order to root ur phone
1) flash b1.10 kernel via flashtool (dont wipe anything, exclude everthng except kernel)
2) root via flashtool or bin4ry

Whenever you manually flash a stock firmware either 2.3 or 4 u have to root it again. Don't flash the whole rom, just flash the b.10 kernel, root using bin4ry, and again flash just .54 kernel.

Ok......all done!
In case anybody else is having the same problem this is what i did.
I used bin4ry on my up to date unrooted xperia U. Android version 4.0.4 build 6.1.1.B.1.10.
I was getting errors saying "adb server out of date" but i left it to go to the end anyway.
restarted my phone but when it came to enter my password for my sim card the screen was faded. so i re-flashed the up to date android version again making my phone unrooted again!
then tried bin4ry again and this time it worked without any adb errors and restarted the phone to find that i have superuser app and all is good.
Thanks for previous posts offering help..

Good. You should always check the drivers if they are installed correctly or not.
-Connect your device to PC
-Open Flashtool.
-Goto Help, Check drivers.
-List of ADB devices must be present.
when loading the b 10 kernel into the flashtool,do i also have to put loader sin into the firmware on flashtool aswell?
Hello, can someone help me please? Last sunday I recieved a notification on my XP (update center) that I have a system update and that was a Jelly Bean update (310.1MB). And then I download it, after that when I was tryng to installed it after rebooting its say couldnt install update. What do I do? Do I need to update my phone using PCC only or I have a problem on my phone? Please help.

Right you think its useless? Or that you cant flash a custom rom with flashtool?
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
It's not useless at all, but it's useless here. For a custom Rom you need to unlock boot loader which will definitely void warranty. Be safe man.

download an official jb firmware for your phone! download flashtool! enable usb debugging and connect your phone to the pc! Then choose the file you have downloaded and flash it!
You can also use SUS (Sony Update Service)......BTW did you use pcc to install it or downloaded it OTA.....

Try SUS/PCC like a lot here are saying. Hope your Internet connection is enough. God knows I tried via official methods but ended up downloading a generic ftf and flashing it.
Let's go, xGO! To the Jelly Cave!
Stock, locked, and rooted!

Slight correction needed IMO: You need to unlock your BL only when your CUSTOM ROM needs a CUSTOM KERNEL.
He can try to repair phone with pcc or he can unlock bootloader and install STOCK or Custom Rom, who says that flashtool is only for custom roms , With unlocked boot loader he will void warranty.. yes.. a part that... he can lock the bootloader again..and I have not seen written anywhere in his topic question that he does not want to lose warranty... so mine it was just a suggestion... not an Obligation
Take care friend

anyways. My xperia P hasn't got any official update. and i am also waitng for official update rather than a manual update, I know the flashtool method is not a risky one but still you may get some problems in using jellybean. Becase the generic version and your S.I version would not be the same. my S.I = 1261-4989 ,
I have heard many bugs in jellybean, Album issue, white screen in contact and messaging, blutooth broblem, fast drain battery prob, slow charging, lagging, etc i wants to know, are these bugs are real or just a wrong imagination. Thanks
I havent seen any bugs so far for JB on xGO. And it performs quite nicely without having to edit build.prop or run init.d scripts. I'm using CE ftf.

If this time I fail again to update my phone through OTA, I have no choice but to use pcc,,, huhu,, and delete all my messages and contact.
