I live Denmark and when I bought my Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1. The reseller told me that the european version takes regular sizes simcard and only the US version of tab 10.1 use micro-sim.
But I don't seem able to make my regular-sized sim fit in the simcard read in the device.
Is it because I need also need a micro simcard?
All galaxy tab has the micro sim card. Mine bought in us have micro sim, and italian ones have the same.
Mine uses regular size simcard. GT-P5700.
The card has to come quite some way down in the slot before it locks
You have to use something to push it down, like a pencil.
Look on picture on the cover so you put the card the right way.
Or do you mean that the card doesn't fit at all in the slot?

Guys with Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G version, please confirm if it needs normal SIM card used in phones or the smaller micro SIM ones used in iPad.
In this video review, the guy says it is micro SIM
I personally own a 10.1 3G since Jul7th, day of official release in Italy -first country in Europe- and i can confirm it has a normal SIM slot.
HTH
Edit: just reviewed the video, the guy is simply wrong. I've got exactly the same slot he's showing to camera and it's NOT a micro-sim.
Thank you very much for the confirmation
He also referred to it as a "micro SIM memory expansion slot"... Funny.
Just bought this phone new from AT&T (no commitment pricing), and it should be here within the next few days. I'm wondering if the phone out of the box includes a compatible SIM card? I'm coming from an iPhone 4, so I can't just stick my micro SIM card in if it doesn't. Even if I get a micro SIM to SIM adapter, would I be able to access the appropriate HSPA+ network with that? Much thanks if you can point me in the right direction.
Once you get the phone go to att and ask to get a new one for the phone they won't charge you anything

Yes, AT&T always sends out a new SIM card with new phones. You can also ask for one at local AT&T store for free.

Oh, good to hear. I wonder why the sell one then (whoops, can't post links to AT&T's site yet) or why others have to buy adapters?
I came from iphone also, and was bummed to learn micro sim doesn't work in the s2. The phone will ship with a new regular sized sim inside. so if you dont need to use your iphone 4 anymore, or dont want to, call 611 from your iphone before you do anything with the s2 and it will walk you through getting the new sim activated.
I ordered a micro sim adapter and it works great. Kind of annoying that you can't get the adapter free from ATT. The micro sim works fine on hspa+ also. so if you want to swap back and forth you can, just know that ATT wont help you with this.

Oh, right. People like to switch back and forth between phones, but I thought the data services weren't compatible?
I drop my micro sim into my s2 and I get H+ up top and data speeds and call quality are the same... I could be wrong tho...
in my case I need to be able to use the iphone 4 on network for development.
H+ is defaulted because hspa+ uses the same towers as 3g and by assumption, most, if not all, 3g towers have been upgraded.
Call qualities aren't suppose to be any different.

Because sims aren't 'free'. They are given free as a courtesy under certain circumstances--eg new acts/upgs/swapping devices/defective sim..

I have a SGS1 with a normal sim card, does the sgs3 have a micro sim card, if so, will my carrier provide one? Is this usual?
Sent using TCP/IP
your normal sim from your sgs1 wont work inside your sgs3 (lol unless you cut it down, which you could totally do). but the sgs3 microsim is smaller, your carrier will defiantly give you one, iphone, htc one x, and some others use this as well.
Thanks, just spoke to 3, they are sending me a micro sim card within 48 hours, whahoo

Okay I got this i717 and could not figure out what's wrong with the sim card slot. I've never posted on a forum before but I'm stuck.
Things I've tried
-went back to gingerbread from ics
- bought a new sim card slot board and put it in and still the same problem(insert sim)
- cleared cache from clockwork and titanium
- flashed different radios and modems
- tried different ROMs
I know longer know what to try, I also would like to note that it has an imei and baseband so its nothing to do with efs. It just won't read sim cards and I know its not the hardware because the micro sim words and its on the same board. Please help me out. I'm using an old slide phone now.

I know you say its not the hardware, but that's sure what it sounds like.
When you say micro sim, have you tried a regular sim in the slot?
I made a typo' "micro sim" was suppose to be "micro SD card", and I know it sounds like the hardware but I was so sure that when I replaced the sim and micro SD board it would work because everything on the phone works fine except for the sim, I've read around and the only solution I'm seeing is to send it in but that's not an option for me. And yea I just have a normal sim card from at&t that supports hspa

The only thing you can try short of replacing the motherboard is to take your work apart and double-clean the contacts between the motherboard and sim/SD cards board.
Did it ever read sim cards or did you buy it this way? Did you use Odin to reinstall the factory Gingerbread ROM?
I'll try what rangercaptain said but yes it did read my sim card when I bought it and then every now and then would randomly say insert sim and normally a reboot would fix it but it finally just cut out completely and that's when I bought the new board but it still said the same thing

i received an S3 from a friend and its currently under Tracfone. i have a service plan with Wal-mart's Family Mobile ( i know, i know.. its all i can afford right now.) he assured me i could activate this phone for my service plan, as Family Mobile does support the S3. however, i told him i'm not sure because it doesnt have a slot for a simcard. am i wrong? or is there some crazy way to get this phone working that i cannot see?
any help would be greatly appreciated!!
You say S3 , you say wal mart .
So usual question what phone do you have this is I9300/ I9305 forum .

The simcarc slot is inside the back cover above the battery the s3 uses a micro sim, and is spring loaded. You can remove the back cover by pulling from the the indent at top of the phone.
