I could not find an answer using search, so my apologies if this was previously answered.
I just purchased an unlocked SGSII (International version) and wondering if anyone had success getting it working with AT&T? I tried using a SIM from my Galaxy S/Captivate phone and changed the bands to 850/1900 in ServiceMode to no avail.
Can someone post working settings for phone and data use? Also, do I need to call AT&T to "activate" my new phone?
You must have done some pretty ****ty searches. I typed in Galaxy S II AT&T APN and this is what I got:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109983
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175006
I added the APN like the posts you referenced, but the S2 still says GPRS and mobile network state 'Connecting'. My captivate just uses the SIM APN settings and gets UMTS/HSDPA.
Mobile network settings:
Use packet data - Enabled
Network mode - GSM/WCDMA (Auto)
Access Points -
Name: AT&T
APN: phone
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: internet+mms
Sorry I should have been more descriptive in my original post. Baseband version is XXKH3 and I tried Cognition ROM to see if a different ROM/modem would help. Someone lead me to the Service Mode menu (*#*#197328640#*#*) to try changing Debug>Phone Control>Network Control>Band Selection from Automatic to just the AT&T frequencies, but that does not change the status.
Please excuse the noobness. Any ideas? Thanks!
Just an update.. it seems that the "International" version I'm using is the Korean/Olleh branded model (SHW-M250K). A couple of threads mentioned that it only works single (900) or dual band (900/2100) UMTS, which would explain why it is only connecting via GPRS.

Is there anyway I can enable or unlock those frequencies? Otherwise, I'll have to return the phone since it does not work on AT&T 3G.

Trying to set up my new X10 mini pro for service on ATT USA. Running into some setup snags.
Have already rooted!
Model is U20i
Have network mode set to GSM / WCDMA preferred
Network operators setting has ATT and ATT DR available. WILL NOT let me select ATT only DR - if I try ATT it says "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
How do I get off of ATT DR and onto ATT?
Under APN I put in:
name - att
apn - wap.cingular
proxy - wireless.cingualar.com
port - 80
username - not set
password - not set
server - not set
mmsc - http://mmsc.cingular.com
mms proxy - wireless.cingular.com
mms port - 80
mcc - 310
mnc - 410
apn type - not set
Should I be worrying about data roaming? Im fairly certain thats what the DR in att dr stands for. I understand if 3G isnt possible. But data roaming.yikes.
Have you checked what operator the sim gives you in a 2G only phone? You sadly wont be able to get 3G, you'd have to track down a u20a variant for that.
Hello. I just received my Nokia Lumia 920 yesterday. It is an International factory-unlocked version (920.1). It's not a dev phone or a Rogers unlocked phone. I cut my mini SIM to a micro SIM, put it in and it was working great (had to soft reset first though)! I do not have a data plan so I'm not worried about EDGE speeds. However, MMS messages are not being sent. Here is what I have tried to do to resolve this:
I went to Mobile Network. Data is off since I don't have any, highest speed is 3G (does this even matter, though, since I don't have data? Or will it affect my calls/messages?). Network Selection is on automatic. Then I went to Access Point. I pressed add. This is what I filled in:
Name: T-Mobile USA
Data Type: Default
Everything under the category Internet APN is blank
MMS Access Point Name: MMS
Username and Password are blank
Proxy address: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
MMSC address: can't post URLs... so I'm not sure how to let you guys know what I have here. I basically searched T-Mobile US MMS APN settings and used the MMSC address that was listed on almost every result.
Network type: IPv6 (I don't know what this is; the other options are IPv4 and IPv4v6)
There is no place where I can put the MMS APN (epc .tmobile .com). When I added this access point and enabled it, then did a soft reset, my MMS messages still won't send. Does anyone know how to fix this, or is it just not possible to send MMS messages from an unlocked Lumia 920 on T-Mobile USA? Thank you!
I have tmobile when inserted the simcard in my z2 I've noticed that I'm not getting any internet connection so i went to Setting/wireless and networks/internet setting and downloaded all the files then I went to mobile netword and changed it to 4G Tmobile, starting that day I keep losing connection every time I have to go to mobile network and change it manually although it's set on automatic, most of teh times 4g doesn't work and I have to set it to 3g... it's really annoying
In your dial pad type in *#*#info#*#* (numbers for info)
Go to phone info
Scroll down
Select prefered network mode
Select LTE or an option for local with
Go back to your network settings and see if 4G shows up
If not change your mode back to what it was before and call tmobile because they may have to sort some issues out for you

go to your network settings, when tmobile USA shows up with 4G click it to register, once thats done, go back a menu and click on network mode and change it to LTE/HSPDA/GSM (or what ever bands are used in USA)
you should have data connection but 4G depends on how good Tmobile USA Coverage is
You may need to call TMo and ask them to do whatever they do in the backend to reset the phone to network connection. Another thing is to look at TMo support site for the correct APN settings. In my case, data was perfect but MMS would not work because the phone settings were incorrect. Basically, call TMo. They will even email you the settings.
One last thing. Try airplane mode off then on and see it that helps.

One thing I would do, is to call T-Mobile and register the IMEI so they can provision the unit. The settings on their end may have something which is preventing it to connect to it based on a previous phone's capabilities.
-----------------
I had something similar similar but it was with AT&T. In my case, it would not connect to LTE at all as it would stick on HPSA. This was because I had a S3 (UK version), which was only capable of HSPA+, and I had registered the IMEI with them prior.
I had a lot of problems getting my Z2 to work on T-Mobile as well. I finally used the following settings to get everything to work.
Create 2 APNs, the first should have the Following Settings:
Name: T-Mobile
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/
MMS proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: defaul,supl,admin,dun,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Now create a second APN with the following settings:
Name: T-Mobile GPRS
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
With both of those created, go to your list of APNs and make sure your first one (T-Mobile) is selected.
These settings fixed my problems, hope you get it worked out.

I had a similar issue, is that why my phone doesn't have signal with tmobile cause I have to register the IMEI?

It is likely, make sure the internet/mms settings are downloaded too.
Once the IMEI is registered, they will able to see what phone it is and enable the proper features which the phone is capable of.
I heard it's best to let them know as the IMEI as well because they could flag the unauthorized phones and reject it from being connected the carrier.

Well I'm all honesty, I think you should have just bought the tmobile version because that is the one that comes unlocked. As for your signal problem, have you tried asking tmobile on how to do it? Or maybe you can look up YouTube videos on how to do so

I heard that verizon g3 does work on tmobile and it works for everyone. AM not sure if i missed out on some steps.
It works. If it doesn't work the only thing I would say is to check if the imei is clean and not reported blacklisted.
If that's good, then toggle the gsm setting from utms/gsm/lte to global and see of that helps

I have an version lg g3 on tmobile from Verizon. You are missing the apn settings you need to manually enter possibly?
swap down from the top of the screen and hold the data circle icon - this will bring you to mobile networks. Select Access point names.
add a new apn.
Name: T-mobile LTE
apn: Fast.T-mobile.com (don't forget the -)
proxy: not set
port: not set
username: not set
passowrd: Not set
server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
mms proxy: not set
mms port: not set
mcc: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: default,supl,mms
Apn Protocol: ipv6
Apn roaming protocol: ipv4
Save.
Also in system select, I use LTE/GSM/UMTS mode.
Global mode works, but i cant send text messages through native app. So i use lte/gsm/umts mode so i can send texts.
I also downloaded the T-mobile visual voice app for visual voicemail
Hello,
I have an SM-T865N Galaxy Tab S6. I am running the latest update released for the tablet (T865NKOU3BTF1).
I live in the United States and I'm trying to use the tablet on AT&T.
I'm able to connect to the AT&T network using the APN settings below. However, the download speeds are very slow.
----Name: ATT Broadband
----APN: Broadband
----All settings from Proxy through Multimedia message port is "Not set"
----MMC: 310 (should already be set)
----MNC: 410 (should already be set)
----Authentication type: Not set
----APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri,fota
----APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
I have searched the web and found various APN settings for APN. However, only the "ATT Broadband" APN setting has worked so far.
Has anyone else been able to use the tablet on the AT&T network and get decent download speeds?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Apparently 3G level speeds are all that can be expected on the AT&T network.
I switched to T-Mobile and the speeds were around 50 Mbps on the tablet.
