I just got my new car yesterday, a 2012 Hyundai Veloster, and my phone refuses to connect to the already paired system unless I actually choose to connect to it.
In my Toyota Matrix in which I installed a Clarion CZ500, I had no problems auto connecting.
Can anyone think of why this might be happening or know of a workaround? Unfortunately, Tasker doesn't have a feature to connect to a Bluetooth device.
Check out the pairing section.

I'm going to try to set it up through the voice interface, but it shouldn't make a difference.
It started working properly all of a sudden.

Having the same problem with my Atrix 4G running GB 2.3.4 and my car stereo (Pioneer MVH-8200BT).
Manual connection works fine. This used to work too, I just can't figure out what broke it (2.3 upgrade maybe). I've deleted the BT profiles from both the car stereo and the phone, didn't change anything. (and yes, the car stereo is set to Auto-Connect).
I find this extremely annoying :-/
Is BT on before the car starts? I found that that's the problem.

I'll try to reverse the order and turn the BT on after the radio is fully powered up
At the risk of highjacking an old thread:
How secure is bluetooth.
I'm looking at a bluetooth ignition system.
Function:
When a pairing is made, a relay is turned on.
When the pairing is lost, the relay is turned off.
The device gives no indication, physical or via bluetooth about the relay status.
The device is set to non-discoverable by hardware.
The password is a 20 character alpha-numeric code.
The device performs no function and stores no data, it simply operates from the pairing.
How secure would this be? or more accurately, how much time would likely be required to crack this device assuming no physical access?
Also looked into RFID, but that looks to be easy to crack unless I spend silly money on an active encryption system.

Hey all,
I have been using my Eris with a bluetooth Stereo for a quite a while, but when I rooted the phone over to a 2.1 ROM it started using Simple Secure Pairing (SSP) when authenticating the bluetooth headphones. My car stereo doesn't support this (its brand new too...).
So, the question is has anyone ever looked into disabling SSP and forcing it to use the old static key method of pairing in 2.1?
I am not adverse to diving in and doing the dev work, I just wanted to make sure someone hasn't already done it. If I do need to dive in does anyone know if its possible to disable it via a config file, or will I need to backport the bluez stack?
Thanks for all the great work,
traetox
I too am having this issue. Worked fine in 1.5 but ever since root it will play audio through pioneer head unit but phone won't connect. I will patiently await a fix.

Oh, so that's what's up.
I'm having a similar problem with my Jabra Cruiser bluetooth speakerphone/FM transmitter. What mine does, though, is it will connect and I can use it to listen to music and do the normal speakerphone functions like it normally would, but none of the media buttons will work anymore. It's not a huge inconvenience, since I mount my phone in the car anyway (long commute). It's only a problem if I need to have Google Navigation in the foreground but still want to change songs.
Patiently waiting. You devs are awesome, if you don't get enough sycophantic slobbering already.
ok, so I did some digging on mine and it turns out that I can pair with a simple bluetooth headset via the '0000' key. But the phone attempts to go through the full key negotiation to connect the "bluetooth headphones." So i can get audio via the headset negotiated connection, but it sounds awful without full AD2P.
I am getting a ROM kitchen setup and will try and map the 1.5 bluez stack onto the 2.1 source and see where that gets me.
Thanks for the input.
Thanks for working on this! I've tried to incorporate some of the Bluetooth files as well as the WLAN.ko from other roms into my Rom but have been unsuccesful. I am running damage control 2.08 that I ported. I was originally unable to get WiFi or Bluetooth to work until I copied the WLAN.ko from the oc patch now both work minus the phone. Don't know if this helps but figured i let you know. If you have those files from a 1.5 Rom I will try them in my port and let you know what the results are.

I have posted several times on this can not get an answer Have the same issues anyone with experience know what I can do?
Here is my situation I have driod eris ee2.1 on verizon before root I could auto connect bt to my pioneer avic d3 with phone audio only I had to manually connect media audio every time but I got used to it but since root I now can connect to media audio only and when I try to connect phone audio it dissconnects in less than a minute I am at a loss as to what to do thought maybe someone has experienced this and figured it out Thanks in advance.

I have a Jabra Crusier, and I'm having an issue with a lot of ROMs where I can not connect to it and stream music over bluetooth. I have found that Aloysius v6 Maps rom by Spencer Moore works well with the bluetooth thing. You may have to connect and disconnect a few times here and there to get it to connect, but it's been the best ROM for it. I used V11 Maps and it worked for a little while, but stopped connecting properly just recently.
There are a few known bugs with v6, but I'm fiddling with V11 to try and get the bluetooth to stay perm. Once I get it, I'll let Spencer Moore know and get him any new updates I come across.
Just an update. I am able to pair and connect to phone using white widow Rom.

I had a N1 previously and it used to pair with my Uconnect in my SRT without any problems. Now this Tbolt pairs and then promptly disconnects and will not re-establish the connection ever again.
Is this a different Bluetooth version then the N1? Anyone else having issues with the TBolt connecting AND maintaining a connection with any of their B.T. equipment?
Any suggestions on what I should try differently?
Have you installed any battery control apps that might be shutting off your bt?

I noticed mine won't auto connect to my kenwood unit in my car. BT-200 module. I can force it manually, but it should auto connect...my X used to w/o a problem.
The T-Bolt connects to my Jabra headset fine. I haven't installed any power mgmt apps that would be shutting off the BT.
It connects to my UConnect System in my Mopar and stays connected for 10 seconds and the disconnects itself. I can shut off the car , reboot the phone and turn on the car, turn on the phone and it will re-connect again for another 10 seconds and disconnect itself.
I have Uconnect also but no issues. Did you clear your old N1 from Uconnect? Not that that should matter but don't know what else to offer...

Yea, I deleted the N1 from there. Might be something going on with the ROM, as that is the only option I have left that I can guess at?

I can't see any option anywhere in my SGS2 to set a BT paired device as "authorized". Every time I enter in my car I've to manually select the BT device and start manually the connection.
I searched in the forum but didn't find answers.
I also tried to look at the filesystem and I found auto_pairing.conf file in which there are a lot of BT manufacturer brands listed in sections like "black list", "white list", .... Is it possible I need to manually modify this file to include my BT manufacturer in the white list section? It sounds really strange!
Is there any other way?
I'd love to know that as well.

Update
I manually modified auto_pairing.conf file adding my car BT manufacturer without any success (I added it in white list with the name already mentioned in the file, so I think that's not a problem of brand name).
My SGS2 continue to ask me to manually select the device to connect to, even if only one BT device is available (car handsfree).
I have the same problem, which i didn't have with my Nexus One running Cynogenmod ROM. I keep my Bluetooth on all the time or most of the time and i would like (like i had in nexus one) when i turn on my car (with Sony MEX-BT3700U car stereo with Bluetooth) that the phone auto-connects with the stereo in a minute or less (or with my plantronics headset when i turn it on), but no, every time i have to go into bluetooth settings and connect on the paired device and then it's connected.
I heard about few application that could help but it would be nice to have it as native function on the phone. I haven't tried these apps yet but if anyone want's to try they can be downloaded from the market, firs is free, the second is not.

I don't have this problem at all, on any ROM I've tried stock or not. Is your stereo also set up to auto-connect? And is it your phone or your stereo that's refusing the auto connection?

Stereo doesn't have any options, same as Plantronics headset (only ON or OFF), that means that with my old nexus one running CM (or Nokia n95 8GB) when the bluetooth is switched ON and i come near stereo or headset they connect automatically in about 30 seconds max, with my SGS 2 that doesn't happen, i tried everything but it wont auto-connect until i initiate the connection from phone manually.
I have to resolve this because it's killing me !

I wonder if that's the issue; IIRC it's my stereo that I've told to connect automatically rather than my phone. I'll verify on my commute home today.
Mine auto connects to my JVC car head unit, but doesn't to my Belkin Tunestage. No idea why. As it happens, this suits me but it'd be nice to be able to control it.
And the commute begins. The auto connection is an option on my JVC deck, no such option on the phone.

The stereo is recognized same as Plantronics and that is as a head set, but it doesn't want to automatically connect to either of them, every time i have to initiate the connection. There is one way to connect it (partially automatically ) but that's not the solution - i have to turn on the bluetooth on my phone before starting my car, then when phone is in searching mode if the car is started (stereo turned on) then it will connect automatically, if the search mode (that is active for a short time after turning the bluetooth) ended before i start the car (for instance if i keep my bluetooth on all the time on my phone) then it wont connect automatically.
Am i any clearer about my problem ?
I hear what you're saying but it appears that auto connection is initiated by my stereo. If I turn auto connect off on my stereo there is no connection until I tell my phone to connect. I don't see anything on the gsii settings to have the phone auto initiate the connection. I have a recent JVC deck fwiw.

I will check one more time is there any bluetooth settings on my car stereo, but i'm 90% sure that it doesn't have, because this is the first phone that doesn't connect automatically.
I have had similar issues with mine, it will pair with my Kenwood DNX520VBT but wont auto connect.
however i now have a workaround
Turn bluetooth on your GS2 first, then turn on you Radio. once my Radio boots up it initiates the connection and auto connect works.
if i turn on the bluetooth on my GS2 after my radio it never works.
ive got a sony bt3700 stereo, it connected perfectly with my samsung wave, i just upgraded to a galaxy s and i have to do it manually every time so its not the stereo.
Same thing happened to me, old nexus one with CM7 is connecting ok but i have to connect SGS2 manually or make sure that my bluetooth is ON on my phone before i start the car.
I may have the answer......
Hi,
I have a sort of work around.
My Pioneer head unit refuses to auto connect to my SGS2 and I have to do it manually (I connect from the radio in 4 clicks but thats not the point). This was driving me nuts as previous handsets I owned connected within 5 seconds of being in the car.
I then discovered ROMS and went for the Criskelo ROM and it put me on Android Version 2.3.6 (Not sure if that made a difference or its actually the ROM).
Now with that sorted I found that I have an extra function in my bluetooth settings. When I make the device visible I can then choose the visible time-out length. If I set this to NEVER then I have no problems connecting to the headunit everytime I get in my car.
The only problem I have with this is that I pop my phone into Airplane Mode each night and because that disables the bluetooth it loses the time-out setting so I have to put the time-out back to never each morning.
With setting the time-out to never I'm not sure what battery drain is like because I'm constantly on my phone and my battery depletes rapidly anyway but it seems like a fix for now.
I hope this makes sense and helps people out until a proper fix becomes available.
Cheers,
DJ Sploits
Hi All,
Sorry for bumping an old-ish thread, but it seemed the most appropriate thread, and better than creating a new one of the same topic!
This is what I believe to be true:
*IF* Bluetooth is enabled on the GS2 (and the phone has previously been paired with the car headunit) then when the car is turned on, it will auto-connect to the GS2
*IF* Bluetooth is NOT enabled on the GS2 (and the phone has previously been paired with the car headunit) then when the car is turned on, it will NOT connect to the GS2 (understandably!).
*IF* the phone has previously been paired with the car headunit, and the bluetooth on the GS2 is enabled *AFTER* the car has been started, it does NOT Auto-Connect.
From this, I assume that when the car is powered on, it searches for previously paired handsets in order of most recently connected first. If it finds one, then it WILL connect.
Now:
If I leave Bluetooth enabled on my phone, the battery is significantly depleted my mid-afternoon.
I've started using an app which uses the "rough location" (not GPS) to monitor where the phone is located. If it deemed to have moved in X period of time, then it enables bluetooth.
This is great, and works a charm ... BUT it does mean that bluetooth stack on the GS2 is enabled AFTER the car has been moving for a period of time, and thus does NOT auto-connect.
What I've been searching for is:
"When BT stack is enabled on GS2, can it look for previously paired devices and initiate the connection itself?" (Rather than the car connecting to it?) Is there a script or app to do this?
Hi WTFH,
I think it might be more headunit specific. I always have my bluetooth on but it wont connect automatically to my headunit unless I have it set to constantly discoverable (on the handset).
I also use a power saving program called Green Power Premium which will cut bluetooth/data/wifi after a certain amount of time when the phone is in a sleep state. Its great fro saving power as my phone isnt constantly looking for a wifi signal (I don';t use it to control my bluetooth though as I need it on for my car).
Hey DJ_sploits,
Thanks for that ... Yes, I understand that some headsets do not auto-connect to the GS2 if the phone is NOT visible.
But what does seem to be constant is that the GS2 will not auto-connect to any of the headsets if the bluetooth stack on the GS2 is enabled AFTER the headset has come online and available.
One workaround I'm thinking of is:
Enabling a profile which says "When connected to a power source (I'll have to use the power adaptor) then enable bluetooth". Connecting my phone to the power first before starting the car should enable the BT stack before the headset tries to connect.
In fact I could extend this to say "Only enable bluetooth when using power adaptor, and not connected to wifi".
It's still a pain to do this though, as I tend to just jump into the car and don't want to faff about with connecting this and that.
The only other work around I use is to set the visiblity to constant (depending on what android software version you are on). My headunit always picks the phone up if I have it setup like this. the only thing with that is it will eat the battery even more (which is annoying considering there are other phones out there that constantly have their bluetooth on and you never see the battery getting hammered).
The only flaw I can see in your method is the fact you need a power source to knock on the bluetooth. Great for powersaving but it would then mean you would have to remember to connect it to a car charger everytime you got in the car (not too bad if you have it constantly plugged in to the cigarette lighter) and as you set this can be a bit of a faff.
The only way I can see in sorting this is using a power saving app but having your visibilty constantly on for the bluetooth and then we just hope it doesnt eat the battery too much (not to bad for me as I have a charger at work but could be a pain for others). The only problem with this (apart from the battery issue) is that if you knock the bluetooth off or knock the phone to airplane mode (as I do at nights) then when you knock the bluetooth back on it forgets that you want it to be constantly visible so you have to go through the settings and check the box
I'm guessing the answer to my question is likely to setup a Tasker profile, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Does anyone know of a way to get Bluetooth on my OG to autoconnect to a device it's already paired to?
For example, when I get in my car and want to connect to my stereo, I turn on Bluetooth, then have to go to my paired devices and manually connect to the stereo. I'd much rather just turn on Bluetooth and have the phone autoconnect to the stereo.
I'll likely soon set up an NFC tag for my car, so I should be able to turn on Bluetooth and connect to the stereo with that, but wanted to know if there was another solution in the meantime.
Any ideas?

As long as I turn on Bluetooth before I start my car, mine auto-connects to my Hyundai Sonata just fine...

My phone auto connects to my car too. Even if I forget to turn it on before I start my car and toggle it on after the car has already started, they will find each other and auto connect. They do not connect instantly though (maybe the BT scan interval is a little bit longer). Maybe you just have to wait a bit?
I have Llama installed and have a profile setup so that when it disconnects from a known Wifi (leave home/work/etc.), the phone will turn on BT automatically and try to connect to the car. Another profile is set up so that once the BT does connect to the car, it will turn off Wifi on the phone and also turn up volume and vibrate "on".
Hmmm, thanks for the replies. I'm wondering if my issue is that I've only turned Bluetooth on after the car was running, not before. If anything, I'll just set up a Llama or Tasker profile. Thanks again!

Just a heads up to anyone interested. Tasker doesn't have an action to autoconnect to paired Bluetooth devices. However, there is an app available in the Play Store solely for this functionality:

This app is also a Tasker plugin, so you can use it in conjunction with any Tasker profile. Good stuff.

Yea, already gave that a shot. Tried just the app, then tried a tasker profile that would try to connect to the A2DP device if the handsfree device was connected too. Neither worked. Gonna try another couple apps to see where it gets me; if not I'll just live with having to always click it in the settings menu until an AOSP rom comes along that I would be willing to run (not quite annoyed enough at the LG software to give up an SD card/8gigs and hardware keys)

Try this app. Have been using it for a long time now. I have the same problem as you. You can set it up to automatically connect to a second device ( your music adapter), right after it connects to the first one ( your car). There are also more useful settings there.

i had similar issues with bluetooth and linking to my car. at first it worked fine, but if i would change input on car stereo and come back, to the bluetooth, the mb bluetooth would auto start google play music. the solution for me was to remove all device from bluetooth option from phone and car and it worked perfectly.
That sounds worrying cos I ordered the SBH52
Hope they fixed this. Haven't tested my blue tooth yet cos I don't have a BT device.

The thing is, I only paired one bluetooth device to the phone. As mentioned above, I unpaired, restart and re-pair the Smartwatch again and the issue persist.
I find it weird because it worked fine when I first paired the Smartwatch with the phone. The problem only occurred recently
I've had nothing but trouble using SBH50 (same with both firmwares 1.0.A.4.0 and 1.1.A.0.7) with Z Ultra (14.1.B.0.475). First time connection (NFC) went smoothly. Followed by lots of trouble within minutes. Frequent lost connections (even when they were just a few inches apart) followed by requests for pairing. Random loss of media or phone audio without any warning sign.
Connection was stable only after uninstalling the SBH50 android application (and all the smart extras), disabling Sony Smart Connector and execution of manual pairing. No more event reminders, but at least it is now usable for music and phone calls. Hopefully Sony will update firmware/software to address the connectivity problems.

hi guys, ive been looking for a fix to my bluetooth. i just bought SW2 but i still unable to use it because apparently the bluetooth on my phone could not detect the watch. I have tried reset, fixing it via companion apps in windows but problems still persist. i have tried using my galaxy with SW2 and no problem there. basically it was my bluetooth inside the ZU that are causing all the problems. Im on the latest build .257 and are not rooted. Bootloader is locked and everything else is stock. When i tried to connect via the 1-touch NFC there's dialogue showing up on my phone that the watch is connected but nothing happen afterwards. the SW2 is still in its pairing mode and there are no instruction to ask me for download or anything as shown by Sony in their youtube channel. Im growing frustrated with this phone. Having to live without root and now wasted $200 on a watcg that i cant even use. argghhhhhhhh....any help is much appreciated guys!
I have the same problem with the Sony SmartWatch 2 when I talk in my BT headset the phone keeps losing connection with my watch.
edit: system restore did the trick
