The subject says it all.
When I copy to/from my SD card, it's faster then when I transfer to/from internal storage via USB.
Is it supposed to be that way? I'm running Eclipse v0.7 but it's always happened even while on Stock 2.2 and Stock 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
Is there a defect in my phone?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm using the 8GB class 4 SD Card that came with the phone.

I recently purchased a 32gb card as my music is about 33gb, and I assumed that in addition to the internal memory this would allow me to load everything. However, most music programs recognize the internal memory and external card as two different devices, which obviously presents a problem.
Is there a way of mounting or a specific ROM that enables you to combine these two memory types so they will be recognized as a single drive on my computer? Essentially something that would increase the internal storage to the 11+29=40gb that are physically present on my phone, with no or very little SD Card storage being recognized.. I have googled around and found a few people with similar problems but no solution for the SGSII.
Thanks for any help.
This is the best what can be done on stock based ROMs.
I don't think you want to do that. What happens when you remove the card? I think you phone will freak/crash!
How do you get your phone to primarily use your inserted SD card and not the internal USB "SD card" or phone memory for apps/downloads/media its annoying when I tell the phone to use the "SD card" and it uses USB SD card (not actually my SD card)

Hi this is my first Samsung Android, and I'm kinda confused about the storage layout. Iam on 2.3.4 stock, unrooted. It has regular internal sd memory, external memory(sd card), and device memory. I have the apps2sd app, but when I move the app it just goes to the regular internal memory, how do I get it to save to my actual sd memory card? Also what is the device memory and what gets saved there, or used for?

There's 2 'memory cards' The phone has 16gb of internal storage and you can install your own Micro SD memory card in as well. Pending your rom or kernel/recovery the designation... *at least as far as the phone cares* of which card is which can change.
Also some Rom will have an option in the settings and will ask you where you'd like to install yours apps. *system/internal, sd card, or let the system decide.*
Experiment and you'll get it with time.
Connect it to your computer - it should mount internal and external as two different drive letters. When you're looking at files while *on* you phone (in stock, at least), you should see an "external_sd" under /mnt/sdcard - that's the removable memory card.
Well I am lately facing an issue with the stock SD card which was provided together with my neo V. For some reason the free space of the card doesn't correspond to the free space it should really have.
All my data on the SD card is 308.49MB but in Storage there are available only 25.84MB left. How is that even possible?
I have unmounted and remounted the SD card and I have also removed it and put it back in, but nothing changed. Due to this problem I am facing serious problems with the updates of my apps and with the installation of new apps (phone indicates there is not enough space in memory or SD card)
If someone can help it will be greatly appreciated.
I am using official ICS 4.0.4 android version.
Thanks in advance
I believe what you mean is internal memory, right?
normally new apps will install in internal memory.
maybe you can try some apps which can move apps to SD card.Or maybe you can try custom ROM here in Xda...
No, I am talking about the SD card. Not about the internal memory. The internal memory calculates the space properly.
The SD card on the other hand has a problem with that. Even though it is 2GB and and the data in it is 308.49MB it still shows no space available under the storage. Same applies when I use other apps that show the capacity of the SD card.
Take out the sd, connect it to your PC, back up your data and then format it again, then copy your data back to the sd

Hello,
I bought my wife a 16gb SD Card for her Ray and I would like to transfer the content of the current 8GB card to it. However, I did installed some apps on the SD as the Ray's internal storage is so limited. What should I do to be sure that all the apps will run correctly after the transfer ?
Should I bring all the apps back to the internal storage, then make the transfer then put them back on the new SD ?
Thanks !
No I recently changed from an 8gb to Ultra 16gb and I just used my computer to copy everything from the SDcard to the other.
I'd say if you don't tell her when you change it, she won't notice anything.
Maybe it will take a while for the phone to sync with the new SDcard.
Hi,
because my phones memory is just to slow for everday use (rocking i9000 and my internel memory only reads with 2mb/s and writes with 1 ...) I wanted to install CM11 on my externel sd card and maybe use the internel sd card and memory as data storage. I allready bought a 32 gb class 10 sd card which can do 20 read and 16 write in the phone.
I went looking ony the internet and found a bit but all was assuming that the internal storage is broken and/or ended in dead links.
This was the best I could find: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881143
I would be very happy if someone could give me instructions on how to install CM11 (or any custom rom, should be the same right ?) on a externel sd card.
I thought I post it her in the general section cause this should be similar across most devices out there.
Thanks in advance

There is a way of swapping your internal and external sd cards for use as storage using a script in the internal phone memory but I think that runs after android is loaded using script manager. This sounds like he's done it in a similar way by seeing the external sd card as his internal.

Yeah, figured that by now isn't there a way install the actual OS on the externel sd card ? reasoning for doing this that also the OS gets the speed boost of the faster storage.
