Download an app in the market called Titanium Backup....there is a PRO version which is the best..but the free one will do for now..you can use that to uninstall/delete certain apps that you dont want (ie bloat)....
yuo may also find this sticky thread useful

Find the "Delete the Bloat" section...and be careful of what you delete/uninstall..
Hey guys just got the x10 a FW- 2.1-update1 baseband 2.1.55
can this be rooted?
if so what is the best way to do so which tutorial would be easiest for a noob? ( while doing research about rooting found three different tutorials on rooting which confused me even more one was one click, the one here and one from xperiax10.net)
i just want to take off some unwanted apps like moxier stuff and time scape
by doing this will it preform better?
or would i need JIT?
sorry for so many questions just want to be sure
Find superoneclick on devs thread. Removing unwanted apps you need titanium back up, found at the market.
Im sorry i cant give you the link cause im on mobile.

You can root via flashtool/superoneclick. Download the flashtool from xda link and once you run the program click root. It should install superuser, thus allowing you to download titanium backup from the market which allows you to take off unwanted apps.
that's all i need?
someone said something about android drivers and to back up data?
Heres superoneclick if you havent found it already...
I downloaded the flashtool and the folder for 2.1,which is on my pc desktop. How do I combine the two folders? Haven't extracted flashtool yet.
And how do I keep all the apps I have, even the pre- installed apps, then go back and delete the ones I don't want?
Have Titanium backup download in the mobile. Also purchased SD micro sd 8GB card. Can I back apps onto sd card?
All help and advice is appreciated,I am a novice at this,so I DO NOT want to brick my mobile, paid too much for it! !
Thank-you.

Go here for a guide...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Although you want to keep your preinstalled apps, if you flash to the generic 2.1 you are basically debranding your phone and all the preinstalled apps will be removed. You could try "my backup root" but im not too sure if it will work. Plus it's nearly impossible to brick your phone..just make sure you follow the guide.
Flashing Xperia
Wow;
This is so cool!! Thank you ever so much for the link and the advice. Another question;do you think I can redownload some of the at&t apps?
There's only a select few you can probably get back from the market for free. But most of the AT&Ts apps can easily be replaceable with other free and probably better apps from the market.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746- probably more help for flashtool
I agree, but I like there navigation, and have a subscription. But thank-you for the info.

Now,I gave a trial run,And think the flash MIGHT be successful. Now,I have Titanium, will this backup my current apps,or do I have to re-download them? And what about my browser bookmarks? Am I able to keep the oned I have now? Oh And I have a brand-new SanDisk 8GB micro sd card, should I put that into the mobile?
Any and all suggestions are helpful, and thank-you once again for the advice and help!!

Did all the downloads, are followed the instructions to the tee about combining the generic firmware into the firmware file,or something of that nature. A little nervous about flashing, but I'm going to do it. After flashing, should I use SEPC Companion to update OS to update OS?

If i understand u, if u flash with flashtool, u want to flash over with pc comanion? If thats the case, u dont need to because u already picked the firmware with the baseband u wanted. So once u used flashtool u r done.
I saw u got titanium backup. U know your phone must be rooted right to use it? U can use flashtool to root too after u flashed the 2.1 update

It looks like you're on the right path, but here's a step by step guide that will answer all your questions especially for AT&T X10a.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012380
You can't use Titanium Backup until after you have rooted. Instead use Mybackup, free in the Market.
Yes,I believe so. And yes,I know I can root AND have SUPERONECLICK up and running. Boy,I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!! Guess I am becoming tech savvy after all.
If you can, give me reasons WHY I should root. Once you reply, will give it a go.
And really, thank-you so much for your help and guidance, couldn't have done it without it

Wow!! Goosebumps!! Thanks for the link,a fantastic thread. Will take both of your advice:download mybackup, put it fresh,brand-new 8GB micro sd,and backup apps. If you think it is also advisable to root, will do that also. For the ROM,what do YOU advise? That is what you change when rooting, correct?
Your info has been DO VERY VALUABLE, THANK-YOU EVER SO MUCH!!

Rooting allows you to remove preinstalled SE system apps that you don't use, like Timescape and Face Recognition, which will greatly increase performance. It also allows you to enable JIT (optimize), and install xRecovery. See the guide I linked above for safe system apps to remove.
I cannot believe it!! I did the root, when I sort of whacked my phone up,SE PC Companion came to the rescue.
It is like having a new mobile!! The changes are major, same withthe apps, but I certainly live with the changed.
Now,how do I get rid of Mocked,by rooting? I don't need it,so I wouldlike to delete it.
Thank you for your guidance, advice and help. Wouldn't have done it without it!!

my telus fascinate SGH-T959D was update to F/w 2.3.3 by mistake
the phones "standard functions" work, but i lost root access and all the desktop icons disappeared. All the apps still appear to be installed, but those that need root are broken.
Is there a root app for F/W 2.3.3?
The ones i used in the past don't work with 2.3.3
if there is a 2.3.3 root app, can someone please post a link?
if not, how can I get back to the pre 2.3.3 version?
which version should i install so that i can still root the device.
i'm sure that there is posting of the correct stock files to use
At this time, i can't even run the Titanium Backup as it needs root also. thus i can't restore (;
any tips /suggestion would be useful
thank you

Hi there,
I have my rooted I9100 (su binary v3.0.3.2) still running android 2.3.4. I think this is time to update to 4.x (JB is the latest available I guess) but after some research I couldn't find the firmware from a trusted source (since I have to perform the update manually due to root). Could anyone help me out? Some instructions would be nice too. Thanks
Sammobile.com (or JB thread sticked in the general forum) and flash with Mobile odin Pro.
Don't wanna pay for the pro version?
Mobile Odin Lite.
It doesn't get any easier than this.

thanks. Just flashed and everything's working fine. One more question: is there any way to remove all the pre-installed bloatware?

Yes, see @Sun90's post about which apps are safe to remove. And you can use titanium backup (from play store) to freeze/uninstall the apps you do not want.
Edit: gastonw beat me to it..
Freeze the apps first.....in case you mess with something you shouldn't. And make a nandroid before you start....that way you always have something to 'fall back' to if you freeze/delete something that the phone needs to boot .....

thanks @ all. I just found the Root Uninstaller Pro and removed everything I was sure that will not damage the system, like those Hubs and some carrier specific bloatware. Seems to work fine
