Need help unrooting my Aria - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Aria is currently S-Off with CM7 installed onto it.
I figured running the RUU for 2.2 would just return it to the stock ROM (without changing the HBOOT/putting S-On of course).
However... the RUU just does not follow through with anything. It holds on "Verifying the information on your PDA Phone.. Please wait..." or something like that. Then it tells me that the ROM update utility cannot connect to the phone.
Normally, I would not care. However, I am giving this phone to my brother, and he WANTS the phone on stock.
Any help?
Tried:
Fastboot USB
HBOOT USB
while the phone is on
while the phone is off (lol)
Debugging off
Debugging on

You could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715 along with the Hong Kong kernel. It will feel and be sort of like stock.

Thanks for the tip
Just found out I need the phone to be on an HTC ROM before it recognizes it.
Mod can close this now!

Do as the Images(wipe+format),then use RUU to updata.

[q] update for rooted evo3d on boost

I basically have no idea on how to update my phone to the new icecream sandwich, can someone help me? I have very little experience on all this rooting and stuff but I learn very fast (I did my own flash and rooting) so I might need to be baby talk with instructions lol. I have s-on hboot1.5 and "Revolutionary CWM" when I click on recovery (I dont know if that helps) if you need more info let me know. thanks for all your help.
I'd be glad to help. But first let's clear up a couple things. You are on boost Mobile correct? The thing is since your on boost I don't believe its possible to obtain a ota update through their network because your phone was originally on sprint and the ICS ota ran through their network and I don't believe boost has that ota through their network. The second thing is that cwm recovery has so many issues with the evo 3d so having 4ext recovery is highly recommended. Now with that said, you will more than likely will have to flash a ruu or the firmware to get your phone on ICS. Either way, you will have to reflash boost back onto your phone once you upgraded your phone to ICS. Here is a step by step guide on how to do that.
Since your S-on I would flash the ruu. Heres what you do.
Make sure your bootloader is locked or relocked
If not make sure is USB debugging is enabled on your phone.
Hook your phone up to your pc in fastboot mode.
Run cmd and navigate to your fastboot folder
Type fastboot oem lock
That should put your bootloader relocked.
Download the ruu file for sprint ICS
Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30691080
Put the file anywhere on your computer
Run the file with your phone hooked up to your PC
Once it finishes updating you will be on ics stock
Now I highly recommended gaining s-off before you attempt to flash boost back onto your phone.
Here's a guide that will help you with that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
Once you gain s-off you should be good to go.
thanks for the info!
No problem

Cannot re-load stock OS, please help!

Ok, I will try to give as much info as I can, please let me know if there is anything else I should provide. I really appreciate any help and advice as I've been pulling my hair out for the last 3 days, spending 10+ hours trying to get my Amaze back working.
Problem started a few days ago, phone shut off, when it powered back on it was stuck on the White HTC logo. That same day the phone died completely and would not power on at all, not even the amber light. Eventually the amber light would blink the but phone wouldn't charge. I fixed this first issue by jump starting the battery with a 9V battery, something someone suggested on a thread. Worked great to get the phone charging again... but that's it. So basically I have access to the HBOOT/Fastboot and EXT4 Recovery menu's, and there is no OS on the phone, I know for sure now because I wiped the system.
When I try (but fail) to install the RUU 1.41 exe, and it checks the phone, i comes back saying my "current" version on the phone is 2.14.661.2 even though there isn't any OS on there...
Bit more background info. I purchased this phone last year off someone, it was running 4.1.2 and the bootloader was unlocked. It *is S-ON though.
Whatever else this guy did, I'm not sure as this is what I can tell, however the CID pulls up as Telus001? which the guy did tell me it was a Telus phone.
So I'm trying to load the Telus stock rom and I've been getting nowhere and pulling my hair out. I'm 10hrs in and no further then I was. So first I downloaded the Telus RUU 1.41 exe from the stock rom but it gives an Error 43. I tried this with both the bootloader locked again, and unlocked. I then downloaded the OTA 2.14.661 zip from the stock roms, and renamed it to PH85IMG, stuck that on the Ext SD card. Problem is when it boots into the HBOOT it actually see's the file, loads it, then checks it, but then returns me to the main menu. I don't get promted to update. Now I've tried this too with the bootloader unlocked, and locked. So a third go, I extracted the Rom from the 1.41 RUU and made that PH85IMG, tossed it onto the SD card and again this time it actually went further but gave another error.
I have tried to Sideload the above Roms through recovery but they give error's.
In that All In One program there is an option to fix the Mainver error, however when I run that all I get is "Device not found". The phone IS loaded under device manager as HTC Phone as I had installed the drivers. I've tried to google this fix but I can't get anywhere.
Everyone has said on forums that sticking a PH85IMG.zip file on an Ex SD and having it boot into the HBOOT menu will rebuild the phone, but I'm out of idea's how to get there because it loads the rom's, checks them, and then boots me back to the menu. There is only 2 Rom's I can find for Telus, and that's the 1.41 EXE or the OTA 2.14.661.2. My HBOOT version is 1.93.0002, RUBY PVT SHIP S-ON RL.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions, desperately just want my phone working again. I feel like I've been to the 4 corner's of google trying to solve this problem.
Strange This should not happen. Also if your phone is running 4.1.2 which should be a custom then that means your phone was updated to ics so the ruu.exe will fail.if you have access to 4ext recovery then you can flash any custom rom to boot your phone. But if you want stock and both of the stock roms for your carrier is not working then the only thing you can do is s-off the phone then use supercid so you can flash any carrier's rom then flash t-mobile ics stock.Tell me if this worked for you.

Got it going!! Thanks for the suggestions. What did it in the end was this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110
I had EXT4 Recovery already, so I used his Zip and just flashed that. Phone came back up and is running great now... if only I had found his thread before the hr's and hr's I've been googling and trying things.

[Q] (URGENT)PLEASE HELP I dun goofed with my Aria.

So yesterday I had my Aria in my pocket and I guess the power button got nudged and the screen turned on, lo and behold I pull my phone out of my pocket to find the lovely words written on the screen that too many pattern attempts have been attempted and that the device is locked. Only problem is I use this phone for everything but the phone function, I don't even have a sim in there. So with WiFi off, and no mobile network I was stuck for a bit. But then I finally sat down with it and luckily I had kept USB debugging on so I used adb to hack it. And that is where my urgent problem starts. After finally unlocking it I decided to might as well upgrade it, it was running 2.0.2 I believe Liberated ROM with CWM. So I started browsing around because I haven't really worked with this phone before all that much, I ended up reflashing to stock rom and then was going to use a nifty tool to get my hboot to 1.02, well it worked, the nifty tool flashed my hboot alright, along with my ROM and everything else there was. I am now stuck with a brick, the phone goes to the boot logo and then reboots... over and over and over until I pull the battery. I was charging the phone the whole time while working on it and after the tool was done flashing the hboot I unplugged the phone and a long list of errors ran down the screen of files that the OS was missing. I can get into fastboot, haven't had luck with any reflashs, adb is dud (while in recovery computer recognizes the adb connection but adb only lists the device as inactive. Ever since I lost my Inspire 4G this was my only working mobile device. If you have any tips tricks or clues as to how or if it is possible to come back from this destruction I am all ears.
Thank you in advance :fingers-crossed:
To clarify a bit further, the part that screwed me was the Upgrade HTC Gratia HBOOT for AlpharevX S-OFF tool. It was chugging along just fine up until the very end. The original sites listed for making a gold card are all dead but I managed to find a working one. Now I am trying to figure out what went wrong and why.

First you should S-OFF your phone with revolutionary. Then you need to flash a working recovery image and reflash ROM from there. Should work. If this still doesn't work, flash a modified hboot from the Development forum and see if you have any luck with that...

I cannot get revolutionary to find the device, the system version is 2.37.709.11 and I cannot do anything, if I try flashing anything the sig verification always fails.
(EDIT: Well I got lucky, found an asian RUU with same version, reflashed phone, S-Off, flashed unofficial CWM recovery and unofficial cyanogen 11.)
The problem I was having with revolutionary not recognizing the device was because my hboot version was too old (0.57). I used this AT&T Update package to get back to stock 2.2 and revolutionary worked straight away.

What does your heart really want? Do you want to run custom ROMs and have root or not? It mostly sounds like you may want to return to stock due to lack of understanding and knowledge. That's okay if you want to do that. But kinda against the spirit of XDA!
Relock the bootloader and RUU will return the phone to stock and unrooted.
But it just sounds like you have mismatched firmware (results in long boot times with no boot animation, which some folks mistake for it not being booted).
Also, the newest TWRP require updated hboot, so that is probably the problem there.
If you want the phone rooted, and running a custom ROM: either run a ROM that corresponds with your firmware, or s-off and update your firmware.
What hboot and radio numbers? S-on or S-off?

Holy run-on sentence! Seriously, please take the time to type a proper response with punctuation. Making it easier to read, makes it easier for me to help you. And that is what you want, isn't it???
I don't use my personal email for this type of support. That is what these forums are for.
Skydragon is probably not "stuck" but rather taking an extremely long time to boot (10+ minutes) with no boot animation, which often leads folks to believe its stuck altogether. If you leave it alone, it will probably boot eventually, but you may also find that WiFi is broken. Both are symptoms of the wrong firmware for the ROM you flashed.
Your hboot number also indicates that you don't have the right firmware installed, as firmware includes hboot as well as radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and other modules.
On the AT&T variant, you will not have any "official" way to update the firmware to anything more up-to-date than 2.x firmware (hboot 3.17). You need 4.x firmware (hboot 3.19) to run the ROM you mentioned. Therefore you need s-off by sunshine (if not s-off already).
You can check s-on or s-off by booting into bootloader, and you will see it says one of the other near the top of the screen.
Alternately, if you don't s-off, you can flash a ROM that corresponds to your firmware. Try the following ROM, but putting the ROM zip on a removable SD card using a card reader connected to your computer (if you have those available). Then boot into recovery, navigate to the file and flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705640
Aside from that, you should really get your USB connectivity issue sorted out. You can't do much without it. Verify no response when you type fastboot devices when the phone is in fastboot mode. If it doesn't respond (should return device ID) then try a different USB cable, and different USB port. If on Windows, try going to Device Manager, finding the phone, and pick the option to manually select the drivers, than pick the USB MTP drivers (not the HTC ones). This will often fix adb/fastboot connectivity issues.

I accidentaly wipe /system and brick my phone, how can I flash a ROM from TWRP?

The cell is not rebooting into the system, it stays on the HTC logo until the battery runs out.
I can boot into TWRP with no problem. :good:
I think all system got wiped. :crying:
I downloaded from HTC the: RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.1540.4.exe
But it is not working because it can't connect, I supposed it needs the system to work.
How can I unbrick my cell? I have never flashed a ROM before from TWRP, so I don't know exactly what is the file I need to download or the commands. The good news is that I do devOps so I'm used to the shell.
Can someone give me some guidance? :fingers-crossed:
Thanks!
That isn't the right RUU for the AT&T version. You would need to have the US Developer's Edition, or else have s-off and change to the Dev Ed CID or SuperCID, to use the "Brightstar" RUU. If you have the AT&T version, and still on the ATT CID, you need to use an AT&T RUU. I have them listed here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
You don't need a working system/OS to use RUU. But you will need to be in bootloader-fastboot mode (in recovery won't work), and relocked bootloader to RUU (unless s-off, in which case unlocked bootloader is okay). IF you meet all the requirements, and still having USB connection issues, you should try to re-install HTC Sync and HTC Drivers, try another USB cable, and try another USB port on the PC.
If you choose to flash a ROM in TWRP, all you need to do is get a ROM from one of the development threads:https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/orig-development
Then you can copy the ROM to the phone's storage using TWRP (to browse the storage); or alternately put the ROM on SD card, using a USB card reader. Then go to "Install" in TWRP and flash the ROM. This also assumes you phone is on relatively recent firmware (Lollipop or Marshmallow is okay for the current ROMs).
Thanks!
For some reason my device is S-On but it is rooted and I have installed TWRP
Please watch this image, it is a picture of the radios, data and all that. thanks!
http://prntscr.com/f11z85
I'm currently downloading the official RUU 4.28.502.1 (Android 5.0.2) from the list you sent me. thanks
By the way, I remember I paid for SunShine to s-off my device some time ago. For some reason, I did S-on again. I'm an idiot right!
I download today SunShine but it is an APK, how don't know how to install it with no system. am I screwed?
From the radio number on your screenshot, I believe it's on AT&T firmware (radio numbers for this phone starting "4.0...." are unique to AT&T). So therefore, the AT&T RUU should work.
But if you want me to determine more definitely, do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number before posting).
You can't use sunshine with no OS. I agree that making the phone s-on was a mistake, as it serves little purpose unless you were returning the phone to HTC for warranty. But s-off is not needed to recover the phone. Simply using the proper RUU should work.
Once the phone is running properly again (can boot into OS) you can use the sunshine app, and should be able to s-off for no extra $, if you like.
