I have been running the powerwashed eh09 gb rom with tks kernal for a day now... I would tred lightly with the cm7,aosp gb roms....I read on rootzwiki some are still having sd cards fried.
I'm not sure about the fried sd-card on CM7 but CM7 has been working great for me and highly recommend it. Especially, with the nightlies.
I could never successfully run CM7 or any other MTD based rom. CWM would never mount my SD card and CM7 constantly told me my card was damaged.

Thanks for this reply because it seems everytime I warn folks about those roms, somebody will chime in how well it works for them. Which is perfectly fine but in reality its a crap shoot and cm7,aosp,miui may work for some, but fry others sd cards.
Just wondering, JJHunter, do you use the sdcard that came with the phone or did you buy a new one?

The SD card issue was due to a kernel change that was reverted. There is no SD card issue now.

Yes I know... but I still wont recomend those roms to new users for the simple fact they could easily flash the wrong version and bork a sd card.

Has anyone tried this app on there phones, it allows you to sort of dual boot different roms?

Nice!!! Glad to see you're on it. Would love to have a dual booting phone to match my dual boot Nook!
I've been checking the market on a regular basis. BootManager has been updated to 1.3, and the Evo 3D is now on the list of phones it works on. I haven't had time to download it and try it, but that's definitely on my to do list for tomorrow. It's $2.99, btw. If anyone else gets it working, please post. Now if we only had a working version of CM7...
has anyone installed this and had it working?
Sounds very cool!!!!!!!!!!

This thread is old, but yes, it does work. Currently my phone rom is SupraROM but I can multiboot into MIUI and CM7. It installs other ROMs on SD card so they might be a bit sluggish depending on the speed of your SD card. My class 10 one has a hard time for the first couple of seconds into booting but afterwards its as smooth as a regular non-sd ROM.

It works for me! I'm running a 16gb Class 4 card from Sprint and once I do the built-in SD tweak it runs fine! They just updated the UI on the app and made it simpler to use!-
I tried this APP on my old EVO 4G & everytime i would boot a ROM from my SD Card, I would have tons of FC's. deleted the app.
Can anyone tell me why Cynogenmod, MIUI, and Vanilla Gingerbread all have problems reading my SD card? I REALLY want Vanilla Gingerbread but it won't read my card like the others. It flashes but keeps saying "SD damaged." It won't let me use it. I reboot, do a battery pull, and do a hard reset but nothing works! It works fine on my PC. It works fine on Evil Fascination and Community Rom! I hate stock! Any help is appreciated! I've only been an Android user for 2 months now and still learning!
No offense dude but do a search.

It's a known issue that has been popping up with the latest vanilla gb and CM7 roms. It is not an issue with the v2 rom of VGB or earlier.
nobody really knows for sure. I would just stay away from those roms until it gets figured out...atleast I am.
Has anyone tried v 2 of jt's kernel? He claims that it helps with the SD card issue

Mine just started doing it within 7 hours of flashing vanilla. Miui had no problems.

Well, I bypassed the SD card errors. Now it was getting gapps to flash. I just gave up and went back to stock. Also, for some reason, my Nandroid backups won't work. It says it has an error restoring system. I'm sick of using titanium bu just to get my apps back. Ill continue to try different things if Nandroid would just work. Anyone know why it doesn't work?

Is there a mod out there that mounts the external, removable micro sim card as the internal sdcard, and the internal as the external? I have a 32gb class 10 SD card and at this point it is practically empty because all of my nandroids are on the internal SD. It would rock if someone could make this and inwoukd definitely donate to the person who is willing to help. It is getting annoying because I am already almost out of space on my internal SD. Thanks in advance

I'm not sure how to answer your original question but you can move nandroid backups to your external sd card and if you need it, move it back later.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Yes i know that, but that takes too way too long and it is a pain in the ass. But thanks
what would possibly warrant posting this in the dev section?
I swear someone did this for the international. Or it may have been another phone I have but I know its been done. But even the Dec who wrote the script.to join the partitions said he wouldn't use it on a daily driver. I think it was just more a proof of concept

It can be done with CM7. There is a setting in there to swap the cards so that the internal will be emmc and external will be sdcard. Some people have accidently swapped them and didn't know how they did it or how to get it back to normal.

Nice thanks for this all we need is root now I'm so tired of not being able to use my SD card for anything but media
If the root method you are helping me with works you can just place the vold.fstab on system/etc yourself, glad to be helping

As I stated, I can already use it for everything and Im still not rooted and still locked. I can move downloaded files to it, I can easily access anything on the SD card.
oh yes sir you can ''use'' it but all apps are automatically installed to the ''sd card'' (internal hard drive)
will reflashing undo the swap?
Good question for those wondering this mod (I guess its a mod) works

i looked at the code, but i'm not enough of a linux guy to tell
Flashing the original vold.fstab will reverse this. So, yes, reflashing will undo it.
As soon i finish exams ill make a flashable zip to reverse it

This mod is wonderful. I like knowing that if my phone's internal memory fails (or if I accidentally wipe it), I can just pop out my SD card because it has all my important data. For me, one of the benefits of most Android phones over the iPhone is the removable memory! And only about half of the apps I use were able to default to using the external card when the internal one was present and mounted first. Switching them solves that.

Not necessarily. Coming from the Nook Tablet forums, this has been an issue that has been debated for some time. When you want to write quickly to a card you are better off with a higher class. However, if you need to read from a card, i.e. running an app or a whole OS, or booting off of into a recovery, higher rated cards don't mean faster read rates. Some lower class cards have a higher read rate. There is a discussion about this in the Nook Color forums and is hit on sometimes in the Nook Tab forums, sorry I don't have a link though.
IMHO Sandisk class 4 have the highest performance for reading from. This may not apply though, once you go to a bigger cards; 16G or 32G - I've only had personal experience with 4G cards.
I have flashed CWM correctly, I have done everything right. I have reset the phone many a time, and am not a stranger to ODIN. However, the Fascinate I'm working on WILL NOT RECOGNIZE ANY ICS zip! I know for a fact that it is not a bad zip, but when I try to flash it, (no matter build 1 or build 2) the phone says "E: Can't open /sdcard/<ICS package name here> (bad) Any responses are welcome! I have to return this phone by tomorrow, so I could REALLY use some help here! Thanks again!
EDIT: Just tried flashing the latest stable CM7.2, the exact same thing happened. Help is needed drastically.
Could be a number of things. it is recommended that a CLASS 6 or higher SD card be used. Also known problems with the USB cable. Try using different ones. Are you by chance following Droidstyles Guide ? Located in GENERAL section, it is known as THE GUIDE for our fascinate. Read it through and follow it to the letter.
Peace

to add on: you may need to format your sd card, but I wouldn't go that drastic yet. try what ice mentioned first
I am using the correct CWM, and I have tried using every guide I can find. (including the one you mentioned) I don't know how to check whether or not my SD is CLASS 6. I have not tried flashing the files from internal SD, however. I own 2 SDs and am not opposed to formatting one of them. The other is full of valuable data, but if necessary I can back it up.
Should say right on card what class. I'd try your other cards, or buy new.
And like Z said, it could very well be that needs to be formatted.
Peace

Well the SDs do not have a class number on them. One of them has a little 2 in a partial circle, does that mean anything? And I think you have to use ICS build 1 coming from GB.

It means your SD card is a class 2 ROFL. And no you don't have to go to ICS coming from jellybean that was used when jellybean first cane out you haven't had to do that since 4.1.2 so now it causes nothing bit problems just go straight to gb

Oh, great! Is there internal, mountable in CWM storage? I'm pretty sure the Fascinate has 2 GB of internal memory, and CWM fixed for CM7 doesn't seem to recognize any flashable ROM packages from external SDs. So could I use build.prop to switch internal and external SDs, then flash the ROM from there? Will that work?

Yeah, this isn't actually MY fascinate, it's my friend's. I just want to know if build.prop hacks could take effect outside of Android, and still do their desired effect in CWM. (For instance, switching internal and external SDs)
