[Q] Q: My Xperia X10 mini wont stay off when USB charging - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hello
I have a problem with my X10 mini. Im trying to unlock its bootloader, but im stuck.
In the tutorial, it says that i have to turn my phone off. Im like, fine... But the phone turns on again by it self. Only happens when the USB is plugged in.
I cant continue installing CM7 until this problem is fixed.
I searched the forums, found one thread. But they were not on stock software and startet talking about coding..
Its updated to 2.1
4GB SD Card
No sim-card
-Oh, and it wont search for any updates btw.

you need to turnoff your phone (WITHOUT USB PLUGGED IN !!!!)

2a. Turn off your phone. ---> not plugged in USB !!!!
2b. Open the directory you unzipped S1tool to and run S1tool.exe. Then, click on IDENTIFY button before proceeding to step 2c.
2c. Boot your phone into flash mode (make sure you installed Gordon's Gate found in step 1a first). All users, press and hold back button while connecting cable from PC to phone. Continue holding back button until you get some output. The LED on your phone should flash green if it is in flash mode.

booting into flash mod is plugging your phone while pressing back button (and stay pressed !)
so you don't need that your phnoe stays off while on USB... since the main thing is that he needs to startup with USB

If him post didn't help you try turning off, taking off the battery for 5-10 seconds, then put again and try again unlocking your bootloader

[Q] 3 problems in my x10

Hi all. I have multiple problems in my x10i.it has 2.1 It was rooted and worked fine..few days ago I tried to wipe the phone and did the master reset via xrecovery ..after the restart it just hanged at the boot logo and xrecovery is not working from then....I wanted to update with SEUS via USB... but the phone is not connecting as well...What should I do? PLZ HELP ME GUYZ........
Hi,
Seus doesn't recognize your x10 even if you hold back button while plugging usb (flash mode) ?
This week my x10 2.1 crashed (I suppose it was because of rooting with superoneclick without rebooting immediatly), and wasn't recognized by windows. It was in a loop turnig on/off and only putting off battery could turn it off really. Big Problem.
The only solution I found : putting off battery, pluggin usb cable, holding back button and putting on battery. Back button still hold (like flash mode) until seus recognize x10. Then it runs alone and install rom (after I rooted with flashtools and launched jit optimisation, witch increase truely x10 performances!).
Probably seus not recognize your phone because you have a rooted and custom firmware in your x10 and xrecovery is not working because you did a reset and then you delete some files from your phone, you can reinstall it with the x10flashtool or to make a complete restore firmware whit the same x10flashtool
If SEUS/PCC doesn`t recognize your phone, remove them from PC and reinstall them.
You have an USB driver problem

Did you wait for at least 30 seconds before putting battery inside phone (to make sure clearing all memories? And sure you hold back button before, during and after?
Otherwise, what does happen if you press and hold volume button before turning on the phone (and keep volume button hold)?

Well your usb is definitly working then as its glowin green?..
Are you sure you are doing it all right? It happened the same to me, and it ended I was pressing the wrong buttom (I knew which one was the correct one, but was blind cause I was scared that Ive broke it totally), a day later I noticed it and I was able to flash my phone.
However, read a guide and follow it step by step, reinstall everything and start from beginning maybe?
Or use the repair function with PC Companion
Hi! I had the same problem!
1. Search and download from this forum Flashtool 0.2.6
2. Install it.
3. Download from this forum one generic ROM (for exemple X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897 )
4. Put the file in directory Flashtool/firmware
5. Launch X10flashtool.exe
6. DO NOT PUT THE USB CABLE IN THE PHONE
7.From option "flash select the desired ROM
8. Wait the program to begin(a picture will appear)
9. Pressing the back button, insert the usb cable.
10. Wait the flashing to begin and release the back button.
Follow instructions and WAIT around 5 minutes until flashing will complete
11. Send me two words if it helps you! Success!

Really bricked phone

Hi,
I would like to ask you for advice before throwing my X10 mini away and buying something else.
I have had MiniCM7 installed for a very long time (more than a year), and upgraded to all versions without any problem. Today I installed MiniCM9 3.0.2, but I decided to reinstall MiniCM7 because of some problems detected with this version, so I went to SEUS, downgraded to 2.1.1.A.0.6, installed BusyBox, xMiniRecovery, root and flashed MiniCM7 2.2.0 and gapps. I have done it quite a lot of times before.
But, when I tried to reboot onto MiniCM7 2.2.0, my phone was stuck onto Sony Ericsson logo. Here's what I did:
1) Ok, Home+Power and reenter into recovery by pressing back key. No, no luck, it doesn't enter into any recovery.
2) B plan, I'll go to SEUS again. Home+Power, connect USB and keep back key pressed. Nothing, SEUS doesn't recognize anything, but Companion does activate a little popup on my Windows, as if it detects my phone plugged into my computer. No red, yellow, or green lights in the phone.
3) C plan. Flash kernel directly. I downloaded kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17674938#post17674938 and used FlashTool. But, again, when I press Home+Power, connect the USB cable and press back key, it doesn't recognize anything, FlashTool is waiting for me to connect something. Antivirus is disabled.
If I keep back key pressed, no SE logo appears; black screen. If I release back key for a little while, SE logo appears and it gets stuck.
Both if I connect it to the computer or to the power socket, no green/yellow/red led appears.
Does anybody have any idea? Everything (cable and phone) were working wonderfully before flashing 2.1.1.A.0.6 for the last time.
Kind regards,
Jordi
Ok,before u try this u should know it will delete everything of phone memory:apps, contacts, etc.
And it removes root and recovery and phone will be like the day u bought it except that bootloader is not touched if unlocked stays unlocked
TRY AT UR OWN RISK
Steps:
1-download sony erricsson pc companion
2-click support zone and choose software update
3-before clicking continue click on repair phone
4-wait till loads and choose phone type
5-concentrate on this one cuz it has 2 methods
5a:if ur phone doesent restart automaticlly just plug usb in computer first then with phone powered off hold the back button and connect the usb cable only let hold when it says u can
5b:if ur phone DOES restart automaticlly remove battery till u reach this step and put back cover bedside till ur done with this method what were gonna do is when we reach this step we quickly plug battery and before it restarts just hold back and insert usb cable.
6-wait to install
7-congratulations unbricking
8-(optional):click the thanks button :xD

You say you have an X10 Mini, and not an X1O Mini-Pro.
The X10 Mini requires you to run the nAa-kernel in order to run the latest verstion of MiniCM7.
You say you downgraded back to stock firmware and installed MiniCM7 again, did you forget about the kernel?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhh you are right!!!!!!! I have installed kernels and versions a lot of times on my device, and I was so confident of myself that this time I didn't realize I was missing one of the most important steps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So stupid of me.......!!!!!!!
I've tried PC Companion as suggested before, but no way: it doesn't detect the "flash mode" at boot time. I keep pressing Back key and I only get a black screen; when I release Back key, SE logo appears and gets stuck forever. It doesn't matter if I try SEUS, PCCompanion or FlashTool, it's always the same. I can't shut it down, just restart over and over again via Home+Power.
Does anybody know what can I do?
Kind regards,
Jordi

I do not know what did I do, but by trying for the 1000th time to do the Home+Power+Back key combination with USB connected and keeping Back key pressed, and pressing and releasing it madly afterwards, while FlashTool was waiting for me to flash MiniCM7, FlashTool has reacted!!!!!! It allowed me to install MiniCM7 again!!!
What happened? I do not know, perhaps I pressed Back key just the microsecond that the hardware needed it.
Thank you very much!!!!
hahaha, cool And here i was thinking you were trying to flash the kernel, lol

[Q]Can't boot xperia x10 mini pro in flash mode and can't back it to stock ROM

Hello comrades,
I have xperia x10 mini pro. I rooted phone with Flashtool and installed CWM. I tried to boot it in flash mode (turned off phone, back button held and plugged in USB into the phone), but what I get is that my phone turned on always, like that I pressed Power button.
Earlier I couldn't boot it into the flash mode and I got that I charging battery, but after I installed CWM, phone always turns on.
Due to, I can't re-flash it because it always turns on. I tried with flashtool, PC companion, SEUS but all software need that I turn off phone and then hold back button and plug in usb and what I get is turned on phone. Please help me how to fix this problem.
I would like to re-flash it to stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 (2.1-update1).
Phone turns on even if I just plug in usb to phone (one end is in the PC and when I plug in other end into the phone, phone turns on). What is wrong guys?

Leave your phone plugged in and press POWER-HOME and BACK all together, as soon as the screen turns completelly black (backlight off too) releast POWER and HOME, and leave the back-button pressed, that will probably work too.

How do you mean until I reach connection step, where should I reach connection step?
You take out the battery, then you go into PC Companion and follow the steps to repair your phone, until it asks to connect your phone in flash-mode.
Then do as he said (put the battery in etc.)

What do you think, what will happened if I wipe it using CWM? Can I brick it on that way?
If you mean formatting your phone, so you don't have a system on there anymore... that probably will give you a brick. Flashmode is a hardware feature, implemented to install firmware and enable reparations to your phone's software.
Deleting everything you can will not magically solve your problem, as far as i know.
It might help if you get mad at the phone and abuse the back-button by repeatedly pressing it when connecting the phone.

Does this mean that I have hardware problem. Phone works without any problem.
Somehow it doesn't detect you pressing the back-button, maybe there is some dust or dirt inbetween the contacts or something, since you flashed sucessfully before i don't think it's a serious hardware-problem.

I didn't flashed it before, I couldn't do that. I couldn't unlock bootloader, because I couldn't boot it in flash mode (phone just show that battery charging), after installing CWM now phone even don't show that battery is charging (it turns on when I plug in USB in the phone without holding any button). This is nightmare!
You are still on the original firmware then?
I mean, your phone still works?

Yes, I am on original firmware and phone still works, but I have problem to boot it in flash mode. When I plug in USB cable in the phone it turns on, like that I pressed POWER button. I don't press any button, but when I plug in usb cable 10-20 seconds and phone is on.
Yes, because your phone detects the usb-cable getting plugged in, even when it's off, it thinks you want to charge it, so (normally) it loads the kernel in order to start the charging-process, that is normal behaviour. I have been on a kernel that didn't support that feature, and it booted into the full rom before it started charging.
In short: the usb-port also functions as a power-button, sort off
Does the back-button work normally when you're on the firmware? (Like, open the app-drawer, pressing back-button should close it?)

Yes, the back button works perfect, closing apps (not close apps, but back to the phones "desktop"), back to previous pages in browser...
I am concerned because, before I installed CWM , when it was OFF and plugged in on USB, phone just showed black screen and when I clicked on some button I could see that battery is charging, that was all. Now, when I plug in USB it turns on like I pressed POWER button.
And off course never booted in flash mode because it turns on

What is app-drawer, I don't know what is that.
oh, that's the bit where you find all your installed apps, the grid you see when you press on the little triangle on the bottom of your desktop, or swipe up on the desktop.
I honestly don't know why your phone won't go into flash-mode though. Maybe try to take out your battery for about 10 minutes so your phone gets rid of all charge and static, and then try again.

I solved problem about POWER-ing on when I plug in USB. I installed new ROM "MiniCM7Pro_V21_Paul_XXX" via CWM because I didn't need to boot it in flash mode and now when I plug in USB I got that it charging battery and orange led diode.
But I can't boot it in flash mode even with new ROM, all the time orange led diode when I hold back button and plug in USB. I wiped out all date except something about "battery" from Advanced CWM options.

Are you sure u can't put it in to flash mode, because that's the first thing I would do
Try putting it into fast boot mode
Hold volume up button and keep holding it and connect it to the pc
If you see blue light on your tablet, it means it has successfully entered fast boot mode
Make sure all the drivers are installed
Or
Follow the following procedures
Install Sony Ericsson flash tool and install all the drivers
Hold volume down button and keep holding it and connect it to pc
Once you hear the connecting sound our Any notification on your pc saying that it is connected, go ahead and flash the ftf file

in my opinion, the drivers are not correctly installed
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-tablet-z-sgp311-sgp312-driver/
go to the website and download and load the drivers on your pc
its just weird that it says device connected with Usb debugging off when it is actually powered off
try charging your device, maybe the battery needs to be charged leave it there for atleast 30 mins then try the steps
let us know if you fixed it or not

I have a similar problem, I've flashed plenty of devices before, never briked a thing.
By unloking the bootloader the data partition of my brand new tablet Z went corrupted. I've tried to flash several firmware but none was succesfull (couldn't format data...), and finally it get totally bricked! no light, nothing... I was not even able to put it in flash mode (no light ever!).
I've tried after a while, I've read with some other Xperia devices, it would be possible to recover it after some time, by letting the battery die, then use some rubber trick to keep vol- pressed... you can find it in XDA forums what I'm talking about. However after a month my tablet was still dead. no light, no nothing!
I've sent it to warranty and the just said that "an alternative firmware was flashed" (voiding the warranty) "and has rendered the logic board unusable".... and they have to order a new unit!!
I feel so surprise that even the cheapest chinese tablet have an harware mode that allow to reflash and resuscitate it back to factory... even if the firmware is completely screwed, and a 600$ tablet for a simple bootloader unlock got totaly bricked.
I wonder if there is an "hardware" way to recover the tablet (I saw it's pretty easy to tear down the Xperia tablet Z), by directly accessing the NAND... or by accessing some PIN (well I know sony would have not leaked such information)

SOLVED - Formatted /system in Philz recovery... wrong leds...

Ok, hi guys... yesterday I misinterpreted some instructions before flashing Rajeev's PureX v4.1 rom... was on Niaboc79's ExistenZ Y v2.6.0... so went on, wiped and factory resetted... then, instead of formatting system/data, I formatted data AND system so obviously now it gets stuck at the Sony logo when booting because it has nothing to boot up and the only way to shut it off is with the small red button on the left side until it vibrates, resets then shuts off...
I then told myself I could simply flash a .FTF back from FlashTool, but alas, not this time... ok, I'm on D6503 Z2 with locked bootloader which is not unlockable... and now, when my phone's off and FlashTool asks to connect phone in flash mode the phone doesn't act as it normally would. when plugging usb cable, instead of the original green led, it quickly shows red, then green then nothing and on flashtool we can now see an error which is shown in the screenshot below.
Drivers are installed and I guess the problem now has to do with the bogus leds as they are the same just trying to connect in flash mode out of FlashTool... I Googled and read a lot about it yesterday on XDA and the only potential answer I could find was telling to flash a .ftf whrough FlashTool which was my first bet anyway but now, I really can't think of anything and would please appreciate your assistance about that... I hate to say this but I must admit what I'm requesting now is some help to get me through my own f*** up, please...
Might be a corrupt .ftf , try downloading another one or build your own with xperifirm+flashtool.
You can also try repairing with sony pc companion app...
Thanks for the quick answer... In fact I tested with 4 different ftfs I know are working... and as I said the problem is with the inability of phone to enter flash mode and its wrong leds when connecting to flash mode; not a software issue... I also tried with PCCompanion but it fails at detecting the phone since it freezes at the Sony logo and doesn't boot anything...
EDIT it also doesn't charge when I plug usb or ac. Instead it quickly toggles leds red, green, none one time and stays off... same way as when I try connecting it to flashmode holding vol-...
I've flashed many sony phones that don't boot / bootloop with flashtool and they always come to life again unless there's hardware problems
You phone is beeing detected in flashtool as beeing in flashmode so it's entering the correct mode. As a last resort i would try flashing on another pc/os , i still think it's pc related... are you using any android emulator on the pc? bluestacks / andy or that kind of stuff?
They cause loader.sin errors too... had that happen once on my work computer, uninstalled bluestacks and flashed fine afterwards.
Sorry i can't think of anything else right now...
I don't have another pc, but I reinstalled a pc backup so it is as when I originally set it up... reinstalled flashtool, reinstalled drivers and launched FlashTool to flash a .FTF. It just did the same as before flashes red, flashes green then nothing but the same errot message in FlashTool... but I noticed one thing, everytime I just plug phone to pc, Flashtool states it's in Flash mode as it is not. it was simply plugged in... and I don't use such as BlueStacks... and anyway the phone's leds react wrongly first then the asked action, flashing, cannot be applied hence the error message in FlashTool... thanx for your help...
I'm really used to flashing stuff and I know my mistake now was to format the system partition. From that time, it became impossible to flash any .ftf and the only info, signal I've got is the led quickly displaying red then green led intead of just green then starting to flash, when cable is plugged in, holding VOL-...
Damn formatting the system partition should not hard-brick your phone bro i've done exactly the same mistake on my also unlockable BL Z2 a long time ago, wiped everything and rebooted the phone without flashing the rom xD phone would only show sony logo (can't remember led status) but it flashed normally and came back to life. maybe you got really really unlucky and your bootloader got messed up somehow :| You already did everything i would have done without success, i'm also out of ideas... but xda is full of great minds, maybe someone else can help you better.
You are absolutely right... I had done the same mistake on my xperia T, a while back, and a simple flash from flashtool had taken care of it... I don'T even come to ask for help, usually... when I mess things up, I have always succeeded in bringing the thing back to life... until now...
thanx a lot for your help.
EDIT: Oh, even worse now... when flashtool is done preparing the FTF to be flashed and asks to plug in phone holding VOL-, I tried just plugging the phone WITHOUT holding any button and it did the exact same error I screenshotted earlier, with same red/green/none scheme... So computer really sonsiders phone to be in flashmode from the moment it's plugged in...
No problem, wish i could help more. It does seem like your phone is stuck on fastboot or flashmode. If you just power on the phone and connect it to pc (no flashtool running) does your pc device manager detect your phone? what device does it detect? If you connect in fastboot mode (vol up + plugin usb cable) what do you see in the device manager? Maybe try completely discharging your phone, leave it powered on for a day or so until the battery dies completely, maybe it'll "reset" to normal mode? Just throwing some ideas now, at least we're keeping the thread alive, maybe someone more expert will look at it too
Why you guys quoting every post? Makes it tedious scrolling on mobile.
@rubiicon59 old habits lol xD i edited my posts and removed the quotes, since no one else is participating in the thread they aren't really needed...

first, sorry for the late answer... ok,,, when I only plug usb cable into phone, it is not detected... However, I can boot into fastboot and then it's detected in device manager as in the screenshot below... But, it does flash red just before turning blue for fastboot... just the same quick red flash as when I plug USB in...

Just a quick tip- don't use the red button, it is only for emergency and it is annoying to open the flap everytime. Instead, use the Power + Volup and hold for a few seconds.
WOW! reallly can'T say why it didn't work first time, but I tried reinserting sd card and retake it out, started one last time to flash a .ftf and it worked.... Great, now back on my backup... everything working as it should now....
thanx to @BlAckXpeRia for the reminder tip... Red button should only be used when everything else failed to shut the phone down...
and of course, thanks to @ptmaniac for your help all along these stressful last 2 days... THANKS!!!
oh yeah, SOLVED
Nice!! i really really like this phone, i would be very sad if it died on me like that, good to hear you got your phone back
