[Q] Error in Status 7 - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm trying to flash espressobuild18.zip and I am having a helluva hard time doing so...
I've resorted to going back to my stock, rooted again, still can't get it to work...
When I try to install zip from sd card, I get the msg Error in (status 7)
Anyone know how to help?

I'm not positive but I believe an error status 7 normally indicates a bad download...maybe someone will chime in because I might be wrong, and since I've not run this ROM i'm not sure exactly in the steps for installing this the right or wrong way, but until someone replies with an answer for sure I would try re downloading the ROM and try again

You have to flash the Odin of the cm fix for cm7.

Can you lead me in the direction of how to do that? My phone has been messed up since Sunday and I might take my own life if I can't fix this soon, lol.

Now my phone goes like this...
SAMSUNG logo
Galaxy S with cyanogen mod logo
then shows like it's running something in CwM and then repeats...
Just keeps doing this, over and over again...

I see the Cyanogen mod logo, so I'm happy that I am at least seeing that....
but dammit....

Rom manager major problem!

Long story short: I soft bricked and went back to stock.
Rooted phone.
Then on rom manager I pressed flash clockwork.
Then selected vibrant. That's where the problem is.
It says error occured when downloading and that's it.
I'm stuck on stock how can I make this work or will it work if someone gives me their update.zip?
Also if that works can someone give me their update.zip?
This is the first time I've had this problem and I haven't heard any similar problems so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance.
Delete update.zip, Uninstall/reinstall cwm and try again on wifi

Nope still same problem.
Look in one of the other threads for the zip file and flash like normal

Cant go back to miui or cyanogenmod. Any ideas?

I was running miui 1.7.1 and tried to flash the .3 update and went into a bootloop. I odin'd back to stock using the atlas pit and eclair stock image and checked the re-partition box. Everyrhing went fime but now i cant go back to miui or the gb cyanogen tests!!! I try to flash and it starts then says instalation aborted everytime. I love the aosp roms and want to go back to miui if possible. Can anyone help? Comrom is awesome but im hooked on the aosp roms. Any help or ideas are welcome. Please and thanks.

Which cwm are you using to try to flash miui again?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Tried flashing a few versioms. Starting with the original release up to the brand new one. And tried the 1st cyanogen and the last. Neither work. Same instalation aborted message.

My bad. Just realized what you asked. Im using red. The same one that installs with comrom 2.0. Do i need to switch to orange? And if so do you have a link possibly? Seems like i used red the 1st time to flash but maybe im having a stupid moment and forgot i switched to orange?

I can't seem to get the link to stick so go to jt1134's post on cm7 and in the first post at the bottom are 2 new cwm files...1 odin version and 1 zip file...these are to be used if having problems getting cm7 Or miui to install..if you don't have your pc handy download the zip file...flash it with your current cwm and then select reboot recovery and you will have the fixed one...then wipe data/cache/dalvik and try to install cm7 or miui...not sure what one you wanted to go to?

Pretty weird....but installing the new recovery isn't what actually did the trick. I did that, tried to flash and got the same error. Then was Finns try again and accidentally flashed the new otb kernel instead of cm7. Rebooted then said, what the hell, and tried cm7 and it worked. Thanks for all your help man. I really appreciate you taking the time to give advice!

Yeah, I tried flashing the "fixed" CWM as well and when I booted into it and tried to flash CM7, it gave me an error as well.
I ended up using CWM red (i believe) to start the install of CM7 and then that rebooted me into orange and did the install (if I recall correctly).
...all I remember is that it wasn't like my previous installs, and it wasn't like the steps that had been presented to me on the forums.
Yeah. Its odd. The 1st time I did it I did it from red cwm with no problems whatsoever. Then flashed my orb kernel afterwards. And from previous experience I always flash the rom 1st and then the kernel. But I'm just glad I'm back to aosp goodness for now. Lol. Don't care how I got there....just glad I'm there.

yeah its weird. i had a heck of a time getting back to aosp also. something about juggling red and orange and wiping in between all flashes that finally got me back where i needed to be.

[Q] Seriously need help

Right well been playing aruond alot with my phone and now want to go back to stock rom so i can install sgs 2 final rom.
The reason is that the a2sd isnt working on that rom and the kernel that i have is not cf-root and cf-root will not install when i flash the rom.
So obviously i have a galaxy ace, it's GT-S5830.
I am unable to recover my backup using cwm as it just stops at the second samsung boot animation.
Now i am looking for the stock baseband version but cannot find that. My baseband is S5830BVKQA.
I have been using cm7.1 and .2 which from what i have read causes problem due to ext4 and rfs system thing.
Please help me this is the last thing that i even want to know
i am currently working on the a2sd malfunction

It depends on which method you want to run. You can use the rootzwiki leak which is a tar file used in Odin. Or you can use dagr8's CWM flashable zip.
Let me know which one you want to use and I'll give you further directions. (Odin method would be easier for newbs)

If you know how to use CWM I'd recommend using that one. I believe if you flash the rootzwiki one you will lose root and CWM.

I have done a nandroid and when you say flash i guess you mean load the exe through odin, if so it comes back as failed all the time, do i have to try a diff com or something.

I would suggest maybe starting with the collective First flight ics it just has fewer steps at this point. What you want to do is download the rom to your sd card and follow the instructions on wiping.
If you need more help feel free to pm me.

Except there is no limit it's just a number and you don't trip or flashing in recovery. It only gets tripped by flashing non official Samsung firmware in Odin so I doubt his is higher then 1
