It astonishes me to see you have such a massive ego and mock someone else when you yourself have just proved you can't do something as simple as follow a forum structure or even use the search.
Did it occur to you that maybe if Revolutionary worked on HBOOT 1.5, that the thread concerning HBOOT 1.5 might actually say this? Or instead, you could have just gone straight to http://revolutionary.io/ and seen for yourself? It's kind of strange that you would say that "these kinds of questions never get answered in Q&A", because I decided to visit that section, and guess what the first thread I saw was? This. Is that not enough of an answer for you? Were you expected a tailor-made response from ARX? Guess what; the world doesn't revolve around you or that phone. When they figure it out, if they figure it out, you will know right away. If that's not enough, I can use the search function (something that someone who is not a "noob" should know about), and show you several more threads were there's the same question and the same answer.
It's not really anyone else's problem if you can't A) Read, B) accept that the answer is just "not yet" or C) use the search function. So calm down with the ego a bit, eh?
I don't think I've seen anyone stupid enough to admit they posted in the wrong area without even bothering to search, but still have the gall to mock someone else who's telling you otherwise. This is what's killing XDA. For all we know they may be working on a root method but with the lack of success of Gingerbreak and other one-click root methods I would guess that they, like many others, are having a hard time finding a useable exploit...

I also understand where new members would not know much about whats going on at times, but its nothing more than a simple search. I (and all other members new/old) have to search like everyone else. Its really not hard.
Its also believed with the great devs that are doing what they can (and I THANK YOU for that) to get root available for our device. I'm SURE they will have something up (as in a new thread) that they have achieved what we have been waiting for. Its going to happen. Be appreciative that we even have devs that are making the time to find out all that they can. Without them, we'd be in a world of hurt.

Think of "development" like a business...professionalism is important in business, no? There is a job that is being done here.
If you are looking for the tavern take it to General, if you are looking for the visitors assistance center take it to Q&A. This is all spelled out in the rules. If you have no "developing" to contribute to the "development" please take it elsewhere.

Basically what they are trying to tell you is to post in the correct place (General Discussion). This is the development section. To be honest, it took a mighty long time to get back to normal due to the fact that noobs and cry babies were *****ing about s-off which had everything out of whack. Now that XDA is coming back to life, I'm pretty sure members who have been around for a while would like to see it remain that way. Just be patient grasshopper. We just got root the other day. Let the developers bring you a stable kernel first then we will see SBC soon after.

Agreed. The OP was unarguably development-related, and this was the correct place to post it.
Those whiners who incessantly demand that such posts be removed from the dev section have grown blind to the mission of xda, and would become dangerous and tyrannical power freaks if ever given mod status, and would quickly destroy the dev forum just as thoroughly as what almost happened a few weeks ago in this very forum. Xda exists to further development of the operating systems on our devices. The OP wants devs to see his request, and that's a legitimate expectation, so I can't fault him for posting it here. How many devs ever even visit the General Discussion forum?

Check the Q/A thread at the top of this subforum. It should have info regarding Revolutionary that should work for you, I believe.
I will never understand why people wait on OTAs and THEN want to root. I can't think of a time when an OTA ever made it easier since exploits are "usually" removed/patched. Add that to the fact that the user could have rooted by an already known working method prior to an OTA and still flashed a leak of the official release before it was ever even pushed out. I suppose it makes sense for someone that just bought their phone but otherwise :shrug:

This is easily the most unnecessary thread I've seen in a LONG time. You had to look right at a number of stickied threads that would have answered this question.
Revolutionary does work after the GB update, I rooted my Thunderbolt yesterday, S-off,
DL Recovery, flashed the SU zip file. Took all but 10 minutes. Working great.
Someone should try and count up the number of "I updated to GB and want to know how to root" threads

I googled xboarder56 and right there on the first page you can find where he is. Deal with the question and search yourself. 1st rule of xda in case you couldn't find that also
Their not gone. Google the name of the ROM u want and xboarder56 and I'm sure u will find it. The bottom line is mrmako is right. If you don't know, then it didn't concern you and was none of your biz to begin with. His work is still obtainable. XDA is not only site to find hacks and roms etc. Let's just leave it at that and if you can't find his ROMs then go back to stock. It's not xboarders responsibility to service anybody, nor is it any devs responsibility. They create work that they decide to share with us. That's where it ends. They don't even have to share. So use what you can find. Google usually has the answers.
I miss Binary. He would have had this thread closed and locked already for it is completely unproductive. Since Binary retired from xda this forum has been mad with duplicate threads, noob issues, and a lawless feel. Where is Whiskey to shut this down?
PS just because people have the right to be curious and ask doesn't mean people have the right to know. So exercise your right to be curious and keep wondering. But its not anybody's responsibility to inform the masses of anything. Anything else that you can't find is drama unrelated to development, and if you want a soap opera, you should watch USA Network, they know drama.

This is the General section where questions are supposed to be asked and answered. Any thread that answers questions that many members have is productive. The only reason THIS thread is unproductive is the refusal to answer a question which is on MANY members' minds.

If that's what's on peoples minds, then they should get a new life. I know most of the story and personally its not that entertaining nor is it any of our business. If people want to know, then they can do the digging and be nosey on their own. It's nobodys place to restir a pot not worth stirring. It's counterproductive. Since you're such a tenured vet, you of all people should no better. Why does it matter where he is? If his work can be found elsewhere, what is the point of this thread. Threads like this are what started his move to begin with. Noobish ass questions with the answers right in front of peoples faces. Again, Law and Order is a personal favorite of mine, Criminal Intent and SVU.. if you want good drama, I recommended people start there
Not to mention this thread is 2 pages long, yet you are 1 out of 4 people who have showed interest in wondering where X is. The rest of the comments, the people already know or don't care. 4 people maybe consists on a lot to you, but I hardly would say the same

but this IS our point bro. the op didnt post a thread asking where x was or where he could find his work, he asked "what happened" as to imply "why" x was gone and not really IF he was gone. its kind of like when people get flamed for not searching first for answers to questions like "guys, how do i flash a rom?" or "amaze or s2?", except this is deeper and shouldnt be a topic to clog up our forum. the man left, hes not coming back, no need to continue to ask why or where he went.
on a side note marley, i DO understand your point, i just dont agree with it. i guess this is what happens when people have a $600 phone with little to no dev community LOL. lets just move forward and pray we get some new talent in here!

Maybe we can reach other devs from other phones, like CoreDroid, who are able to successfully port their work to our device. Like what NRGZ did. I think the main reasons for little to no development are: a) amaze is a US phone and not a world phone; and b) s=on. So if we can get this device in other devs hands, it may help. Like the Revolutionary donation we had going. Or I guess we can be happy with what we have and wait for nrgz 3.5 and xboarders ics.

AFAIK, there is only one AOKP ROM for this i777.
There are a few branch-off ASOP ROMs though.

I think the the reason people might be giving you a hard time is because you started a thread and clearly put yourself self above the Golden Rule of using the search button. It is pretty clear what we have in the development forum dude. So whether you have you reasons or not for using whoever's rom here. It doesn't matter. You didn't search. You wanted others to do the foot work for you and spoon feed you. You are now just another statistic that is clogging up xda with useless threads. Thanks!

Use the search button? you got to be kidding me. Some people may want to browse the latest technical issues that came up, and need to read thru pages and pages of total off-topic blabber.
I have a news flash for you. People will continue to post questions and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
Maybe a private forum is a good solution for you if you get annoyed by people asking questions.

im not annoyed at all dude. im just stating a fact. the fact is, that you couldn't even figure out how to use the search button. thats ridiculous. the search button filters out what you're calling "off-topic blabber." so you should really begin to school yourself on how to use it. it would be awesome.
i don't need a private forum. but thanks for the suggestion. I actually add value to this community and keep the development moving. what do you do? I'm thinking it might be a good idea to take your own suggestion and start a private forum for yourself. that way your non-development and opinionated threads can be elsewhere from the actual development and XDA can continue to be what its about. what im telling you is. and i am sincerely attempting to help you. is if you dont like the off topic stuff in my thread and thats the only reason keeping you from it. you can filter the thread with the search function. i fix a lot of things and there is a ton of actual development in there if you choose to search for it. i have to use the search button in my own thread at times. its just how popular threads go sometimes.

Man, if that's the reason you don't want to try Task's AOKP, you should try to come up with some other reasons. His ROM is awesome. He updates at a maddening pace and fixes a lot of things. He is an awesome developer. Also, like he's been telling you, the search button makes it easy to find something you may want to find, you don't have to read through all of it if you don't want to. Sincerely speaking, you should at least give the ROM a try, the download link is in the first page, so there is no off-topic posts to read through to try it. I promise you you will not be disappointed.
