Since I can't figure it out anymore, what is the correct answer, I will make the question...
Have you been able to downgrade your NON ROOTED Hero from official 2.1 to 1.5?
YES or NO???? In case you're answer was YES, tell us how you did it.
I downloaded the RUU from HTC and installed it as always.. If your phone looses connection after rebooting to bootloader, you will have to reinstall the "My HTC"-driver from Device manager..
BTW. shouldn't this be in Q&A section?

what? you simply downloaded the RUU and intalled it?
What should be the problem about that?
It took 1,5 minutes to reinstall some certificates/signatures, but then it just installed as always
No, you have to use the goldcard method. But yeah, then you can downgrade official 2.1 to official 1.5 and root again.

Never used goldcard at all?
Really?
I didn't check without but you might as well be right, I thought HTC wouldn't make it that easy... Especially since all xda members warn us that if you install the update you'd never be able to root again. So wrong.
I've tried to downgrade from Chungwa official 2.1 rom, back to official WWE 2.73 and it didn't work even with the goldcard, it gave and ID error. Do you think the goldcard procedure hasn't been done correctly?

But they cannot lock you out, as they haven't made a new RUU.. So you will have to be able to reinstall the original software to update
Not sure what you have flashed, but a few people have come over to villainrom looking for help.
They definately ended up with a locked bootloader and even the goldcard method was not going to help.
Don't say you were not warned well in advanced, been threads saying do not officially update for months now.
Just download official 1.5 RUU from HTC website and install. Goldcard isn't necessary.

I have the the original HK 2.1 update. I have managed to run the RUU which you suggested above. I have also managed to locate the ROM ZIP and change it to " HEROIMG.zip" which was sucessfully detected.
The update process starts automatically and after a few minutes I get an error message - UPDATE FAILURE- saying that " THE MAIN VERSION IS OLDER!".
Please help.
Many thanks
Darren

Hello all. I have had my Sprint EVO 3D since about mid July. I rooted it via this forum (Thanks for that by the way. You guys on this forum ROCK) once the permanent root solution was posted. I am confused however about updates. Since I rooted my phone one or more OTA updates have been released. I know I am supposed to cancel them and NOT accept the OTA updates since I am rooted. With that being said HOW do I update? I have read where patched updates would be posted but I am unable to locate them. Is it possible for someone to point me down the right path? Thanks in advance.

Depending on what Hboot version your on, it makes a difference.
Thanks so much for the fast reply (thanks button hit). I feel confident doing things to my phone. What I am lacking however is the terminology y'all use here at XDA. I searched for updates but was unable to find them. Thanks again for your reply.

*MY* Hboot verz is 1.40.1000
Look in the development forum, and find a rom that has the updates you're looking for. They usually put a change log in the OP (original post) that will let you know what updates have been made.
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I've got some research to do
Sorry for the thread similar to other but mine is a little different and am looking for confirmation before I break my phone
I will be selling my Sprint Evo 3D that is rooted with S-Off. It currently has Fresh Rom 4.2(with the newest update) installed. I am likely selling it to someone who wants it stock and unrooted. Am I ok to run the ruu in the link below, anything else I need to do? Thanks!!

Just ensure to rename the file properly but, yes, that is all you need.
Thank you so much! I just wanted to verify before I bricked my phone right before I sold it.
Will this work for the 1.5hboot htc unlocked method to make it appear stock?

I've never had to deal with the HTC unlock method however I believe you can just go to the website and re-lock your phone. I know I have seen this questions pop up before.
Hi I need help unrooting my evo 3D I find all kinds of download links for the RUU but they are no longer working. Does anybody know of one that is still working so I can download it and get this phone unrooted. Thanks

unfortunately the radio has random issues,
sometimes buzzs in call, no audio.
I trusted in RUU before upgrade... but i don't know if it revert the phone to previous state
There should be a thread on radios in the development section, not really sure which one would be best for you but maybe someone there can help if you can't figure it out.
