Hi guys,
It's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone on here knows how to set the default homescreen that first comes on after booting up the device. Now I don't mean just how to set the default homescreen, I have already figured that part out, and I get the homescreen I want when I press the Home button. My problem really is to figure out how to make it show that same screen when I reboot.
Hope someone can help out on this one

For me, it look really random. Usually it start on the last screen used. If it crashed need the retry option to start, it start on default homescreen. Sometime it's completely random.
Thank chadouming,
I figured it out though!... well kinda...
My solution, a very bizarre one, but works nevertheless:
- Go to desired default home screen (the screen you want to see when your device firsts comes on every time you boot it up.
- Change system fonts (I did say bizarre, didn't I?) [Settings-->Display-->Fonts]. SPB will restarts itself once you choose one and voilà! Done deal!
- When you reboot next time, and every other time after that, it will always come up to this home screen first.
If the setting changes, you can redo the above to your liking.

So I have a habit of sliding the phone open and then pressing the hardware messaging key, and no matter what, it never seems to work. I press the button, and Ill see the today screen, but no messaging window. I have to slide it back closed and open again and everything sorts itself out.
I've tried looking, but haven't seen anyone complain about this particular problem. Anyone else fret about this? any solutions?
no one has this problem?

Kind of annoying thing, using black Satin... But i'll try schaps now to see if that goes away...

Im on WM5.
Vijay, I don't want to disable orientation permanently. Just sometimes, I want to start messaging, so in stanby mode itself, ill open and start it up. thats what confuses the 8525, thats all. I have to close the phone, and then slide it open again for it to regain consciousness!
Its no biggie, but i was just wondering if any1 else had a similar issue.
FINALLY... WHAT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR

I've come to notice that no one REALLY knew how to fully disable screen rotation on WM devices.
Some offered 3rd party apps to get the job done, some only knew how to disable automatic rotation, but when the device went into standby and woke up again - the screen rotated back. So that didnt really work.
So if you're as desperate as i was about screen rotation,
this is what you need to do:
1. Get dotfred's free taskmanager HERE, and run it.
2. Go to "Devices" tab, and look for "MIS1:" device (oem_misc.dll)
3. Long-Tap on it, and tap on "Stop"
4. Long-Tap on it again, and now choose "Set Manual"
5. Go to "Notifications" tab, and look for "Notifications\NamedEvents\VCPowerWakeupEvent"
6. Tap on it to make it selected
7. Disable it
(In dotfred's taskmanager, there should be a button for disabling it, but for some reason some devices couldn't see the button icons, although the buttons are still clickable. Under the notifications list there is an empty light-blue line - the buttons are there, eventough you can't see them.
The disable buttons is somewhere i the middle of that light-blue line, just tap the center until a message box popps up and asks if you'd like to disable this notification - Tap on yes.)All those steps are a one time deal - they stick even after an SR.
This has been tested on htc universal and works great.
The screen will keep its orientation even if you flip your screen, take out your built in keyboard, or turn the device off and back on.
The only time your screen will revert back to the original orientation is when you soft reset your device.
Hope this helps

hi-will the hero work without the sens ? i mean will it work with the regular android gui.
like with the tf3d on wm .
thx
Yes it does. Somehow when i press my home button i get the option of either touchflo or home. Not sure how i got it to do this though!
The home one is just the plain android screen..
I got that too, happens if you press and hold home to view running applications. Goes away if you tick the make default action box (until you press and hold home again)
Yeh i noticed that too, also underneath it says something about changing options in settings home etc..
Tis nice to have the option to do this but the fact that you can do it is clearly a bug. I've let HTC know about it (although they are probably following the forums anyway).

It's not a bug lol, the Sense UI home is simply a separate application to the original home instead of a replacement. like aHome, Dxtop etc etc.
also, holding the home button shows you recently run applications, not applications still running =)
Ok i can't do it on my Hero. Why?? i don't know. MY phone is sim free and not from orange or t-mobile. Maby that's why ??
yeah, it only seems to happen on the Orange and T-Mobile ones. It's not supposed to happen at all!
The Ui is indeed just an application, but it is supposed to run instead of the original Home and you aren't supposed to have access to it any more.

If this is the case are the phones faulty then? Do we ring and ask for new ones. ( mine is a bit worn now had it a week)
they all seem to do it. it appears to be a bug in the firmwares.
I'm sat here with a brown sim free one, running 1.76.405.6 and i can not get it to do this, no matter what i try. each method that people have posted to get it to doit, just simply doesn't seem to do it on the unbranded ones.
I saw a preview device back in may, that had the watermarked screen, and that did do it occasionally, but the release one from work doesn't seem to do it.
Normal Android Home On Hero
Guys Its very obviously not a bug, but actually a very cool feature.
If you cant access the original home,
Here's what to do...
Go to Settings - Applications - Manage Applications.
Scroll down to 'TouchFLO' and hit 'clear defaults'
Obviously this will clear the default action of taking you to the TouchFLO or Rosie UI home.
When you have done this every time you press the home button you will have a choice. Home or TouchFLO.
HERE'S THE HANDY THING ABOUT IT...
So far a bunch of apps have either had trouble or not worked at all due to the TouchFLO UI on the hero. And for obvious reasons. So...
Hit home and choose to launch TouchFLO by default (so you don't have the option of the normal android home)
Download Bar Control by the legendary Andrew Schwimmer for free on the market. open it and scroll to home. Click on home and choose an icon from the list. I chose the home icon but go crazy and choose the little android or whatever.
Now you can only go to the TouchFLO home when you press the physical home key but in you notification bar you can tap the home (or whatever icon you chose) icon and go to the original 3 screen android home.
WHY ITS A COOL FEATURE...
When in the original 3 screen android home the sense UI is not taking up foreground processes. as far as I know anyway. Reason I think this is I am a: now able to install and fully use apps that wouldn't work whilst on the Touch FLO home. And b: my Copilot Live Sat Nav works far better with almost no glitches. Thus bringing me to the conclusion that switching homes is a banging idea/feature
Thank you for you time
dmanbwxe
now that IS cool!
even though it is a bug, cos it's not supposed to do it out of the box (although yes, you can fiddle with it) Having the two like that is a nice set up!!
Yet another cool little tweak. you gotta love Android
I registered just so I could say...
Brilliant!

I just spoke with HTC yesterday and asked about this..
Apparently you need to think of Sense UI like TouchFlo on the Windows Mobile. If you don't like it (and some won't) they have allowed the user to choose whether they want the original or Touch Flo.
So looks like it is not a bug, but its actually meant to do this.
Nice going I say, pleases everyone, and also..... Nice to know that the phone is very fast and responsive without Sense UI, meaning that like Touch Flo 3D, its just a tweaking game to get it to work flawlessly and smoothly, which will come in the future.
@dmanbwxe
just to clarify then- after going through all the steps you said there, pressing home will return to touchflo home as it did before, as if nothing was changed, yes? Definitely not bringing up a menu to pick which home I want?
EDIT- double post
I did this and saw a very significant performance improvement, so set 'Home' to be my default. Now I always go to the standard Android screen. In the settings menu the default option is now grayed out and holding home doesn't give me an option. Is there anyway to get sense back? I don't want to keep it, but would like to play with it some more, but mainly just have the option, I guess.
Oh, without going back to factory defaults ;-)
Homeswitcher did the trick for me (available in the market)
Hi I do not what happen I was messing with prl because I just activate in my country so suddenly In my lock screen (and after ota update of software) the phone reboot and I have not the dial or telephone icon, just a empty circle. I try change in settings but I can't find something like telephone in applications any help? Thanks a lot
Edit: Solution was apply again the updates
.......................................................
Sent from my loved Evo 3D ;D
You need to do the second update. You might have to open HTC watch for it to prompt you or go to system settings and do it manually.

Yeah, go into settings and software update. Choose the HTC one. If it doesn't come right up, keep trying. After the update you might need to reboot the phone as the update won't do it for you. After that you will be golden again!
Mine must be a freak?
I did all the updates (all 4 of them under settings) and battery-pulled many times.
The phone icon is STILL gone. It's freakin' terribly frustrating.
Hello,
If you want to do anyway with the Lockscreen altogether, you can get No Lock in the Android Market for free and it could not be easier to use. You can also easily turn back on the Lockscreen by pressing the Icon.
With No Lock engaged, you have to do is press the Volume Button or any other Button to get the unlocked Screens. The Screen goes out in the same time as whatever you set the time to be.
Cheers,
JJ
I could be wrong, but I think you are having the same issue that was covered in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147524&highlight=missing+phone. They were able to resolve it with the steps provided. Best of luck!
Oh yea, Thanks a lot
the soultion was apply next 4 updates and i can choose again the cellphone thanks a lot
Hi there,
i want to ask if it is possible to lock the screen, when I shut the keyboard slider or even better: Auto-Lock if the keyboard slider is shut AND there is no new input in the next 2 seconds?
I googled, but didnt find a way :/

Sounds like something Tasker can do. tasker.dinglisch.net
Thank you very much. That looks great! I dont have much time right now, but I will look into this on tuesday!
Only problem is: The app is about 5 €... :
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&feature=search_result
Dont get me wrong, I will totally pay the 5 € for this app if it works, but since the policy change, I only got 15 minutes to try the app (which isnt nearly enough!).
Has anyone got the app and might try it, before i buy it???
Thank you!
I created a profile "Not Keyboard Out" -> System lock.
When Im closing the keyboard it's locking the screen
I guess it's probably possible to tweak it to lock after a few seconds.
There should be a 7 day trial of tasker on the homepage. I tested that one just a few weeks ago.
Tasker is great for other things too. I use it to set silent mode after 10pm and when I'm at the office (since it can detect your location) and a few other tricks to control Latify to switch mode depending on if I'm home or not..
i tried it out. It works great, thanks!
You have to make a profile:
Not Keyboard Out (and enable INVERT here!)
-> System Lock
However, I have NOT found a way to give me 2 seconds to prevent the lockscreen. What I've found out:
option a:
Changed "execute" to menu and created another action "vibrate for 1 ms" which i called "use screen". So now i can choose between use the screen and locking it. BUT the timeout is 10 seconds which is pretty much not what i wanted :/
option b:
set display timeout to 7 seconds (is minimum!)
make another option which uses the event "system lock" to set it back to 30 seconds.
but this isnt as good either, because when I dont want to lock it i have a 7 seconds timeout till the next locking... which is pretty short
option c:
can someone how got more skills with tasker help me?
Hi all. Thanks for the site. Hope to help out here when I can. I just moved over from the "X" to Razr, and I have a couple of questions/problems.
When I have a new text message in the notification bar up to and try and open it, the screen goes back to the stock lock screen. What is even more weird about it is that I have Widget Locker installed and enabled. My second problem is that I have Swift Key X installed but every time I go to type something I have to go to input method and re-enable it every time otherwise it keeps returning to the stock keyboard. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
For your first problem, it's normal. You have to disable the stock lockscreen itself. WL won't cancel the lockscreen. There are a few apps on the market that will do that, so just go search.
I'm not too sure about the second though. Try going under Settings -> Language and Keyboards, and change the input method?
Thanks. Found one called "no lock". Seems to be working so far. I don't really understand why I have to have that with the Razr, but never neded it with the X. Oh well. If it works who cares right?
Now I gotta figure out what's up with the keyboard.
